nypd knows the situation by now, that they have to prepare for the protests and the protestors as they are calling for ceasefire. in manhattan, in front of the governor's office, she might not be there but the protestors will be outside. you see the barricades set up and the officers on standby. there is the buildings, waiting to see some action. this is just 1 of 3 big protests planned in the city tonight alone. the u.s. campaign for palestinian rights says more than 2 million palestinian people have been trapped in gaza to demand an immediate ceasefire, no such thing as two sides to the conflict. last friday we were out here in manhattan walking around the city streets and talking to protestors to find out why they are so passionate about this, sometimes when you go to put them on camera they don't want to talk and their faces are covered, we'll see if we can talk to them later today. but bryant park is the

phobic incidents on the campuses. after the biden administration has faced growing criticism from the jewish community over the lack of fighting antisemitic rhetoric. eli, host of the reeducation podcast. great to have you back on again. six colleges and universities and one school district, cornell, columbia, wellsly, uhyphen, lafayette, and mays in kansas. what took so long for the biden administration to initiate this investigation, because in the past they see an issue that aligns with their narrative they jump on it. this took a long time for them to take action. >> you know, i would say this, that i do think that it's deplorable the kind of activities and the double standard exposed since october 7th, especially on the college and university campuses, which will take action against

students for the slightest of microaggressions. i think that there are dangers of involving the federal government in this kind of question because the definition of antisemitism at times can be nebulous, even though i don't think we would in any way disagree with some of the incidents on the campuses, and i worry that maybe the best tool right now is what we have already seen, well think alumni, student groups themselves taking on some of these people. so for far too long, you know, the cretins on the campuses have not had a real pushback. i think the majority of americans find their world view and their behavior despicable and time to use our own first amendment speech to counter it. i'm wary of involving the federal government, and say it as a jewish person. >> john: some of the people you describe as cretins are actually teaching.

purge, you know, franz fernand from the curriculum, but people who justify horrific violence if it's against the colonial oppressor, they are trying to get rid of the dead white men in the curriculum, it's time to push back and the leaders, presidents of the universities cannot find the sort of fortitude to push back against the faculty at this point, then we might have to start creating new universities or, you know, the value of a harvard diploma at this point, what is it worth if the graduate is going to come into your workplace and try to make their own rules because they don't feel comfortable. >> john: as we saw in the cardona statement, it's all inclusive. it really does begin and almost to some degree end with how jewish students are feeling on campus. >> what is happening on

cornell's campus and across universities in this country is not about protecting expressions of free speech or free exchange of ideas. it is about enabling and even promoting intimidation and the threat of harm to jewish students. >> we have had professors on our campus in the past two weeks calling for intifada. >> being a jewish student at nyu is scary. uptick in anti-israel protests that are turning antisemitic. >> john: we saw the video of the jewish student at harvard. >> by the editor of the law review. >> john: one of those people. these universities, woke colleges and universities bend over backwards to create safe spaces and rooms where students can go to cry, yet if you are a jewish student fend for yourself. >> this is the ideology, and i see it all over the jewish community right now. you are finding a kind of reawakening, if you will, from a

millions in the region under communication blackout with no internet or phone service. trey yingst is live in southern israel for us. what is the latest from there, trey? >> hey, sandra, good afternoon. israeli forces continued to operate inside gaza city, specifically at the al-shifa hospital, released new video today of what they say is part of a tunnel network beneath gaza. and it is critical to note here, this is the only video they have released of tunnels so far. they say there is a larger complex that will be revealed but we have not yet seen any further evidence to support those claims. and released video showing weapons they say were recovered at shifa hospital. earlier this week we were with the israelis less than 24 hours after they conducted their initial raid at the hospital compound inside an mri room. they showed us what they say are weapons that were stashed by hamas. no way to independently verify if, when, how, and where they

were found but the israelis say they were found in the hospital. we did pose this question to hamas, a senior official sending a text denying any weapons were stored in the hospital and comes as israeli forces go through buildings as there are still patients being treated there. they overnight found the bodies of two hostages that were dragged into gaza during the massacre on october 7, 1 a woman from a small community that sits near the gaza border in her mid 60s, she was a cancer patient, and she was slaughtered. her body recovered by the israelis, additionally, a 19-year-old israeli soldier that according to hamas was killed in an israeli airstrike. i'm going to toss back to you. we understand you have breaking news here. >> sandra: we do, thank you. back to you shortly. president biden now in the bilat with the mexican leader. let's listen. >> heart of the los angeles declaration of migration and protection, and we and 19 other

