a lot of young people going in the gates. what do they need to know? >> our young people need to know that solidarity with israel is of the utmost importance. they need to know they can be safe, they can have freedom at school to express their jewishness and not be afraid when they walk on campuses and their community will be there for them. >> michael. thank you very much. you can see the gates are opening there. people are starting to go in. a lot of security. it is a gorgeous day out here. we'll bring you more as we get it. >> bill: back with you throughout the day on the national mall. >> dana: iran-backed proxy forces have attacked 52 military bases in the middle east since october 17th including four new strikes since sunday when the u.s. fired retaliatory air

7:06 am
israel. earlier today there was a -- my cameraman pointed out another air strike it appears, you can hear it right there. a very massive air strike here along the northern part of the gaza strip. he will push in there. it is getting dark. that appears to be a large bomb. a bunker buster likely used by the israelis to target the tunnel system that hamas is maintaining. quite a bit of smoke and debris coming from the skyline after the sun went down here near to the israel/gaza border. what i was saying about the proxy activity across the region, there is a concern this will continue to expand. earlier today in the southern israeli city, this city sits on the red sea and one of the main targets for houthi rebels in yemen when they fire cruise missiles and drones being launched at the jewish state. israelis are maintaining air defense.
7:07 am
they have the iron dome missile defense and the arrow system to intercept projectiles faired at israel. it could be just the beginning. israeli defense officials telling fox news this week they're using 30% of their air force on the gaza strip behind me. they want to maintain the ability to respond if they are attacked from the north or other locations. >> bill: a quick question on the hospital in gaza city. do you have updates whether or not there has been any movement on either side as of today? >> it's a great question and we understand there are conversations going back and forth between the wing of the military engaged in aid to go to the palestinian people and hamas. they are not speaking directly but through third parties or the director of the hospital, the largest hospital in the gaza strip. we understand there are not only premature babies and dialysis patients and other people inside the hospitals.

7:11 am
israel that is something our own martha maccallum saw. she has talked about it on air and we did a podcast. it is interesting they are deciding to do it now. what do you know about that? is it a bipartisan group that's in there? >> yeah it is a bipartisan group. that happened this morning. some members have been walking out and talking to our cameras. debbie dingle of michigan walked out and one of our producers said that she was visibly shaken and still digesting what she had seen. for a lot of these members it's really important to see with their own eyes what happened. we also know a lot of members have gone to israel since this attack to be on the ground and talk to the families of these hostages in person just to really have a clear understanding of what they are dealing with. >> dana: i'm sure we'll hear more from them on that. >> while we understand we aren't going to raft our way out of this violence we know that young people need to have consequences
7:12 am
and boundaries. >> this is the washington, d.c. mayor, mural bowser talking tough on crime. some are saying it's about time. is the white house getting that message or passing the buck to congress? we have a story on that coming up. >> dana: the evidence is in, idf showing weapons seized from hamas under a hospital. will this convince skeptics who support the terror group? huge group is on the national mall in the march for israel ready. >> this is a fight between israel and hamas. complicit in the deaths of innocent palestinians as in the deaths of innocent israelis.

>> the evidence at this hospital indicates clearly that there were what appears to be hostages on that site. the whole setup of the basement appears to be a locked down quarters where the videos for ransom and psychological terrorism can be made. >> bill: you know what the battle is now over this hospital in gaza city. i will show you two maps behind me what appears to be the exact image from above. the hospital is a big area covers many city blocks. it is a large spot here and we've pointed out the maternity department, the out patient clinics, emergency department, surgery building. the internal medicine and dialysis center. the idf has this place surrounded and there are patients inside. israelis fear that hamas is hiding there as well. this is what the idf has put out publicly. watch the screen change here,
7:47 am
okay? you see those five markers that the idf has indicated? this is what the israelis believe underground complexes in all these different locations. now, if i were to on this map circle all five of these structures, okay? i will go back to the previous map and i will show you israel's argument, okay? maternity department. people sheltering. morgue, outpatient clinic, surgery building. internal medicine and dialysis. this is what israel believes hamas is using. there is an intriguing line in the "new york times." i will read it. the hospital has emerged of the symbol of the other side's inhumanity. when you see rallies around the world saying israel is the aggressor because babies are dying inside the hospital but israel will argue hamas is using
7:48 am
the hospital to defend its own fighters. dana has a special friend. >> dana: a very effective illustration of what is happening. i want to bring in benjamin hall here in new york stechlt great to have you here. you have covered many wars. what will it take for the rest of the media to understand what bill just said about hamas using their own citizens as human shields? >> bill: it is really difficult at the moment. all the videos you have coming out of gaza is from hamas and terrible images of people caught in the hospital. idf have said they've known for many years the hospitals were being used as hamas centers and they haven't gone in. they needed protect the people there. now they have no option after october 7th. hamas has made it clear their whole point of life is martyrdom and don't mine dying if it leads to the next life. that's what they're doing and
7:49 am
the idf says they are doing to the people in the hospital as well. israelis are finding it difficult. they are trying to take incubators for the children who need it. but it is a very difficult situation but israel is certain of one thing. they need to remove the threat that is after them. >> bill: you do so well as examining the region. i want to broaden it out. one more point. hamas has ruled the gaza strip for 16 years. the israelis stayed away from that hospital before because they didn't want to put civilians in danger. this time they feel like they have no choice. the broader issue of what's happening in the region listen to benjamin netanyahu what he considers the axis of terror used many times in the past but now being redefined today. watch. >> the axis of terror is controlled by iran, run by iran, financed by iran. iran, hezbollah in lebanon, hamas in gaza, houthis in yemen and other mignons.
7:50 am
they want to bring the middle east and world back to the dark ages. >> bill: if you don't go after the root cause you will probably have another conflict sooner rather than later. >> administration made it clear they don't want to escalate things with iran and holding back. the country that seems to be funding and training hamas and hezbollah isn't feeling the pinch. that's the big question. how far do you respond on iran? it is not just hamas and hezbollah. iran is helping russia, helping in a big way at the moment. it is reaching out to china. the oil prices are spiking and that's helping iran. iran is benefiting right now and there aren't any consequences. the big question is how does the u.s. push back against them? the strikes we've seen on some of the shia headquarters in syria and iraq, they do nothing to iran. iran doesn't notice the loss of those few soldiers. they have just replace them. how do you deal with a country funding and financing the terrorism without it escalating
7:51 am
to another war? >> bill: knowing you have been to the outposts, could we take them out in a day or two? >> you can take them out but they will be replaced. i spoke with vice president pence earlier and the cruise missiles after the gas attacks. they took out solomony. there are questions about the administration should be doing more and sending a clear enough message to iran. they're benefiting. side-by-side they were with the crown prince of saudi arabia, the iranian president. they're meeting together and somehow have been brought together against israel. diplomatically iran is benefiting. they are trying to replace the saudi/israel bond. iran is making big moves and they don't seem to be stopped. >> dana: nobody is protesting against their human rights violations.
7:52 am
>> absolutely. >> dana: great to see you. >> bill: thank you, ben. tens of thousands expected to gather on the national mall in washington, d.c. for this pro-israel rally. in direct response to the surge in anti-semitism not just here but around the world. we'll check back in there and see how it goes as we move closer toward the beginning of that event. spital. i was 5...6 years of age and i knew i was going to be a vet. once alexandra called me to let me know that bank of america had approved my loan... it was important to me. we not only just provide the financing piece, we do everything that we can to surround them with the right people. all you need is a perfect, amazing team that will guide you through the right steps to be successful. and that's what bank of america was for me.

