24 hours they have conducted more than 450 airstrikes against targets across northern gaza. we've also seen hose artillery units active along the border today raising new questions about what will happen to the more than 2 million civilians currently inside the strip. they've been warned to move to the southern part of gaza, but as you can see, the destruction is so extensive, neighborhoods wiped off the map, where will these people live? this is a question that many inside is have. we've been talking with civilians today now that communication has been restored, and they wonder about what comes next for the palestinian people. you saw the images of those palestinians storming a u.n. feared warehouse, trying to take basic necessities and those hygiene products, simply out of options with no aid getting into gaza. there were a few trucks last week that were able to make it through the rafah crossing with egypt, but this really illustrates the desperation for the palestinian people, many sleeping in tents, forced from their homes in the north and waiting for what comes next.

two other missiles hit the town, a total of 16 missiles were fired according to the idf, israeli defense force, many a barrage coming from lebanon to this region. there have been reports of some missiles landing many, many miles from the border, some near military bases. one has to to wonder whether this uptick in action by the militants has been triggered by the escalating israeli action in gaza. following the missile fire and sirens, we heard long and sustained israeli artillery blasts, clearly a response to the firing. they're using you name it to go against targets in lebanon, even hitting a militant site before they were able to attack. this as pressure has been building on the iran-backed hezbollah militants to step up attacks even further than they've been doing recently. several thousand attended a protest in beirut, lebanon, supporting hamas and its fight with israel all triggered, of course, by the horrendous terror of october 7th. an official of hamas has also

pipeline into lebanon through syria. that a makes hezbollah a much more powerful military force. not only can it attack, but it can get reinforcements in terms of more missiles, fuel, ammunition across syria, down here. that's the thing that the u.s. would likely go after. that pipeline in syria with, right? mike: just to highlight or, lebanon's here, gaza's down here, and so if you're sending stuff to hezbollah here, then you've got to target right below, right? >> and it all comes through right there. and is where are our carrier groups? they've got this area bracketed. mike: let's show. how about here? >> right. so our carrier groups have this whole area bracketed. we're not that far from europe. we've got loss of bases throughout -- lots of bases throughout this region, additional assets can come in. the u.s. is prepared to do a sustained air campaign. have you ever seen like top gun, right? you know what that deck looks like, people racing around, it's

