2:00 pm
by the way, to put a wrap on this ahead of our special saturday show tomorrow where we're looking at two key developments. not only the latest in the war as the various specified ground actions are happening, but we're also going to be able to get the read right now about this world wide protest that has been going on. this one is getting the attention of not only israel but the world over. the former prime minister is going to be joining us from israel. his take on where this goes and the message israel has for the world. also, we're going to be following that speaker race. looks like the house is going home. no speaker vote tonight. a second vote that shows jim jordan is getting closer but no cigar. not even close. see you tomorrow morning at 10. in the mean time, here's "the five." >> hello, everybody.
2:01 pm
i'm jesse waters along with judge pirro, martha mccown. 5:00 in new york city and this is "the five." israel's plan to deliver swift justice to hamas terrorists now facing push back from president biden. the administration has been saying israel has a right to defend itself after suffering the worst terror attack in its history. but now america is urging israelis to delay ground operations while safe passage for the palestinians is secure. >> israel has a need to defend itself and respond to these attacks. it's also priority to urgently address the humanitarian crisis in gaza. we can't lose sight of the fact that the overwhelming majority of palestinians had nothing to do with hamas, and hamas' attack and they are suffering as a
2:02 pm
result as well. >> president biden what did you say about a ground invasion in gaza? >> president biden wants israel to slow up, but time is crucial when hamas is holding 50 hostages. israeli forces launching targeted raids into gaza to try to find those captives. israel also giving 1 million gazans 24 hours to get out ahead of a massive ground invasion. a netanyahu spokesman said they have made it clear they don't want to harm any civilian. >> the people of gaza know their cities. they know their communities better than i do, better than you. they know where the hamas strong holds are. they know where the arms depots are. they should move away. they should move away. even if hamas tells them don't move away. move away. stay out of the combat areas. we have no interest in harming you. please, you have time.
2:03 pm
not much, but you have time. move away. >> some palestinians fleeing gaza after israel dropped leaflets telling them to get out while they still can. hamas wants palestinians to stay in the area. >> hamas are telling people to don't move. hamas told their people stay, not move. that's part of their cynical message. >> i'm getting the feeling, judge, that biden is keeping israel on a very short leash. he's already signaling pump the brakes when they haven't even officially begun the ground invasion. >> biden, it's interesting that he has the ability to say pump the brakes, given 29 countries are over there and most have taken out their own citizens and biden hasn't. but did the israelis get 24 hour notice? did the israelis have the opportunity to defend themselves and move out?
2:04 pm
the truth is, hamas is telling them not to move. no other arab country is interested in taking the palestinians. the amazing part of it is hamas should have had them out saturday night. after hamas did the attack on israel they should have said, israel is gonna hit back, let's take care of our people. this is the whole point. the palestinians are nothing more than a pawn in the game that hamas and iran are playing. and you know, egypt ruled gaza from '48 to '67. then when israel took gaza over in 2005 they said to the palestinians you can have gaza back. they elected hamas. they elected hamas in 2006 and 2007. hamas was not interested in defending or taking care of these people, nor do any of the arab countries want them. egypt doesn't want to let them out either. egypt doesn't want them in their country. so now we have a problem.
2:05 pm
biden wants to delay, wants israel to delay. what does this do? it's worse for hostages. it plays right into hamas' hands. we're in a situation that almost no win now because the world is going to come in and say we're farther away from this, everybody remain calm. >> u.s. congress is very supportive of the israeli ground operation. i can't see any way the democrats and republicans are going to try to have netanyahu slow this down until they've rooted out these hamas terrorists. why is joe biden on a limb like this? >> good to have you back and be back with everybody. i don't think he is as far out on the limb as you think. he has made clear. secretary austin was there, secretary blinken was on the ground today making clear you stand with your friends and you stand behind your friends and you run to your friends in a time of peril. i think the primary concern of the president, and i think it's
2:06 pm
a valid one, is if this escalates, meaning the more palestinians you kill, the more likely it is that hezbollah will invade from the north. if that happens, you have a massive escalation in this, which we obviously know the iranians have some part in this and they are supportive of hezbollah, as we all know. which means this thing would escalate even more. that's how i interpreted what the president had said. we have said we will not send weapons. the real hold up is we don't have a speaker in the congress. hopefully they do that sooner than later so we can appropriate the money we need. everything the president has been able to do, he has done it. it is right for him to lay this out, for one other reason. to deter iran we've got to build this coalition out, so the saudi, egyptians, jordanians are critical to this. the signers of the abraham accord are critical to this.
