business owners had to make tough choices. frustrating part, the administration just stayed away and said, make it through. we have seen people we love and care about and have been foundational points of this town move away and not willingly, but because they didn't feel safe. that is the scary part, we don't know, there are unanswered questions and people can feel safe or not feel safe and it is up to them. there are people riding the fence, leaders and people we vote into office have not given any. >> carley: what kind of reception will the president get when he does visit? >> not good. it is a thing we welcome him.

riley were identified, were they prosecuted? >> absolutely not and i'm certain this continues to happen. they have not been stopped, there is nothing stopping them from continuing to come into our children's phones while we're in the kitchen making dinner and make these types of threats on them. i had the conversations with riley, we were open about talking about problems and things. i was afraid someone would come to riley through video games, i never thought something like this. riley was an impulsive 15-year-old boy driven to m madness, which we know can happen to children. loving way of a mother and it is so sad to see his beautiful face

it is not different than without having hope. it is hard to know exactly where the line is drawn anymore. when you look at stories like this your heart goes out. that was a -- first of all i can't believe it has been a year, just like that. but for me the bigger story is what's going on in the minds of the country, the american dream. recent study talked about something like 67% affirmatively believe it is dead. and when you look at this kind of thing and when you start to add up all the things, you know, people are really worried. i think they have good reason to be. but i also think there is reason to hope. >> brian: right. that alarmed you. you have to have a sense that you matter. people have a sense that the world revolves around washington, d.c., los angeles, and new york. not if you travel to these places. people that watch fox don't -- aren't really in the major cities that produce the tv shows and movies but when i do a book

tour and have a chance to travel around i would never go to those places. i go to the ohios of the world and the people that keep america going. >> and they have stories hopeful for the country. my foundation right now is trying to focus on the opportunities that do exist that never get any press. these are opportunities that not only don't require four-year degree. they don't require training. these are a straight path to six figure jobs. there are thousands of them open right now. working on foundations of homes right now. giant shortage in this area. all you have to be willing to do is work. i'm not saying anybody is unwilling to work. i'm saying that if we see those opportunities for what they are, they feel a lot like hope. as we already established the feeling of hope is no different than hope. >> brian: the one thing that was grounding for me. all me and my friends did

between college and high school is do jobs nobody else wanted, cleaning up in the mall, pushing carts. you don't have to do that and you go to college and you think you will walk right to a high paying white collar job you have no sense of perspective. >> nothing is at it seems with higher education right now. it's confusing a lot of people and leading them to conclude things not true. recent study. people asked to rank the 50 things most important to them and then the 50 things they believe are most important to others. a four-year degree was number 47 out of 50. but on the other list it was three. we are laboring under the assumption that other people want stuff way more than they actually do. it is leading us to feel really crappy. that's unnecessary and wrong. >> brian: people should be educated on some high paying jobs. talk about this more on radio. wal-mart you worked your way up
