late news, fox news at night breaking tonight less than 24 hours before the big debate and we have brand-new poll numbers from the new york times showing donald trump leading kamala harris in the presidential race, meaning her momentum or her vibe has slowed maybe even stalled which significantly raises the stakes of the big debate and both campaigns doing a fair share of predebate crash -- trash talking. >> she cannot hide from her tenure during the biden administration. >> there is no floor for him in terms of how low he would go and we should be prepared for that. >> trace: we have brand-new information showing the debate moderator could be friendlier toward kamala harris. the media research centre saying abc news is the most biased of the three mainstream news networks, worse than cbs and nbc. plus there is this. >> i...

was heavily favoured in pulling back in 2022 and a so-called red wave never materialized so we just have to wait and see how things all work out. all this comes as we are now just 56 days until the november election and it just 22 hours before what could be the lone debate between the candidates. as for the rules, similar to the first debate. muted mikes, live studio. -- no live studio. answers two minutes. follow-ups just one. as for the tactics, the vice president is expected to utilize prosecutorial skills. you know her background, as a lawyer. she probably planned to paint mr trump as being dark and divisive and no doubt hopes to bait donald trump instead of being baited. as for the former president he plans to go after the harris flip-flops. he will likely try to tie her to joe biden policies and he will probably also let things breathe

a little bit and see if she gives in to some of those words salads we've seen so often. and while they have been days in debate preparation the former president has done more town halls and public availabilities to sharpen his skills. i will be with you here tomorrow at midnight to recap. >> trace: kevin corke live for us in dc. let's bring in tricia mclaughlin ... welcome to you both. tricia to you first. i want to play some sound of kamala harris on the rick smiley morning show where she said this >> there is no floor for him in terms of how low he would go and we should be prepared for that. we should be prepared for the fact that he is not burdened by telling the truth. >> trace: it seems to me like the goal is she's going to attack donald trump and the question becomes she also needs to boost herself right?

>> right. at 28 percent of respondents in that new york times survey found that people still didn't know what she stood for. they wanted to learn more about her. instead of introducing herself and her policies to the american people, of which she has view even though she did lay out a short policy proposal on her website today, she is instead going to filibuster for most of this debate. she's going to say i'm going to fact check and realtime what donald trump is saying instead of answering questions on energy policy. what is her position on fracking? there is a report today that came out that said she wanted taxpayer funded gender transition surgeries for migrants under u.s. care. that is insane but she doesn't want to answer those questions. she wants to say donald trump is lying and that's the filibuster tactic to run up the debate time >> trace: the wall street journal writes the following. press failure inflates a debate on tuesday night at the national constitution centre in

philadelphia. they will have at it for 90 minutes. the low expectations for miss harris maybe an advantage. all she has to do is not humiliate herself and her performance will be hailed as a triumph. it's true, the expectations are low, especially after joe biden right? >> we see the media already doing her favours, setting the bar low and making sure the american people know the bar is on the floor. she better hope of the performance is resounding because i'm not a sports girl and even i can tell you that we are already on our second quarter back here with the democrats and there's no one left on the bench. they cannot swap out if she does poorly like joe biden did during his debate against president trump. president trump will have one job, reminded the american people of the disaster that has been the last four years. and she can lie all she wants, we heard bernie sanders tell us over the weekend that she is going to do that and she will
8:07 pm
slide by in order to get through to the final election but that's not going to work for us. she has to tell the truth. >> trace: talk about a segue, here is bernie sanders saying the quiet part out loud. >> do you think that she is abandoning her progressive ideals? >> i don't think she is abandoning her ideals. i think she's trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is good to win the election. i do consider her a progressive. >> trace: pragmatic is code for she's making things up to win. >> that's right. we know she's going to go after donald trump this debate but she's going to prosecute donald trump the man, the character. donald trump needs to prosecute kamala harris and her record of. and everything she's gone on to say but has refused to answer the questions to the media she