2:07 pm
the more they stay with us, the more likely it is we will be able to deter iran. the only reason hamas did this is because the prospect that israel and saudi would forge an agreement that would further isolate the iranians and strengthen the saudis and bring about a new path to reconciliation and shared growth in the region. i interpret him slightly different than you. >> it would help that alliance if the president would tell these arab nations take some of these palestinian refugees. >> that is true. >> your thoughts on president biden today? >> it's interesting that every u.s. president basically ends up having to deal with the middle east. this president tried very much to leave this whole thing behind. he went to the middle east, pulled out of afghanistan, didn't really make any efforts to broker a peace deal in the middle east which many presidents have. he sort of didn't touch that. didn't invite prime minister netanyahu to the white house until the very last minute. and even now, they met during
2:08 pm
the meetings here in new york and said, oh yeah, please come by the end of the year. that's all that has happened so far in terms of having that meeting. so the problem is, now i think these countries that were involved in the abraham accord, i think they would like to see a strong arm against iran. now we find ourselves -- because they don't want to do it and they don't want to say it. isolating iran works for them as well. i think it was very interesting in brett's interview with the crown prince of saudi arabia. he said well of course we have to address this palestine situation. it wasn't fire in the belly, in terms of the way that he talked about this. so i think there's a real opportunity. the other thing i sense from president biden is the restraint issue is kind of parallel to as long as it takes in ukraine. and now the united states has its hand on the pillar of two enormously important situations.
2:09 pm
so basically we are the lead supporter in a two-front war. one in europe, one in the middle east at this point. this is an extraordinary and consequential time. i think if this becomes the central issue of the 2024 election and i think it's going to be a referendum on leadership and who can take us through this next series of really important consequential world events. >> we're in a proxy war with the iranians and russians. commander in chief joe biden, we were talking on my show last night, everybody needs to understand this is going to take awhile because of these tunnels that are so deeply entrenched underneath the gaza strip. why hasn't president biden conveyed that this is maybe going to take not days, not weeks, but perhaps months and months? >> what we saw from the podium today was a reflection of an instinct from this administration from the very beginning, which is both sides of him.
2:10 pm
you saw the tweet deleted from the palestinian office inside jerusalem. you saw the statement from blinken that was pulled back about both sides in restraint. that's the instinct of the modern democrat party. this referendum is about which administration would handle it properly. you've got the trump administration with no wars and none of these incursions and peace, vis a vis to open land wars that we are trying to steer in a direction and doing so very poorly. by the way, we have u.s. hostages in gaza, united states citizens in gaza. it should only be joe biden saying, hamas, try it and you'll find out. egypt, we don't want civilian casualties. take them. take them now. you are supposed to be a partner this this. netanyahu has to do what he has to do to secure his people. he has an impossible situation in gaza considering what hamas has done, considering the hostages it has, the tunnel
2:11 pm
system. built in fortified defense. the international community just waiting, just waiting to broadcast. then the administration prepared to jump into both side, that you saw already today. i hope netanyahu does what his country needs and doesn't listen to the pro palestinian millennials inside the state department and the white house, whose reflex is to be pro palestinian at this point and not pro israel. >> just in fairness, he didn't say don't go, nor did he say -- >> the rumblings. >> the united states is fully behind israel in this effort. when you are partners with someone, you can say to a partner, hey, we think you should think about this in a certain way. >> in private. >> we are giving them everything they need. the only reason we can't give them everything they need is because congress -- >> they can't even say iran. they can't even say we're going to claw back 6 billion. come on.
2:12 pm
>> if we go in the way you are saying, they don't even listen to what we are saying and hezbollah attacks on the north. they have 150,000 rockets. >> should we be afraid of them for the rest of time? >> by no means. >> netanyahu doesn't want hezbollah to invade from the north either. >> netanyahu has a mission. he will do it. >> mr. netanyahu has not said america hasn't given him everything he wants. the only reason we can't do this, congress needs to get back in session and appropriate these dollars, period. >> they'll get what they need. the amount of money we give the saudi, the egyptians and jordanians, we can move some people around. everybody knows joe biden can do it. coming up huge anti-israeli protest erupting in times square right now after hamas calls for a day of rage.

i'm franklin graham. the world is searching for peace, and it seems to elude our leaders, and maybe you wish you could have peace. maybe your life is in turmoil, and you don't know where to go, or what to do. but you can have peace, and that's through the prince of peace. that's the lord jesus christ, god's son who came to this earth to take our sins, where he died and shed his blood on a cross and on the third day, god raised his son to life. and you can have peace, not only now, but for eternity, by putting your faith and trust in god's son, jesus christ. if you've never done that, pray this prayer with me right now. just say, "god, i'm a sinner. "i'm sorry, forgive me. "i believe jesus is your son. "i want to trust him as my savior "and follow him as my lord "from this day forward. amen." if you prayed that prayer, call that number that's on the screen. we have someone who'd like to pray with you and speak with you. do that right now.
