>> anita: hurricane beryl is on its way to mexico and could hit south texas as early as monday. after damaging winds and rains ripped through the cayman islands and jamaica. fox weather correspondent robert gray reports live from the west coast of jamaica. hi, robert, how does it look out there and how are you doing? >> yes, good afternoon to you from jamaica, an island that just got pummeled by hurricane beryl. a category 4 that came through here yesterday evening. take a look at this visual as we were live reporting, that is me standing there taking 80-90-mile-an-hour wind gusts storm surge coming through just a tremendous amount of fury and energy by hurricane beryl that is historic. you know this storm several days ago became the first category 5 in june history since records have been taking and the first category 4 as it was downgraded in july history.
10:52 am
now it is just pushed to a category 2 as it is crossing the cayman islands and over into the yucatan and to texas late weekend early this week but the news out of here is sad and affluent. we have one confirmed a death jamaica, a tree fell on a woman's home and she lost her life. we have a total of 11 deaths across the caribbean as beryl has shown just terrible energy and taking lives and destroying homes. downed power lines here in jamaica, roads that are compromised, trees all over the place and communication almost zero at this point. cell phone service is really not happening. the only reason we are getting this shout out is because of elon musk's darlings that goes up into space and comes back down and allows us to have thise do here is traversing the islano the southern part of the island where the eye came closest and we will assess that damage and

then head to kingston and have more reporting tomorrow on exactly what is happening here in jamaica. terrible in the hurricane season, texas get ready. beryl shows absolutely no remorse. back to you. >> anita: goodness, robert please stay safe a pretty good balancing act there we saw in those category 4 4 winds. >> alicia: anita fox digital is asking around the country what independence means to them. >> red, white, and blue, freedom, american values. >> is important to remember for the history, people who lost their lives fighting for that, and all of the freedoms it gives us. >> we celebrate the freedom of america, but i feel like it is being lost. >> meanwhile like many young americans celebrating july 4th are losing hope in the american dream.
10:54 am
a recent survey finds more than half of those age 18-29 see the american dream as something that was once possible but isn't anymore. let's bring in jack brewer former nfl player and chairman of the jack brewer foundation. jack, it is so good to see you, happy fourth to you. >> happy for. >> anita: what you think about that? we have these young folks the future of the country feeling like the american dream is not really possible for them any anymore. >> it is so sad i am five years old and growing up 30 years ago it was the complete opposite. it was really my favorite holiday of the year celebrating the fourth of july and think about all of the dedication and the sacrifice people made for us to have these freedoms, you know? and for our kids today. and i have a chance to mentor kids across the country doing the work of the jack brewer foundation going to prisons and jails and going to these underserved communities, it is

sad to see the american hope being lost. so many feel like it's out of touch. and i think more importantly they are not being educated on. i think they are in school systems we are sending our kids to the public schools that are in part always demoting american values and talking about history and the ways that really teaches our kids that we are so blessed to live in this nation. i mean you go to parts of africa and india and asia and even europe, people are trying to lead to come into our country. so the fact that our own citizens who are born here who are blessed with these freedoms don't realize what the sacrifices that are made, it is quite sad. >> alicia: you put up a really good point here we would have a fox news poll registered voters under the age of 35 and the question was are you proud of the country today or not? only 33% said yes. 66% said no. you think those two are tied together? >> i do.
10:56 am
i think it is a real contrast. i think of the contrast in parenting. i think we have to realize we are a nation and we leave the world. i don't think we have these two-parent homes we used to have so the values that used to be instilled in our children are being lost. you know, you look across the spectrum at the issues facing our land, 71% of kids who drive by the high school you look at poverty you are four times likelier to live in poverty if you are fatherless. so it's a fatherless nation. the bible teaches us and the word teaches us he shall turn his heart to the father to the parts of the children in the hearts of the children to the father. if you want to find freedom go to second corinthians the third chapter. it will tell you freedom and liberty is found through the lord. and i think that is what's happening come we don't teach the ten commitments in our