>> bill: so from moments ago this is the president at the white house talking about climate change. he goes to san francisco, a big meeting tomorrow. watch here. >> president biden: above all it shows us climate action offers an opportunity for the nation to come together and do some really big things. i've seen firsthand what the reports make clear, the devastating toll climate change and its threat to all of us and is the ultimate threat to humanity, climate change. i've walked the streets of

louisiana, new jersey, new york, florida, puerto rico where floods and hurricanes and catastrophic winter storms and tornadoes devoured everything in their path, schools, businesses, police stations. >> bill: that was the essential message. later on in the tape play back as we call it he is asked about a cease-fire and-or hostage exchange. he said i don't want to get ahead of the information to paraphrase. we'll stand by. >> dana: once again he walked away from the microphone. hard to hear him when he wants to make news. pet peeve. tens of thousands gathering at the mall short their support for israel and condemn hatred of jews. o one of those is our next guest tulsi gabbard. what is the atmosphere like? >> i will be heading there
7:57 am
shortly from the studio. on the way here the roads are blocked, people are pouring in from all across the country to take this very important stand against anti-semitism and against the hamas terrorist islamist groups setting this call to action to people around the world to go after and destroy and kill anyone who doesn't adhere to their radical interpretation of islam. i have to tell you there is a very loud absence, though, in knowing that president biden and vice president harris are just down the street as people are traveling from all over the country, yet they don't feel it's important enough to come and stand with our fellow americans to send this strong and resounding message at a time when anti-semitic attacks around the world are at their height, that we will not allow it to continue, that we stand with israel and the jewish people. they are a reminder of why i

left the democratic party. it has become led and reiff in islamist. people more afraid of being called islam fobs than actually showing up for america and jewish people for peace and security and freedom. >> bill: have you been surprised by the anti-semitic rallies that we have seen? perhaps not in the middle east and in europe but in the united states? >> yeah, bill, a friend of mine in new york city friday night he and his friends were in a van. they got caught in the middle of a flash mob of people who call themselves pro-palestinian protestors but really they are pro-hamas protestors who went and attacked their van. slashed tires, broke windows for no reason. and these are things that we don't -- they are not things that have happened, at least in my lifetime here on the streets

of the united states of america and yet they are happening across the country. i am a soldier. i serve in the army reserve. i've seen firsthand the threat of islamist terrorists whether they are called al qaeda, isis or others and now hamas we're seeing it with. the threat is very real. the greatest short term and long term threat that we face threatening our peace and security and peace and security of people around the world because of their goal. their goal is not really about the territory between israel and gaza or palestine. their goal is to establish a global islamist caliphate and destroy anyone who doesn't adhere to their idea of islam including muslims and christians. our leaders here in the country and around the world need to take this threat and work together to defeat it not only

militarily but ideologically. >> dana: what do you make of the anti-semitism on campuses? >> imagine these kids having to hide in libraries, in college campuses. it is awful that this is being allowed to happen. we aren't hearing anything from the white house denouncing it or taking action to stop it. >> bill: we'll see how it goes today in washington, d.c. tulsi gabbard with us there. talk about a hostage exchange. nothing is firm. nothing is concrete. it is super tricky to figure this out. we'll wait to see. >> dana: might have been one of the reasons the president was reluctant to take questions at the microphone if i'm being charitable. he said i don't want to get ahead of the information. we'll watch the rally today. happy birthday to bill hemmer. harris faulkner will take you through the next hour. "the faulkner focus" is next. [gunfire
