biggest game of the season so far. that's absolutely accurate to the say, texas-michigan. rachel: well, that's a big thing that's going on. but also we have the debate that's coming up, and a lot of people are looking at that, you know, politics can be a little bit like sports. and this debate, there's a lot riding on it, you guys. you know, kamala harris hasn't done many interviews, so this might be the first time people are going to get exposed to her view. by the way, it's interesting, i was reading up about this, and she's complaining that trump is not getting enough scrutiny. [laughter] her team has been putting out those messages. like, we don't know enough about donald trump even though he's done so many interview, town halls, sit-downs, one-on-ones, and she's done almost nothing. charlie: and you hear that even from the press. you know, "the new york times" editorial, one of their editorial writers was on morning joe the other day talking about how you shouldn't compare them

similarly and that the trump should get so much more scrutiny than kamala harris. will: there's got to be a political word within political teams, there's got to be a word of accusing a team of what -- rachel: projection. will: yeah, but we need to x, whatever that word is -- [laughter] flip it on 'em. charlie: playbook a. will: take a look at the headline in axios which says harris dodges scrutiny. merchandise this article it reads harris is copying president biden's self-protection media strategy. if her circumstances are different, for sure, she entered the race just seven weeks ago, did dozens of interviews before biden's exit as vice president is, not as president, and plans to do more interviews and gagglings. charlie: but the fact that it was a last minute -- two things. one is the idea that somehow -- that's not our fault. it's not the american people's

fault that her campaign is only seven weeks old. that's the democrat party's fault or her fault or joe biden's fault. it's not everybody else. but all the more important for her to get out and talk to voters. obviously, donald trump is making the most of this, watching him -- i think this is him, was in -- will: charlotte. charlie: last night, yesterday. >> she's right now practicing. do you know that? she's in pennsylvania, and she's practicing for the debate. she's locked herself in a room. she's got a lot to learn. she's locked herself -- [laughter] in a room, and they have one problem. do you know what the problem is? they have maga people outside screaming we love trump, we love trump, we love trump, and they condition focus. [cheers and applause] they can't focus. rachel: she is locked up. i think this is a bad strategy. you have to practice your answers, you have to hone your message. she hasn't been able to do that a because she's been hiding, and

now the excuse is that she's, you know, prepping and getting all this debate prep in pennsylvania. by the way, harris' team was asked about this, you know, this strategy of keeping her hidden. here's what they said. they said she made a decision not to get ooh too deep into specific policies can -- [laughter] because there's just not enough time. there's not enough time? i mean, can you imagine? this is, like, i know, like, elementary kids who have better excuses forking you know, why they can't do their job or their homework or whatever. this is absolutely unbelievable. will: well, i think -- i actually think this is a tricky debate for donald trump in a lot of ways, and i think, clearly, i think the strategy for kamala harris' campaign is to have this be a feeling and vibes debate meaning they would prefer this come out like, oh, donald trump was so mean to kamala harris, and that's why they wanted the mics open. there was an agreement that the mics would be muted when the other person is talking. what i think is tricky is donald trump has to the try to press her, try to expose her without

offending the casual, noncommitted voters who can see him as abrasive. and that's hard with a woman. bottom line truth is that is hard for anyone if who ever does public speaking. don't interrupt women, it's hard to be tough with women, you come off as the bad guy. i guess skeptical politicians in every way, when, for example, governor josh shapiro goes on "the view" and he says, hey, donald trump is actually good at this, i think he's setting the expectations bar. rachel: of course. will: and many people need to be or careful not to set the bar too low, because i think that's what's happening with shapiro when he raises the bar for trump. >> as for the debate, listen -- [laughter] as much as we want to to criticize donald trump, he's a liar, he's all these things, i think you said it before, people know donald trump. he is a skilled debater. he is a guy who's willing to say anything at anytime just to get through a question. and he's a showman. he's been on tv before.

