8:00 pm
>> out of time, thank you fox studio audience. >> trace: good evening, i'm trace gallagher. 11:00 pm on the east coast, 8:00 in los
8:01 pm
angeles and this is america's late news, "fox news @ night". i cannot provide content that promotes a specific political party or specific candidate. while there are many reasons to vote for kamala harris, the most significant may be that she is a woman of color who has overcome numerous obstacles to become a leader in her field. >> trace: breaking tonight, alexa, why does big tech bias always lean in the same direction? just days after mark zuckerberg admitted to censoring americans during the 2020 election, fox news now finding that amazon's alexa would not weigh in on voting for donald trump, but was happy to weigh in on voting for kamala harris. and there's this... >> i heard a rumor that you worked at mcdonald's. is that true? >> i did, yes, i did. >> she was the daughter of a working mom and she worked at mcdonald's while she got her degree. kamala harris knows what it's like to be middle-class. >> trace: kamala harris still trying to connect with working-class voters but it's
8:02 pm
looking more likely that she lied about working at mcdonald's why do you think that is? is it a big deal that she lied or small fries? meantime, the harris walls mac still ducking the media. critics say harris went so far as to fake a phone call. but we begin with president biden pointing fingers at benjamin netanyahu, not hamas, for the execution of 6 israeli hostages. and protesters appear more emboldened than ever as anti-israel demonstrators are back at columbia on day 1 of classes. ashley strohmier live with more on the chaotic start to the school year. >> reporter: even after the chaos we saw last spring which saw many demonstrators arrested, protests grew quickly on the first day of the new semester at columbia university and some jewish student say last month's resignation of a school's president isn't making them feel any safer. >> we've been getting e-mails nonstop about how the school has
8:03 pm
made a commitment to mending fences but as you can see here, that's not happening. >> i'm a visible jew, i'm orthodox, i wear a star of david around my neck. i know that's putting a target on my back and coming to terms with that reality is quite frightening. but i know i can't stand down. >> reporter: take a look at some of the scenes from columbia's campus where the schools on a major statue was left covered in red paint. we know at least 2 of the protesters were arrested and taken into custody by nypd. demonstrations over the holiday weekend so roughly 5000 take to the streets of the big apple. even more flooding the streets on monday, lighting players and setting off smoke bombs and demonstrators we have spoken with say not only do they not have any plans to back down, but to expect even more marches. back at columbia, we are learning the extent of antisemitic incidents on campus with a new report from the university's anti-semitism task
8:04 pm
force revealing some chalk findings that include jewish students being chased out of their dorms, spat on and even pinned up against walls. >> trace: we will talk about that. ashley strohmier live in new york, thank you. let's bring in rabbi chaim mentz christina, former democratic candidate for u.s. senate in california and a previous brigadier general and israeli defense forces. general, the wall street journal had the following by the editorial board, "hamas murders 6 hostages, israel is blamed." it goes on to read, hamas probably can't believe it's lock or the lack of moral seriousness by it's enemies. the terrorists murders six israeli hostages including one dual citizen american and israel is suddenly under pressure to make concessions to hamas. why is the first reaction from this country, general, to blame the israeli government?
8:05 pm
>> i think it's terrible. we are dealing with an evil organization that executed six citizens and israel must defend itself. we are fighting an existential threat on several fronts and we need administration to stand firmly with israel, not to point the blame towards israel but towards hamas. hamas is killing our citizens, holding hostages. and massacred 1200 people in one day, burnt people alive, raped women, decapitated children. israel must eradicate this organization and we expect the administration to fully supported us in every way. >> trace: yeah. so far that hasn't quite happened but i know that people are pulling for exactly that. our old friend, a columbia student back at school of course now, she has been on the show, she said this today on fox and friends...
