bodies of six more more hostage are found in a the tunnel and gus including israel american hirsch goldberg paulin. making one of the strongest calls for prime minister benjamin netanyahu to resist cease-fire deal to bring the remaining captives home and mounting worker strikes for monday in an effort to pressure the government. welcome to "fox news" life i am rich edson. president spoken with the parents of goldberg has been one of the most vocal of the hostage. tray is live in israel. >> good afternoon after the military announced at six israeli hostages were killed by hamas inside of gaza demonstrations have erupted across this country calling for a cease-fire and hostage deal that would see the remaining hostages being held by hamas released. here in the city of tel aviv israel's second tel aviv israel's second-largest city there are thousands of people behind me better outside of the country's ministry of defense and they are calling on israeli

leadership including the country's prime minister benjamin netanyahu to cut a deal and bring the remaining hostages home. this has been a day of sorrow for the israeli people. six israeli hostages that were believed to be alive inside of gaza the military says they were killed in recent days as soldiers closed in on their position. one of them off course hirsch the american citizen just 23 years old and you saw his parents making their way around the world in recent weeks and months calling for his release even as recently as this week they went to the gaza border with loudspeakers yelling his name saying they were sorry he was still being held in gaza. the people here are mourning and they are in the streets of this country demanding that some sort of the deal be cut to get the remaining hostages to gaza to the israeli cabinet met today and they are going back are going back-and-forth about what the next steps will be in this situation. just last week there was an
10:03 am
explosion of tension between the country's prime minister andaman netanyahu and the defense ministry -- ministry described as a screaming match between the two leaders about what to do with the philadelphia -- the philadelphi corridor seen as a sticking point in the negotiations that are continuing this week at the working level. again the latest information that we have thousands of people are in the streets of this country and we are here one tel aviv speaking with those who are mourning the loss of the six israeli hostages that the military says were killed in hamas captivity. >> tray is live at the protest in another sad day in israel. president biden is buying that hamas will pay for their crimes after the discovery of an israeli american among the dead in a gaza tunnel. lucas tomlinson is live at the white house with more reaction from the biden/harris administration today.
10:04 am
>> white house officials say president biden spoke to hirsch's parents to offer condolences and jake sullivan plans to hold a meeting with some of the family to the american hostages who remain in gaza for nearly a year. president biden putting out a statement earlier which reads in part quote it is as tragic as it is reprehensible make no mistake, as leaders will pay for these crimes and we will work around-the-clock for a deal securing the release of the hostages. vice president kamala vice president kamala harris in a separate statement said hamas is an terrorist organization and these murderous hamas has more american blood on its hands but i strongly condemn hamas' continued brutality and so must the entire world. hersh's parents spoke at the convention and hersh part of his child -- tim kaine reacting to the news earlier on "fox news sunday." >> it's a real tragedy.
10:05 am
i met his parents and they have been tirelessly coming to the hill and talking about their son and talking about the need to find the hostage release deal so i can only imagine how painful this news is to them. i feel for them today and it emphasizes more behalf to get this this hostage released in cease-fire deal. the two halves come together. >> senator tom kotter reacting to the news earlier. >> it's sad news that hamas executed the six hostages in cold blood apparently shot them in the head shortly before they may have been rescued by israeli defense forces. my heart goes out to all the families especially hirsch goldberg-polin. virginia governor glenn yung ordered a half -- the flags flown at half-staff. lucas tomlinson thank you. for more on this coldspring in
10:06 am
vice president for foreign and security policy james kara bona. thanks for joining us. six hostages murdered how does this change the dynamic in the war in the negotiations to bring more hostages home? >> first of all we had this special place in our hearts for gold star families. we offer special and we give them special comfort and love. putting that aside it's really interesting taking hostages was part of the strategy. this is part of the october strategy to deliberately take hostages and the assumption is that was always the get out of jail free card for hamas and they knew they couldn't beat israel the battlefield at some point they would take pain and they would trade the hostages and live to fight another day. that strategy never seriously materialize and i talked to a senior israeli official for while ago in their best guess was they thought they could get
10:07 am
30 people out alive so i think the brutal reality here is this notion of hostages for a cease-fire thing that's gone. think about it for a second. the fact that they were going to liberate these guys and they shot them in the head how does that make sense for hamas standpoint. if they wanted to deal that let them take the hostages back and it would take pressure off of hamas. killing them puts the pressure on. >> up what should the next steps for the netanyahu administration be. he's now getting pushback from within his own cabinet from the opposition government within the israeli government so what is the path forward here? >> i don't think a cease-fire is something that is real. we keep talking about this but now hamas is negotiating you can't kill her leadership to get these bodies that but that's the level of what they are trying to trade for trade for in the arctic and willing to trade
10:08 am