tricia laid out the details of it at all surprised at all that they are trying to flip the switch at the last minute like this but we know the reality of kamala harris will be radical chaos around to. >> trace: thank you both. meantime the conservative media watchdog is calling out a bc, the network hosting the big debate, for its alleged biased coverage of vice president harris. >> as part of this study the media research centre says they analyse news coverage of both donald trump and kamala harris during the evening news broadcast on abc, cbs and nbc and they determined that tomorrow's debate host, a bc, had by far the most biased coverage. according to the study, abc anchor... who happens to be one of the hosts tomorrow night had covered harris with a 100 percent positive spin score, specifically the report claims since harris entered the race,
8:10 pm
he made 25 positive statements and zero negative ones about her. in contrast, trump had gotten five positive commentsgative com the spin score of just a positive 7 percent with the media research director saying while our score similarly excludes all democratic soundbites about the republican nominee, the reporters and anchors either jumped into criticize trump themselves or broadcast negative comments from nonpartisan sources to impart a heavily negative spin to the former presidents coverage. >> i'm going in to very hostile territory. the debate with abc. abc is the worst of everybody. i think they are the worst p. or they are the nastiest. and they are as bad as you can be. they are worse than nbc which is saying a lot. >> he feels he's going into the lion's den tomorrow night. trump says the only reason he accepted this abc debate is he
8:11 pm
feels it's really the only way he was able to get the harris campaign to agree to it and get her face-to-face on stage. >> trace: makes a fair point. thank you. the fox news a night commonsense department, much like the voters in the viewers, is hoping the debate is a totally fair contest. both candidates are left to fend for themselves and yet equal treatment. no fear, no favour. commonsense also thanks no chance. turns out a new study by the media research centre that bill was talking about indicates that when it comes to abc news, the bias is built into the brand. the study found that moderator david muir just so happens to anchor one of the most pro- kamala harris newscasts in the country and it likely would not shock you to learn the very same newscast is massively anti- trump. from that day kamala harris enter the race, the coverage of donald trump, 93 percent
8:12 pm
negative. that means according to abc, trump gets one out of 14 things right, but the abc coverage of kamala harris is a 100 percent positive. she does everything right. every policy, every position. at three flip and flop gets a perfect score. sounds like moderators are going to have a tough time challenging her perfection and relatively easy time challenging trump's imperfections. in other words, commonsense is pretty sure that kamala harris is going to catch a few lucky breaks tomorrow night and then we can all sit back and marvel at the abcs of journalism. let's bring in former advisor to ... great to have you on the show. nobody at abc had a bad thing to say about kamala harris. that is political perfection joe
8:13 pm
>> that is pyongyang. that is moscow 1984. soviet union. 100 percent positive. that something even saddam hussein didn't get when he was running a rock back in the day. donald trump has to take this into his home -- own hands. if he's asked a question that is leading in one direction that he feels is biased, just answer the question that you think it should have been asked instead of the one that you were asked and he can control this conversation. the bottom line is that donald trump is the favourite going into this debate. if he is tied nationally like we saw, that means he's winning every swing state. at this point in the 2016 campaign, hillary clinton was up eight points nationally and she still lost. so what does that tell us? donald trump tomorrow night, i asked a couple of basic questions if i could have some room here.
8:14 pm
kamala harris, why have you knocked on one interview on your own sins joe biden dropped out, do you commit to holding a press conference before the end of the week or month? wire you and your running mates so afraid of a press that adores you? who is the incumbent? you or me. if the answer is you and it is you, you... you own people moving out of cities like san francisco and going to places like florida and tennessee and i will leave it here,. >> trace: you all me 30 seconds. -- oh me >> trace: kamala harris is imitating the media strategy. even win asked questions that should be layoffs the democratic ticket, or perhaps who advised them, seem to believe that nothing good can come from talking to the media. apparently the belief is there
8:15 pm
is no upside and there's a lot of downside. >> they say a lot of low reward high risk with her talking to media that's based on her record of. we know that. she was trying to show that she wasn't radical and she was not as reactive or defensive of things. that's what she has to show tomorrow night if she wants to keep that going. i will say that the strategy that -- having... was a huge mistake because if you say that's an effective strategy, it hasn't been. we saw it. keeping your elite democratic circle so tightly wound around the candidate has made them impossible to see the actual what happening. the harris campaign wood behoove themselves not to repeat those mistakes.
8:16 pm
