i'm kayleigh mcenany in for laura ingraham. this is a special edition of "the ingraham angle." this is breaking this hour. you are looking right outside the west wing lobby where we expect governors at any moment come forward with president biden, joe biden finally meeting with governors. it's a desperate effort to shore up support. gavin newsom, j.d. pritzker, kathy hochul, andy beshear they all rushed in from across the country, the day before the day before the 4th of july to save joe biden or are they there to assess the damage. look at the questions. all of this as a bombshell "new york times" report says that, quote: biden has told a key ally that he knows he may not be able to salvage his candidacy if he cannot convince the public in the coming days that he is up for the job after a disastrous debate performance last week. wow, the administration denies the "new york times" reporting and, instead, they are doubling

down. >> is president biden considering stepping down? >> absolutely not. >> and you heard-believe directly from the campaign as well. >> is there anything, careen, that would change his mind? >> look, um, i cannot lay out something that would change a president's mind. he has been very clear. >> kayleigh: so i guess they are saying the "new york times" reporting was just fake news. problem is it's a credible reporter. in fact, katy is the most well-sourced reporter i would say in the whole white house press corps. that's katy rogers at the "new york times." it wasn't just kjp saying that. nbc reports that biden called into a campaign staff meeting today and told them, quote: let me say this as clearly as i possibly can. as simply and straightforward as i can, i am running. no one is pushing me out. he said, i'm not leaving. i'm in this race until the end. and we're going to win. hmmm. the "new york times" siena poll disagrees entirely now showing trump with biggest lead since

2015. look at that he is outright winning young voters and latinos. winning the republican nominee. and then came the new "wall street journal" poll which finds trump with 48% support. this is the highest roar recorded support in the journal's head-to-head ballot. wow. but the question for us this hour you're looking at it, is it the beginning of the end for joe biden? all week democrat governors putting on this confident front. >> i will never turn my back on president biden. we're going to double down in the next few months and win this election. >> joe biden is going to be our nominee, unless he decides otherwise. >> joe biden is our nominee and ultimately, that decision on continuing or not will fall to him and his family. we want to make sure he is doing okay. >> kayleigh: is that why they are there? they want to make sure he is doing okay. right now, these governors are seeing joe face to faces a they determine the future direction

of their party, possibly the country. but, other top democrats, they're not so sure. listen very carefully to this. this is the biden-harris campaign co-chair. >> there will definitely be other candidates. my understanding is there are 700 uncommitted delegates. and i still believe that all the delegates are committed only for the first round. you can actually fashion the process that's already in place to make it a mini primary and i would support that. absolutely. we can't close that down. >> kayleigh: a mini primary in the biden campaign co-chair would support a mini primary. and then there's this. >> we are not operating like an authoritarian religious cult the way that the republican party operates now. there will be lots of discussion and lots of people weighing in and i know this is a moving target. it's got to happen quickly.

but i can guarantee you, chris hazechrishayes, massive unity as on that task when we get to the end of this process. it's happening very quickly. >> kayleigh: moving target, it's happening quickly. that's jamie raskin, is he a big item. the dam is opening. arizona democrat raúl joined lloyd doggett for you calling for joe biden to step aside. reuters reports that there are 25 or more house democrats that could be on the way. house democrat leadership rushed to convene a 5:00 p.m. conference call today with members to fix things. and fox news has independently confirmed that multiple letters are circulating among house democrats. house democratic leaders, they haven't seen the letters, that's what fox is told. one senior house democrat told punch bowl, quote: he needs to

start showing and stop telling, otherwise, he will lose more house dems, it is that acute. according to the seen your house democrat, the next wave of calls to step down will be from quote senior members and veteran senators whose opposition could prove fatal to the president's re-election bid. and we, of course, wait to hear from those governs, that is obama is even expressing doubts telling allies biden's already tough path to reelection grew more challenging after his shaky debate performance on thursday. boy, when you have lost obama. senior white house correspondent jacqui heinrich is live at the white house with the very latest on biden's meeting. jacqui, what are you hearing there? >> jacqui: kayleigh, we are watching the crock to see how long this meeting goes. it is crossing over to past thee half hour mark now. 222 are meeting. we were told that some of them would come to the camera at its conclusion and talk to us. if that doesn't happen, it will be a major indicator of what

kind of sense they got as they are trying to determine for themselves whether the president is up to the job and whether they can continue to pledge their support to him. meantime, the biden campaign is forcefully denying a new cnn report that says that there a succession plan underway should president biden decide step aside. that report had a lot of details in it that biden would first throw his support behind his vice president and then former president and party leaders would do the same in hopes of staving off a contentious fight for the top of the ticket. the campaign tells fox there is, quote: literally zero truth to this roller. we should know it is the second report that come out and. "new york times" claimed a bind am lie said the president tell them is he weighing dropping out. any halt ling circling of the

president himself. dialed into all staff call today and said is he not leaving the race. that message went out in a text to supporters a fundraising text which reads i'm the party's nominee. no one is pushing me out. i'm not leaving. i'm in this race until the end. and we are going to win this election. but, the calls keep coming. a second democratic house member calls for biden to step aside as did the "boston globe" editorial board which wrote with the nation's future at stake this is not a decision that should be made by any one family alone. a moment when the democratic party itself. never particularly good at behaving like a party must step into the fray. so the president is meeting with the governors is the next news item we are trying to follow katie. that will give a met direct on what the next few days look like. a kay indeed they will. joining me now is presidential candidate. vivek, at any moment, we could see gretchen whitmer.

