oil and they have two objectives to achieve that aspirational goal. 1 is to drive the united states military out of the middle east and that is why they've been pounding us for years. two, destroy the state of israel. >> martha: fox team coverage. jacque heinrich at the white house and michael all en with us on the growing risks of a regional conflict. first to trey yengst reporting live in southern israel today. hi, trey. >> good morning. i want to start with breaking news. fox news has learned that a high-level israeli official -- you can hear some of that outgoing artillery now, in coordination with the united states visited doha on saturday for talks with qatary negotiators about the release of hostages being held inside gaza. we learned about this meeting from a source earlier today saying that talks had stalled on
7:01 am
friday. they resumed on saturday and they've been described to fox as productive. these conversations come as the israelis say 239 people are being held inside gaza. we do know following the operation launched on friday night israeli forces are currently operating inside the gaza strip. i want to show you what it was like just a few hours ago. you can see the israelis marking targets on the northeastern side of the gaza strip. in the distance you can hear the thud of artillery. a very active front. as the israelis push deeper into gaza, they anticipate there will be more resistance as part of the reason they continue strikes against different positions. those israeli forces operating on the eastern and western side of gaza pushing deeper into the strip. today the spokesman for the israeli military discussed the situation saying this.
7:02 am
>> over the past day we have expanded ground activities with additional forces entering the gaza strip including infantry and engineering and artillery dozens of terrorists were eliminated last night who barricaded themselves in building and attempted to attack the forces moving in their direction. i want to explain and provide an example. we're conducting expanded ground operations in the gaza strip. >> there is extensive damage to the entire gaza strip as humanitarian disasters is quickly developing for the 2 million civilians that live there. new video shows palestinians raiding a u.n. warehouse in gaza trying to get any food and supplies they could get their hands on. we know 24 aid trucks did pass through egypt's crossing yesterday delivered to the palestinian red crescent. we are learning today from a source inside gaza who tells fox news the israelis tar jevityed the two main roads between the
7:03 am
north and south of gaza making it impossible for any aid to get to the northern part of the strip. martha. >> martha: does it appear based on what you are reporting they are trying to encircle gaza city? >> it seems that is the plan for the israelis. they have been putting new pressure on the groups inside gaza, hamas and islamic jihad from the ground, artillery units and the sea with naval shelling. as the infantry troops push forward that critical piece of information that they have bombed the two main roads dividing the north and the south of gaza is significant to look at. an indication they don't want any hamas reinforcements to travel on those roads and engage the israelis in gaza city. >> martha: thank you very much. trey yengst reporting. >> dana: saudi arabia's defense minister will be at the pentagon to discuss the war with defense secretary lloyd austin following an expected visit to the white house today.
7:04 am
this is significant. jacque heinrich is live at the white house with more on this. >> good morning. preface all of this with the fact that several days ago saudi arabia intercepted a missile that was headed for israel sent by houthis in yemen, the first known military intervention by saudi arabia on israel's behalf. more broadly, though, the kingdom has been vocally opposing israel's ground invasion in gaza and calling on the international community pressuring the u.s. to tell israel basically to dial it back. the foreign ministry said in a statement the kingdom of saudi arabia condemns and denounces any ground operations carried out by israel that would threaten the life of civilians and result in inhumane dangers. the kingdom warns of the danger continuing to carry oust the unjustified violations contrary to international law. the biden administration thinks
7:05 am
iran saw the budding relationship between saudi arabia and israel as a threat and iran was happy to see hamas attack israel. a piece of the negotiations ongoing was a two-state solution for palestine. officials are making clear president biden wants to see that happen even as the u.s. backs up israel. >> still believes in a two-state solution and working with partners throughout the region. arab partners, palestinian authorities and we are working to find a way to get to a two-state solution to the palestinians people can live in peace and security. >> the u.s. is concerned about the war widening. iran is threatening israel and the u.s. for backing up israel. he said zionist regime have forced red lines that may force everyone to take action. the white house pushed israel to restore communications in gaza.
