border. ground invasion appears to be imminent. breaking news, state department enlisting a help of a royal caribbean cruise ship to try to evacuate americans out of northern israel. we say good morning. we hope the weekend was good. we're back at it from new york. >> good morning. good to be with you. i'm dana perino. it is day 10 war between israel and hamas. israeli, palestinians and more than a dozen missing americans. >> israel continues to strike the terrorists from the air. this ground invasion. which could begin at any time. >> that expected ground assault is drawing a new warning from iran. >> the situation in gaza deteriorates. there are thousands gathering a at border crossing with egypt in the south. they are waiting for the border

cease-fire talks. that war rages on. i do want to show you video that we shot yesterday indicating just how many weapons were brought by hamas militants when they came into southern israel last weekend. it gives you a sense what they were preparing here in the jewish state. take a look. you can see here rocket propelled grenades recovered by the israeli military in the southern part of their country. they found about a thousand of these brought in by hamas fighters to use against israeli communities along the border. this arsenal here just accounts for about 20% what was recovered. hamas plan to battle for days. israelis say most of this is homemade. they don't see any evidence of outside help but prepared what they will face inside gaza. >> homemade explosives are very common in the gaza strip. they have factories of this.

missiles fired into israeli territory killing at least one soldier and one civilians. israelis responded with artillery strikes and using their fighter jets to hammer hezbollah positions. but this morning, an israeli military spokesperson telling fox news that iran directed these strikes by hezbollah and another example of how the iranians are trying to direct what's going on here on the ground, getting a sense how the israelis will respond. >> israeli military has gone into gaza 2009 and 2014. are they suggesting they are better equipped now based on the video? >> reporter: yes, absolutely. we spoke to that major in israeli army yesterday asking him about the weaponry. i pushed him hard how to make this equipment and whether or not it was linked to iran or other actors. he told me, youtube. he said they learned on youtube. they learned how to make rpgs

and other significant weapons. he showed us a bomb that was thrown into a civilian home. they had stockpiles of weapons that have been smuggled in the past through tunnels from the egyptian border into gaza. but the majority what they brought into southern israel was homemade in factories inside gaza. it's of concern for the israelis. what you saw, that accounts for 20% what they brought into israel. the israeli military telling fox news they believe hamas has five times more weapons inside gaza. if they enter on the ground, israelis will be engaged by hamas and islamic jihad fighters there will be roadside bombs and i.e.d.s. >> trey, thanks. back with you next hour. >> let's check in with lucas

how blinken characterizes the meeting. take you right now. trey was talking about northern border between lebanon and israel. we can discuss that throughout the morning. right now, all the attention down here at the gaza strip, southwest corner there along the israeli border. let's go in now and clear this and show you what we're dealing with in the gaza strip. gaza city, majority population right in northern gaza. the idf warned everybody to get out. more than million people heeded that call. getting down there to the southern part of the gaza strip to this raff rafah border crossing, appears to be more difficult than lot of people thought. still ongoing negotiations between the egyptians, israelis and americans. let me clear this. i can show you again. we had this map up last week it shows the population. the darker the color the more

people. 650,000 right here in gaza city. northern stretch here up to 250,000 places and rafah. this is shows the two routs for gazans who live in the northern section of the strip. you got a coastline road here that runs right along the mediterranean. that stretches about 25 miles. then you've got another road call it a highway that stretches down there and intersects in the middle of gaza. that's the route out if you looking for refuge and safety to get down here to the rafah crossing. we'll see, may be days how they negotiate who can get out, what aid can get in and if you're leaving gaza, are you a part of hamas as a fighter or not. that's a whole part of this area about how the section off people coming in and out.