10:13 am
all ties back to iran. we always talk about hamas and hezbollah, but none of this would be happening if the iranians weren't orchestrating a large scale campaign. you also have attacks coming out of yemen. so you've got u.s. forces -- yeah. you have u.s. forces being pickets, picking off stuff coming out of yemen, forces -- hamas and hezbollah, you've got the surrogates in syria and iraq all of which potentially -- it's very interesting, when iran says we're all go to war over this, what iran really means is all our surrogates will go to war over this, right? so they're happy to fight to the last person in palestine or -- mike: this build withup is getting the attention of the iranians? >> well, again, this is a really interesting thing, this is all predictable. now, there is a question of how much would the u.s. really lean in to help the israelis. and i think there was some hope that that wouldn't happen,
10:14 am
right? but now when they've seen the buildup, they know, like, they know the israelis are going to go after gaza, right? if there's a second front, they're going to go after hezbollah. if the u.s. forces are there, they're going to pummel the things in syria. why do this when you know that the outcome is likely to be all these guys are going to get pummeled. this is where it gets difficult. the iranians can pull the plug, they can stop, hamas can trade for the hostages, bring this to a halt. they've got offramps whenever they want them, but the longer this goes and the more fighting there is, you have a weakened israel, potentially a have a humiliated u.s., lots of global attention. if you're iran, this is a perfect setup for iranian nuclear breakout saying, oh, the region's on fire, aye got to the protect -- i've got to the protect our people. mike: colonel, we've got to leave it there. aishah: joining us now is the israeli ambassador to the united states, michael herzog.
10:15 am
ambassador, thank you very much for joining us on this subject, we appreciate it. >> thank you. aishah: i want to start with this, we know that israel is entering this new phase of this war, this new phase of the ground invasion. are we to understand, ambassador, that this is happening now because perhaps the talks to release hostages has essentially fallen apart? >> well, we are extending, we're expanding our operations inside gaza to apply pressure on hamas, part of our strategic goal of ultimately destroying the hamas regime. we gave a chance to the talks through the qataris and others to see if we can get our hostages. ultimately, it was obvious to everybody involved that hamas was just playing for time, they were not serious about this. so we are applying pressure now inside gaza, but i till hope
10:16 am
that our pressure -- still hope that our pressure will encourage them to release hostages as we move. aishah: let's talk this through, because i know the two goals for israel right now is to destroy hamas and to also release these hostages, to to rescue them. some of the families in israel of these hostages are expressing some anxiety that their loved ones are also perhaps caught up in the middle of this bombardment that we're seeing right now. the ap is reporting that some of these families are open to the idea of exchanging palestinian prisoners for their loved ones. where is israel on that right now? >> right now there's no serious willingness on the other side to release hostages, so this is, unfortunately and tragically, three e relate call -- theoretical. as i say, we welcome the release of the hostages, and we give any
10:17 am
opportunity to that end. we believe that operation against hamas inside gaza may even encourage such an outcome, but i think right now maybe going to a public discussion about under what terms one could release hostages aren't helpful to the real efforts which are being made behind the scenes to release hostages. aishah: right. president biden is expected to have a phone call with prime minister benjamin netanyahu any moment now. we await that call. i know that getting americans out of gaza is a huge priority for the state department and the biden administration. i've been in contact with an american couple stuck in gaza right now from boston who have a 1-year-old child. they are practically starving. they're thirsty, they've run out of food and water. how is israel helping to release those dual citizens, americans stuck in gaza right now?
10:18 am
>> first of all, the phone call already took place a short while ago. the two leaders are talking constantly to each other. as for getting americans and other foreigners out of gaza, we are totally onboard and close cooperation, coordination with the u.s. government. the egyptians are onboard, and national security adviser jake sullivan said this morning publicly it's hamas that is holding up and preventing that from happening. aishah: okay. israel has recalled its diplomats from turkey, a huge move, after erdogan there practically called israel a war criminal saying that you're committing war crimes during this war. the goal, i know, for israel has long been to normalize relations with regional partners. is that goal at risk here? >> let's make a distinction
10:19 am
between those countries who normalize relations with israel under the abraham accords and others in the region who are quietly telling us go and destroy hamas, publicly they are more cautious, but they're telling us hamas is our enemy as well and the enemy of peace in the region and stability. in the case of turkey, unfortunately, president erdogan has gone all out against israel putting all the blame on us and justifying hamas. this is nothing that we can accept. let's not forget who we're talking about. we're talking about jihad, about the jihad thety -- jihadi organization that a waged an all out war against israel and kidnapped over 200 people and butchered 1400 people. how can you defend such an organizationsome this is fathomable to us. aishah: yeah, you can't. and my last question quickly, ambassador, there's a humanitarian crisis unfolding in gaza.
10:20 am
communication blackout over the weekend although i believe some telephone lines and internet are coming back up. thousands of people, we have video of this, broke into an aid warehouse because they were looking for flour, food, anything to feed their families. i know you previously said you were working hard to create some sort of a humanitarian zone, a corridor, to get aid in. where are we on that? >> we are working very, very hard in close coordination with all relevant u.n. agencies and with the u.s. government and u.s. special coordinator to provide solutions. we are very mindful of the human challenges. we, it is our duty and interest to make sure that civilians, innocent civilians, are not harmed, and we're trieded to get them out of harm's way -- we're trying to get them out of harm's way. today we allowed in 48 trucks, truckloads of assistance, and we're going to increase more and
10:21 am
more. in one or two days, i believe we'll be able to get a hundred trucks over into gaza, and we are working, tracking very closely the humanitarian needs of gaza in terms of food, medical supplies, water, all that to provide solutions. this is a tragic situation. it is a war that was imposed on us. we did not initiate it, but we have to go after hamas. everybody understands that. aishah: yeah. >> and we call on them not to put civilians in harm's way. we're trying to get them out of harm's way. and you'll see more and more solutions in the coming days including floating hospitals, field hospitals and a lot more human currency and assistance going into gaza. irish we'll be following that closely especially for our americans that are stuck in gaza
