were organized as to make sure that they wanted to flood new york city for gaza. but the white house is saying these protests were inappropriate, to say least. given the latest news out of the middle east. the crowds we saw in new york were estimated to be quite big between 5,000 and 7,000 people. spotted all throughout manhattan, including union square and fifth avenue. there are reports some protesters were told to cover their face to avoid surveillance. even take steps to avoid being tracked. at one point we did see some smoke bombs go off. over the holiday weekend, the white house weighed in writing: it is especially heinous to express support for hamas on this same day as the funeral for an innocent american hostage who they brutally murdered. this is a moment for all americans to come together and stand against anti-semitism and against the sickening hate and evil that hamas represents. on monday the president also meth with national security team. the meeting coming amid continuing efforts u.s., qatar and egypt to negotiate the release of all the remaining hostages. the president also told reporters if the israeli prime

minister in his view should be doing more to end this crisis. >> mr. president, do you think it's time for prime minister netanyahu to do more on this issue? do you think is he doing enough? >> no. >> the president also said last night that he would eventually speak with the israeli prime minister. the white house also putting out a statement on behalf of the president saying he was both devastated and outraged to learn about that 23-year-old american among those executed last week. steven, brian, ainsley and lawrence back to you. >> steve: i have a question for you. white house, particularly now the harris campaign, does not want to see these protests spread back to campus because that is a message that is not helpful to her campaign. but, they know it's going to happen. so, what are they going to do about it? >> you are right. it's going to bring the issue front and center. steve, if we see any of those protests like we saw at the end of the school year back in may and june. those images out of columbia. no one is going to forget any time soon.

and desperately. i'm sorry. >> once again, hamas tried pressure israel during this time by releasing a new video showing the hostages alive. after the execution of these six israeli captives, there are new questions about how the war will end. israel's prime minister benjamin netanyahu spoke overnight at a press conference. he made clear he is not willing to compromise on the issue of the philadelphia corridor, a strip of land between gaza and egypt. where israeli troops are currently deployed. there were also protests outside netanyahu's house in jerusalem. as demonstrators here in israel demand a deal to release the remaining hostages from gaza. now, overnight, i received a long statement from a senior hamas official who blamed israel and the united states for the execution of these hostages. of course, that official provided no evidence to support the claim. but it gives you a sense of where the organization stands right now on the possibility of negotiations. they are blaming israel and the americans for the deaths of the hostages that they killed roo

you just showed earlier in the show. i think two things should be pointed out here as someone who has reported on the ground in the middle east for the past six years. these demonstrators have no idea what they are talking about. some of them are carrying the flag of saudi arabia. not the flag of hamas. when there's a sword at the bottom, that indicates it's a flag of saudi arabia from the house of sawed. is aud.you hear calls attacks at jewish citizens in the united states. it's shocking. when you see the name of what this demonstration was. i saw it just yesterday on instagram the flier for that demonstration in the streets of new york. it was called flood new york. now, we should note, the octobek saturday, the military wing of hamas called it the alocks is a flood. and they wanted to make a comparison here about what was taking place in the streets of new york and what took place on the morning of october 7th when fighters came from the gaza

strip and slawtedders civilians in their homes in southern israel. remarkable to see how many people are dressed in the streets. people dressed as the spokesman of the wing of hamas. man i interviewed before. while these people are playing dress up in the streets of new york. we are reporting on the ground about the reality of the situation. the reality is that no one wins in this conflict. there is a lack of empathy there and sad to see in the streets of united states. >> brian: so uneducated. don't you think, trey -- and i know you got to go. don't you think it's worthy of a justice department investigation on the financing and the organizations behind these protests? >> yeah, if you see any of the fliers for that demonstration that took place in new york. there are dozens of logos underneath them. and all of those organizations are funded. they receive money and support from people in the united states and around the world. it's worth looking, into again, this is not about opinion or