peter lerner join us now. sir, hello to you. do you have an update as to where these hostages are and what the state of they are now after being held on day nine and moving quickly to day ten? >> we are now at 4:00 p.m. it's in the midst day 10 of the operation. the history of the h hostages is top of our priority. we've updated 199 families of people that have been abducted and held by hamas. obviously, because of the sensitivity of the issue, we're not going to be saying too much. it's very delicate issue understandably. i'm sure you understand why we're being tight lipped on the subject. ina toad -- i need to respect the families despite the curiosity the viewers, you must
6:12 am
know they are top of our priority. we will do what we can and bring them home. listening to the report, i just saw a statement from the u.n., they put out an announcement. i think it's important for viewers to know of that yesterday, people from hamas supposedly from the ministry of health, came to the u.n. facilities and took the fuel and equipment of the u.n. agency from the compound. this is hamas. i've been asked extensively over the last four days what about the humanitarian situation in gaza. this hamas, when people need fuel and medical supplies forward their needs, hamas just comes in and takes it. this is where we are. this is our enemy. this is who we're up against. on day 10, we are continuing to strike against hamas wherever they are.
6:13 am
we are determined to destroy their capabilities to pursue their leaders and negate any capabilities to conduct massacres, terrorist attacks against israel. they are going to lose. we didn't start this war. we will win it. i would say that we are currently massing our forces on the ground around gaza and making sure that we are prepared for a ground mobilization if the government instruct us to do so. we've recruited some 300,000 forces. you can see on the screens, they are very well prepared, very well set up and they will be ready if the government instructs us to mobilizes. the mobilization isn't the essence. the essence is emotionallization in order to meet our mission and to destroy hamas and defend the people of southern israel and beyond. >> it's interesting that you brought up that unruh statement
6:14 am
about the fuel and medical supplies being stolen. i seen that same report right before you came on the air with us. i think that one, you're right. everybody does need to know about that. i'm gla glad they made in announcement. i'm wondering if you can explain all that israel tried to do to warn people in gaza to get out and how they can and if those corridors are they open? i know there was reporting over the weekend that hamas was blocking some people from leaving? >> indeed, today we're in day four of the massive evacuation from north to south. my initial information this morning here in israel was that some 600,000 people have been evacuated. i'm hearing now there are much more that have evacuated and media reports suggested up to one million people have left. i'm quite happy, because hamas
6:15 am
put a huge effort, public awareness campaign, circulating messages on social media but also, establishing physical barriers that we shared with the media yesterday of physical checkpoints preventing people from shifting down south. there was report two days ago a strike supposedly by israel air force. it appears to us from our analysis that the explosions actually did not come from above from an airstrike. actually from the ground. it appears they may even be attacking people trying to go south by explosive devices or booby-traps. there's a very dire situation indeed, dire humanitarian situation. the whole idea behind the evacuation mission is to get people and separate and distinct
6:16 am
people who are terrorists the hamas terrorist organization and people who are non-combatant. this is within the boundaries of laws of conflict. that's what we're trying to do in order to achieve our goal. >> i wanted to follow-up on that. you're hitting on something that i'm curious about. when people are leaving gaza, are you able to know if the hamas terrorist fighters are amongst them? if they are willing to use their own people as human shields, i would presume they will be willing to hide amongst the refugees, evacuees to get boo other parts of israel or other parts of the world to do these attacks? >> we haven't seen hamas now for ten days. the leadership is in hiding. they are cowards. they will sacrifice the people of gaza while conceiving themselves. that is their way of operating. indeed, there may be some
6:17 am
attempts to conceal themselves within the general population. some of the things they were proud about, their actions on saturday october 7th, we know they are proud of it. exactly of the images you're showing now of the attack. the terrorist attack. they videoed it all. we have loads and loads of body cams showing who they are. we know who they are. we know who sent them. we know where they are coming from. i would say we are coming for them. we already killed several of those that participated in the attacks against us in the butchery of our babies in their bedrooms. it's an h open book. we are taking notice all of these terrorists. no matter where they are, we will get to them. we're very confident and determined that this can never happen again. that's why we are destroying hamas in its entirety. >> a major watching this video calm out of the weekend wearing

administration, antony blinken, secretary of state has been in israel for five days. he's trying to figure out how to make sure that israel can do what it needs to do and try to shore up that support. i know that concern right now, we'll get more of this later in our hour with terrific guests coming up. iran saying, they will help. perhaps, they already are. >> week ago today, we were on the five together. i said keep an eye on the united nations. they have not been a friend to israel. this crossed about two hours ago. u.n. security council will vote on rival draft resolutions with regard to israel and gaza later on monday. what these draft resolutions offer, we don't know yet. i think based on history, we're going to see a pretty lopsided vote between the world on one

