coast and 8:00 p.m. in los angeles. this is america's late news. this is "fox news @ night". it is now november 7th and israel marking one month since the terrorist attacks of october seventh and the beginning of the war. israeli defense forces say they now have gaza city surrounded and are on the verge of entering the city at any moment unleashing what they say is a street by street, building by building fight. and most of the hostages are believed to be in the tunnels below gaza city. meantime in the northern part of israel, hezbollah is again ratcheting up the rocket fire threatening to open another front in the war. we have team box coverage. steve harrigan is in northern israel. we begin in tel aviv where alex hogan is live with the latest on the fight in gaza. alex? >> reporter: high trace. the last day israeli fighter jets have struck about 450 hamas targets. ground forces are expected to move in on gaza city in the
8:02 pm
coming days. experts say it's the subterranean underground tunnels that will be the idf's most impressive challenge at. we talked with one expert says he is roughly 300 miles of tunnels mostly insulated by concrete. they are made up of multiple arteries. there is levels and even small rooms. some feature medal doors so they can seal off the corridors in case of an attack. even if the idf does clear and secure some land, there is still the real threat that hamas could ambush it really forces from behind. as far as the hostages who are likely in those tunnels, the conditions are becoming more and more dire. >> the claustrophobia, the lack of air, the low level of oxygen, the complete lack of sense of time. is it daytime, nighttime? i wouldn't be surprised if some hostages actually lose their mental cognitive capabilities when part of this is going on
8:03 pm
right now. >> reporter: one month into the war, the health ministry in gaza which is again run by hamas, claims that more than 10,000 palestinians have been killed. those numbers are not verifiable, but the un is calling this menaugh terrien crisis in gaza a nightmare. roughly 720,000 people are sleeping in about 150 human shelters. because of the humanitarian need the uae announced they will establish a field hospital in gaza. back here in israel this morning it is officially one month since the october 7th attack as we enter the early hours of the morning. there will be memorials plans for those killed and continued visuals and rallies of families of the hostages hoping to bring them home. trace? >> we will cover that. alex hogan live in tel aviv. meantime in northern israel near daily skirmishes between idf and bye forces explode to explode into a full-fledged war on this front.
8:04 pm
the chief international correspondent steve harrigan is live in northern israel with the latest from there. steve? >> reporter: trace, overnight multiple locations in northern israel, sirens going off and some of these towns so close to the border with lebanon that the siren only gives you 15 seconds to get to safety. whether that's jumping in a bunker or stopping your car, jumping out and running to a building for safety. during a one hour period overnight at least 30 missiles were fired from lebanon into northern israel. israeli officials say bye in lebanon is playing a dodgers game. >> what bye is doing is called slowly, systematically aggravating the situation, using different parts of the weapons in its arsenal in order to broaden the scope of the pressure on israel in order to endanger more israeli civilians.
8:05 pm
>> reporter: for the first three weeks of the fighting much of it took place within 2 miles of the border. overnight we saw something different. bye firing deeper into israel. 25 miles just outside of haifa. trace, back to. >> steve live for us. was bring in former marine corps special operations officer garrett exner and state department terrorism expert. we appreciate it. the idf troops they say have surrounded gaza city and really could go in at any time. but it's dangerous and it's tricky. what do you think? >> i think they put themselves in a good position so far. they have isolated the city. they have given themselves multiple avenues to approach and attacked the city from. they have spread the hamas defenders out as best as possible. some of the intel that was released by the idf showed that hamas fighters are trying to cower down on large pieces of terrain with just a few
8:06 pm
fighters. israel has done a pretty good job so far. >> it's interesting. we talked to steve harrigan a moment ago and he says hezbollah is firing rockets deeper into israel. the international idf spokesperson said this about hezbollah. watch. >> what we are seeing is a very dangerous game of brinkmanship from hezbollah, one that could possibly embroil the entire region into war. a wore that we are not seeking. if it would be forced upon us we would respond and defend ourselves just like we are doing in gaza and then some. >> he use the word brinksmanship. the deeper they get, the more dangerous this becomes. the more people that can get involved. >> that's exactly right, trace. hezbollah has been lobbying rockets and missiles across the border but they have so far held back from committing themselves to fully opening up a second
8:07 pm
front. that is the scenario everybody is working hard to avoid. now our ability, the united states ability to deter this iranian proxy hezbollah from opening up a second front really depends on the credibility of our threats to use force. i've got to say we are saying the right words, but we are not backing that up with deeds. just in the past two or three weeks we have seen approaching 40 attacks on american soldiers by iranian proxies in a rack. we have responded one time. what is it going to take for us to stand up and protect our people and send a credible message of deterrence? how many american soldiers are going to have to be injured or even die before the administration takes the necessary action to deter? >> that's a fair point. what do you make of the u.s. sending this nuclear sub to the region? is that something you think might give iran pause?