8:06 pm
>> these protesters, especially on campus is like mine, have been so empowered in their support for this terrorist organization that you literally have leaders of hamas and the islamic republic issuing statements of gratitude for them and for their protesting. i mean it's appalling and frankly very frightening. >> trace: appalling and frightening and yet it's reality >> big time reality. people aren't realizing. i'm asking america to wake up and smell the coffee. we always said how did it happen in germany, all over europe the people started hating jewish people, how did it happen? it's because everybody stood back and said we don't understand it. but it's happening like this, like this, like this, from college campus to college campus. jews are being run out of everything. but wake up and smell the coffee, germany came and destroyed your entire continent. look what's going on right now in europe. look what's happening there. they are ready -- took over london, are taking over france. what's happening in germany is now happening in america and i
8:07 pm
have to say, i love my country but when we allow these people to march wild through college campuses without any -- without anybody stopping them, it will be bad for america. >> trace: talk about unbelievable christina, this is in new york city anti-israel protester. watch this. >> an american was executed yesterday by terrorists. he deserved it? >> sure. >> wise that great. >> what business does he have. >> what business did he have great music festival dancing with his friends? >> israel killed him, not hamas. >> trace: it's difficult to reason with that kind of hate. >> that is the queen tenses of ignorance. he was at peace advocate who went to a music festival. there is absolutely nothing deserving of what he got and i would urge that person to sit down with the parents, they
8:08 pm
moved millions of people around the world. to be that heartless and that out of touch with reality, i'm extremely worried for the future of our country when i see that. >> trace: you have bought into the narrative, hook line and sinker, you've bought into somebody's able narrative and somebody needs to have a sitdown conversation with that man because he has no idea what he's talking about. general, what do you think of the u.s. department of justice charging hamas leaders over the terrorist atrocities on october 7th? is it helpful, you think it moves the needle at all on this? >> well i think it's important. it's important to recognize that it's a terror organization, important internationally to prosecute this terrorist. israel is searching everywhere for the hamas leader and they will all pay for what they did. hamas cannot continue controlling the gaza strip, controlling the palestinian society and inciting and making
8:09 pm
a whole society hateful towards israel and towards the jewish people. they have a lot to work to do and we are thankful for the movement. >> trace: there is a lot of work to do. the new republic says the campus protests over gaza are all part of a good education. it goes on to say without being exposed to right -- diversity and disagreement, college students will learn how to think for themselves. nothing like good old-fashioned debate about eradicating one race. >> that is exactly what they want. stop thinking. i do the thinking for you. i made you into a drone of hate. imagine, if on october 8th president biden and vice president harris went and sat straight up, this is hamas, they are the cancer, they must be destroyed, their way of thinking cannot be tolerated anywhere in america, then nowhere what you have had this on campus or on the streets. we allowed the cancer to fester and we are going to start
8:10 pm
reaping what we've sewn unfortunately. >> trace: april israel protester talking with alexis mcadams today at columbia. >> how all this is being handled by president biden and kamala harris, will it change how you vote? >> i wasn't previously a political person but now i'm a single policy voter. israel through and through. 's and kamala the one who said she sympathizes with the human emotion of the protesters. what are you sympathizing with, terrorism? >> trace: we talk to jewish people all the time and a lot of them have moved center or further to the right. >> i think americans are looking for a voice of reason. somebody who can make sense of the warped reality in which we find ourselves. when you see all of these hostages who were brutally murdered and executed and then you have people marching, pro hamas protesters taking to the streets, celebrating the death of an american. since one was it okay to do that? and so i think it's good that the biden harris administration
8:11 pm
came out and called this heinous act those pro hamas protesters and what they were doing and marching, a day after the bodies of the hostages were discovered, but i think there needs to be a swift, decisive, repeated, consistent message that this is not okay and this inhumanity we are exerting is un-american frankly. >> trace: and we are normalizing it and that's the saddest part about it. thank you all. meantime president biden criticized again for appearing to be tougher on benjamin netanyahu than hamas terrorists after saying israel's prime minister is the one not doing enough to secure a hostage deal. bill melugin is live with more on the white house back-and-forth. >> reporter: good evening, most people out there were horrified when they saw the headlines this week, that hamas had executed six hostages including an american citizen. but president biden is now pointing the finger at israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu, saying he's just not doing enough to secure a cease-fire deal with hamas. >> mister president, you think
8:12 pm
it's time for prime minister netanyahu to do more on this issue, you think he's doing enough? >> no. >> reporter: today our colleague pressed karine jean-pierre on this. >> and the presidents public comments, why is he harder on benjamin netanyahu than he is on the terrorist leader of hamas? >> the president has been very clear about hamas leaders and what they have done. he was asked a question, he answered it directly. but hamas is responsible. they have more american blood on their hands. >> reporter: as fox as reported, the israeli military recover the bodies of six hamas hostages over the weekend and determine today had been executed. 48-72 hours beforehand. one of those hostages was an israeli american. >> tragically in a deal to bring home the hostages, it will come too late for him, but there are dozens of hostages remaining in gaza waiting for a deal that will bring them home.
