where were they on october 7th, where were they october of last year? they didn't invite president benjamin netanyahu to the white house. this is a failed relationship of our partner and ally in the region. the whole world is watching. gulf arab straights could see we weren't partnering with israel. they hedge their bets. what's happening today is result of iranian activity. but the biden administration's policy set the conditions and the context for what's happening today. >> harris: i want us to hear from americans on the ground, including a former congresswoman from texas maya flores, about what it's like to be there and want to get home. i know the administration, there are some americans who don't want to come home. we heard that in afghanistan too. what about the thousands of people who do? listen to this. watch this.

>> first time i did it was in 2021, where i conducted first rescue of americans. here it is the second time doing the biden administration's work they have no plan no strategy to get the americans out who are trapped. i hope that them being home now and to be in a safe space, has given them confidence that americans won't be left behind. at least those who are elected officials when stand up when it's needed. >> harris: let's roll myra flores. let see what she's tweeted or x. i'm glad you made it home safe. this was a twitter feed an x feed talking with people who not made it and finally getting home. my family is currently abroad in israel and was as told that there are no plans in place to evacuate united states citizens.
8:17 am
with fresh reporting today, they're taking a look at the issue. those families should be told before anybody, we are coming to get you. >> this is pretty straightforward. i remember when we had tens of thousands of people stranded during covid. we moved heaven and earth to get them home. this administration underplays it. they always underreact. they are part of this understanding that it's about the absence of leadership and protecting the american people and our sovereignty. we got land war in europe. land war in the middle east. we got thousands of people streaming across our southern border. the united states is more at risk today than it has been in a long time. in each case it's a set of policies that deliver these outcomes. did not have to be. we have agency here. we could have done so much better. when i watched the horrific
8:18 am
images come out of the middle east. these babies that were killed, these grandmothers that were taken hostage. the united states needs to stay the course. it is going to be difficult in these coming weeks to watch what's happening in israel and the gaza strip. we need to remember october 7th for a long time. we need to not only wipe hamas off the face of the earth, we respond to the primary actor, the iranian regime that held hostages in 1979 for bunch of days. in the end it took ronald reagan to get them home. we need that kind of leadership to get americans out of israel and americans held hostage back to freedom. we build that stable and peaceful and prosperous middle east. >> harris: what we showed you previously it was representative from -- i can't remember which state. i will ask my team. he was from florida. he was talking about how he has gone in and brought 32 americans home. when you have current sitting

lawmakers and of course, willing to go there but able to get to 32 people and you know you have at least 17 and he's not special forces on the ground with geared kit. it is not only unacceptable. it is afghanistan all over again. remember, we were broken over that. we said it wouldn't happen again under in man's watch, it happened twice. secretary of state antony blinken just moments ago, secretary pompeo, met with survivors and victims of families of the hamas massacre. remember, he's on the ground today. he was at a donation center earlier this morning. he's in tel-aviv. here is part of an emotional exchange between antonini blinken and friends. in we have lots of friends. we lost lot of our friends, close friends, lots of family

secretary pompeo? >> harris, i was listening to that. we had both grief and horror and love singing in the background. tough, resilient people in israel, living in their rightful homeland, the jud jewish people. there are some great partners and they are wonderful human beings. we have a responsibility to help them get this right. what we'll do our part in the short run. biden administration is now getting that piece right. this is going to take a sustained effort over years. this threat is not going away. this is the hard work of deterrence. when the biden administration called the crown prince pariah and refuse to bring prime minster benjamin netanyahu to the united states. that's a signal to the bad actors. those are connected. we have to get this right. we can do it. the american people will support
8:22 am
government officials. when we get it right, good things will happen. >> harris: i have to let you go. i have to ask this because you brought up saudi arabia and that 45 minute phone call that saudi arabia had with iran, what do you make of that? they are united in supporting the palestinians. i understand that because they're caught in the gap between fighting forces now and terrorists. they can't get out. what do you make of 45 minutes. i wonder if our president had a conversation about that, $6 billion. >> i hope so. i hope that $6 million never sees the light of day. no more money goes to the iranian regime. as for the gulf states we put them in a difficult position. we negotiated with the iranians first two and a half years of this administration. we were cutting deals with them. if you sit in the region, you say, you know what if the americans aren't going to help
8:23 am
us, fight against the regime that wants to kill us too. i got to figure out a way to hedge. i'm very confident that the leaders in the gulf states all want to normalize relationships with israel. i'm certain of that. the timing it was always uncertain. we delivered four of them. they understand israel is going to exist. in this moment, what i'm watching what they do. we'll see statements to try to find their way through this. what we should look for is actions each of these countries take. i'm convinced these people that live in the region will see the jewish people, the israelis. they will come to see them as good friends, good partners and good business colleagues. it will take little time. we can get there. it's going take the united states demonstrating its commitment to israel to help them find their way there. >> harris: god bless you for your optimism and leadership. we need that. that's the songs the hebrew songs they were singing. we know what a himmal sound

attacks as he announced the u.s. is sending more military assistance to israel. this comes as lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle say iran should be blocked from getting its hans on that $6 billion in frozen sanction funds. that money was released by the biden administration as part of an even prisoner swap. >> not a penny more should go to iran. the 6 bi 6 billion dollars thats made available on september 11th, should not be made available. >> we do agree that iran should not receive any money from the u.s. >> the biden administration needs to speak to iran and tell them, the show is over. the game is done. we will not tolerate them sponsoring these terrorist groups. >> i'm in support of frankly any measure that makes it more difficult for iran to carry out their terrorism.