hostages they want to. bodies. this is not going to end anything but the more damage that's done to destroy hamas the better off israel will be in the long run and that's the reality of it and everything which is super important is how we got here. the way forward to stopping it is -- the people want peace the middle east and they don't want hostages are disruption to deal with it. that's something senator lindsey graham has been calling for won sanctions for retaliation against iran's oil business with regard to this but the administration has been trying to prevent a wider conflict. how does the u.s. navigate that? >> again i'm not trying to be partisan. it sounds mean but it's not because of that to look at the three original sins that got us where we are. if you did one american hostages taken and murdered what would you have done? he would have never created the
10:09 am
conditions to begin with and so many people warned engaging in powering iran and flooding them with money was only going to worsen the situation and emboldened hamas. for the present to say he's a murderer but why did she get those murderers billions of dollars and essentially encourage and empower to unleash them on israel the first mistake was the whole idea of engagement the second mistake is when the war started we should have been all in for israel. we should have said the longer you keep us of the more you will suffer instead we equivocated and i think that's what made the strategy follow part between global the global intifada and the weakness of the american position is what encouraged hamas to keep fighting and that's what's in these hostages in and the third thing is once it was clear this war wasn't going to end in five minutes the u.s. should have taken personal responsibility for getting the hostages. that would have sent a powerful
10:10 am
message to hamas. i don't want to be but i think we started with the strategy that was willing to abandon the american hostages to die and we shouldn't be surprised. i know it sounds really mean but that's exactly what we got. that was the strategy. the administration would say boots on the ground american boots on the ground is dangerous when it comes to war that's ongoing in gaza. there has been criticism among democrats there hasn't been enough protections in. >> again somebody said it didn't interview and they said what about the bombing in gaza and i said you don't want to prevent it there would have been one bombing gaza and that was october 7 so the question is what got us to october 7 next on new there are no do-overs in history with the reality is it's engaging and empowering iran and encouraging hamas is what got us to october 7 and there is a
10:11 am
lesson in history and the way forward because gaza being destroyed is not going back. hamas is and we are going back on that. israel will defend its territory. iran attacks israel they may lose their government and the country may collapse. the one lesson we have learned here is engaging and empowering iran only leads to murder and in the region and if we do anything we had to change a policy. we have had flip-flops and changing things moderating things we haven't heard one word from biden/harris acknowledging the policy is a complete failure and we have two duo 180. >> thanks for joining us. >> thanks for having me. this is unprecedented in 1982 after the massacres in at 11 president reagan -- an unequivocal in the unwavering in
10:12 am
my commitment to israel's defense and its ability to defend itself and that's not going to change. >> we should note these hostages were discovered in the tunnels under rafah. joe biden kamala harris put pressure on israel not to enter for months using arms embargoes to keep them from entering. >> democratic congressman from michigan debby dingell joins us this afternoon. thanks for joining us now. i want to start in there so much to talk about what with the election in michigan and what we heard on what's ongoing. you have this sense from republicans there needs to be more pressure on iran and for democrats there need to be more pressure on the netanyahu administration israel. what is the path forward? >> we need a cease-fire. i want to be an equivocal -- what happened this weekend i
10:13 am
don't have the facts and i'm getting them in the media like you are that they were shot and killed within the last 48 hours which is a sheer murder unforgivable and it's just but i also know thousands have died in gaza and their country has been destroyed. we need a cease-fire and all of the players had to negotiate in good faith on either side. we need a cease-fire. we need peace in the mideast and i'm glad to see the citizens standing up and saying to their leadership bring them home, bring the hostages home. people do not realize we have seen war like we haven't seen in decades of scares me to death. everyone has the bee willing to work together. the president tells me
10:14 am
personally he is working hard to get there. i know the vice president has made it clear and i know it's up for discussion but what i am by these deaths of these hostages and i just hope we see some real movement this week but everybody tells us we are almost there. get there, we need to get there. >> domestically so much of this issue is played out in your state in michigan. 13% of democratic voters during the primary voted uncommitted as a protest against what the biden administration not supporting israel but do you think of the blue wall states that vice president harris hasn't become president of united states in michigan is the most challenging environment for her? >> i think it's a very challenging environment for everyone. what i'm worried about is what we see out here. this weekend has been a very disturbing weekend and arguably
10:15 am
i will say this and i think people on both sides will agree with me. we might disagree about who is paying these forces we saw hate posters showing up on land throughout ann arbor saying that a dead zionist day keeps -- last night the group went to. the community is feeling threatened and they don't feel safe. we had to do something about this. arguably people outside forces are against each other and we have all got to work together. that's what i'm doing with both sides of the aisle the next days working with law enforcement.

