>> trace: good evening i'm trace gallagher, it's 11:00 p.m. on the east coast 8:00 in los angeles and this is america's late news, fox news at night. and breaking tonight, the pause in fighting between israel and hamas is now moving into its fifth day and, remember, four days wag the original time line. meaning more hostages are likely to be released but israel has made it very clear the fighting will go on and it will be severe. jeff paul is live on the ground for us in tel aviv. jeff, what are you hearing about time lines? >> reporter: well, yeah, trace, we in fact just got some information that the israeli government now has a list of names of the next group of hostages they expect to be released tomorrow, signaling that this deal between israel and hamas has, in fact, been extended, at least beside a day. again this is all day to day very tense negotiations going on. but this is footage from tonight of some of the 11 hostages that were just released, back here on israeli soil being chopered over to one of the area hospitals to

get checked out. here's what we know about this group tonight. two mothers involved in there, in that release, and nine kids. the youngest, twin three year old girls. just the day before 14 israelis made the same journey and joined 26 other israelis released in the previous days. they're all now getting care and treatment after spending roughly seven weeks likely exclusively in the darkness of those hamas tunnels. over the next two days we could see yet more hostages being released after a qatary negotiator said the trues between both sides had been extended by two days. keep in mind once hamas stops releasing hostages israeli forces will likely resume their combat organizes in gaza to both eliminate hamas and get the rest of the hostages back home. there are still more than a hundred hostages still being held by hamas and the families of those who have already been rescued say they are not stopping until everyone is home. >> if there's one feeling that

♪ >> trace: well, new polls show the republican presidential field gaining zero ground on president trump and with iowa just 49 days away it's crunch time for those hoping to stay in the race. bill melugin is live with more on that story bill. >> reporter: trace is really is crunch time for these gop presidential candidates we're closing out the year, the iowa caucuses are less than two months away and thee candidates are trying to get more face time with voters. start with nikki haley held a town hall in florida targeting governor ron desantis recently and top donors believe she has a chance to take down donald trump in the gop primaries at least according to the new york times. >> i have been underestimated in everything i've ever done. and it's a blessing, because it

makes me scrappy. >> reporter: meanwhile desantis has been going on offense against haley recently as well. the two of them scuffled at the last debate. he said this about haley on fox tonight. >> i think she's just fundamentally out of step with republican voters. i think she's relying on liberal media to prop her up. >> reporter: meanwhile former president donald trump attended south carolina's rivalry college football game where he was greeted with cheers and some boos as well, this over the weekend. he also slammed a top evangelical leaders who endorsed desantis calling him a, quote, scammer. as for vivek ramaswamy he spent the weekend campaigning in new hampshire. looking ahead the iowa caucuses set for january 15th really the first indicator we'll get as to whether or not any of these non-trump candidates can possibly notch an early win against him. we'll have to wait and see trace. >> trace: it is a big indicator and a big day. bill thank you.

let's brit in adjunct professor at loyola ethan bearman along with senior fellow attorney may mailman. thank you for coming on. i want to put this up because this is a republican strategist talking about iowa. iowans kick the tires on every candidate up until the last second. vivek enjoyed a moment in late summer and early fall not to say he can't get it back but right now it's down to two races, how much will trump win by and will desantis or haley come in second. fair assessment ethan? >> that is a reasonable assessments as far as iowa goes but let's not forget new hampshire where chris christie is still in the top three. that's going to be a unique one here to see if his role of maybe stepping out of the race will benefit haley. >> trace: yeah. on to this another iowa republican strategist says nicky talking about nikki haley has a lot of national momentum and is also making a run in iowa so i think this final phase will be

fascinating to watch and trump appears to understand he can't take iowa for granted. although, it's notable that he leads by a bunch. may, what do you think? >> i just don't buy the nikki haley momentum necessarily. obviously i see a sort of bump in the polls where she's getting to maybe 13%, maybe even with desantis. but the problem for nikki haley is that president trump has an 80% approval rating within the republican party, and nikki haley is sort of seen as disloyal to him. she said out loud she would not run if president trump was running and here she's running. so i just don't see her able to take away a true trump voter and if you're unable to take away a trump voter, you just can't win in a republican primary. >> trace: yeah. we're going to find out. these whole things, the iowa caucuses and then you move on, ethan, as you see you say to a