biden's fitness, what else are they also lying to us about now? who is actually runnings government in the united states of america? and the sad truth is, kayleigh, we lack a good answer to that question. i think we, the people, deserve honesty in this country that's not a left wing or right wing point and i think that's the most important question right now to come out of all of this. >> kayleigh: a lot is weighing down on the president. democratic lawmakers coming out one by one. internal polling that is coming out of the biden campaign that is suggesting states like new mexico are in jeopardy. states like new hampshire that biden won by 7. new mexico he won by 11. virginia he won by 10. you got this polling crushing in and nor and more reporting. the "new york times" saying democratic reed hastings calls on biden to step aside. what is the straw that breaks the camel's back? is it the polls? is it it the donors in is it the lawmakers? >> hastings who also writes the check to barack obama by the way. this is a whole network and netflix deals.

does that give the democrats an advantage are there where maybe president trump would pick something different. they may want to play their hands that way going forward. to me that's disadvantage. if they go to kamala -- i come from california. the other thing they have to remember is she is not a good campaigner. she was the weaketh for the dems. reason the senate top two. she was running against another democrat in the general election and they had to come nnsd a save her. she started out for president she started out strong and then collapsed. you got to be concerned if she was to get into this race, as a democrat, she is not a good campaigner. >> kayleigh: speaker mccarthy, have you sat across from biden. you have observed and questioned his mental acuity. i talk to house speaker mike johnson and i asked is his mental acuity all there he? said no. you guys are the horse's mouth. have you sat there. is there any conceivable way that karine jean-pierre and

talking to democrats in d.c. i spend all my time talking to democrats, independents and republicans and in colorado. >> so you think you could skip over the vice president theoretically? you would be okay? you just want someone who can win? >> listen. i support the vice president to run. i support the 10 or 15 names that get banter dollars around after the past year. i wish for the sake of the country i'm not focused on party politics for the sake of the country, i wish there was two open primaries as opposed to just one. and for the sake of the country, i think it's really sad it's not just the republican party who is saying privately one thing differently as they say publicly. and you obviously now have the democratic party running around in the same line of defense which is they are saying one thing privately and another thing publicly. and i just think that's bad for the country and that's certainly why so many people across my district are frustrated with politics as normal. and i'm trying to run against that. >> kayleigh: you know, adam, biden said no one is pushing me out. i'm not leaving.

the feedback was we are all looking for the path to win. all the governors agree with that. president biden agrees with that he has had our backs through covid, through all of the recovery, all the things that have happened. the governors have his back and we are working together just to make very, very clear on that. a path to victory in november is the number one priority and that's the number one priority of the president. so that's what we're trying to get done. the feedback was good. the conversation was honest and open. and the action that will come out of that will make sure we are getting out with that governor moore? >> thank you so much. it was great conversation with the president and vice president. it was honest and candid. i think that you know, we always believe that when you love someone, you tell them the truth. and i think we came in and we were honest about the feedback that we were getting.

we were honest about the concerns that we were hearing from people. and we're also honest about the fact that as the president continued to tell us and show us that he was all in. that we said that we would stand with him because, as governor walls said the president has always had our backs. we're going to have his back as well. because the results that we have been able to see under this administration have been undeniable in all of our individual states. but, the thing that makes us most optimistic and most hopeful is not necessarily that we're afraid of an alternative. but also is that we are hopeful for the future. so we know we have work to do. we know that as we are standing right here, we're behind. but we also know that that path to be able to make sure that we can pull ahead in november is real and it's going to take all of us in order to make it happen and to make it work and we are grateful to hear the level of excitement and the focus that the president and the vice president have about being victorious in november. and with that i will turn it over to governor hochul. >> thank you.

representing states like new york and all across america, we came together tonight to listen to president biden tell us in his own words what his plans were i'm here to tell you today president joe biden is in it to win it. all of us said we are pledge our support to him because the stakes could not be higher. even the 4th of july celebration we talk about how we transition under a monarchy and tyranny that our founding fathers fought against that we risk right now descending back into that very same place. we will stand with the president fight that force. that force being donald trump. and together we'll make sure that americans know not just what joe biden did for all of us and the list for what he did for my state of new york is extraordinarily long but where is he going for the future and where is he going to take this country. we feel very confident in his ability and talked about the plan and how is he going to be focused on i that matter to americans and i felt very confident coming out of this

