pros part of the, peace, safety, i mean, they have done it in california. it has happened in california for election cycle after election cycle. will this happen again, given what have you seen and the level of decline that has befallen your state of california and other cities across the country? >> california is a shadow of itself. and it's moving thwarts marxism. i'm a child of war torn vietnam. and we escaped communism and marxism. and i'm not going to allow the united states to fall to that i support trump, and i'm really excited with the talk, the debate with trump. and elon because both of them are into innovation equality. they treat everybody the same over equity. god says we are all born equal but to get equity you have to work for it. and, in this country, you come to this country, you are born in

but those events where he goes in to chicago, go to oakland where i believe kamala harris was born. get to the people there -- those policies have destroyed the lives of middle clatsz and low income people. destroyed them. and stand with those people? i would, if i were running, i mean, that's what i would do. >> i think that's a great idea. look, here in chicago, crime as it's been for the past many years at record levels. disproportionately impacts people of color. particularly black people in the black neighborhoods. i have had a lot of experience in the black community as a governor who got a lot of the votes there my time in prison for lies by the way with some of the black guys who really appreciated trump's honesty and authenticity. so, no, i think it's really important for him to come into the inner cities of those places where the democrats have ruined things. and the people that they say they are on the side of, well, here again, it's another lie. and the fact that they say they are on the side of black people? they just do just enough to so they can say something and in

the old days when the republican party was all about corporate country club republicans as opposed to the work clag class party trump has they can get away with saying that. trump has reached tout black community. he should door more on that. record on criminal justice reform meaningful. biden incarcerated all kind of first time drug offenders for long sentences creating what the michelle alexander called the real jim crow. he real opportunity in pittsburgh, detroit, pittsburgh, in cleveland, in atlanta and in places like chicago to highlight precisely what happens to the communities the democrats say they are for when the democrats are the ones who made it bad for the very people they say they are fighting for. >> laura: beautiful to see him in those environments. he is so great with people one-on-one. i mean, again, rallies are rallies and they are great. but that -- that personal touch with people, when he did it with the black p pastors no new york. i love those events. that's the way i am. i love seeing him at those events. rod, great to see you.

mid campaign had to go from zero to 100 miles per hour immediately. it took him a while to get his feet under him. is he clearly doing really well now. i would say one more thing. vance is able to give really good interviews in part because donald trump's position and records are so well-known and well established. tim walz cannot come out and give an interview now until kamala harris decides what her positions are. and then he can defend them. until then, we're not going to here from him much either. >> laura: he is going to have trouble not just because of that byron. have trouble because you can't drop a statement from your campaign on a friday night say i misspoke or misstated taking a weapon of war to the battlefield or the war, whatever he said. that was a mistake. so many of those types of statements and omissions by him that i don't think can he come out at all given the stolen honor questions about him. but, we haven't gotten much as you noted from kamala in terms

of policy but politico playbook reporting most democratic insiders they spoke to are totally fine. keeping things vague. there is a sense harris should wide the wave rather than offering up specifics. byron? >> it's the same as her policy on interviews and press conferences. which is she is not doing any of that now. and she is apparently doing great. if you look at the "time" magazine profile of her there is a sentence in there that said she refused to do an interview with them and they go doo a glowing cover story. >> laura: celebrate her. >> celebratory media conch all over the place. the polls have been very good for her. she is leading right now and averages of polls, nationally and in the swing states. >> laura: not all the swing states. let me tell you, byron, i'm not as impressed as you are by the polls and i will tell you why. >> okay. >> laura: most powerful -- nighttime discounting them all but i'm tempering it with a bit

you carried out a weapon of war into war? that's easy to do, right, senator? >> well, no, laura even the campaign admits it was much more than one instance of misspeaking and now it's not you, it's not me, or any other republican. it's tim walz is battalionor. even a chaplain in the battalion. you know, of course, we all respect tim walz for his service and for the service of all veterans. but, there have been multiple instances of inaccurate or inconsistent statements by tim walz or by the campaign and i think the american people deserve answers from tim walz. yet, like kamala harris. he refuses to come out and do an interview or even answer a few questions plane side as is he jetting around the country. apparently that's the mode of operating for this campaign. they think there are fewer than 100 days until the election and they can refuse to speak to the media and therefore speak to the american people about anything in their past or maybe more importantly what they have in store for america's future.