lot of different places with a lot of different flavors of people. i want to move to the other side because our own lucas tomlinson asked this of president biden on saturday. watch. >> trace: if you didn't get it, mr. president are you too old to run for reelection. he said that's stupid. stupid's a bad answer though ethan because he needs to come up with an answer, it's going to be asked again and again and again especially as you go through the next several months. >> it might get asked again and again and again, he doesn't have a reasonable primary challenger he's the presumptive nominee of course running for reelection and donald trump is 4% younger than president biden. so if we're going to talk about age and mental acuity it's a non-starter. from president biden has a very strong record to run on, everything from the inflation reduction act to the pact act. >> trace: that thing has been huge. >> it has actually and it's red states benefited the most

bringing manufacturing back to america. >> trace: listen, the numbers, i think, don't really bear that out ethan but i'm going to give you that. may his age is up his approval numbers are about half his age and it's going to keep coming up again and again. the approval numbers are part and parcel because of the whole age thing. your thoughts on this. >> yeah. so obviously it's embarrassing every time you see biden step out to give an interview because you never know what's going to come out of his mouth. you don't know if he's going to trip on the stage, trip on the stares, what's going to happen. i think that age is not the problem for biden because that assumes another democrat would be better and another democrat would not be better. the problem that america is facing is we have unchecked immigration, we have rampant inflation that is harming americans, we have crime in our cities, we have wars internationally because we do not project power. so i just think, yes, age is a

anthony, the leaders of these retail gangs, they know the system very well. they bring in 16, 17 year old kids because even if they're picked up there's no consequences they're going to be back on the street and back on the job days later. it's hard to fight it. >> it is and considering the nature, $12,000 which is a lot in general, but when you have 17 people, misdemeanor charges at most, you know, no violence taking place. so yeah they're recruiting these young kids and basically using them as basically collateral to commit, you know, pretty offensive crimes in terms of taking things. and these flash mobs can be dangerous, at a certain point they can overtake someone, hurt someone. and i'm assuming there's going to be violence that's going to come at some point. >> trace: they find these kids and none are ever armed. they know the rules and how far to push this thing and they know exactly all this stuff is probably already sold before they even steal it right. >> absolutely. i've represented criminal defendants for 21 years. belief me they not, a lot of them in and out of the system

know the system so they're not going to go with in iing that can increase years or anything lying that. >> trace: meantime lexie i want to move on because we're talking about signer crime and it's amazing because guess who the leading culprits in cyber crimes, young people. teen cyber cartels, when world's most cyber criminals are minors, these young cyber criminals are hacking everything from a uk telecomes operator to the international space station. you know, you have young kids being recruited, kind of the same way as retail crime, they're being recruited by these people because they go in, they're good at hacking and they're very effective and the consequences are low. >> right. these are not your grandfather's crimes. i mean, these kids are being raised on tablets and devices and some of these people probably fancy themselves modern day robin hoods, essentially doing ethical hacking which is also an issue. this just goes to show that parents cannot leave their children cloistered in their

room on their device. when i was young we didn't have devices where i could sneak off. the computer was in my mother's roomen she was able to see what i was doing. so parents need to take that responsibility, because this is going to be happening more and more. there are even tutorials on line how to do this. so it's a real concern for the youth. >> trace: and anthony she brings up a good point because a lot of these kids believe this is a noble crime, this is a noble thing i'm doing because i'm going after those who are going after the little guy right? >> they set it up where they're modern day robin hoods. we hear so much in the liberal media about oh, you know, the corporations are taking everything so these kids now think they're robin hood and particularly if they get computer skills and can take things that way, it's amazing. >> trace: kind of goes full circle took because if they catch them which a lot of times they don't get caught lexy it becomes hey, they're 16, 17 years old, not a lot you can do
