a person who does not blame hamas for that? >> honestly, i wish i could. israel has become this enemy -- unfortunate, and especially on college campuses on apps, younger people have been brainwashed and become activists and when data is clear and videos are literally posted everywhere for people tow see and people are not waking up, we know we have a serious problem on our hands. >> ainsley: thank you. a jewish model, i can understand why, and you are smart, thank you for coming on. >> ainsley: thank you. third hour of "fox and friends" starts now. >> brian: we begin with fox news alert.
5:01 am
>> steve: israel continuing to target hamas hot spots, striking 11,000 terror hubs since the war started. 11,000. ground fighting is coming with a heavy toll. >> lawrence: within last 30 minutes idf announced 11 soldiers were killed in northern gaza bringing israeli soldier death toll to 13. >> ainsley: trey yingst is live in southern israel with the latest. we've gone to you every morning, this is day 26. >> trey: hi, guys, good morning. day 26 of the conflict between israel and hamas. you hear fighter jets overhead, you are watching airstrikes against the strip. new information, yesterday amid a chaotic day for the military, i met with gallant, the defense minister in tel aviv to discuss the situation. he gave a small group of journalists new information about the october 7 massacre and
5:02 am
how this war began. he says the defense establishment set up a special operation room to identify all of the hamas militants and all of the palestinians that participated in the massacre. they are using this operation room to hunt down each and every one of them and kill anyone involved in the slaughter of these innocent people in southern israel. he said they crossed a red line that day and israeli forces block them from entering ashkelon, major city where casualties would have been higher than the 1400 killed in that deadly attack. we are learning more about the situation inside gaza. you hear outgoing artillery, israeli media reporting 13 soldiers were killed yesterday. military in the process of notifying families. some of the soldiers were be buried today. they are operating inside gaza behind me.
5:03 am
it is difficult. street to street fighting is taking place and israelis are using air force to target hamas membership. just yesterday, the senior -- was killed in an israeli airstrike. there are new questions about how many civilians were in the area and how many died as result of that strike. we should note, amid tragic updates, we have a small piece of good news. the rafah crossing between egypt and gaza is open today to get many injured and vulnerable palestinians out and get foreign citizens, up to 500 out that have been waiting for weeks to get to safety. >> steve: with first batch of people trying to leave gaza go to israel, there are number of seriously injured people and that is why egypt have ambulances lined up on their side. there won't be any americans
5:04 am
today. at what point might the americans who are stuck in gaza be able to leave? yeah, it's a great question and look, it could be a very long time. this is part of egyptian and qatari led negotiation. there are thousands inside gaza. hundreds of passport holders are there. it could take a long time. israelis are operating along many different points along the strip. hamas will allow people to leave, egyptians will open the crossing and let people get to safety. this is a few hundred people, we're talking about thousands that need to get out. >> ainsley: do you know if they are allowing americans to get on the list. you talked to one woman, she is not on the list, but her son, american passport and jordanian
5:05 am
passport and he is on the list. >> trey: yeah, exactly. they both have u.s. passports and he also has a jordanian passport. he is on the list, she is not on the list. she's been talking with the state department everyday. she is frustrated with the biden administration and state department and focusing one specific thing, the state department keeps telling her to go to the rafah crossing. she risks her life going in this active war zone and they don't let her cross. she's told me she is not going to leave until she can confirm that americans are getting through and she can take her 10-year-old son with her, cross to egypt and go back to her home in utah. >> steve: that is terrible. where is she living right now? just essentially just camped out a thousand yards from the crossing?