several key races will determine the balance of power in the senate this november. democrats want to hold onto their narrow majority. our next guest is hoping to win one of those few open seats republican senate candidate in michigan mike rodgers. he reached out to democratic representative's campaign. congressman rodgers the chairman of the intelligence committee. that has a lot to do with what's going on right now especially in your race. foreign-policy has really been especially in michigan a major, major issue. what should the administration be doing now and after the news we have heard at six more hostages have been murdered in gaza? >> the first thing they need to do is to begin a very harsh containment policy on iran. but you know without containing iran you stop that cash flow that's going into hamas and going into hezbollah.
10:31 am
it's a bit of a clue that the leader of hamas was killed in tehran. they are up to this to their eyeballs in causing most of the problems that they need to start there and do two things at once. then you have got to allow israel to finish up eliminating and degrading as many hamas terrorists as possible. and we have got to make sure that happens so that they don't have the legs to do another event. they do those couple of things, they need to get the saudi's back into the game with the houthis. the houthis have been causing us all kinds of problems since the biden administration took them off the terrorist list. saudi has not been able to go after the houthis even though they were attacking saudi arabia because the biden administration decided they shouldn't have weapons systems so you have this cauldron across the middle east happening because of really bad decisions from the democrats in
10:32 am
washington and certainly the biden/harris administration did the democratic presence or primary when president biden was on the top of the ticket 13% of democratic voters in michigan voted uncommitted largely seen as a way of saying the administration is too pro-israel essentially an not holding to account for civilian civilian deaths but there's a significant arab-american and population in the state of michigan. what should an administration do to protect civilian lives and what would you do for your constituents if you are to become senator? >> i have met with leaders and around dearborn and this is an important part of our population and they are important to the fabric of michigan. i will tell you there is a way forward here. they aren't happy with the debra cretz for sure and i will tell you why. the democrats told them one thing i will be with you 1% and
10:33 am
one often did something else. that's what they are mad about here so they know someone like me i'm very honest with them and i tell you what might position is and say how do we get this put back together once hamas is eliminated or at least degraded to the point where it's manageable. we can get the palestinian people back on their feet. i think we are obligated to help them do that and that's where we are merging relationships with the 700,000 in the suburbs around dearborn. i think that's the path that we are talking about and that's the path we need to take and getting them engaged in the solution after this is over is really important. again this is caused by iran. think of this is she an nation giving money weapons and training to his sunny terrorist organization for the sole purpose of chaos and killings. so we need to stop that and i think everybody and her stands
10:34 am
that kind of proxy fighting that iran's backing needs to come to an end and i think we will agree on a very tight around iran that will allow this all to stop and allow us to start helping the palestinian people rebuild their lives and that's where we can make a difference. it's several hundred thousand voters here that are upset with democrats including my opponent. >> part of the way the democrats pushed president biden off the top of the ticket was to argue that his candidacy was hurting them down ballot. you think it's more difficult or easier to be running with vice president harris at the top of the ticket? >> i think harris getting on the ticket by appointment certainly has an agenda of certain aspects of intensity across the democratic side but at the end of the day we have these big problems if people can't afford groceries at the end of the month and people are planning the last two, three and four

