>> covering breaking news from the united states, specifically lewis on the, maine as you see on the right hand side. lewiston had a shooting. the earlier numbers we were given is somebody walked into a bowling alley and opened fire. apparently that same person walked into a restaurant/pool hall and opened fire and fled the scene. the death toll we were given earlier is 22. police are now not giving numbers. of course the number of wounded was given as 30. we do know that there are a

number of victims that ever been taken to local hospitals and are being treated and one of those is a level 2 trauma center surgeons on stand by. >> he is 40-year-old robert card. he is said to be an active reserve issa in firearms. you see him him coming out of the bowling alley. there are pictures of of him coming out the other location mg it's interesting when you look at this because this person is still on the run.

police have found a car they believe belongs to robert card up in lisbon outside lewiston and believe it's his card but have not found the shooter but they believe he is armed dangerous and very lethal. i bring in bill for the lates on what we are hearing and the latest information. >> trace that manhunt is very much still ongoing. we continue to listen in on police scanners. they did announce they found a vehicle of interest in that lisbon area. based off what we are listening to, they're focusing a lot of law enforcement resources, but to rewind, if we can pull up robert card's photo, lewiston police announced this is their

only person of interest in connection with this mass shooting law enforcement sources telling fox news the numbers they have right now are at least 22 people dead and dozens of others injured. we are getting more color. fox news did review internal law enforcement bulletin saying robert card plaza military boundary believe to be part of the army reserve, firearm instructor known to have mental health issues reported voices in his head threatened to shoot up a military base and recently as this summer spent two weeks in a mental health facility and released. those details are going to raise questions how he got that rifle he's holding with mental health

issues going into a facility this summer there are going to be questions how this guy was able to possess a firearm like that. obviously there's a chance he purchased it on the street or it's a ghost gun. the atf will come in sort out those questions once they fight this guy take him down and run emergency traces on that gun where it came from. in the meantime i can tell you a short time ago we got on the phone with a woman. we cold called her. she identified herself a this is sister-in-law of robert card the suspect in this shooting. she told us, yes he's my brother-in-law, of the suspect. police are trying to get more intel on him. what his patterns would be maybe

trying to use the family members to tell him to turn himself but the manhunt ongoing i can tell you a short time ago the local school district lewiston announced there will be no school tomorrow. considering there's a mass shooter hiding in their community if he's in that community. most of the law enforcement response centered in lisbon area where they announced they found a vehicle of interest that's going to be that way subaru outback, police saying this shooting happened earlier this evening just before 7 p.m. eastern time at two separate locations one a bar the other a bowling alley and the alley is where they got the photos of the suspect walking out with that rifle. that there is i'm probably going to pronounce, wrong, the

bowling alley was spare time. the newest information last 30 minimum his name i.d. and boundary again a firearms instructor with a military boundary believed to be army reserve believed to have mental health issues. again list sister-in-law telling us she's with police right now. that means they're with the family trying to determine where this guy is going to be and the car found in the lisbon area and again this happened about 35 miles north of portland, central maine medical center one of the main hospitals out there saying they about no longer taking patient because they were responding to mass casualty shooting event. police held their press conference and announce his

identity, identify him as a person of interest not going as far as saying he's a suspect but did not have a firm count on casualties or those who are dead. that the potentially because we heard those reports that dozens of people are injured up to 50-60 people hurt. now 50-60 injured doesn't necessarily mean 50-60 shot. we see people stampede try to get out of a building. there's potential for these numbers to go up. right now the deadliest mass shooting was vegas in 2015. >> i want to read this so our audience knows if you saw the news conference from police i

want to read what they released and the maine state police is attempt to go locate robert card person of interest regarding at chemingy's bar and restaurant. it says card is a trained fire armed instructor believed to be in the army reserve. according to law enforcement he reported mental health issues including hearing voices and threats. card was also reported to have been committed to mental health facilities for two weeks during the summer of 2023 which is in re-sen months. card was last known to be operating a maine registration. white subaru outback, the subject should be considered armed and dangerous. caution should be used if contact is made with card or the

vehicle and yet quickly and we are going to bring in nicole parker when you got the police news conference here you've got a 5th of that information. they didn't release any of the key information apparent hi reticent because of what we don't know. final thoughts. >> it's important to point out that information about his boundary military service mental health issues firearms instructor coming from internal law enforcement sensitive document put out by maine state police initially sent to law enforcement only that eventually linked to media we got it to fox news and reviewing it. that didn't go out to the public. we are only learning that from this internal document. what went to the public was a quarter of that information. looks like his drivers license photo name person of interest armed dangerous and if you see him call us, that's all the

public got. the color about his boundary talking about mental illness is coming from law enforcement sensitive document which they didn't intend to get to the public. >> i want to bring in nicole parker. thank you for joining us. the content was david played this earlier or showed earlier was the state police documenting his concerns and expertise with weapons and military background and it's true it wasn't meant to go public but it did before police gave their news conference and you would believe nicole that they would address this either change it if it's not correct, say that it is correct if it is and more

information about what they need to know about this person. is that a fair assessment? >> i guarantee there will be more press conferences and more information put out by law enforcement. they're going to err on the side of caution that it's accurate and ready to be presented to the public. i think it's important to know the family members have been approached his sister-in-law. anyone who knows him is being questioned by law enforcement and working with law enforcement. any of those individuals if you know this person and you have contact with this person do not approach them physically but encourage this person to turn themselves in. this is a very sick individual who has had major mental health issues. gone in for two weeks at least.