8:08 pm
>> i actually don't. i think they are sending messages by moving troops or ships into the region. what it will take is a real show of american strength to conduct a strike against iranian proxies for a rainy and forces somewhere in the region to actually get them back in line. >> i want to put this up. gen. jack keane said something interesting. he was talking about hamas using civilians as human shields. watch. >> they want widespread, international condemnation of israel and that is taking plays. it has exceeded anything we have seen in the past. they also want israel to be isolated geopolitically and be weakened on a world stage. >> it is happening, nathan. you can see it around the world. we will talk about that a lot more in the show. it is happening all around. >> that's right. hamas is playing a very cynical and dangerous game of using
8:09 pm
their own civilians as shields. the more perversely, the more palestinians are killed, the better it is for hamas propaganda. watch what happens at lc for hospital. israeli forces are moving in. they are circling gaza city. they are going to make a move on the hospital. everybody knows this is not a hospital as you and i understand it. it's a hospital sitting on top of hamas headquarters. this will be really, really embarrassing for a lot of people who have been criticizing israel and reflexively embracing hamas propaganda when it turns out that, guess what, this is where hamas was running the war, underneath the hospital for the most vulnerable palestinian civilians. >> that is a proper assessment. thank you both. an in the end woman is behind bars for allegedly deliberately plowing her car into what she thought was a jewish school and breaking just moments ago an elderly jewish man has now died after he was hit in the face with a megaphone
8:10 pm
at a pro- palestinian rally in southern california. matt finn is live with the latest on both stories. good evening. >> reporter: in indianapolis, the 34-year-old woman is considered a terrorist and the fbi is investigating that crash as a hate crime. the police say she intentionally crashed her car into an indianapolis school friday night that she thought was jewish which had adults and children inside. no reports of injuries in the crash. the woman was watching news coverage of the israel-hama wore and decided to attack the school because she was offended by the hebrew israelite symbol on the front of the building. it turns out the building is not a jewish school. it's the israelite school of universal practical knowledge, which is being operated by a sect of the black hebrew israelites. the anti-defamation league describes them as a fringe anti-semitic religious movement that believes they are the true children of israel.
8:11 pm
and response to that crash the indianapolis jewish committee writes in part, although a jewish facility was not targeted solely due to its ironic misidentification, this is yet another reminder to maintain security protocols and remain vigilant of suspicious activity and report the same promptly to the appropriate authorities. tonight in california a law enforcement source tells fox news that an elderly man who was assaulted at a pro-israel rally has died. the jewish federation of los angeles says a pro- palestinian protester hit the man in the head with a megaphone and he suffered a brain injury. >> let's bring in bethany mandel, author of stolen use, pete peterson from the school of public policy and carolyn siegel the founder of if you heard what i heard. thank you all for coming in. carolyn, i will put both of these stories together. the breaking news that matt was talking about. this is from foxnews.com. they write the following about the woman arrested.
8:12 pm
officers say she told them that she was watching news coverage of the israel-hama wore on television and was offended by the hebrew israelite symbol on the outside of the building so she decided to attack the building. you couple that with now what we learn today an elderly jewish man hit in the face with a megaphone and he died this afternoon. this is all the same coupling, right? it is hate against israelis and jews. >> it is hate and it comes down to education. we have to educate about what happened not even 80 years ago in history and keep it out of the forefront of our mind so it doesn't happen again. but here we are and these anti-semitic incidents are happening. when was the last time you saw at a pro-israel rally the call for the annihilation of any groups? having compassion for our fellow humans is important right now. now more than ever. >> bethany, i know you into the pro- palestinian anti-semitic rally in d.c. this weekend.
