it makes a very simple argument saying kamala harris should skip plans and policies and stick with the vibe. but just so commonsense is clear, the advice is not just for harris to keep the joyride going, no, the advice is to shut down any and all information about where kamala harris currently stands on everything. here's the key sentence in the op-ed, "there's no indication that harris needs to offer specific potentially divisive policies on any issue." so the people who support the person running for president are not just telling her to zip it, they are telling her to zip it because whatever she says will offend somebody. and why offend when you can blend, when you can morph, when you can be all things to all people? and let's face it, most people are not paying attention so why not keep your options open? you want to cater to conservatives? adopt trump's policies. you want to placate

i wonder why this strategy, because it's now a pattern. why are they avoiding everybody like the plague, why not answer questions and get yourself out there and get your message out there? >> well i think that op-ed was up to something there because i've been asking myself that question all day. when i was in the media, i love to the fact that i got to see candidates in action. i got to meet them, i got to talk about vibe, you got a feel for their vibe, but i got to see who they really were. we are not seeing that in this cycle. what disappoints me is we have such an opportunity as voters. president trump is maxing out on podcast, he's doing podcasts with everybody. podcasts have exploded in the four years since the last election and that's where you really get to see a candidate for who they really are. i have to say, trump sat down with such a variety of podcasters and he's the same person in every podcast. i would like to see if kamala

harris could do the same thing. >> trace: it's a great analysis because even if you don't listen to that podcast, the word gets out and that's an important part. the problem here, this is a reporter from fox 43 telling fox digital about the tim walz event saying, a reporter from the local nbc affiliate shouted out question after governor walz was finished speaking to volunteers and we were told by the campaign to not disturb the interactions between governor walz and the volunteers, telling the media don't disturb tim walz? he's running for office. >> the open disregard with which errors and walz treat the media makes a mockery of our press because if we had a functioning and self-respecting press, they would have so much more coverage about the lack of interviews, access, transparency with his campaign but we don't have a functioning press, we have a propaganda press and kamala harris' team knows that, they know they can throw out 20

minute interview and a few press releases and the press will still give the best coverage in the world. it's really unfortunate for the american people who depend on the press to get answers to those tough questions 60 days out from election. >> trace: and being scolded at a rally because you are being too loud? the new york times rights this about the debate rules, these just came out, vice president kamala harris' campaign has begrudgingly agreed to have her and former president donald trump's microphones muted when they are not speaking, a position top harris officials tried to change last week to give themselves an advantage when the candidates meet on stage next tuesday. i mean they wanted to kind of go to the former president into talking over her so that she could scold him a few times during the debate. what do you think about the rules? >> i was glad when i saw how they were going to operate this particular debate because i'm afraid it's the only one we will see. i would love to hear how they are both going to address the issues and each other, but i really don't like the talking

fake candidate. >> trace: thank you both. meantime a horrific tragedy at a georgia high school, at least four people killed in a shooting, many more sent to hospital with injuries. a 14-year-old suspect is now in police custody. senior correspondent live in georgia with the latest. what are we learning tonight. >> reporter: law enforcement revealing some new details and it's likely the numbers will stay the same. four dead, nine wounded. those nine wounded with shotgun wounds in hospital. they are likely all to survive. likely to stay up four dead but sadly among those four, two students killed just aged 14. we've learned the weapon used was a rifle by the shooter, ar-15. how the 14-year-old suspect got access to that rifle, how he got it into school still not known. we are learning more too about an fbi tip about the suspected shooter. one year ago he was living in a

different county, there was not enough information to take any action on that tip but certainly some red flags early on the suspect. a lot of the relatives of students inside the school learned about the shooting as it was happening, including a text exchange between this grandmother and her granddaughter inside the school during the shooting. >> my oldest granddaughter texts me and said i love you. it was strange and so she text back and says come and get me now, somebody is shooting at the school. and when she said that, my heart to just dropped. >> reporter: there is a lot of heartbreak and there was a lot of panic here earlier today. authorities say that that 14-year-old suspect will be charged with murder. they also say they expect to try him as an adult. back to you. >> trace: live for us on the ground, thank you. let's bring in former member of