so don't underestimate donald trump. now, i've known kamala harris 20 years. she is tough as nails, she's a prosecutor, she'll be preparedded as was said before. be ready to go. but this is the going to be a tough debate. rachel: you know, i think one of the tricks she's going to try is to really talk about her or strong -- what she perceives as her strong suit. she's going to want to talk about abortion. and i think it's going to be the really important for donald trump, if i was advising him, to say, hey, that issue is now up for the states, let's talk about the issues about the economy. let's talk about the american peel. -- people who have been hurt by your biden policies, your biden-harris policies on the economy. i think that's going to be the another tactic she's going to use. charlie: right. well, donald trump will say anything that he believes, and that's what's made him such a great candidate. he will say whatever it is that he believes, and he's been saying the same thing over and over again. so josh shapiro can try and use

that against him, but i think it's trump's greatest gift. the problem is that josh. shapiro's candidate, kamala harris, will say anything she has to say regardless of whether it's remotely true or not in order to win over a voter, and i do think that as stilted as everything is against trump, i do think that that breaks through even this kind of level of propaganda. will: one of the issues you would anticipate would come un, let's hope, is illegal immigration. and one of the things that should be pressed when it comes to kamala harris is what have your border policies created. we know in aurora, colorado, a venezuelan gang, tren de aragua, has taken over apartment complexes. they're collecting money from the people that live there. a congressional candidate in colorado had this to say about what's happening with this venezuelan gang. >> we are pushing back. the aurora city council, aurora

councilwoman has been on the forefront of this pushing constantly. and, look, the leaders of this community, the police department needs to do something. there's a definite problem. we know that there is. we know that tda is committing assaults, extortion, strong arm and child prostitution. something needs to be done. they need to get in the community, and they need to make some arrests. we really have no idea who's in this country right now as many unvetted young men, and this is a symptom of the problem that we're seeing. we're seeing these crimes start to be on the uprise and, look, poem have to connect this to the biden-harris -- people have to connect this to the biden-harris administration. the last three and a half years has been pure chaos at the border. will: that connection, i think this point needs to be freewaysed, that a year ago jared polis, the governor of colorado, thanked the biden-harris ad administration, appreciated them for opening the doors of america and to colorado for venezuelan migrant refugees.

rachel: right. that's exactly right. and that's why, you know, this congressional candidate, he's an ex-employee of i.c.e. a well -- as well, and it was shocking when i interviewed him this morning. he said they absolutely, the governor, the mayor, the police department all knew this was happening and were trying to downplay it. and part of the reason why i think they were trying to downplay it is they really have egg on their face for acting like they were just doing this great chair i in welcoming all these venezuelans who had not been properly vetted. again, these men who were arrested, two of them, these tren de aragua gang members, they were apprehended in eagle pass, they were let go. if they were told -- given papers that you should come back, gang members, just make sure you come back for your court date. they weren't evented, they didn't, obviously, come back to the their court date. they went to aurora, colorado, and they're doing this.

and, i mean, this is unbelievable because this state has literally rolled out the red carpet. charlie: and never forget that the whole point of sanctuary cities and skates, the whole point so the prevent authorities from enforcing the actual laws that prevent illegal immigration. that that's the whole design behind -- rachel: and because they are sanctuary cities, once they release them on bail f i guess, $1,000 bail, there's no -- they're not trackable. charlie: right. rachel: i.c.e. isn't able to track them because they're a sanctuary city. so, you know, who knows if these guys --way. will: colorado's a sanctuary state. rachel: yeah. will: it's happening in wisconsin with the same venezuelan gang. milling -- bill melugin tweeted the following: police in prairie du chien announced the arrest of a suspected trend day rag a what gang member who who allegedly

violently and sexually attacked a woman and injured a juvenile in the process. st i.c.e. is now involved. at the same time this is happening in america, the ends wail land population has gone down -- venezuelan population and crime have gone down by an anticipated 25%. going down in venezuela, up colorado. if. rachel: go ahead. charlie: and the idea that we're in the middle of an election and one of the people who is running in the election is single-handedly responsible for the policies that brought in these individuals, waved them into the country to commit these crimes, and most of the media isn't even talking about it? it's just mind-blowing. it's just -- i can't even wrap my brain around it. rachel: you talked about in venezuela, and i know i bring it up a lot, but i'm going to keep saying it because it just shows you don't really love your people. who years ago, two and a half years ago congressman nells in texas had a information that they were empty thing the

