thank you. joining me now for more on the response of the war in israel is david friedman. mr. ambassador, thank you for joining us this afternoon. i wanted to get your take on the conversation ongoing in the region right now. secretary of state antony blinken was just in egypt. concerned about the reaction from israel and it turns into a collective punishment of 2.3 million palestinians. secretary of state says we are determined to suffer primarily as a consequence of what hamas has done on all sides. what is your take on that? >> the innocent civilians are the jews that were slaughtered. the civilians in gaza and i think israel is going to do everything it can to minimize casualties. understand the civilians in gaza , in large part, not entirely, but in large part have

celebrated the rape murder and beheading of jewish women and children. in bed with hamas. they provide aid and comfort. the safe passage of places to hide. under the laws of war as people recognize, many of them, not all of them, but many of them are fair game. israel will do everything it can't be a and israel's interest to do so to minimize civilian casualties. they are doing something no other army does. they are warning the people on the gaza strip. we will comment to the north. moved to the south. that is pretty unusual for them to telegraph where they're going israel said we will give you more time to get out of the way.

asking egypt to open up humanitarian corridors so the refugees can move even further south. the civilian issue is a significant issue, but let's not lose sight of the fact that israel just suffer the most significant attack since the holocaust. it will do everything it can to voice this. but it must, it must eliminate hamas because if it does not they will come back stronger than ever in the future. an enormous victory for the forces of evil. the jewish people will not be safe. >> the national security advisor jake sullivan asked if it will cost $2 billion foreign aid package. he said it will cost a lot more than that. how much does it handicapped this fight that congress does not have a speaker. how much more can the u.s. do without getting that age package through and what does israel need now as is enters the next phase?

>> israel, fortunately, there are funds that are pre- appropriated thanks to people like marco rubio that put that initial 10 year package together. this is unprecedented and unexpected. there are a lot of supplies that are needed. a lot of ammo that needs to be replenished. the ability to confront lebanon. this is an incredibly sophisticated assault on israel. this is not anything close to ukraine. they are totally separate. not even a fraction of what we are spending on ukraine needs to go to israel. they do need some small, you know, digit billion-dollar aid whether it is one, two, $3 billion, but it is nothing like ukraine. >> the abraham accords.

something that you work intensely on under the previous administration seems ready to expand with the saudi government do you think that that is now finished? part of the motor vacation for this was hamas seeing the region with israel. leaving the palestinians for a two state solution behind. >> there is no question their fingerprints are all over this. normalizing saudi arabia. iran did a good job here with putting the talks on the back burner. ultimately, the fundamental incentives remain. they are all, they have the same basic enemy which is radical islamic extremism.

different places. iraq, syria a little bit of qatar, they are everywhere. what we have done is they have picked the palestinian cause. not because they really care, but because they know it plays out well in the muslim street and that is how they can get support. they, the iranians are using the gaza civilians as pawns in their game and slaughtering our people , women and children on countless war crimes. we are still in a type of shock control manner. i really hope that we managed to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure. we have no interest in killing children. we are not them. what we want is to destroy their ability to attack our people

so we do not know. we do not know how long she will be able to survive. unfortunately, no new information. >> are you watching the potential for ground invasion closely? >> we are trying to stay positive. believe that the idf and whoever making those decisions have my grand mother kidnapped people in their minds. i want to believe that everyone does whatever possible to bring them back home. somehow making the situation in israel more possible to leave here. >> tell me about your cousin.

categorically change the likes of predating 2005. from both current and former members, they are looking at this as a long mission. they hope to do it swiftly with minimal consequences. likely this will be a long-term presence we have on the ground there. >> you have hezbollah in the north. what is the status of that? the opportunity of this to really spread. >> we noticed recently. calling to discuss how it may be responded by other measures. from an international policy perspective i know i spent quite a bit of time in the trump