this is not the type of individual should ever possess firearms they need to report to law enforcement. turn yourself in. this community needs to continue to stay on lockdown. but when you look at those with mental health issues that doesn't make you a dangerous person. it's mental health issues and firearms and potentially planning to threaten individuals. there were definitely stressors. three specifically that caused him to go over the edge. they have an idea but don't act on it whether it was anxiety financial struggle fight with a loved one a grievance that they felt alone or whatever it may have been that is when it is extremely dangerous. this person should never have firearms. i know after the parkland

shooting and the red flag laws, law enforcement is focused on identifying where the individual is, getting as much information as they can. we cannot underestimate it is time to pray for this community. we don't know the number but potential 22 deaths. that reunification center is a tough place to be there. their loved one isn't there. what law enforcement is doing on the crime scene, it is their job to identify each of the deceased individuals. that's not an easy job. it's absolutely horrific. i'm sure family members are being asked to provide pictures to identified the deceased. it's important to understand all the moving parts you don't see

on television. there are loved ones who don't have had their family members and will likely receive a death notice of this individual. everybody needs to shelter in place. this person of interest has not been arrested is not in custody and that's number one priority of law enforcement. people scrubbing social media accounts searching home checking internet searches trying to figure out their mental history medications, mental health check this summer local state federal law enforcement and time to pray for this community. >> thank you for your time. is ted still with us? i want to bring back in ted williams i wondered if you're

surprised when you see the descriptions sent out by state police. i wasn't supposed to be made public. i'm wondering if you hear of a person who self reported that he was having some problems spent couple weeks in a mental health facility armed firearms instructor would that person be a candidate to maintain those firearms and maybe he didn't have legally? but it seems like that wouldn't be the optimal position to put somebody in. >> trace, you are absolutely right. i would have to believe they are going to have to conduct an investigation and see how this guy maintained firearms having been in a mental institution. one of the things we know and you've reported on an army reservist and firearms

instructor so it could be over a long period of time he kept these firearms but there were so many warnings signs here and you would have hoped that someone would have picked up on the warning signs. family members. our members of the army reserve perhaps because what we know is that he was hearing voices that he had these mental problems. we are going to learn at some point or another that mental health could have been a factor but one of the things we know trace is that he targeted these places that would give him the advantage to kill or maim as many people as he could. quite naturally, that bowling

alley was part of the fixation. so, the investigation is going to continue. i would believe that it's more likely that sooner rather than later they are going to come upon him. one of the things we must keep in mind is that he was a military reservist. he knows the woods in the area even around lisbon where they found his car. >> it's a good point ted williams because he seems to be very resourceful so if he is military clearly he's an expert in weapons and makes sense that he worked in the national guard in that area that he would know the area could be resourceful and could be out there for a while. what you're seeing here is auburn, maine what nicole parker the reunification center where the people who believe they have loved ones who have not answered

cell phones will report to get information from police. if i can bring in dr. mark siegel again, we look at this, nicole parker was giving us a detailed thing what a horrifying situation this is for the families, the loved ones, the friends of the victims in this and i wonder if there's a process when they come in. police don't have specific numbers on the wounded or specific numbers on the dead so if you're in the reunification center what's the process to actually identify these bodies and get information to the families the best you know sir? >> great question and of course, as nicole was saying there's a lot of fear and worry and it's tremendous anxiety want to go know and obviously what you want to know is that your loved one is alive even if they're wounded and we heard that going on in

israel that knowing your loved one is alive even if they're wounded, even if they have severe wounds that is what everybody is hoping for so the hospital central maine medical center knows that and they want to get the information out to people as soon as possible that your loved one is alive not for us but for them. you know we want to know the number of wounded how many being treated, triaged in the operating room how many in critical condition but for those loved ones they want to know they're alive. i also want to comment briefly trace about the issue of the suspect or potential suspect robert card. you know, bill did excellent report on this. if he was in a mental health facility hearing voice everybody is going to think of the word schizophrenia. it may not be. it may be delugsz. they usually use anti-psychotic medications to try to get

someone back to reality. if they're experiencing real violent planning with a plan the shoot up a national guard station that is extremely dangerous like nicole parker was saying. that kind of person you would want to release. homicidal ideation and what is your plan. we don't want people on the streets like that or having firearms. >> dr. mark if you would stand by the man right side of the screen is robert card. we are continuing breaking news coverage of a mass shooting in lewiston, maine, about 36 miles from portland and we don't have exact numbers but many, many victim are there and this man who is an expert in firearms is apparently still on the run. they have found his car.