taking a stance. this is about the reality of what is taking place. and the american people deserve to understand what's happening, who is funding it, and as part of our work as journalists to investigate. >> ainsley: trey a lot of people that you talk to that are from israel and also americans and they live here, they will say that they are now -- they used to be democrats and now they are voting for donald trump because of this single issue. what are you hearing on the ground there? >> people here in israel are watching the american elections closely. understanding that the outcome in november will directly effect their country. but they are also listening to the rhetoric that's taking place in the united states. it's critical. something we have talked about on air a lot, right? can you call for the protection of civilians in gaza amid this war. that is important. and a reasonable thing to do and something that we have tried to pressure the israeli military and government on about the strikes that are taking place in gaza. but there are people who are calling for the protection of civilians but are not mourning

or discussing the hostages executed by hamas in gaza. the rhetoric in the united states is certainly being watched here in the middle east there. is a directed connection to what is taking place in november. and the israelis understand that the war is not just focused on gaza. they are taking daily rocket and drone attacks from hezbollah in southern lebanon. they are fighting the houthis in yemen and of course ongoing threat from the islamic republic. the iranian regime in tehran. >> brian: seven fronts. >> lawrence: hoping people are listening to trey. someone embedded with hamas one point try to understand. talk with senior officials. talk with one of the first american reporters on the scene there for him to talk about what is happening in america versus what is hang within the organization. i think people should listen to your words, trey. thank you so much. >> ainsley: trey was there every day. he was there on october 7th and been working almost every day since and saw the body cam video of hamas going into these can i

the border crisis hit home in the midwest this weekend. let's start there previously deported illegal immigrant from honduras was arrested sunday following intense manhunt in indiana after he was deemed a person of interest. here he is you see him. deem must gabriel, 26 years old old. lake county sheriff's office says the manhunt began saturday after a 14-year-old girl was stabbed in the hand with a butcher style knife while at her brother's baseball game. when the girl's mother tried to help. the migrant also tried to stab her before fleeing. the teen girl is okay. was treated and released from a hospital. yanes was apprehended sunday after cops spotted him running through a cornfield. investigators say he was in the process of trying to cut her his to change appearance and evade law enforcement. he had been previously deported in 2018 and, quote, may have been engaged in criminal activity across the united states since returning illegally. meanwhile, as you mentioned, ainsley, in new york, police

sergeant jeff joins us now. good morning to you. >> good morning, ainsley, how are you today? >> ainsley: why the change? because you saw the problem get worse after it was decriminalized in 2020? >> you know the recriminallization was the first step of many that needed to happen. it's because you saw overdose deaths. you saw drug usage on the street, crime, homelessness all soared after democrats put this policy in place. they could have stopped it but they didn't. used to seeing this all the time as a sergeant. and on the street it was never like this before. >> ainsley: jeff, when you look at the numbers they are staggering. after the law was passed in 2020, we saw an increase. in march of that year, 2021, of 104%. then the next year an increase of another 51%. then the increase last year in 2023 it was an additional almost 24%. so, and we don't have the numbers, obviously, for the rest of this year. but, obviously these liberal laws are failing the citizens.

more families are missing someone during the holidays. someone around their dinner table is not there because of drug use. >> absolutely. and, unfortunately, because we decriminalized it for those few years, you have created -- we have lost a generation, i believe, of people because of these drugs, and you don't get to have those times anymore. and people can't even go into public and tactical their kids to the park because they are dealing with the deaths, they are dealing with drug use. dealing with all those bad things that are happening. this is just horrible policies and it's unfortunate that you have these mega donors around the nation that use oregon as a petri dish, an experiment to try to create this world of utopia and you can't do it. we need more republicans in charge to fix this problem. >> ainsley: the voters pass it in 2020, 58%. now if you are caught with fentanyl, heroin or meth small amounts charged with possession or opt into this treatment program. what are those programs like? is it like did you go in a room and watch a video, slap on the
