40-year-old robert card. he is the prime suspect in the mass shooting that took the lives of at least 18 people and hurt more than a dozen others. >> multiple law enforcement agencies from state and federal and local are teaming up in the search. warning the public that he is armed and dangerous. >> >> lawrence: i'm here in maine outside the lewiston police department all morning long. nate foy is also on the ground here with the latest of what is happening with the investigation. nate, what can you tell us? >> lawrence, 36 hours into this manhunt now on day number two, there is no defined search perimeter. ainsley mentioned how additional federal resources are being brought in. that includes the border patrol bortac unit. the tactical unit that recently caught that escaped prisoner in chester county, pennsylvania hoar here locally state

resources are scattered out. they focused on a home in bowdoin last night. that's where robert card lives. for a moment it appeared they thought he was inside. take a listen here. >> you are under arrest. will [inaudible] ♪ >> so maine state police confirmed they served search warrants at the home. no gunshots were fired. after about two hours they left with no sign of card. authorities did find his white subaru at a boat landing in nearby lisbon, maine. so there are concerns that he may be on a boat. the u.s. coast guard confirms with fox that aviation units are searching booth behar bore. it's about 50 miles east of where we are in lewiston.

here is the lisbon police chief talking about the investigation. >> this is active scene in lisbon. we are not going to narrow it down to any area. obviously can you see we are in specific areas. it's due to different evidence that's been obtained. >> card is accused of murdering 18 people and injuring 13 more at a bowling alley and bar wednesday night. at least three victims remain in critical condition. card is wanted for eight murders technically right now. authorities say they expect that number to increase to 18 when they identify the 10 remaining victims. now, one of the people murdered you see here in the middle was joseph walker. his father talked about what he has been going through since losing his son. i go to church, i believe in the lord. i believe in jesus christ. but why do we have to go through these kind of miserable, miserable times? this has never happened in our

two cities. i know if my son was here with me. he would say he was sorry for all the others that were lost and the families that are going through what i'm going through right now. >> just devastating to hear. you can hear more from leroy walker in an interview on "fox & friends" coming up at 8:30. take a look at the kind of suspect that authorities are dealing with card is army reservist with documented mental health issues that police say included hearing voices and threats to carry out a shooting at a national guard base in maine. we are also learning that border officials in canada are on alert to make sure that card isn't trying to go north and get up into canada. of as for things here in maine, the shelter in place order remains in effect. businesses are still closed. you pretty much just see members of the media for the most part as well as law enforcement on the streets. we'll send it back to you. >> ainsley: thanks so much, nate. lawrence is out there hosting

live from lewiston. what are you seeing, lawrence? are you seeing a lot of cars? so many are on lockdown right now. >> lawrence: not many people are on the streets. except for, you know, law enforcement officials little stragglers here and there. but i think everyone knows the danger that this guy poses. he is not your usual suspect. i has the capability to take even law enforcement outs that's why you see medicined this to dick call approach. they are doing it by the books. fbi swat team, local swat team clearing all of these locations out so they can make sure the suspect isn't there. bortac is now on the ground and that's critical they will be a able to search the terrain. they have experience in that they hunt people for a living.

they are tough. you make mistakes. you kiss a lot of pigs trying to get there sooner or later you get him. one of the players you are not mentioning here is you. the media plays a huge role in these cases about public siding the appearance, the pictures of the bad guys and private citizens i saw him. he is over at the mcnaughtens or whatever. it's a multi-pronged approach catching bad guys. frankly, we shouldn't be here. we had a total breakdown in society with this guy. he should have been in a mental institution. and he wasn't. he is out trying to kill us. >> ainsley: you know, danny, what is happening behind the scenes? because we saw what was his name? cleaflt, the guy who shimmied up the wall of the prison a lot of things we found out tracking him. we hear tracking cell phones. we hear tracking credit cards. what are they doing behind the scenes to try to find him? >> oh my gosh, a ton of things.

it's a huge project. you have state, local, federal officials. the fbi should should be heavily involved in. this hostage rescue team along with bortac very best man hunters in the world when you talk about rural environments. they are going through cell phones. talking to anybody he has ever known. they are getting the word out. and they need to be getting the word out away from the scene. he could be in california. it's been that long. and if he had a switch car there, he should be getting -- he f. he has sense he will leave that area. i don't know if he will. these guys are not that good at evading capture except for rudolph very good at him. we didn't catch him forever. basic coordination. remember, the fbi has on ground presence in maine all the time. they know who we are. we know who they are. work together every day. and this helps. citizens need to be very, very

comfortable. i know it's probably not politically correct arm themselves. you don't want this guy to break into your house and you are defenseless. it's a terrible situation. i don't know how we deal with it. our congress, our legislators are not dealing with it. society is not deal with it. and we are going to be faced with it for a time to come. >> lawrence: danny, we are praying for law enforcement as you hunt this guy down. can you talk about the difficulty when you have got a suspect like in this has the capability with firearms and you don't know what firearms he has. you know, this is a mass effort but you have got local cops as well and some of these guys trained to gets in the stack. talk about the safety measures that law enforcement are approaching this type of suspect? >> well, need to be careful. we know what kind of gun he has. he has optical site on it

extremely fast and deadly. we are trained to do this do this for a living do it all the time they practice against each other. they run against delta. delta runs against us. so you plan to take on worst-case scenarios. let me tell you something, this guy is terrified. he is going to have a hard time even staying awake. he is going to make mistakes. if is he in a rural environment. you know what we got on our side? bugs. mosquitoes, all kinds of things. i had one guy surrender to me because he got eaten up by mosquitoes, he was a big terrorist. a lot of things working against him, too. we need to remember that they don't -- they make mistakes. i don't know we just hope they make mistakes. >> brian: do you think drugs could play a role here? do you think could be part of his mental breakdown could be

still maintains their ability to fire on major population centers. just a few moments ago in israel's second largest city of tel aviv, hundreds of thousands of people headed to bomb shelters as rockets were intercepted overhead. we were just in tel aviv at israel's version of the pentagon. meeting with israeli defense minister gallant. i spoke with gallant along with a small group of journalists about the war and the latest information he has he on the ongoing efforts of israel to destroy hamas. i could want to talk about the potential of a ground operation because first time since this conflict we got new information from the defense minister. i asked him how long this would last once the ground operation does begin. he said it's not a matter weeks but rather months. now, he wouldn't provide us with a precise date, understandably, about when this is expected to start. but there are plans underway for the israelis to go into gaza. and destroy not just military with you also governing capabilities of hamas.

i will have more on that conversation later today. but it does come as we follow developments across the region and those u.s. strikes in eastern syria overnight conducted by american f-16s against iranian linked positions in eastern syria. at this base. u.s. secretary lloyd austin releasing a statement saying, quote: these narrowly tailored strikes in self-defense were intended solely to protect and defend u.s. personnel in iraq and syria. they're separate and distinct from the ongoing conflict between israel and hamas. this is significant because since the conflict developed on october 7th, following that massacre here in southern israel, we have seen a number of attacks on not just israeli interest across the region, but also american interest. and it also comes as we are learning more about a possible attempt to strike israel from yemen overnight. iranian backed houthi rebels there. launching at least two drones that actually landed in egypt injuring at least six people. so, clearly a number of developments taking place on the ground. the israelis continuing their strikes against gaza overnight
