>> jesse: fox news alert. israel's ground invasion of gaza has begun. tanks are in the strip. they're launching raids against hamas targets all over the border. the israeli government says tonight is the night. >> they will feel the wrath. all the international community that saw the crimes, atrocity that hamas is responsible for, we are going to destroy hamas, in doing so eradicating a despicable enemy of all humanity.
5:02 pm
>> israel naval battalion conducted a egyseige. watch. why did israel wait so long? sources tell primetime that hostage negotiations had collapsed because of what hamas was offering, the israelis realized hamas wasn't serious, was using hostage negotiations to delay the ground invasion. now israel has one focus, completely decimate the terrorist presence to their south. the idf shut out the lights in gaza, no internet or cell phones. a blackout. they received the highest level of intensintensity. a bunker buster bomb was
5:03 pm
dropped in gaza, to demolish tunnels. bunker busters penetrate 100 feet deep, explode horizontally, and vertically. they were used in afghanistan and iraq. this is what they look like in action. israeli tactics remain surgical because hamas put their headquarters behind the hospital. >> they operate inside the hospital, other hospitals in gaza, with network. hamas has an entrance to those tunnels from inside the hospital wards, meaning from different places of the hospital, you can go into an underground tunnel, we provide shelter. we have concrete evidence
5:04 pm
hundreds of terrorists flooded into the hospital to hide there after the massacre of october 7th. >> once the idf takes the war underground, we are not broadcasting images all over the world any more. the war will be won or lost in the dark. joining me now, retired brigadier general anthony tata and major michael glofr. all right. this is it. >> yeah, roger that, jesse, great to be with you. they're developing intelligence, doing intelligence preparation of the battlefield, and it seems like they've identified the key areas that they need to go. they've brought in some envelopment, you saw the naval forces and this team has apparently developed a very clear picture of where the enemy is. obviously below the hospital, they want to know where the civilians are and where the hostages
5:05 pm
are, and it is a ph.d. problem with a three-dimensional battlefield, high-rises and rubble in the streets and the tunnels that you mentioned. this is something that took some time to develop that battlefield picture, and now they've been able to move logistics into place, they want to get to gaza, take enough terrain, tighten logistics, make sure they have 360 degree security because tunnels go everywhere, they don't know where they all are, and what they don't want to do is get so deep into gaza that they envelope themselves when hamas comes out the back side. seems to me that israel has taken the time they need to develop this picture, now get after it in a way that they can be successful as netanyahu said, which is to destroy hamas. >> glover, when the infantry makes this first
5:06 pm
contact with the enemy on the ground, what kind of intelligence picture are they going to get immediately? >> well, it's called sensitive sight exploitation. pa basically taking evidence off the bad guys, worst of the bad guys or terrorists in the hamas is the worst of the worst. these are the guys that carried all their operational plans on their kit when they attacked israel, that exploitation on the ground is very important. it's going to create a better picture, more refined picture like the general said, operation preparation of the environment has been taking place. now they're going to be flexing target to target, gathering intel off the bat he will field, poe continuationly giving them a more refined picture where the hostages are. >> when they're in there, are they mostly facing sniper fire? is it mostly a defensive
5:07 pm
posture by hamas? >> yeah. it is going to be that urban warfare, block to block, using snipers, using rpgs, ambushes, i am p proadvised explosives. if they're backed by iran, you'll see similar tactics used used against us in iraq. i wouldn't be surprised if some of the most difficult fighting that israel ever faced. >> tata, were you surprised with the naval action, assault from the south, did you see that coming? >> well, i'm not surprised by anything the ief does, they're innovative, creative, have good leadership. to me, the pause that everybody was wondering what was happening, i knew that they would be coming up with something creative to be able to maneuver and get the enemy fixed, focused away from the northern border of gaza