especially as there are americans who are presumed taken hostage by hamas. >> let's bring in tennessee senator bill haggerty. thank you for europ your time. president biden was on "60 minutes," he warned israel about occupying gaza again. here's the question about iran and whether or not there was evidence backed through tehran. >> is iran behind the gaza war? >> i don't want to get into classified information, but to be blunt with you, there's no clear evidence of that. >> at this point, no evidence that iran is behind any of this? >> correct. iran constantly supports hamas and hezbollah. in terms whether they had helpd planned attack, there's no evidence of that. >> i have heard you speak about
6:24 am
iran in wow a very aggressive terms. can you counter that? can you refute that answer there? >> i certainly can. anybody thinks that iranian funds, technology know how aren't behind this, they need to wake up. hamas has acknowledged iran's role. hezbollah acknowledged iran's role. we know what happened when president trump imposed maximum pressure on iran. we took their funds flow down. hamas and hezbollah were going broke because their lifeline to iran was running thin. what happens happened when the biden administration came in when they went back to the appeasement process. the same process that brought the violence that we saw in gaza back in 2014 and 2015 when biden came in office, we seen the appeasement process, delivered billions of dollars to iran that's replenished the fund flow back to hamas and back to hezbollah. that is the exact what we saw in 20012021.
6:25 am
i cannot believe that joe biden will not acknowledge iran's role. >> there were 260 people killed at that music festival. i think there were 3500 in attendance. if there were 20,000 in attendance, hamas could have killed 20,000. we know now what their decision would have been. they were out to inflict the greatest loss of life possible. now the question is what to do. back to "60 minutes" from last night, here's the question about gaza and occupation. >> would you support israeli occupation of gaza at this point? >> i think it will be a big mistake. what happened in gaza in my view, is hamas and extreme elements of hamas don't represent all of the palestinian
6:26 am
people. i think that it would be a mistake for israel to occupy gaza again. >> what do you think will happen? what do you think the best course of action will be for israel and future security? >> bill, president biden needs to keep up with the facts. israel already said they will not occupy gaza. he needs to keep up with that. he needs to make certain that diplomatic efforts match our military efforts to achieve deterrence. we're not doing that now. we need to snap back sanctions immediately. they worked during the trump administration. they are not working under biden. we need to bring back maximum pressure. we need to cut off the funds flow to iran which will have an immediate impact on hamas and hezbollah. what should israel do, israel need to do what they can do. they are totally capable of addressing hamas. i think we need to understand that there's going to be a
6:27 am
tremendous amount of propaganda coming from gaza. we know hamas told their people not to leave even though the israeli defense force is encouraging civilians to leave gaza. they don't want them involved. hamas leadership are telling people in gaza, not to leave their homes. they want to see this carnage take place. they don't care about their people. israel need to make this clear. >> iranian leadership met over the weekend with the leaders of hamas. the relationship there is pretty solid, sir. thank you for your time. we'll be in contact throughout the week. he's a republican senator from tennessee. thank you. i'm intrigued to see what members of congress on both sides say about the u.n. making a decision today to vote on rival resolutions. this will be very telling. there's lot of tension at the u.n. i think there's not a lot of trust in the u.n. and the credibility has degraded. they speak from place of

gathering there, hoping to get into egypt. egypt is keeping that border at moment firmly closed. they frankly, do not want a refugee crisis of their own. they do not want hundreds of thousands up to a million palestinians crossing into their country. that border is closed. it's also important to point out that is an area of the gaza strip where the israeli soldier was taken in 2006 when he was kidnapped. there was a high likelihood you see on the map there, bottom right of the screen and rafah itself, at least some of the 199 hostages including americans may be being held by hamas right now. it is a densely populated city. rafah itself less so. very difficult for the israelis to operate.
6:35 am
they went in there in 2006 looking for him days after he was kidnapped as our viewers know very well. they failed to find him was held for five years. good portion of that time we believe was in the suburban end of the gaza strip. the israelis have to go in there as well, it will be a nightmarish operation just as it will in the north. at the moment, the egyptians don't want any part of this. they do not want palestinians flooding in their country. the rrafah border remains close. the build up of people there becoming bigger. that makes it more and more complex as anybody begins to contemplate any sort of hostage rescue situation. >> dana: let's bring in david, former army staff sergeant for actions in the battle of

fallujah. now we're talking about over 150 hostages. we're talking the kind of combat that very few have seen. you have seen it. what will be the difference between what you saw in fallujah and something like the israelis are planning now? >> well, good morning, dana. in our story with fallujah, this was a population center that was cleared out of civilians. we had six months going after al qaeda all over the world. they all congregated in fallujah just to fight us, worried about hostages. when you got machine guns pointed at doors. fallujah is a city roughly side of tampa bay, florida. to clear a city and worry about all these other things these idf forces have. the focus for the israelis is to

keep it simple. focus on what's in front of you. right now, in all of this delay, hamas is literally wiring buildings to blow. in the back of these israeli soldiers heads will be the same thing americans had in november 2004. even if we do everything right, even if we gauge these terrorists, they could still blow up this entire city block. it's about taking us out. that's what they are there to do. hamas has no respect for humanity. you can take terrorists out and still lose an entire house, lose an entire building and marines. all of these things are in the back of the head oe who kicks through a door. you got for -- you got to stay sane. it's all about leadership at the small level keeping soldiers focused. >> bill: you describe a scenario. this is super difficult of the highest military order.