8:13 pm
it is time to finalize that deal. >> reporter: in the meantime hamas continues to post propaganda videos designed to add pressure to the negotiations. they've been showing video of more hostages they have in their custody with a graphic on the video that says "time is running out." >> trace: thank you. meantime just days away from the first ballots being sent to voters in north carolina with early voting in many states set to begin soon. in fact some voters may cast their ballots before the candidates get to the debate stage. senior national correspondent kevin corke is live in dc with what new polls are showing as the race enters a critical stage. >> reporter: evening, trace. this is one of if not the most underreported aspects of the 2024 race in my opinion. we are talking about just how well the presidential candidates might perform with hispanic and latino voters. it could make a big difference, especially in the swing states come this november. despite fawning media coverage
8:14 pm
so far for the vp, it's the former president, trump, is not only outperforming his 2020 numbers with latinos but strongly preferred among hispanic voters when it comes to immigration policy. that's just one data point from the latest reuters survey which shows that hispanic voters prefer mister trump over miss harris when it comes to immigration. among the broader electorate, mister trump leads 46-36 on immigration policy. on the economy, while mister trump leads harris among registered voters, 45-36, the two remain tied with hispanic voters. thirty-nine% each. this as the latest group survey puts the former president ahead of the vp in pennsylvania, north carolina, arizona, wisconsin and nevada with the candidates tied right now in michigan and georgia. meantime mister trump will take
8:15 pm
part in a fox news town hall on wednesday in battleground pennsylvania. on friday he will speak at the fraternal order of police's fall meeting in north carolina and then on saturday he will be holding a big rally in the state of wisconsin -- wisconsin. in case you hadn't read this already, current fox polling suggests harris as the lead with hispanics overall, around 13%, which means in reality it's probably much closer than that. >> trace: always is. kevin corke live in dc, thank you. let's bring in rnc national spokeswoman elizabeth pipko and princeton university political scientist lauren wright. welcome to you both. here's kamala harris addressing crowds in both detroit and pittsburgh, but doing it same speech and two different accents. watch. >> yep bad thank a union member for paid leave, you better thank a union member for vacation time.
8:16 pm
thank unions for sick leave, thank unions for paid family leave. thank unions for vacation time. >> trace: the white house was asked about this today and they said this is not an important question, nothing to do with it, but a lot of people asked because they thought it's unusual. >> it is unusual. the good thing is it's not up to the white house. this election is up to the american people who i guarantee you are confused when politicians come out with kamala harris and flip-flop on their policy proposals every day. they are going to be confused when politicians like kamala harris go out and flip flop on how they speak to the american people. the american people are not stupid, they have their eyes and ears open and this is what matters to them, authenticity. that's what trump brought to the race in 2016. that's what i believe the american people are looking for, both in personality and policy and that's why it's important that this is not up to the white house but the american people. >> trace: meantime on x kamala harris said this about her job at mcdonald's.
8:17 pm
watch. >> i worked at mcdonald's. i was a student when i was working at mcdonald's. if we want to talk about these golden arches being a symbol of the best of america, while the arches are falling short. and we have got to recognize that working people deserve livable wages. >> trace: the fact checkers going crazy but a lot have said there is little to no evidence that kamala harris actually worked at a mcdonald's. >> i don't know the answer to that. i mean maybe she did, maybe she didn't. she is from a background of a lot of educational privilege, her father was a professor, her mom was a leading cancer researcher, and so yes, there will be questions about how the campaign is framing her middle-class upbringing. but her parents were extraordinarily successful, had a lot of jobs, a lot of people
8:18 pm
would have wanted. if it turns out she is longing, that's a disaster for her. i can't imagine she would have such a bald-faced lie be right out there in every campaign ad, that would be very bad strategy. i hope it does not turn out to be true. >> trace: meantime the polls kevin was talking about, hispanic voters give trump the advantage over democratic presidential candidate regarding immigration policy. although overall, hispanics still have a lead over the former president. but it is narrowing, which is surprising a lot of pollsters. >> it is. like i just said, donald trump was authentic, he brought something new to politics in 2016. not just the republican party but to politics in general. we now look for something else from our politicians and that means the american people get to get a different look at politics. it's different from what they've seen over and over again. that means the democrat party has to have a new strategy because the dynamic has changed. for many years they relied on
8:19 pm
the jewish boat, female vote, hispanic vote, black vote and so many others. it's generally great that both parties at all candidates have to fight every four years to earn the votes of the american people because relying on them is not the american way. >> trace: meantime abc episodes, this is post convention and it shows kamala harris it appears did not get much of a convention bump. you see 49-45 before, 50-46 after so really no bump at all. are you surprised? >> not really. i mean if there are bumps, they are short-lived and they are very small in magnitude and that is just the tradition of national elections in this country. i think either side has to be extremely circumspect right now. they can't make any assumptions. trump, i've said from the beginning, has the advantage on the issues. if he can stick with the issues. so it's really himself that's to blame if he loses this election.