♪ charlie: a terror plot foiled as the fbi charges a pakistani citizen in canada with planning a shooting at a jewish center in new york city in support of isis. prosecutors say the suspect plotted to carry out the shooting on the one-year anniversary of hamas' deadly attacks in israel, but he was caught just12 miles away from the northern border this week. here to react a, fox news contributor and former secretary of state mike pompeo. mr. secretary, thanks for joining us. >> charlie, great to be with you. charlie: this is really extraordinary and, obviously, it points up, you know, the importance of actually, i don't know, having a border and enforcing it. but you're also somebody who knows something about being targeted by foreign adversaries on domestic soil. >> well, charlie, what you can see from this is this risk that so many of us try to the put out of our minds, i think so many americans forget 9/11, coming up on the anniversary here in the

week many front of us, and the risks inside the united states is very real. we saw the fbi director talk about red lights flashing, we have millions of people inside our country from all over the world, we have no idea where they are, who they are or what their intentions are. the heightened terror risk inside of whether it's canada or the united states is very, very real, and the task that we put in front of the fbi is very difficult. and the fact that we still don't have control of our border makes the risk of this greatly increased over the coming days, weeks and months. charlie: it's kind of astonishing how much time they spend worrying about things that aren't related to this when this is, obviously, should be their top priority. i also wanted to get your reaction to this, starting on monday the house is teeing up china week with floor votes aimedded at combating ccp espionage and economic advances. as as former secretary of state and former cia director, you warned the white house put blinders on as china has

infiltrated our government. what do you mean by that? >> charlie, the chinese communist party has had a concerted, determined, massive effort to infiltrate government at every level of the united states and, frankly, the private sector too. so city government, city councils, school boards, county commissions. we saw what happened in the new york governor's office where they had a chinese spy operating at the very senior levels of the new york state government for an awfully long time, and no one figured it out or even wanted the look. governor hochul just had to the look away. she had to have known she had a problem there. this risk that the can chinese communist party is actually the here inside the gates, working against our government, winning friends, conducting propaganda campaigns and undermining our institutions and our government is very, very real. in 2020 the i gave a set of remarks to the national governors' association where the chinese communist party had rated every single u.s. governor whether they were friend, foe or working on them, basically. they are working against every

one of those leaders, and they're not taking it seriously in places like new york and california where we've seen congressmen get too close to spies, we saw a former senator have an adversary working inside of her own team, her own staff. this is a real risk, charlie, and this will end badly if we don't get our hands on it. and if vice president harris were to become president, i doubt she would take it seriously. charlie: you know, it's really remark remarkable when you consider, obviously, there's a very coordinated earth by china to infiltrate -- effort -- but there's also a evidence that they're sending army as of people just across the border because the biden-harris regime has allowed the border to remain wide open. >> charlie, we all mow that most of the fentanyl -- know that most of the fentanyl that the has killed so many americans across this country comes, at least the precursors, come from china. we know we've got fighting-age males in the hundreds and thousands from china coming across our border. that is not an easy route.

♪ >> manhattan d.a. witch hunt against me has been postponed because everyone realizes that there was no case, because i didding nothing wrong. it's a witch hunt ofst an attack the by -- it's an attack by my political opponents in washington d.c. will: former president trump lashing out at manhattan d.a. a alvin bragg and washington democrats after judge juan merchan postponed his sentencing in the case until after the presidential election. here to react, george washington university law professor and fox news contributor e jonathan thursdayly -- turley. great to have you with us this morning. >> thank you, will. will: i think everyone has acknowledged most objective, rational people have acknowledged the weakness of the initial conviction of donald trump, and then that was confirmed somewhat with the supreme court saying he has presidential immunity on so many as aspects that would have ended up undermining the new york conviction. but do you think judge merchan, professor if -- who i think has

been fairly obstinate in not worrying about the law and pursuing what looks like a political case -- do you think he was impacted by the political fallout should he have sentenced donald trump? >> oh, i think so. he might actually have been sort of sub consciously or or to consciously aware that if he hit trump with a jail sentence, he very well could have reelected him. i mean, every time the public saw what was happening in manhattan, trump went up in the polls. and and i think merchan knew that that he could very well have have proved the catalyst to reelect the president. this president has been fairly hostile towards president trump many all of his rulings, i was in that. courtroom, and i was shocked by many of his rulings which, in my view, were manifestly wrong. and also this sudden epiphany that we're in an election seems rather belated or, you know? this is the same judge that