5:08 pm
with israel, and why not, what hezbollah is doing to israel, making them look in two directions, why not force hamas to look in multiple directions and get them off balance. i think it is a creative way to start this. it seems like they're getting a good set, and they'll be able to have two fronts, which is a good thing, as long as they keep the logistics coming in from the sea. >> all right. gentlemen, thank you guys so much. >> thank you, jesse. >> thank you. >> let's get a wide look on the ground near the israel, lebanon border. fox senior correspondent steve harrigan is there. steve, what's up? >> we've been hearing explosions about two miles behind me in lebanon through much of the afternoon, that's israelis returning fire against hezbollah in lebanon. for the past two weeks, hezbollah backed by iran, a terrorist organization has been lobbying anti-tank missiles into
5:09 pm
israel into communities in the north, so it is a low level battle for two weeks. the real question is is that battle going to get bigger, is there going to be a second front opened up by the more powerful hezbollah against israel. iran's foreign minister today said hezbollah has its finger on the trigger, certainly ominous words from the iran foreign minister. we have seen protests in lebanon on a daily basis, people trying to push hezbollah forward, saying they should play a more active role in the fight. >> we call on human rights organizations to at least look into children's rights and human rights. are they okay with people being brutally bombed? does that comply with international laws? on the contrary, it does not. >> what hezbollah does next could depend on the ground operation. if there are high civilian casualties, there could be a lot of pressure on hezbollah to join the fight in a much bigger
5:10 pm
way, despite warnings from israel and the u.s. in northern israel, tens of thousands of israelis are on the move, leaving their houses and the border area out of concerns what might be ahead. you drive in order in israel, people tell you bring food, bring everything you need. it is turning into a ghost town up here now. jesse, back to you. >> thanks, steve. stay safe out there. well, gavin newsom pulse a beto o'rourke straight ahead. j.p. morgan wealth management knows it's easy to get lost in investment research. get help with j.p morgan personal advisors. hey, david! ready to get started? work with advisors who create a plan with you, and help you find the right investments. so great getting to know you, let's take a look at your new investment plan. ok, great! this should have you moving in the right direction. thanks jen. get ongoing advice; and manage your investments in the chase mobile app.

37%. the war in israel which biden politically associated himself with is damaging his support with democrats, young democrats. not too hot on biden to begin with, associate the israeli issue with social justice and are strongly siding against biden. the hamas caucus, huge headache, minorities turning against biden over support for israel. muslim americans souring on biden, and michigan has a lot of them. trump is now tied with biden in michigan. any erosion of muslim support in michigan can cost biden the white house. biden lost 11 points with democrats nationally. with two wars and record inflation, the undercard sees an opening. kamala harris and gavin newsom are jockeying for position. newsom is in china. and kamala is doing a big interview on "60 minutes,"
5:17 pm
right after the chiefs game. big opportunity for kamala, she can rebrand herself for the 11th time. cbs released some teaser clips. not good. they know kamala and biden don't talk. joe skips all their lunches and sends her in the opposite direction anytime there's a major event, tosses her a couple of projects he knows she can't figure out, let's her take the in coming from the press. kamala says they're best friends. >> how often do you meet with him? >> multiple times a day. >> you consider yourself partners? >> absolutely. >> cbs then snuck in the knife and twisted it. >> concerns among democrats about whether the biden/harris ticket can win re-election. that is a concern and a legitimate concern. >> our democracy is on the line, bill, and i frankly in my head do not have time for parlor games.