far as complimenting president biden on his border policies, listen, we know president trump laid in heavy on mexico, but it worked. they sent troops to their border and brought this illegal entry into our country, made it a nonissue for a long time and we could have probably built a wall or done something more important to stem the tide now. when mexico gets the green light to look the other way, the only one who suffers the consequence is america. look what happened here. we have to cut our police force in new york city because of this, right. this is a national issue. it was always a national issue and brought up the fentanyl just like president xi brought up fentanyl, all lip service, all lip service and i will say one thing, mexico is benefitting huge from this on-shoring movement, re-shoring movement for the last five years. it is amazing how much they are benefitted. proximity to america but the ability to have a less expensive workforce, right now the greatest beneficiary the fact that americans are moving businesses out of china, away

is what was not less. car insurance up 19%. car repairs up 10%, transportation inflation up 9%. rent inflation up 7%. homeowner inflation up at 7%. food away from home inflation up 5%. cereal and bakery products up 4%. these are everyday items, everyday items that the average american, 78%, what they are living with. yesterday walmart reported earnings but said something else, they brought up the word deinflation, or the fact that prices are going down. as bad as inflation is, if we ever alert to a deflaation death spiral, and prices come down for all of us. but beyond that, it's really bad. and the chief investment officer there said how much it's changed in the last 90 days. >> sandra: for the consumer behavior. >> consumer behavior, the last 90 days alone.

unmitigated disaster and focused on households and how they feel about the environment, economic environment. i'm worried, sandra, we are going to go from the high inflationary period, even at 3.2% is high, to something that might even be worse if we go into a deeper recession. i don't know it has to happen. a lot depends on the federal reserve. but what they do depends whether or not our government stops spending money. we are spending so much money. bond auctions where we raise money has been disastrous, unmitigated disastrous. >> sandra: probably oversimplifying it, but when the federal reserve makes the interest rate, they strip out some prices. so core prices coming down, ok, well, we are getting to a better place right now. well, those high interest rates are stifling americans affordability of homes is way down. >> worst ever. >> worst ever. >> sandra: we'll have you back with some good news next time, charles, thank you.

target for military purposes? >> it's a really difficult scenario but unfortunately they will. if their plan is to showcase the difference between israeli tactics and the fight that they are bringing and the tactics used by hamas and other outside agitators that are amplifying the effort and the carnage, they have tochlt and that's the delicate balance of the more technology you use, the more advanced weaponry and equipment you have to mitigate threats also destroys that critical and incidental intelligence. israel is in a long, dirty fight. they'll have to send troops down into the tunnel networks and that's also a delicate balance about the moment you start dumping bodies in a hole you have to be aware of where those go. and so they don't want to flush out individuals that can then emerge from other locations in the city that are unperceived, so it's a multi-factor approach they have to basically surround the adjacent regions and continue to probe and find areas where individuals might flee once they do make entry. but they will have to. >> john: we were talking on

whether or not they are using the tunnel or bug out somewhere else. >> i think it's likely they do for some strategic purpose, but remember, hamas is not new to this fight. they are not the real freedom fighters people think they are. they move from a place that's a strategic advantage to another. so they are quick to adapt like wolves to move from one region to another. i would not be surprised if the command center and other posts have been moved to adjacent areas in the city. >> john: so israel is setting sights on the southern part of invasion, gallant says it will include the north and the south. leaflets were dropped over khan younis, and said for your safety you need to evacuate your places of residence immediately and head to known shelters. anyone near terrorists or their facilities puts their life at risk and every house used by terrorists will be targeted. when do you think israel moves

the ground operation to the southern part of gaza? >> that's a difficult balance. obviously every piece of territory you have to hold and retain all the infrastructure supply, resupply, along those lines. parts of southern gaza you have to use tanks and aviation support while keeping the systems in place is not easy. keeping refuel, water, food for troops is not a simple task. so, what i project right now, because of the northern command being very active and alert, is that they are not trying to get in too far without basically spreading their forces thin. so, once they fully mitigate aspects of northern gaza, they will migrate down. i would expect they are already probing now, even though we don't see it on the news, my imagination would be they have individuals in a more clandestine manner, looking for points to access the southern aspect of gaza, so as when they bring the calvary, so to speak with the tanks and large vehicles they know exactly how

city center of grindavik, it's crossed off the sign, so is the famous blue lagoon, indicating you cannot go forward past the sign unless you are search and rescue or construction vehicles. take a look at the new shots we are seeing of cracks in the earth as well as in buildings and roads in and around grindavik. there have been 2,000 earthquakes in the last 24 hours. small quakes, magnitude 1, but scientists say the seismic activity is indicative of a looming eruption. iceland is building a defensive wall around a nearby geothermal electric power plant and the blue lagoon to protect it from streams of lava, a ten mile tunnel full of magma is under the town and they expect somewhere it will erupt. first responders have been allowed into grindavik and the 3800 people fully evacuated from the town have been allowed to go back with a police escort for ten minutes or so to pick up