8:13 pm
i will put up some pictures while you are talking. you took some of these pictures and it's interesting because it really is one of those things that you have to see first hand to really get the context and perspective. what did you think? >> yeah, i actually wasn't there on saturday because i didn't feel safe as a jewish woman. i think i was right not to feel safe. those pictures were taken the next morning. the damage was pretty significant all around the white house. i was there with my children and we had a pretty serious conversation about we were there in order to be at a vigil outside the red cross in honor and memory of the folks who died, but also the hostages. the fact that the red cross has not visited any of the hostages in the last month. i brought my kids to the white house and showed them that this is the other side. this is what they do. i want you to see the dichotomy between the people who sang outside the red cross and the people who did this outside the white house.
8:14 pm
>> it really is a great illustration of the dichotomy of this. bill acumen, the billionaire, wrote this to the harvard president. he posted it on x. and part he writes your failure to condemn the barbaric ax of october seventh open the door for a wave of anti- israel attacks on campus that have led to a growing number of anti-semitic protests and actions. does this work? does this move the ball forward at all or does this have one more idle threat against the university? >> we are witnessing a watershed event in higher education where donors are stepping forward. you are definitely seeing a broader public reaction to this. it's important to point out the tweet, not only talks about the lack of reaction from the harvard president, but what harvard students are enduring right now. he talks about jewish students being spat on, bullied and attacked online and also in person. this is happening on college
8:15 pm
campuses around the country and it cannot stand. >> it's an important time to bring in your foundation, carolyn. if you heard what i heard should raise awareness to anti-semitism and stories of the holocaust. what is the purpose of what you are doing? >> i am the granddaughter of two holocaust survivors. i grew up hearing the stories my whole life. my grandfather said you have to pay attention to warning signs, anti-semitism being one of them. at the end of a story when i was eight years old he said it will be the job of your generation to make sure the world doesn't forget. i couldn't understand that at the time, but here we are. the need for these stories has never been more important. i started this which captures the stories of grandchildren of holocaust survivors. the last generation to hear the stories first hand. the hope is that we educate and keep these anti-semitic incidents from ever happening again. but here we are. my hope is that everyone goes to the website and watch as our stories. >> this is separate, but it's

the same thing. the leaked manifesto. we are going back to the covenant school in nashville, the transgender shooter. she wrote this in the manifold still purportedly. i'm a little nervous but excited. have been excited for the past two weeks. i can't believe i am doing this. i am ready. i hope my victims are. i want to kill you little racist slur. a bunch of little gay slur with your white privilege f you gay slur. it's amazing when you see this because it is all hate. however you categorize it, it is all just hate. >> yeah. this is a generation unfortunately that is being taught that words are violent and they don't understand that violence is violence. what we saw in los angeles and covenant is the end result of teaching a generation that they can hate their fellow man. we are running back to martin luther king, the color of their skin and the content of their character and who they are as
8:17 pm
people. it's a really scary time. >> your final thoughts on this? >> i think we should be looking at what is happening on american college campuses to understand because the next generation coming forward needs to understand they are being taught that there is either the oppressor or the oppressed. there is a certain ideology that is combining with the anti-semitism for real toxic brew. administrators and people of good faith really need to stand up for our jewish brothers and sisters. >> good point. thank you all. meantime we have new polling from six of the most important election battleground states in the country that show president president biden trailing former president trump in five of them in a potential rematch next year. the senior national correspondent kevin clark is live in d.c. with a closer look at these numbers. >> reporter: d.c. is abuzz over the latest poll numbers and some pendants argue that they really represent a major warning to the

elections in several states that could provide fascinating insight or some major issues going into 2024. kevin corke is back live with the break down. >> reporter: democrats would love the selection about abortion, but increasingly republican voters and apparently even the officeholders appear to be less strident when it comes to outright bans on abortion, preferring instead, or so it would seem, many have called sensible restrictions. taking a look at the latest abortion pull. this is an interesting survey that we wanted to share. do think abortion should be always legal, 35%, mostly legal 27%. mostly illegal or always illegal just 20% and 10% respectively. this as ohio voters head to the polls on tuesday to weigh in on a very closely watched proposal to establish a constitutional right to abortion and what would likely end up being an early test of where the democrats can wants again use that issue to