7:06 am
the restoration was critical. they need to be able to communicate with each other and the rest of the world. our administration cared about this, worked on it and are glad to see it restored. so that's just continuation of the public support we're seeing from the biden administration for israel. also urging restraint and some thought as they pursue this operation behind closed doors, dana. >> dana: i'm sure the israelis are wondering if they need those reminders. >> martha: israeli ground forces push deeper into gaza as we saw. the white house warns there is a real risk this war could escalate into a larger regional conflict. michael allen is with us. in terms of this effort to prevent a wider war, it does
7:07 am
seem as jacque is reporting somewhat encouraging that saudi representatives are coming to the white house. we saw them intercept a missile last week. how big a role will the saudis play in what's next? >> they will play a very large role and significant meeting. i think what the saudis and even the united states are worried about is an axis from resistance springing from iran. hamas, hezbollah out of lebanon to israel's north and now the houthi that we hear so much about coming from yemen. so i think this is an effort to get us on the same page, to figure out how we might be able to go back at iran and otherwise also all the while make sure that we don't escalate this into some sort of regional conflict. that's not good for the united states as worried as we are about iran. >> dana: jake sullivan said this yesterday on face the nation. >> we said if our troops were
7:08 am
attacked we would respond. we responded. if they are attacked again we'll respond again. we're vigilant because we are seeing elevated risk against the force and spreading to other parts of the region. we're doing everything in our power to deter and prevent that. >> dana: at the same time the turkish president said this. lindsey graham seated seems that turkey is setting itself up to be the squad of nato. they are a nato ally. how does the white house keep all of this contained if you have a situation like that? great the saudis coming here but you have turkey saying things like this. >> turkey has got to be our most high maintenance ally in the world. constantly unpredict bel especially under president erdogan. they caused us trouble in nato.
7:09 am
all hands on deck to try and manage erdogan, who is, of course, appealing to his own arab street. demagoging these particular issues. saw the footage yesterday and it gets scary how many hundreds of thousands of people are demonstrating against israel. >> martha: it sure does. jordan an interesting country to watch. 30 years ago there was a historic peace agreement between jordan and israel. we heard the queen speak out forcefully about what is happening to palestinians civilians and requesting patriot missiles on their borders. where will they come down? >> the king of jordan is a terrific ally of the united states. he doesn't have the security, say, that the monarchy does in saudi arabia. he is relatively insecure. he doesn't have natural resources like gasoline and so he is trying to rely upon his own friendships around the
7:10 am
region and especially with the united states to stay in power. he has to watch his people. he has to try and appeal to them to keep them on his side. we don't need another major activity happening there. >> dana: one last question for you. trey yengst had breaking news saying there was an israeli and american official in qatar over the weekend to talk about hostages, which we know there are at least 10 or 12, depending on the number you get. american hostages still being held. >> we have all so much about qatar. our channel to a lot of the rogue states around the world, including, of course, hamas and even the taliban. i think we've tried to give them some leeway to try to get some people free. israel, i think, has to leave no stone unturned and try every avenue. that's probably why they were there to see if any hostages could be released. but i think israel's red line is a smart one, which is we aren't
7:11 am
going to be deterred by this. we will continue to go forward with our ground operation in gaza even as you try and work towards a hostage release. >> dana: you would think they would be able to appeal to qatar to press hamas when there are babies being held. >> absolutely. very hard. >> dana: great to have you. thank you for being here. there was also this, martha, that i just want to give people a chance to hear from you. you had a tweet after you went to a screening event. we can put up the tweet. let martha explain what you saw when you went to the consulate last week. >> martha: friday a number of reporters were invited to the israeli consulate to view the video of the hamas attack on october 7th. everyone has seen some of these images online. but the unfiltered video is absolutely -- it's so horrific. it is hard to put into words. we have had our reporters trey
7:12 am
yengst and mike tobin have also watched it and had a similar feeling. but there is obviously so much blood, so many charred bodies, it is very difficult obviously to watch this. but the two things that stuck with me, dana, more than anything is a moment when two young boys, probably 8 and 10, grenade is thrown into the room where they are with their father and their father is killed and then the terrorists, hamas terrorists pull the boys out and basically pushes them into their kitchen and they are trying. one of them can't see from the grenade and the terrorist starts drinking water or milk or juice out of their refrigerator standing in their kitchen. these boys are screaming and they -- one of them says i want my mother.

and then he says why am i alive? it is a very -- i will never forget these two boys. i just can't imagine. so beyond the blood and the horror is the emotion of i don't know if they survived. but of the survivors, and the other thing that haunts -- will haunt anyone who hears or sees it are the phone calls. hamas terrorist calls his parents and they have a recording of it. it was on a phone that i think was left there or belonged to one of the victims, and he says mom and dad, you will be so proud of me. i am a hero. i killed ten jews with my own hands. and his parents are cheering. and saying that they wish they were with him. it is horrifying and i think that the reason that they are showing it to people. they don't want this part of the

story to be forgotten and important to remember what the spark was. these people in the palestinian territory would not be under attack right now. it's horrific what is happening to their families as well. but this attack would not be happening if not for what happened on october 7th. >> dana: it is critical as reporters to be the eyes and ears for others and you went through a traumatic thing to see it. thankfully you were the witness and can share it with all of us and thank you for that. other news we're following. a weekend of violence across america. multiple shootings leaving several dead and many more wounded during halloween celebrations. >> martha: a new republican poll in iowa that came out this morning giving a big boost to the frontrunner and a shake-up in the battle for second place. >> dana: a look at all the mass protests against israel and the left wing dark money networks that spend millions to fund them.