refused to curtail his, in my view, unconstitutional gag order, kept the president in that courtroom during the campaign and never indicated any concern over the fact that the this was in the middle of a campaign. will: right. yeah, by process of elimination, professor, that's why i keep coming back to this, he didn't care about true precedent or legal justification, he didn't care about the impact on an election when he thought the it might help to the point of the gag order. the only thing that's changed now is i think he cared that the it might help donald trump, actually, if if he had sentenced him. [laughter] another political case, well, another case that touches on politics is hunter biden. and so now hunter biden has pled guiltying to filing false tax returns, two counts. we can put it up on the screen here. felony tax evasion, one count of felony failure to pay, four counts of a misdemeanor failure to file, two counts of a misdemeanor. now, joe biden concern is asked

recently, by the way, karine jean-pierre doubled down, tripled down that there will be no pardon for hunter biden. do you believe that? >> welsh you know, almost two years ago i wrote a column saying i thought there was a real chance that joe biden could withdraw from running for re-election and pardon his son on the way out and accept that this was the misuse of that a pardon authority. that is still a real chance. by setting the calendar as it has been, this puts the decision right in the sweet spot for the hunter biden team where they would want this decision to be made. after the election with weeks before the inauguration. that's when we've seen the greatest abuse of the pardon power occur. that's when bill clinton waited until the very last day to pardon his brother which was just a manifestly improper act in the use of his authority, but it was a legal act. this is not, there's not a

restriction on the pardon authority in this sense. so i think that the hunter biden team is probably hoping that this is still a real a possibility. also a, if the judge hands down a particularly harsh sentence, it's going to increase the pressure on joe biden to reverse his promise. remember, this is the one who said that the lord almighty would have to tell him to leave the race, and then he left the race. will: right. so how much stock do we put in that he won't, him saying he won't pardon hunter biden. by the way, on the sentencing to your point as an interesting note, sentencing date is currently set as december 16th for hunter biden leaving that one-month window, three-week window for a pardon right there from joe biden. we'll wait and see. jonathan turley, thanks so much for being with us this morning. >> thank you, will. will: a venezuelan opposition leader calling for the u.s. to interview after the country's bogus election. what they need to combat the maduro regime, next.

to do anything. rachel: here to discuss is daniel garza. daniel, great to have you on this morning. she says america should be doing more. what exactly should america be doing? what should our government do in this situation? >> well, rachel, this all started because the elections were intended to be an effort to restore democracy, to have the u.s. ease sanctions as a prize if, right? but maduro never intended to the lose. he stole the election, has shut down any transparency and recently issued an arrest warrant to the actual winner of the election. biden and harris got hoodwinked by maduro, and now the entire hemisphere is worse off. they've lacked the will or leadership the respond effectively and really are out of options. so so they need to lead. lead a nonmilitary strategy to pressure regime change, right? lead a coalition made up of chile and -- at the organization of american statements and

others who are fed if up with the. >> corrupt maduro administration and if implement diplomatic pressures that aggressively act to keep me nefarious states like cuba, china, iran or russia away or resource internal efforts, right? led by the venezuelan -- to rise gwen the regime. rachel: i always get nervous when i hear the top thetic of regime change. i don't think that's our job as americans, as the government, but the fact that the the venezuelan government, maduro -- they're not a government, they're a dictatorship -- that he hasn't been more shamed for the young people that have been taken into prisons, disappeared, many of them in reeducation camps? this man should have no place anywhere in any respectable circles in the international community. and i just feel like also there's a sigh eleven about it. there's not -- silence about it. there's not a lot of conversation about what's happening to the people of venezuela who rightfully won an election, the opposition did, and they're being persecuted. it's a very trouble thing

situation -- >> i share your sentiment. but one hinge is for sure, the inaction is worsening things for the people of venezuela and the entire western hemisphere. rachel: no question. >> the fact is there's also concern about terrorist agents using venezuela as a staging ground that would come into the u.s. rachel: yes. >> so it has a real impact with immigration as well, folks fleeing the nation into america -- rachel: oh, yeah. venn wail la is a foothold for iran, no question about it. and china. you talked about how there's so much disruption in and that democracy is essentially roding -- eroding at levels weaver never seen before in latin america, and one of those examples is brazil where x has been shut down. today the there are some protests expected in brazil against the government and against this judge that's going after elon musk and, and. i want you to listen to this -- and x. listen to this little clip from michael shellenberger. we had him on last week.