israel special operations counterterrorist unit and fox news contributor and former nypd inspector. thank you for coming on. the 14-year-old suspect in today shooting made online threats apparently last year. the fbi released a statement saying, the jackson county sheriff's office located a possible suspect, a 13-year-old male and interviewed him at his father. the father stated he had hunting guns in the house but the subject did not have unsupervised access to them. it seems like this is a red flag and this is the first thing you look at when the same stuff starts to bubble up again a year later, aaron cohen. >> i agree with you. i think that we've seen enough active shooters in the last 25 years since columbine for a couple of significant changes to happen between federal and local law enforcement. one, there needs to be greater threat assessment rules implemented the moment a kid like this is flag. that needs to generate some type of an immediate alert.

the second thing is the protocols between the fbi and local authorities for increased monitoring. it's real simple, special operations, we call this intelligence. the longer you have eyes following this case, the better off you are at preventing the shooting from happening. i'm not saying we need school security measures and let's start checking bags, we aren't there yet but we are getting close. a plug could've been put in this hole had those measures been emplaced. >> trace: here's the sheriff, watch. >> there shooter was armed and our school resource officer engaged him. the shooter quickly realized that if he did not give up... that it would end with an officer involved shooting. he gave up, on the ground, the deputy took him into custody. >> trace: two points for you, paul mauro. fourteen is young for a shooter. we've covered these for years. are you surprised the shooter decided to surrender?

>> i am surprised. both of those things are unusual incidents. one of the things you have to consider here is that he must have been new to the school. it's a high school. given his age, he must be a freshman. it's the beginning of the school year so this feels to me like something that he was really determined to do that might not have had anything to do with any trigger in the school itself. one of the things this is going to go back to, and whether or not it will apply under georgia law remains to be seen, is the case where the parents were charged because the student had access to their guns, despite very obvious red flags. in this case, we know the flags were there to the extent that the fbi was notified and yet nonetheless he was able to do what he did. a lot of investigation to go here, motive, social media, digital investigation, all of those things still to come but you know that is something that will be looked at very hard. >> trace: i want to switch over quickly because

of course you didn't. watch this. >> alexa, why should i vote for donald trump? >> i cannot provide content that promotes a specific political party or specific candidate. >> alexa, why should i vote for kamala harris? >> there are many reasons to vote for kamala harris, the most significant may be that she is a woman of color who has overcome numerous obstacles to become a leader in her field. additionally, her experience as a prosecutor and her record of accomplishment in the areas of criminal justice and immigration reform maker a compelling candidate. >> trace: the question is always, why is it that these mistakes only favor the left? nobody ever screws up and it benefits the republicans. >> exactly. the error only happens against trump and the republican party. clearly this is intentional matter think as a society as we move towards artificial intelligence, we need to expect this. it's important to call it out quickly and i'm glad that alexa got busted. >> trace: because the same thing, you have the social media

companies that are coming out saying we are so sorry about that laptop thing, so sorry about the covid then, so sorry about alexa. >> exactly, it's laughable. you see these people and they sort of try to pretend that it's not biased and it's just an error. look, it may not be literally jeff bezos on his super yacht somewhere in the mediterranean typing in the answers, but all of the other people who are there in these companies, this is the reason this happens, they are far to the left, not even mainstream democrats. silicon valley, these tech companies, the people there who are coding the algorithms that produce this kind of bias, they are all on the far left and until that changes, we are going to keep seeing this and that's why as gloria says, we have to call it out. >> trace: of content to sneak this in. the free press says, what are the chances that the president kamala harris would forbear and avoid arm-twisting social media companies into censorship based on harris' record? not great. fifteen seconds for each. >> we listen to her talk about