meeting as well. >> is he physically -- do you think admit for office. >> yes he is fit for office. three and a half years of delivering for us. going through what we have all been through. none of us are denying thursday night was a bad performance. it was a bad -- it was a bad hit, if you will on that. but it doesn't impact what i believe he is delivering. [shouting questions] >> what would you say to people writing policy. [inaudible] >> i would say this in november we have got a clear choice. the president was very clear that he is in this to win this. the president is going to -- the president is our nominee. the president is our party leader. and the president has told us and very clear back there that he is in this to win this. so for people i would say and listen, we are governors, we don't do hand wringing that's not what we do. governors work and get things done. governors say tell me the objective and we will make sure we accomplish the objective. so for people who are concerned, i just want to be very clear on

something. and come november we have a binary choice. the binary choice is between someone who is continually delivered for us and our states and the people of our states and frankly someone whose vision for the future of this country is down right dangerous. and so i would tell people it is time to mount up. sand it is time to get serious. [shouting questions] >> >> how does the president explain debate performance to you on thursday night? does he understand the stakes? >> yeah. he did. he said look, he i thought he gave a great example. he said look i'm worrying about numbers on this. it's about people. it's about their lives. this is joe from scranton. he talks about building the middle class. he did it. he delivered. this idea that you get in your own head. you get a little bit cycled up on that. what we saw in there today was the guy that all of us believed in the first time that could beat donald trump and did beat donald trump. with that we thank you.

>> why didn't we hear anything -- >> kayleigh: that was stunning. i want what they ever drinking there in the white house. those are democrat governors. you heard governor tim walls, we all agree we want to a path to win. you all heard governor wes moore. when you love someone you tell them the truth. the truth, america saw the truth. you have a president that didn't demonstrate mental acuity. and you have hochul of new york, is he in it to win it. you know, i really look forward to the leaks of what actually happened in that meeting. back with us now is kevin mccarthy. former speaker of the house. speaker mccarthy, the immediate thought that came to mind is where it governor gavin newsom? where is j.d. pritzker? they weren't there. >> where's gretchen? michigan. if that was to reassure the american public or just to reassure democrats that they are with him. what did they do? they reminded america that they had a terrible night. they said they were way behind. and they said we were straight

with the president. that's what friends do. tell him his problem. that just reminded everybody of the problem. and every governor in that room was probably measuring that room picturing them behind the podium and an opportunity to be it. but they did not send out the a team. it was the b team and then the b team reminded them of all the problems they have. >> kayleigh: that's surface sinating to me. you and i have both taken to that very same mic. you know where it is right outside of the west wing lobby. i have had to walk to those reporters and face the music. have you had to walk to those reporters and face the music. not music like this. this is positively an orchestra very loud not quite like this. however, do you think whitmer newsom and pritzker all potential replacements and kamala was at the meeting. do you think they all just decided we are sitting this one out? >> you watch it. you know, you predetermine who is going to come out there why wouldn't you pick the people you think going to replace you to be the people out there rallying the democrats behind you? it gave you more questions by

having those three out there than answering any of them. it now makes me think gavin is not with them. kamala harris, maybe those four are back there plotting who is going to be the nominee and who is going to be the vice president? how c can we be -- who can be a cabinet member like they are working against the president. >> kayleigh: you know, speaker mccarthy, we heard winning, winning, winning. we are all on this path to inwithing. i think they should go to a coffee shop. there used to be one across the street. pick up the "new york times." >> the "new york times" has internal polling from a biden super pac that shows trump winning new mexico. shows him winning new hampshire. shows him winning virginia. these are states that biden won by double digits. so, is this just false confidence? i mean, how can they really believe this? >> i think this is just continual lies. also new jersey. there is not one state that president trump won last time that troubling in. he is actually added and even stronger. that's why every hour goes forward, there will be another democrat elected in congress to come out against biden.

this did not help biden bringing all the governors in but not putting the a tier candidates out there to go rally behind him. and even these who rally behind him weren't. they were pointing out his negatives. >> kayleigh: speaker mccarthy. thanks very much. >> thank you. >> kayleigh: here to react is fox news contributor raymond arroyo. governor -- hiding behind the white house podium? is biden doing that odd thing where he like shows people where the white house pool used to be in the middle of the night? like where are they? >> well, look, i think they totally missed the boat here. the governors come out and say we're convinced now biden is in it to win it. no one doubts that he is in it to win it. the question is his mental acuity and his capabilities at this point to execute his office. and when they say this is a path to victory for us. that is the focus. no. the focus is the best president to marshall our state craft at

this moment. not anybody, but the best person. america should really take notice as they hear that it seems they are more interested in maintaining power than about the true state of joe biden. everybody is talking about this being aberration, kayleigh or one night affair. no, i have been covering joe biden since his senate days. i remember sitting in the senate lunchroom with him. we go way back. this is not the same joe biden. and we covered this decline over many years. the fact that everybody is just waking up to it now i frankly i don't know what they have been drinking. this was a sad display and it's not what people needed to hear tonight from these governors. >> kayleigh: you know, raymond, the line this that stuck in my mind wes moore saying when you love someone you tell them the truth. we are reading tea leaves and what comes out. the person that seems to be loving him and telling the truth. valerie stick with it according to jonathan lumiere i worry for your health and legacy. why aren't more people saying