you're concerned we need to bring this war in ukraine to a close with a victory for ukraine, why are we allowing iran to supply russia with missiles. >> dana: we just learned that the u.n. general -- u.n. secretary security council is going to vote today on two rival resolutions. i wonder what you think about the administration's diplomacy efforts. we know that antony blinken, secretary of state, was in the region for four days. he's now back in israel trying to deal with some of this. what do you expect out of the u.n. security council today? >> reporter: we should expect very little out of the security council in general. obviously, people pushing hamas's agenda. same people that you see on the streets on university campuses. they exist in the u.n. they will be pushing to try to make this a moral equivalency between israel and hamas.
6:50 am
there is none. more importantly, we should think about the messages sent into the region by the something. on the one hand, great, heart felt statements by the president expressing sympathy. on the other hand, continuing to allow qatar to negotiate with hamas to host hamas leaders, turkey as well with hamas offices there. we need to have a clear policy. it's very disconnect. are we for people harboring hamas or against? are we for putting money into iran or against putting money into iran. >> dana: listen to john kirby. he was on fox news sunday yesterday how he says the administration is holding iran accountable. >> in this administration, we have in the just two and a half years the president has been in office, 400 entity sanctions for a range of reasons. 30 additional sanction regimes just in the last year. we've increased our military presence.
6:51 am
this idea this we're turning a blind eye as iran supports terrorists, it's not true. >> dana: your reaction to that? >> john kirby knows better. the sanctions have been imposed have been symbolic. they'll roll out a press release saying we are sanctioning iran's drone program. on wednesday, they'll let the u.n. missile embargo lift. $6 billion dollars out of south korea, $10 billion out of iraq, allowing china to import more oil from iran. let's get real. follow the money. it's time they are serious about cracking down on iran's terror infrastructure and holding the parent company responsible for what they have just done this massacre. we heard more about from jim tobin. how can you talk to american families with hostages right now in gaza with dead americans,
6:52 am
blood on hamas and iran's hands and say we're going to keep giving money to this regime. it has to stop. >> dana: rif -- >> bill: antony blinken has been meeting with leaders. he is back meeting with benjamin netanyahu today. that meeting either is wrapping or it is about to wrap. blinken says he talked about humanitarian aid for gazans or for the innocents who are still there in gaza. netanyahu for his part, says that there will be struggles and sacrifices. we will win. what sort of collaboration or mutually agreed upon strategy blinken may or may not have achieved with round robin of leaders in the region.

in my view, it holds the future for the fate of this entire conflict in his hands. if they stay together at least publicly anyway, there's a real good chance that through a regional leadership once this gazan war is over, you might be able to get a firm footing yet again in the middle east. that's down the road for now. we'll see what he say about that. meanwhile, there's let's go to florida now. late last night, this is the governor ron desantis greeting floridians who evacuated from israel. last thursday he said his teams will send airplanes to israel. they did. about 300 americans arrived in tampa. they signed that executive order on thursday to help extra -- extradition, the american government out of washington and other things. this is what desantis did. some other countries who we reported out last week have beat us to the punch. places like hungary and india.
6:54 am
what desantis's team said last week, there are 20,000 americans who want to leave israel. that's an extraordinary number. the state department hasn't given that number. that's what the leadership in florida believes now is the need on behalf of those who want to get out. we see where it goes. 300 back to florida. >> dana: this story. 6-year-old boy and mother hospitalized after an alleged hate crime motivated by the israel-hamas war. garrett is live. >> reporter: justice department opened a hate crimes investigation. we want to warn viewers, some of the details are hard to hear. the mother came to the u.s. from palestine 12 years ago to escape violence. sat morning, she was at home with her son when her landlord knocked on the door, when she opened the door, police say the 71-year-old attack, choking and stabbing her with a military
