like two hours ago. you can see israeli troops operating inside the gaza strip thchl is a tank on the edge of gaza. israelis telling fox news they are ramping up efforts and sending infantry troops. the destruction is significant. past 24 hours, israel hit 600 targets inside gaza. we hear fighter jets overhead and artillery in the distance as day 24 of the war unfolds. israelis are operating on both sides of the gaza strip, being engaged by hamas in the northern part of gaza. a spokesman for israeli military had this to say about the situation. >> over the past day we have expanding ground activity with
5:04 am
forces entering gaza strip, including artillery corps. dozens of terrorists were eliminated last night who had attempted to attack forces moves in their direction. we are conducting expanding ground operations in the gaza strip. >> trey: israelis are warning palestinian civilians to move south if they have not done so already. you can see the aftermath of the israeli strikes wiping some neighborhood blocks offthe map. palestinians stormed a un warehouse and just behind me, my camera man signalling and you can see israelis are striking on the edge of the gaza strip. that fighter jet overhead roaring in the distance and israelis marking this area an hour ago giving a sense of how active the scene is.

smoke billowing up along the edge and at this moment, israeli troops are operating in the area behind me. >> lawrence: some sources are telling me these are not random strikes, this is part of the ground invasion and particular targets. do you know anything about that? >> trey: i want to show you here, they are hammering this side of the gaza strip in one specific location. this indicates there is likely a tunnel system on the eastern side of gaza. they use bunker buster bombs after marking specific areas to hit targets. the israeli forces are being ambushed when they enter gaza. yesterday hamas military wing were inside one location, israelis refer to as command center and the israelis hit that

cell, killing all militants. we were told before the war started in meetings with top officials israelis had a list of thousands of targets in the gaza strip. they are going one by one hitting as many as they can and support infantry troops. >> ainsley: how do the bunker bombs work? >> trey: they are used in a way to hit a very specific depth, due to how deep the tunnels are, even bunker buster bombs are not effective against the tunnels. israelis released a map under the al-shifa hospital and the main part where casualties are taken from all over the gaza strip, most advanced medical system available there. israelis are saying this

compound is used for hamas leadership as a staging area and entrance area for the tunnel system and released a computer-generated photo of the tunnels. al-shifa is location they bring many casualtieses and we met with officials on this compound and gives a sense of how challenging this is for the israelis. a source was texting me saying there are thousands of civilians that did not listen to warnings to head south. >> ainsley: is that the same hospital we saw the parking lot was bombed by the islamic jihad? >> trey: that's a different hospital in northern part of gaza but that hospital helps illustrate point many palestinian civilians will use hospital grounds to take refuge
5:08 am
during a war like what is developing now. at al-shifa hospital, the entrance is located, there are thousands of palestinian civilians that did not heed the warning and using this as a place to shelter. we can't expect them to move closer to center of gaza, not today, they will try to surround gaza city. i was talking with a separate source today back and forth and he said he tried to make it to gaza city to look at the situation and the roads were destroyed by the israelis, two main roads that connect northern and southern part of gaza. this is indication israel is looking to cut off access to gaza city and try to surround the area and bring out of the tunnels and engage them face-to-face and kill as many as possible. >> brian: whichen moos if people stayed, they will not be able to

conduct operations in line with the rules of armed conflict. the administration has been trying to publicly convey steadfast, unwaivering support for israel, officials have been less willing to openly acknowledge how much they are telling israel behind closed doors about the perils they are facing and encouraging them to dial things back. >> lawrence: there are reporting the white house is divided on the president's position. one activist is saying this regarding the administration. are we dealing with a warmonger or a peace maker? who are we dealing with? this is referring to the president's fractured relationship with the arab and muslim americans in this country. what is the white house saying in regard to all this back and forth on where the president stands? >> as far as where the president stands, they are clear the
5:12 am
president stands behind israel. we have noticed over the last couple weeks every time they talk about this, there is more and more concern expressed for the plight of palestinian civilians and people in gaza. the administration has been urging israel to make sure every step possible is taken to protect civilian lives. the public csentiment could shit away. we have not seen the administration speak out against protests we've seen on college campuses, horrible rhetoric we've seen propagated online. it takes multiple questions to get them to acknowledge some of what we're seeing is antisemitism. when you ask them, we had this happen last week in a briefing, you ask if what we're seeing play out is antisemitism, they refuse to say that at first.
5:13 am
they say we stand against antisemitism and any form of hate. karine jean-pierre got a lot of blow-back, she pivoted on a question about antisemitism to the administration, concern for the muslim community and did later have to walk that back on twitter temperature gives a picture of the divide in the administration in terms of which parts of their base they want to be talking to. >> brian: they love saying white supremacy is the big problem, they jump on this, this has them confused. thank you. just amazing watching the shots of the active war taking place, how close that is to trey. >> ainsley: he zooms in and he believes they are targeting tunnels using bunker bomber les and looks like the tunnels are