5:18 pm
>> kamala isn't even thinking about the election, but there's one guy that is. newsom still in china. and he's having the time of his life. the chinese took gavin to all their special spots, showed him two trees that twisted into one. they said it symbolizes our need to collaborate. then they showed him a lion statue which symbolizes china's strength. then newsom went to the forbidden city in beijing. >> it is spectacular. put your own short life in perspective. >> took the palace to humble newsom. that's good. nothing had more profound impact on his heart than the great wall of china. newsom saw firsthand one of the most ancient examples why walls work. so what did he learn? >> well, tear down the walls and reconcile our differences at the end of
5:19 pm
the day. this has soymbolism. i don't want this to be the future, i don't want to keep erecting walls like this in the future. i think that's fundamentally what this trip is about, it is not about closeness, it is about an open hand. >> he wants to tear down the great wall of china. last time we approached them with an open hand and they coughed in it and we ended up locked down for a year. he is there to take pictures and pretend he has foreign policy chops. a serious person wouldn't pose like this and then send out that shot to the press. the last guy that did that was beto. remember how that worked out? democrats have a huge choice to make and biden might not be the option. so it is between gavin and kamala. good luck in '24. monica crowley, host of the monica crowley podcast. what's going on? >> the governor of california is posing over

5:22 pm
brokers want joe gone. they're trying to clean up kamala because the most devoted voting block are black women. they don't want to alienate black women if they dump joe. she's the most unpopular vice president in u.s. history. >> she doesn't look at the polls. >> she's full of it. she's full of it. but they have to try to play nice with her because you don't want to alienate black female voters, right, they're going to try to clean her up but they cannot run her. so there is an opening. what they're trying to do, also why i think congressman dean phillips is running against joe biden in the democratic primary, they're trying to make it safe for candidates. this guy, dean flipz doesn't know, this guy just announced he is going to primary joe biden, he is a democrat.
5:23 pm
i never heard of him. apparently he owns ice cream parlors. he thinks joe looks weak, i've got a shot. >> they're running him like a rabbit around a race track, trying to make it safe for other candidates, newsom, mrs. obama. >> did you say obama? >> mrs. obama maybe. >> you bad girl. you can't say that. come on. we'll see. monica, thanks so much. >> a pleasure. thanks. >> jesse: fox news alert. los angeles police arresting a man fortress passing on the 2004 candidate rfk jr.'s property two times within a one day period. this comes as kennedy continues to beg joe biden to give him secret service prot protection. christina coleman is here with the latest. >> hi, jesse. that's right. a 28-year-old l.a. area

real estate agent was arrested not once but twice wednesday for entering the property of presidential candidate rfk jr. he is accused of climbing the fence. he was home both times. lapd says the first time he trespassed was around 9:30 wednesday morning. he was detained by kennedy's private security, arrested, served an emergency protective order and released. but that didn't stop him from trying again. he was arrested the same day just hours later at rfk's property. this time for violating the emergency protective order he was served earlier that day. in a statement, rfk jr.'s campaign says his private security was already aware of the suspect and referred to him as an obsessed individual. his security firm already notified secret service about this guy and shared what they called alarming communications to the presidential candidate. rfk jr. says this suspect sent him, listen to this,

435 emails in a three-month period, including one last week which was about him getting a, quote, bullet in his brain. very disturbing. again, the suspect had apparently sent this to rfk jr. last month, his campaign manager urged president biden to provide secret service protection to him. now, most primary candidates do not get this kind of security, but keep in mind, rfk jr.'s uncle, president john f. kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and almost five years later, rfk jr.'s father senator bobby kennedy was assassinated here in los angeles in 1968, while he was running for president in the democratic primaries. rfk jr. is running as an independent. his campaign sent a new request for protection to department of homeland security this week, and it is the third formal request. jesse? >> unbelievable. it is time to give him the secret service at this point. a lot of emails and a lot

