the students like maya just graduated not long ago. if you're a jewish student where your professor has an anti-israeli view, you feel pretty alone in that classroom. >> let me be clear, they're not anti-israel protests or positions. this is anti-semitism, clear and pure anti-semitism and universities in the united states today especially in the ivies are not safe for -- ivies are not safe for the jewish students and professors are making speeches and saw at columbia university at a business professor and can't keep them safe on the campus and happening from uc berkeley to all the ivy league institutions all over and result of de-humanization of the jewish people all over the worship god. it's not about israel but anti-semitism. >> steve: you're here to tell the american public what's going on. mark, you lost half your family,
4:51 am
your sister, her husband and three kids were kidnapped. you are going here to capitol hill today to plead for their lives. to get something from them but what can they do? >> i will tell you just this, my family, they live near gaza because they believe in coexistence and believe in peace, we believe in peace. we are properly -- more than hamas and the protesters that think they're protesting for the palestinians. they protest against the palestinians because they help the hamas and they're supporters to keep this cycle that hurts and harms the palestinians for many, many years and we want to see the palestinians thrive and prosper and live in safety keeping our families, our children and women and adults in captivity there will not make any progress for palestinians and just hold them back and the protesters think they help

something. they just keep and it's been going on for many, many decades and i'm old enough ho hear that and see that. >> steve: adele, you were in a safe room and luckily they could not get in and you could hear them speaking arabic on the other side of the ball and a number of people in your kibbutz were murdered in cold blood and you're here to tell america what about those people? some people say it never happened. >> you know, i'm american-born, i was an educator for four decades, and i appreciate the education system in america, and i expect the american students to be intelligent enough to listen to the truth and not to be led by propaganda, by pop list ick propaganda because the people in my community captured
4:53 am
and murdered, they were grandmothers, they were children, they were -- this is not a war, these are not soldiers. this is a war crime against civilians. we need our american students and american people to be on the right side of history on this. >> steve: yeah. netta, your parents were kidnapped by hamas. they are somewhere. you're a student, you were staying in a dorm essentially. and you were next door and they took your parents. so for you, when you hear about the protests and everything else going on in this country, you know, on this show, we proudly stand with israel on this against the hamas terrorists. what would you like to tell the people about what happened to your family? >> i want to tell you that i
4:54 am
don't blame them for not believing it. i don't entirely believe it myself. but all this happened and it just happened. i will acknowledge but that you don't judge us and i don't claim to understand what twisted minds think that it somehow is justified because they slaughtered and kidnapped innocent people. this is an act that no human being can do. >> steve: they're your parents. >> and i want them back so bad. i just want my parents back.
4:55 am
>> steve: we all want them back. hamas says they're holding 222 people. >> these aren't numbers. each person kidnapped is a life and a family and a story and someone that loves music and certain foods and has kids they love and they're not just numbers. >> steve: they're not just numbers. >> they're there for no reason at all. >> my friend that's a american citizen who was out walking sunrise walk with her also american citizen husband. the most wonderful, kind hearted woman she was ateacher, she worked with children with special needs. judy [inaudible] and she's gone. she's gone. >> steve: she's gone. >> they just took her. we have no idea. >> steve: you hope they were
4:56 am
kidnapped because then think would be alive. because then the possibility, there's been no proof of life for any of them. >> i don't know because we don't know what they're doing to them if they're kidnapped. the torr meant and torture and -- torment and torture and what they're doing. i don't know what's best. >> steve: thank you for sharing your stories and you're all going to come back in an hour with more stories about what happened. all right. ainsley, back to you. >> thank you. >> ainsley: steve, what -- very touching. yeah, they're not just numbers. they're human beings, individuals, and we love them and pray for them. thank you, steve. our next guest is a palestinian woman whose father was born and raised in gaza and is calling out the rhetoric we've seen slamming the growth index teskying displays -- grotesque displays on campuses and she's the president of free hearts, free minds, and she joins us now. good morning.
4:57 am
>> ainsley: tell us the story of your father and mother. >> my mother and father were two complete opposite people and surprise their marriage didn't last and i haven't spoken to her in around 20 years and not sure if she's one of the people celebrating hamas right now. she's a scholar at the university in egypt and she's viciously anti-semitic. it's quite common to be anti-semitic when you're from egypt or from any other muslim majority countries.
4:58 am
my father on the other hand was not. he was very -- he was a humanist, he was very he was not anti-jew. he had many criticisms of the israeli government, especially netanyahu, but he did recognize of course there is no question that his home of palestine, his home of gaza was under a much more civil government when they were being under the british rule, egyptian and even israeli rule, he recognize things went downhill with yassar afafat and with hamas things have been atrocious. >> ainsley: what is your message for people praising at these pro-palestinian or pro-hamas rallies really? >> we were listening to the
4:59 am
people speaking before this. saying i can't believe it, i can barely believe it myself. i'm in the same position, i'm reading up on georgetown university buildings projected up there saying, you know, glory to the martyrs and all sorts of other statements. it is really shocking to me because up until now i really was very aware of the antisemitism in the muslim and arab world, but the antisemitism here in the west has been qu quietly bubbling under the surface and you don't think you are going to see it so widespread or see people walking in the streets, "gas the jews," and "f the jews," and i'm not
5:00 am
even a jewish people and i'm having trouble comprehending this. there are people going to school and universities and feeling like, we don't feel safe, we don't feel our children are safe. >> ainsley: let me ask you -- >> it is demonic. >> ainsley: how did hamas come into power. they won the election, is that because people were too scared to vote otherwise, they knew they could be killed if they did? explain how they came to power. >> so when israel left gaza, they -- it was up to them now. this is 9000 israelis left, they exhumed the dead and took them off the land and said this land is yours, and hamas came in with all sorts of promises and not like the people of gaza at this point, the secular government of gaza did not get their act together in time. hamas of course is being funded from dee