8:20 pm
harris will win if it's a personality contest, but on the issues that americans care about , she has a bad record and the biden it ministration and really unpopular policies but it would be a mistake for trump to look at these numbers and thank maybe it's not as close as we thought, maybe we've got this in the bag. it's going to be a razor thin margin no matter how you slice it. >> trace: thank you both. coming up, new videos appearing to show kamala harris and tim walz completely ignoring the media. we will let you decide if it was intentional or not. and later in the nightcap... >> when she was young she worked at mcdonald's. and she greeted every person with that thousand watt smile and said how can i help you. >> trace: did she work at mcdonald's? looking more likely that kamala harris might have, you know, padded the resume a little bit. the fact that you worked at

walz have decided that all things are better left unsaid. commonsense would remind everyone that the lynyrd skynyrd role can always come back to haunt. remember, they also wrote a cautionary tale to politicians who refused to answer questions, it's a little song called what's your name. let's bring in district media group president along with the author of what's killing america , seattle talk radio host jason, to you first. the video, you can see the earphones, on the phone still goes to the ear. it just looks so phony and contrived. >> i used this exact same tactic over the weekend when i was on the flight, where you put on your headphones so you can't actually answer anyone who wants to talk to you, if you have someone seated next you who's annoying. it's a strategy that works but it's very transparent because everybody knows what it is you're doing your for think she realizes that, but she knows
8:29 pm
she's not going to get called out by left-wing media outlets and so really the only people who even saw the video are those folks who watch fox news or they called it on social media. but that's about it. it adds to her credibility issues of being inauthentic. >> trace: it really does. alexa got totally busted today, beverly. we never play 32nd soundbites on this show because we don't want people going to bed, but this is worth it. thirty seconds and listen to alexa being questioned about trump and about kamala harris. it's well worth it. >> alexa, why should i vote for donald trump? >> i cannot provide comment that provides a -- promotes up specific political party or candidate. >> alexa, why should i vote for kamala harris? >> there are many reasons to vote for kamala harris, the most significant may be that she's a woman of color who's overcome numerous obstacles to become a leader in her field. additionally, her experience as a prosecutor and her record of

accomplishment in the areas of criminal justice and immigration reform maker a compelling candidate. >> trace: i mean we asked at the top of the show but why is it that, mistakes always go the same direction? >> i want to say that clip is so powerful you don't even need our commentary on it, it tells the whole story. one of the things i think about this is that you have jeff bezos who owns amazon which owns alexa, he also owns the washington post. the washington post is not doing so well these days so i think he's inserting his bias into other products that he's felt. the concerning part too is that this is in millions of homes across the country and the bias is not even hidden, they are just saying we won't talk about donald trump, but always glowing reports of kamala harris. she's very busy and can't take questions but let's tell you how wonderful she is. >> trace: if they weren't caught red handed, this would still be going on tonight. kamala harris, or x post says, our veterans, military families and veterans should be honored,

families. they don't acknowledge that anything less then a perfect withdrawal happened in afghanistan. it is incredibly offensive. this idea that donald trump is the one who's acting politically is so absurd. the only time kamala harris, and joe biden, care about these families is when they can make some sort of point to attack donald trump. they have nothing to say when it comes to the sacrifices these families have made, losing their loved ones. they have nothing to say when it comes to offering a little bit of comfort and yet donald trump is here at their request and everyone is upset. yet again here's the theme, you are really only going to see those videos amplified on social media and on fox news because cnn will not cover this, msnbc will pretend it never happened, they completely in order it. >> trace: speaking of censorship, jonathan turley had the following to say. >> the biden harris administration has proven over the last three years to be the