means the man understands logistics and knows how to manufacture bombs. bounty hunters believe the man booby trapped a cabin, set up a sniper position. a good chance he crossed the border into canada. he is not a truckers, trudeau will probably leave him alone. the search expanded in the main woods which is coinciding with hunting season. authorities banned hunting in several areas, but the sound of rifles with be popping through the cold maine air for weeks, adding to intensity and fear. wa wa walter dunfee lost seven friends. >> i have had very little sleep. when i wake up it is almost like a sweat, panic, then kind of hoping you were in a nightmare type thing. i go to that bowling alley regularly. i was supposed to go there that night and i have been working too much lately, i decided i wanted to stay

5:34 pm
mass shooter in texas. do you think these guys are the tip of the speer? >> i think they are, jesse. the circumstances really require you to bring in the experts in the different areas, these guys are certainly experts in man tracking. what a challenging set of circumstances they're dealing with with the terrain there in maine, and certainly with hunting season coming up as you mentioned earlier, the challenge of having more people in the woods than normal, i think they brought experts in to do this, and as far as law enforcement perspective, that's what we need to do. we need to bring in people that are really good at these different facets to bring this guy to justice. >> jesse: what does that look like. you have legit hunters out with rifles, either perched in trees or walking around. you're going to have a mass shooter walking around with a rifle. people aren't going to know if he is a hunter or not, people may think wait a second, is that robert
5:35 pm
card, then you have law enforcement and the fbi and locals, u.s. marshals, everybody walking the woods with rifles. that has to be the most insane thing i've ever heard. >> like i said, one of the most challenging set of circumstances we can deal with. i would hope the hunters in the area would have enough understanding that maybe this hunting season is going to be shortened hunting season because certainly having them in the woods just throws another wrench into this problem. i feel confident that the law enforcement in that area are using all the technology that's available to them, from drones to helicopters, forward looking infrared, they're going to be doing a lot of things on the technology side and certainly minimizing the human footprint in the woods would be a benefit to law enforcement as they look for the suspect. >> jesse: does this guy look like he's outsmarted law enforcement so far? >> you know, jesse, i been thinking of this all day since we talked about
5:36 pm
coming on the show. i think there are two ends of the spectrum i put him in. i think he is either dead in the woods with a bullet in his brain or he is one of the more complex and more advanced thinkers for an active shooter that we've seen in this country for a long time. his planning could be extremely extensive. we are finding clues along the way. i trust law enforcement that they're taking each of those clues, giving them the respect that it deserves, but you're talking about the proverbial needle in a haystack from outside looking in, and they're going to have to take each of those clues, look at them under the microscope. >> jesse: that's the best assessment we heard so far. dead in the woods from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head or this guy is a brilliant mass shooter. thank you so much. really appreciate your analysis. >> yes, sir. thank you. >> jesse: the killer knows
5:37 pm
the thick maine wilderness like the back of his hand. if he escaped to the woods, impossible to track him down fast. neighbors and co-workers say he is an experienced outdoorsman, knows how to fish and hunt. he might have a smasmallcabin or tent. helicopters and drones will be circling the wilderness for weeks, months, as long as it takes. hoping to catch movement on their infrared cameras while blood hounds try to pick up the scent. if the killer dodges law enforcement, he has to survive a brutal maine winter, brutal. below freezing temperatures, ice, snow, and wind. how long can he last? dave canterbury, a survivalist, owner of self reliance outfitters, answer that question. how long could he last if he has these skills? >> you know, you look at things like the north pond
5:38 pm
hermit, how long he lasted, 30 years, right? there's a direct parallel to a guy with that kind of knowledge. however, i agree with your last interviewee that probably he found a shack or hunting cabin, knows of a hunting cabin, could be going cabin to cabin, but that will be a problem in some aspects because of the00ing season. some of those are going to be occupied. temperatures are fairly mild right now, but in the next month they're not going to be. he will need that secure cover area. i also agree that if he hasn't already eaten a bullet somewhere, he may be planning to, or may be planning his last stand in a cobb in where he is comfortable with a wood stove and food, time to think about it. when he is cornered, he will make the next decision. being on the run very long doesn't seem like an option to me for someone that knows the area, he probably knows of a cabin, off in the deep wilderness somewhere that he can get to and hold up.
