trey, hello to you. >> bill, good morning. the psychological warfare of hamas continues and overnight the group released a statement from its top military spokesman saying that hamas was given new instructions about what to do if israeli force eaves approach. they instructed their militants in the field that more hostages would be killed if the idf tries to rescue them. that statement came after a funeral was held for american citizen hersh goldberg-polin in jerusalem. thousands lined the streets to pay respects as his parents eulogized their son. >> sweet boy, go now on your journey. i hope it is as good as the trips you dreamed about because finally, my sweet, boy, finally finally, finally you are free. >> for 330 days mom and i sought the stone that we could turn over to save you.

maybe, just maybe, your death is the stone, the fuel that will bring home the remaining 101 hostages. >> once again hamas tried to pressure israel during this time by releasing a new video showing the hostages alive. after the execution of these six israeli hostages new questions how the war will end. israel's prime minister netanyahu spoke at a press conference last night and not willing to compromise on the issue of a strip of land between gaza and egypt where israeli troops are currently di employed and protests outside of the prime minister's home in jerusalem as people here demand a deal to bring the remaining hostages home. overnight i received a long statement from a senior hamas official blaming israel and the united states for the execution of these hostages. of course, there was no evidence provided but gives you a little bit about the mindset of this organization. blaming israel and america

they really are learning how to operate inside those tunnels and been increasingly rescuing hostages. talk of a hostage deals. one of those two paths seemed viable and then suddenly this. i just -- every death is heartbreaking but when you know the families, it is especially so. >> bill: here is the issue. for many who are protesting netanyahu in israel, hamas started the war. hamas took them captive. hamas kidnapped them, hamas executed them in the back of the head including bullets through the heart and somehow it's israel's problem. here is netanyahu addressing a lot of these negotiations. >> israel agreed to the lines that biden offered and hamas refused it. blinken said israel agreed to the american offer, now hamas has to do so.

that was five days ago. what happened these five days? one thing happened. they murdered six of our -- in cold blood six of our hostages. >> bill: what's the expectation from the white house? it seems like the line continues to move on now they are trying to play indicate democrats on the far left. >> as the prime minister said, since april 27th there have been five times where the u.s. government, administration has said, whether in the president's own voice or the voice of blinken or the voice of the deputy director of the c.i.a. israel has agreed to the proposal. we're now waiting on hamas. hamas rejects the proposal. each time israel agrees and hamas rejects israel is put in the position do more, do more, do more especially after six israelis are slaughtered do more, do more, do more. what is israel supposed to do without compromising the possibility there is another

nominee, vice president harris made a series of statement very critical from israel saying they cannot go into rafah. adamant that israel can't go into rafah. she saw the maps. israel can't go into rafah. what we learned there were a lot of american and israeli hostages in rafah underground. the leadership of hamas is in rafah. the idea that harris is saying -- dictating that israel can't go into rafah is very disconcerting. when her vice presidential nominee doesn't want to talk about it. >> dana: has the biden administration taken a position on who controls the philadelphia corridor >> they have said israel had agreed to their proposal. bridging proposal which kept israel to some degree in the philadelphia corridor. biden administration would like israel to get out of there to their view it would lubricate

where jewish students going to school in new york city have to worry about being able to get to class without being harassed. and yet -- and yet we don't have a kind of hate crime enforcement you would get in any other context. as i've been saying on the air where is d.o.j.? there are commoninalities in the funding and organization and we'll have this, i believe, could be the october surprise because it is not just going to be columbia. according to the reporting columbia doesn't want nypd on its campus. who will handle this? >> dana: the columbia university is new, the old one resigned and new one under the microscope. a student last week was here. student body president saying what she wants, call for number two. >> the university needs to put an end to harassment of students right now. if the university really wants to protect freedom of speech it is important to remember it can

only occur if everybody is safe enough to speak. dialogue is the only way to combat misinformation and we need opportunities to hear from other speakers. >> dana: you also have the fact they are supposed to be learning math and english. studying the humanities or art class and they don't get a chance. >> this is supposed to be a real renowned research institution. you don't have that if you don't have freedom of movement. this is not dialogue and free speech and smoke bombs, vandalism and assaults and basic civil rights violations. i talked to one of my friends who went to columbia, who loved going there. i said would you go there now and she said absolutely not. not only has this dei met asty sized into full blown anti-semitism but for four years it is about $550,000 all in.

"wall street journal" had a very interesting write-up over the weekend. we've been talking about georgia as trump's firewall, talking about pennsylvania as kamala harris's firewall. that's what the journal did. i will put it into action. the race is to 217, we have trump at 219, kamala harris 225. we're considering new hampshire and minnesota and virginia is not in play. here is what we're seeing. if trump defends georgia, 235, if trump were to hold north carolina, as he did in 2020, 251. he would only need pennsylvania to get to 270. i will take these three states off and show you what she is up against in the harris campaign. if she were to defend pennsylvania, if she were to sneak in an take georgia she would only need one of the five other states remaining, okay? nevada would not do it. north carolina would. michigan would, see how that

changes? wisconsin would at 270. arizona would. so you see why there is so much spending now in places like pennsylvania and georgia. come on in, dana and karl rove and talk about this. what do you want to add to that, karl? let's begin. >> i want to step back for a minute. you touched on this. is start of it is in the seven battleground states there are 93 electoral college votes. donald trump if you take the states that he won last time around that are not battlegrounds he has 219. if you take the states that were won last time by joe biden that are not battleground states and award them to harris it is 223 is what she would start with. trump needs 51 electoral college votes and harris 44 in order to get to the 270 magic number. you are right. there are a large number of combinations you can use to get there. one part we didn't talk about is two states maine and nebraska switched -- divide their

electoral college vote by congressional district. in order to win the democrats think they have to take the nebraska -- omaha seat and republicans think if will win they need to take the upper 2/three of maine the second congressional district. far more conservative than the first district in the south and southeast part of the state. >> dana: talk to us about this balancing act. harris puts her biden balancing act on display in pennsylvania. she also counting on joe to help her win the election. how do you manage that? >> i think the article was a little off. if i were the harris campaign i would say we have to get him out there so his feelings aren't hurt. he can maybe help us in pennsylvania where he grew up. let's get it done and out of the way and say we've done it. they wanted to get it done on

and what's interesting is mark halperin puts the most likely harris states, michigan, wisconsin, georgia are one, two, three, arizona, nevada, interestingly pennsylvania down here. if donald trump can take north carolina and pennsylvania these are the two, you know, two of the three biggest states, 19 electoral votes, 16 electoral votes, 16 in georgia as well. but it takes those that's a good start toward getting to 270 even with 51 votes he needs to pick up. she needs 44. if he takes these two big states look, if he wins georgia it is over. this election could come down to who wins pennsylvania and georgia. >> dana: nine weeks from today we'll be having the election. >> bill: paris hilton is doing something today. >> dana: i like that move.