5:06 am
>> trey: right now she's in southern part of the gaza strip, staying with friends of friends. everyone is staying in one room. they are terrified issue these are civilians, not combat antss and they are in the middle of active fighting. she has seen rockets and felt airstrikes shake the ground. not just her trapped, aid workers, american citizens stuck in gaza. they are running low on food, they don't have clean water and feel abandoned. >> ainsley: did she tell you why she decided to stay? >> trey: she did not want to send her son across. she was visiting her father, a palestinian man, who is also an american citizen, but many palestinians go to gaza to visit family during times of peace. with two million people, you can imagine so many people have links to the united states, even
5:07 am
a journalist we've known for years, he lives now in chicago. he was in gaza visiting family when the war started and he's stuck there and his family is in the united states. >> brian: admiral john kirby said yesterday there is no evidence hamas is taking humanitarian aid, is that true. have you heard hamas trying to take this aid, food, water and fuel? >> trey: i would question that statement. i think it is critical that we ask further questions about that statement. i'm not saying what admiral john kirby is saying is not true, i would ask how they have been able to verify that. they have not been able to get other information from inside the strip, how do they know. they have done it in the 3569, they are storing fuel inside the strip meant for civilians, they could be doing that now. a lot of questions have to be asked about the situation inside
5:08 am
gaza. israelis releasing information about the givalia strike yesterday. it is unclear how they confirmed information, they would have to dig up bodies in the tunnel. there is a lot of information coming out from inside gaza and we're being careful with what we're reporting, this is flag of war in day 26. >> steve: trying to be so careful. >> lawrence: thank you. so to that point, thanks, trey. to that point of fact checking information, we have former ambassador on, senior advisor to netanyahu, he makes the point of the men that are surrounded in the area of the blast site. let's play that first. >> if hamas is eradicated as israel would like to see and many people around the world would, what happens next? who is waiting in the wings?
5:09 am
>> can i just rephrase your question and say when hamas is eradicated, because we are determined. >> ainsley: i like that better. >> we doll this. we refuse to leave this enclave of terror on our border, that enclave will be destroyed, that is good for israel and civilians of gaza. we will end hamas regime of terror in the gaza strip. >> lawrence: that is another clip of him saying what he's going to do, israel is going to do to destroy hamas. after that, he makes the point, you see aged fighting men surrounding the blasts at the refugee camp. where are the women and children they are talking about? they are -- may be part of hamas. >> ainsley: jabalia, we call it a refugee camp, they do not live in tents and sleeping on cots.
5:10 am
it is urban area with buildings. israel blasts that area -- >> steve: there is a crater. >> ainsley: huge crater and you have the people down on the ground walking in the crater. his point to you, lawrence, take a look, they are men, young men, the fighters there. he said they are trying to get everyone notified, moved to southern area. >> brian: egypt does not want to have a refugee camp. >> steve: where are women and children? >> brian: al jazeera said one lost 19 in their family, i was watching a report last night. there are innocent people caught in the bombing. israelis have 11,000 targets, 25 miles wide, five miles wide and 25 miles long. it's small and it has 2.5
5:11 am
million people. that is going to happen. the other problem, hamas hides within the masses and they are not letting people get to the rafah gate. live video, the split screen, they look like the place has been hit multiple times since we hopped on the air. >> steve: israelis yesterday were targeting this refugee camp because they have bad guys under the hospital, they are in mosques, schools, they were targeting one hamas leader and they got him. they got other leaders and so here is that sound bite you were talking about. listen to the former ambassador talk about the people standing around. where are women and children? watch. >> the people around the crater where the strike happened were mostly young men of military age and did not look like innocent civilians to me. what i can tell you is this. if you are part of the hamas
5:12 am
leadership, if you are part of the command structure responsible for rapes, murders, beheadings, the mass shootings, the massacres they perpetrated in israel, we will find you and we will take you out. >> lawrence: one thing i will say, don't take the bait. hamas is good at propaganda. they will send messages, they are trying to play on emotion of not just americans, but the international community. they know they hide behind civilians, that is their plan. we know for a fact as we look at the live picture of gaza, the smoke. >> ainsley: that is sad about the same thing, so many women and children are there, people who don't agree with hamas, but don't have the right to speak up and they can't leave their land lot. >> brian: another big concern, can these attacks transfer to attack at home? absolutely, especially when the
5:13 am
southern border is open and has been infiltrated more than ever in history. fbi director was brought to capitol hill yesterday to answer questions. he says what is happening over there could inspire people who might be hamas agents over here. listen. >> we assess that the actions of hamas and its allies will serve as inspiration, the likes of which we have not seen since isis launched caliphate. they launched against americans in the united states to a whole other level. we cannot and do not discount possibility hamas or other terrorist organization may conduct attacks here on our own soil. >> do you believe, is the u.s. safer from foreign threats today, safer than when joe biden took office, from the day he took office?