5:39 pm
>> could he hold up in a cabin, hunt deer, eat deer meat for months and months and months? >> depending how many supplies are already in the cabin, there's no doubt you could do that, if you're prepared, the cabin is well enough supplied, no question about it. you also have the fact there are probably other hunting cabins around, if he starts to run low on certain supplies, he can pillage like the north pond hermit, burglarize different cabins for what he needs. that may be the time he gets caught. >> jesse: do you think he could come and deer a vehicle and make it to canada? >> i think vehicular entrance to canada would be difficult across borders. foot entrance or water entrance would be more likely. >> jesse: excellent. dave, you're the best. thank you so much. >> thank you, buddy. >> jesse: happening right now, u.s. military bases under attack in the mid east again.

israel continues ramping up their attacks against hamas. the terrorist group launching more rockets toward israel. the israelis hyping up the ground invasion into gaza for days and now revenge is here. retired army intelligence officer chuck devore joins me now. chuck, this will be pretty nasty. what do you think first contact with the enemy is going to look like? >> what you're seeing now, israel is preparing the way. they're destroying known enemy outposts, areas of observation where the hamas terrorists can observe and call in fire on the advancing israeli forces. what they're going to want to do is get into the first line of buildings within the built up area so they can establish a base of operations, they can take care of wounded, evacuate them, set up command and control, and they can get a better idea through reconnaissance of what they have to face. >> jesse: so you insert your men in the first
5:57 pm
level, then you're probably setting up supply lines, you know, for ammunition, for medical evacuations, and to make sure they're not going to sustain attacks from the rear? >> absolutely. and of course israel being a modern army that greatly values life, what you're going to see is the vast majority of the idea of soldiers who end up getting wounded will be successfully evacuated and likely treated and be able to continue on with productive lives. you can't say as much for the hamas terrorists because, of course, they don't care so much about life and they don't really have the systems or the training to really treat their own. in fact, i would wager that the idf will treat more hamas fighters successfully than hamas will their own people. >> jesse: you're saying the idf will treat injured hamas fighters? >> in all likelihood they will, they operate like a
5:58 pm
traditional western army. if someone surrenders and are wounded, they'll treat them. if you participated in rape and massacre of 1400 plus israeli citizens, then that's a different story, but that will be dealt with later. >> wow. chuck, thank you so much. all right. we have trace gallagher in jerusalem. trace. >> i want to pick up on what chuck was saying. this expanded ground incursion, this ground operation was meant to prep the battlefield if you will to send the tanks in, heavy equipment and soldiers, at least some soldiers to go in there and kind of lay a pathway to get more soldiers in eventually are h and as days go by to expand incursions going in there. you saw the israeli air force all week long were bombarding northern gaza so they could kind of level that ground to make
5:59 pm
it easier to set that pathway, but tonight, the times of israel is reporting there have actually been some significant clashes in northern gaza between hamas and israeli soldiers. we do not know any ash utilities, the extent of any injuries, but we expect these to get bigger each night. the ground war essentially is starting to get under way and each night the incursions will get bigger and bigger until they move further into gaza. we should also note, jesse, we don't know as you look at explosions over gaza a short time ago, we do not know how this will be impact, will hezbollah in the north fire on northern israel and will this impact the dramatic negotiations that have been under way now to get the hostages out, 229 hostages in all. 40 countries are involved and the negotiations earlier today were said to be on path to get a
6:00 pm
significant number out, and apparently that has now fallen apart, and a lot of families of the hostages are concerned that the ground war may take that diplomatic effort out all together. >> jesse: absolutely. so tell me a little bit about how the feeling is there on the ground because the israeli people have been waiting for a long time. i can't imagine what it feels like for the ground operations to finally be under way. i know we have to run, trace, but that must be, i don't know, a combination of sigh of relief or at least now on the edge of their seat. >> yeah. very quickly, i can tell you, these guys were plumbers, doctors, lawyers three weeks ago, now they're fighting a war. >> jesse: stay safe, trace. in jerusalem. thank you so much for your reporting. that's it for us. sean hannity is next. >> sean: welcome to "hannity" this friday