auburn mayor. >> it's unbelievable. we have our force out here plus lewiston county state one thing about maine if you're not from maine when someone is need everybody comes. i've been talking to a lot of our officers that we all should be proud of them. >> that support is beyond maine. >> yes, i've gotten phone calls from around the country tech messages from folks and everybody knows about this on national news but we are going to focus inside our community. we are going to heal our community. we are going to persevere. we are going to get through this. it's no time not to so it will take a while. something like this doesn't just

get solved overnight but we have a strong community. we have overcome a lot. >> it's really relief. >> if you think about it, this is a happier place and the entire area. this is a reunification where witnesses that saw traumatic events come together with family and loved ones so it is happy but on the flip side you're seeing the turmoil and the trauma that they're going through especially the witnesses. unless you've been there you can't describe other than you can feel empathy for them. >> where were the witnesses? >> centralized location. we brought them there. it's going to be a long process but then we brought them once everything was sletdz we can bring them back safely and all

statements taken. that needs to happen. investigation is investigation. >> mayor, in other mass shooting incidents the reunification point has sometimes been a moment where the loved one comes to a tragic realization their relative didn't make it. >> yes. >> have any of those interactions taken place here tonight? >> yes. i'll just leave it at that. >> what sort of process has the hospital workers been doing to connect more people? >> i haven't talked to the hospital directors. they're busy and we all need to respected that. they are working with known vivenlgtsz support networks that trained professionals from the state police as well as local

churches that are trained in crisis response. public officials like a mayor that are somewhat in shock and operating on auto pilot and give information that's somewhat contradictory in nature but as nicole parker brought out earlier at these reunification center you will have law enforcement officers there to do and conduct as many investigations as possible and i can unequivocably tell you that's also going on at the hospital where individuals being treated or trying to get as much information. trace, what you have to realize crime scenes are like puzzles and there are various individuals in law enforcement that are tempted to put together

the puzzle find out what happened why these individuals were shot by perhaps a person of interest as we know him robert card. >> yes. that's right. ted stand by. we have been saying here you can see the bottom of the screen. these are numbers we got. we had a news conference. the lewiston police came out and said they're not going to give numbers because they change but earlier police north gave the numbers bottom screen at least 30 wounded 22 killed in this shooting in maine if you don't it happened at two places one was a pool hall and the other was a bowling alley they are about ten minutes apart. we don't know how many were killed or wounded in each of those places. in fact we don't know the exact number. the police apparently don't know

the exact number. bill malugin has been following in getting a better idea and new information about what the numbers are coming out. >> we are just learning the local sheriff out there gave a interview to the portland press herald he confirmed there are at least 22 people shot dead. 14-16 of them happened at the bar and grill. that would confirm our earlier reporting at least 22 people are dead and the sheriff out there says 14-16 were found at the bar grill the pool hall that would leave the other fatalities likely at the bowling alley so local police did not want to give a number at their press

conference earlier but the local sheriff sampson put out the photos of the suspect with that gun in the bowling alley early he is confirming to the portland press herald at least 22 confirmed dead, 14-16 happened at that bar and grill. >> any numbers with the wounded? we know 30 on the screen will did the sheriff talk about wounded? >> it's been described as dozens. sounds like the number of wounded is fluid and the number likely going to go up as well as the fatalities. >> it's an awful scene. we are going to take a break. we are in jerusalem covering the war in israel and on the other side of break we will continue our news conference of the shooting in lewiston maine. at least 22 dead from the sheriff and dozens wounded.

of the white house would like to be informed of what is happening. we have learned that the president has had an opportunity to speak with the governor of maine as well as senators king and collins from the great state of maine. >> i checked my last here. also congressional lawmakers in maine offering federal supported, offering the full weighted of the federal government in any way possible. what is interesting here tonight is given the fact it was a state dinner and the president busy being updated constantly on what's happening in maine i think is not only the right move from a policy perspective but it's also important the white house get the message out not just to congressional lawmakers

described it as the largest raid than previously carried out ground forces having a relatively large incursion so there's been conversations the last 24 hours when a ground incursion could take place and we heard from prime minister benjamin netanyahu dancing around those questions not saying whether that would happen. it was a matter when. no spoefrk word if this will turn into the potential ground expansion and invasion that has been talked about for weeks but we have seen more attacks across the country. we can show footage in tel aviv. we went to the site of a rocket gaza that landed about 5 miles from here. it blew up part of an apartment

vacuum. he did clarify that in the last 24 hours saying he fully condemned any attacks on both sides of this conflict. in tel aviv we have seen for signs of hostages taken in the last couple of weeks. now there's a new display up of teddy bears that are bloody and blindfolded to symbolize the children taken hostage by hamas. in the city as you well know a lot of these areas are more full with people who are from all across the country roughly 250,000 people evacuated from parts of israel that pain that desperation that sense of grief is felt here and again as we know with this potential change that we are seeing and what israelis will wake up to, we will wait to hear from prime