>> harris: in focus, senator marco rubio of the great state of florida, ranking republican on the senate intelligence committee and member of the senate foreign relages committee. senator, thank you for moment of your time today. secretary of state antony blinken is on the ground in ices. he's set to speak live now. we'll take that live. what do you want to hear from him? >> continued message about how we're going to be there to support israel. hamas seeks to be embedded in all of this. hamas wants to be the dominant palestinian group in the region. that's what they want. to be the dominant faction for palestinians. they think that what they have carried out, the taking of hostages, the ability to exchange them in the future for certain concessions and the brutality that you see on television and cheered on in some parts of the world and country. increase their prestige and
8:35 am
support for them. i think it's clearly important that they be destroyed. that israel do everything they can to destroy them. this is going to be very unpleasant. hamas hides behind civilians and uses them as shields. don't really care about people dying. they view death as a form of worship. it's a very disturbing situation. we don't need to be explicit. we need to make clear to israel's enemies that the united states will continue to supply israel what they need until that job is done. second message is important as this effort moves forward, we have to work very hard to tame the temptation of iran and their proxies in the region from targeting and attacking americans. we know who their proxies are. they can't hide. i think it's important to make clear that an attack against americans in the region by iran or by their proxies will be
8:36 am
considered an attack against the united states and by an iranian state. >> harris: six days later, i don't see that immediate physical response. may be there's a whole lot going on and i'm certain there is. we don't know. i mentioned this earlier, we had a president, donald trump, who said you kill one and he come for them. i'm fair phrasing. we got at least 25 americans dead that we know about now on the ground. at the hands of terrorists. what should the response be? what should we hear from blinken? apparently, i don't know if the president will go there the way he went to ukraine. i don't know if he'll go to israel at this point. >> i think the most important thing for israel is that their enemies understand that u.s. is lock step behind israel. there's not any separation. we're not here 10 days from now saying you done enough and you
8:37 am
killed enough hamas terrorist. that's what it was in 2021. i think there's always that -- it's what they are counting on. these guys in hamas are not saying, we got stop this because too many civilians are dying. they don't about that. what they want to do is emerge from this being able to be viewed as more popular than the palestinian authority, for example over in the west bank. they want to be the dominant group in the region for palestinians. they view this as a great success. they have to be degraded. what they are counting on, when the images stop flowing and atrocities they committed that the world will put pressure on israel and u.s. and elements join in. none of us should be cheerful.
8:38 am
>> harris: you have touched on something that's important. it's all over social media. the former leader of hamas has called for basically a thaw on everybody. everybody just go out and do what you got to do. if you can do something on your own, which sounds like terrorism to me, then do that too. those words are resonating -- i don't know if you've seen it in the state of michigan and across the country here in new york city, those protests going on. if we pop up on the screen the support for israel. it's not 100%, it's not 85%, it's 68%. 18% for palestinians and 7% who say they don't know. they're neither at this point. how should we respond to what we're seeing in the street? should there be concern there? should we harden targets? what's your take?
8:39 am
i want to make this clear, they are not necessarily supporting the terrorists that are killing them on a running basis. this is how it's shaking out in the new fox polling. >> couple of points. i think clearly, i don't need to take a poll, israel is not popular among palestinians. not every palestinian is in support of hamas. not every palestinian is in support of slaughtering babies. it's important to say that. the second point, we always should be vigilant. we have a border. in mexico, we know people are crossing that border. we know that iran and other elements -- we should be vigilant. the greatest risk in my mind based on everything that i know in the short to midterm, it's not some short orchestrated
8:40 am
effort. it's that 100 people who their that message. we had a pilot, saudi military pilot who was training alongside our soldiers who carried out such an attack at one of our air stations. to me that really poses the greatest short-term midterm risk is the lone wolf attack within our country and other parts of the world. the one that's most immediate and worrisome is the lone individual who inspired by this to take action. >> harris: for the people who are already here. they may not be coming across those 1900 miles of border. most of it enough to get people through. they are flowing through like water. >> if you're willing to go out in public and celebrate and mock and laugh about the slaughter and the butchering of innocent
8:41 am
people, innocent jews, then, that's one step removed from saying, by the way, i will kill some jews myself. that is very worrisome. that's hard to identify and spot ahead of time. that is the most immediate and prominent risk. there's always the risk of an organized effort. that's ongoing. >> harris: you isolate the one that's of heighten concern. senator marco rubio, great to have you in focus today. i appreciate your time. we're awaiting secretary of state antony blinken to speak in tel-aviv after meeting with victim's families. we showed you little bit of him meeting with one young woman who was at that music festival where so many died. as far as we know, one of the first places that hamas began its killing. we'll take you there live when he speaks right after this commercial break. his #2s are perfect! he's a brand new dog, all in less than a year.