to talk about the inside baseball negotiations that happen behind the stage at the debates. the big thing is this debate looks like it said that happen. whatever rules are shaping up to be the term team is bringing tulsi gabbard in. she has been honored debate stage in trying to look at this and different way and how they will approach it but at the end of the day they have the policy positions to contrast with ann, is going to be culpable for the failures of the biden/harris administration. there's an audience or not we will continue to play the political games and that will happen behind the scenes. the debate about the policy positions that america needs to make for the change election that's the case but donald trump needs to make. jim harris rollout has been extremely cautious and she's done one interview. what are the pitfalls for her? >> you say it's been cautious that this race with went from donald trump dominating the race
10:38 am
to where she's ahead. whatever she's doing is working well. we have reached out to this campaign the part where the candidates will mix it up and this is good for her. i think she'd like to have open microphones in a raucous debate for this debate was set up by two elderly people to debate each other so we'll get the blue plate special version. she wants a young robust version. i would have picked tulsi gabbard to be the person to prep for trump but that's a choice. trump has more pressure on him this debate because he has lost momentum. it's must-see tv in my think he's made lot of mistakes recently. we will see. >> errand we have post-debate polling from abc showing vice president harris doesn't get a convention bout and neither did former president trump. she's widened her lead among

women voters but is there a risk that we are essentially saying the harris high watermark, she's out she's got the excitement and it's only land landmines from here? >> what we are saying an uptick in enthusiasm for democratic voters would bring home those who were going to sit on the sidelines of joe biden. now when you talk about persuadable voters and this is where the landline does exist for kamala harris not only in the debate but when she does interviews. i completely have agreed this thread is working for democrats and keeping her on the sidelines and avenues. she is on this debate stage and when we look at where voters are she's going to have a hard time and now we are talking persuadables who do we have sitting on the margins that maybe votes went to every three or four years and how are you going to explain to them women voters aren't the largest voting bloc and they are tough to dissuade but harder to get to
10:40 am
support a woman bent to support a man. >> you add in the aspect of the 2019-2020 version of priya vice president senator kamala harris when she was running for the nomination but she was further to the left than she is now. how do she convince people on january 21 she doesn't revert to 2019/2020 kamala harris? >> she has the last four years in which the biden/harris administration has in the last year lock-down the border done a lot of trim and certainly if you look at fracking in pennsylvania 2021, 22 and 23 the biggest years in pennsylvania for natural gas production in pennsylvania's history. i think she's going to lean into that and i think in terms of the race donald trump has a problem. he's run nationally twice already and he's never exceeded 47% of the vote.
10:41 am
the third-party candidates are dropping out. i think the problem for donald trump is without third-party candidates like rfk if he's at 47% and she's at 51, she wins the race. he needs to change the dynamics here. >> very quickly want to put up the polling we have gotten from sunbelt states carrot is up 50- 49 eras zone at georgia nevada. these are states that had senate races in 2022 other than north carolina democrats came out on top of their narrative was thanks to roe v. wade being overturned they did better than expected in the midterms. do you expect that to hold in 2020? >> at the different voting bloc when you look at them on your presidential year versus the midterm cycle. they may not be the same voter that you'll need this time however this has been a spot for

republicans when it comes to talking about being pro-life and where we stand. on any race anywhere in the country every republican should heed this warning take a position. go to your state and use it as your benchmark and say i agreed with it. donald trump came out previously against the six-week legislation in florida. he was on that in the primary and thought that was too far. he needs to figure out what is going to do on the ballot measure of how he's going to message that to the country. don't be afraid because being polite is the cornerstone for a lot of republicans. you had to stand with their convictions. >> thanks for joining us on a holiday weekend. very much appreciate it. >> thank you. california's controversial bill that would provide financial aid for illegal immigrants to buy homes appears to have new support from a high-profile democrat. bret jacobs is live with more.