5:14 am
what i would say to you is that the terror threats have elevated. but i also think there is a lot the country has done to be better prepared to deal with them. >> ainsley: notice what he did, long pause. how do i answer this? the answer is we are not as safe under the last administration and then he said we've done a lot to elevate law enforcement, praising law enforcement, which is great. >> steve: he is right, threat level has increased. >> ainsley: absolutely, look at the numbers. >> steve: particularly when it comes to antisemitism. we have updates. remember that threat posted online at cornell, somebody threatened to shoot up "104 west, university dining hall," it caters did kosher diets and slit the throat of any jewish person this man came across.
5:15 am
they have arrested 21-year-old patrick dye, charged with making threats, faces five years in prison and $250,000 fine and his parents say he could not have done it, according to nbc news he confessed that he was the culprit. the parents say he didn't do it, he was depressed. >> lawrence: this is what the kid posted on chat under hamas warrior. genocide will be destroyed, rape and kill all jew women before all they birth more jewish hitlers, jews -- wipe the jews off the face of the earth, no jew civilians are innocent of genocide. people that struggle and there are millions, thousands that struggle with depression in this country everyday. >> ainsley: that is what his dad
5:16 am
said. >> brian: doesn't mean you are antisemitic. >> lawrence: doesn't mean you want to slice the throats of jews. >> brian: could be looking at five years in jail and there is problems at cornell. i don't think cornell is that upset about it. f israel was scribbled on the sidewalks all over campus. it is not one depressed person, there is a school of thought and not only ivy league institution having trouble. what happened at yale we've been talking about. >> ainsley: anyone who has grownup, especially in church, knows every child is a child of god. every person is god's child. god created them. to imagine being able to slit someone's throat or want to go to another country and hate them because of religion. what if this was the muslim or african american community and we said, this people would be
5:17 am
outraged, why are they not outraged when people are antisemitic? >> steve: it was october 13th, about a week after the strike on israel and the yale newspaper had a column. op ed thing. the headline was, is yale for palestine a hate group? and then about a week after that, the editors of the yale news ran a correction and said this column has removed unsubstantiated claims that hamas raped women and beheaded men, but we know they did that so why did they have a correction there? last night, they put this up, they walked it back and said news was wrong to publish the correction and news retracts editor notes without qualification and the editor does, threats of violence level
5:18 am
have intenseified this week. there have been people reaching out, a lot of hate message to people that work at the newspaper. >> ainsley: and calls for people to stop giving to yale. >> brian: here is shaczar, she weighed in on what she's been through and the final retraction which has her triumphed. >> i don't think it is possible to change deeply rooted anti-jewish current that exists in university and part of the flagship newspaper. it is a pipeline to other outlets, "new york times," "washington post." you have videos of hamas brutalization, they made the videos to recruit young men to their movement. now you have a choice, you can side with hamas by justifying or denying actions or you can choose not to side with hamas.
5:19 am
it is so simple. >> lawrence: i asked the question, since they did retraction do you think there has been a change of heart. her response was they did this because of public pressure. she noted we should realize this is publication on college campus. "new york times," "washington post," they get articles from this publication. she goes, this is not just a university problem. this is min stream. we should think because they did retraction hearts have been changed, powerful statement. >> brian: uc system got together, ethnic study group and called on administration of university of california to retract charges of terrorism on hamas. the entertainment world is taking aim at educational world,
5:20 am
we've been saying this. andy mccarthy wrote a book about the muslim brotherhood taking part on campuses. >> lawrence: before this conflict happened, hate crimes were on the rise for jews in this country. fbi director, sorry, ainsley, i think you were about to elude to that. 60%? >> ainsley: yeah, 60% of all religious based hate crimes are against jews. >> lawrence: this was environment before, i fail to believe it is lack of education. sometimes you got to believe your eyes and look in the street and see and listen to rhetoric of kids and professors and take them at their word. >> steve: lawrence, look at number of people on that side. >> brian: that is the next generation. >> ainsley: more people have