>> trace: alex thompson said the following. >> some of her worst moments as vice president were in some of these unscripted interview moments. she is not usually as comfortable in those settings. she still has not done one solo interview. she has raised the stakes for every unscripted moment that she has. that's why tomorrow night's debate has really become this really pivotal moment for her. >> trace: we will here everywhere she says. i've got three and a half seconds for you. i'm kidding. >> donald trump and jd vance have done 40 interviews in the past, kamala harris has not done one solo interview and nor has tim ressurreição.
8:17 pm
>> talk about moving forward, your policies versus kamala harris and you win this debate if he's disciplined. >> you have to stay disciplined, you can't go personal attacks. donald trump is trying to win over the women by attacking her for being a woman and calling her names is knocking to do it. trying to stay on policy and... >> we see a tie in the poll and this to me as part of an emerging pattern, which is in a very pivotal state. what we saw is a small harris lead but within the margin of error becoming a race that is way too close to call at this particular point. one that is even. >> the stakes are high on the eve of what looks to be the only debate between vice president
8:18 pm
harris and former president trump. let's preview the big night with the federalist elections correspondent and trump campaign national press secretary... thank you both for coming on. i want to put the big pull up here because this is the big news of the day. new york times and i had to head, kamala harris 47, donald trump 48. looks like the sugar high is wearing off a little bit and donald trump is making a bit of a comeback. your thoughts. >> i don't even know if i would call it a comeback. he was never down bad. one of the things that stood out to me from this poll is that 63 percent of respondents said they want to see major change from joe biden and when asked which candidate would deliver that, 25 percent said kamala harris, if the 1 percent said donald trump. soy thank this underscores why her team really wanted to change the dynamics of tomorrow's debate because they are really reliant on that moment to
8:19 pm
detract from her short comings. a lot of people are tethering her to the biden administration's failures and that's going to be hard to spend the next eight weeks convincing voters... >> trace: it's interesting because the poll also had this portion of it which i thought was fascinating. do you think the next president should represent a major, minor or no change from joe biden. you can see 63 percent of the country, major change and you looked next to the column there, trump a 51 percent believe that he does represent major change. that's a big number for the former president. >> he certainly does represent major change from the last four years of the biden harris administration. as much as kamala harris wants to run away from her record of the past four years, she owns every crisis. the immigration crisis, the inflation crisis and the foreign policy crises, mainly that
8:20 pm
withdrawal from afghanistan which she said... tomorrow night president trump is finally going to hold kamala harris accountable and the more that voters get to know her the less they like her. the more they see how dangerous and liberal she is, tonight there was a bombshell report saying that kamala harris has expressed report -- support for the decriminalization of all drugs and forcing taxpayers to fund sex changes for illegal immigrants. the vast majority of americans disagree with her. him -- the more voters know her, the less they will like her. >> we continue to see mediocre data for kamala harris like a new poll with a very large sample size that showed the raised tide nationally which would probably translate to a loss for harris in the electoral college and he's right. she needs bigger numbers. >> i the fact that donald trump is projected to win the
8:21 pm
electoral college speaks to how radical kamala harris is. you need more than regional density, you need a geographical balance and to get that balance, you need moderate policies. that poll we just spoke about, they belief that harris is more liberal than donald trump's conservative. he is the moderate candidate and his policies appealed to those moderate voters. >> trace: finally, they write the following, the issues are still working in his favour but if trump behaves badly on tuesday he will lose the debate and the election and he will have no one to blame but himself as they say you can't have something stolen from you if you've already given it away, will he get himself into trouble? >> president trump is well-prepared and he's proven to be one of the most effective debaters in american political history. he knocked joe biden out of the race, he is well read on kamala harris is very lengthy, terrible, dangerous and liberal record.
8:22 pm
she refused to deport illegals, president trump is ready and everyone should tune in. >> trace: i think everybody will be and we will be right here afterwards. coming up, residents of springfield ohio say the migrant crisis as having a negative effect on their community. and later on in the nightcap. >> he's got to make a specific attack on the issues and say she is responsible for it and i have a specific plan that's going to make things better. >> trace: arguing that former president trump has the harder job at tomorrow night's debate so who do you think has the more difficult job? let us know. we will read your responses coming up in the nightcap. we are coming back with a littlu bit of immigration problems. you. so go ahead, live unfiltered with the one and only sotyktu, a once-daily pill for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis,

(♪♪) >> trace: 1400 miles from the southern border the residents of springfield ohio were fed up with an influx of illegal immigrants that has brought the crime crisis to the very heart of their city. >> safe to say these residents are not happy. springfield has a population of 58,000 people and now about 20,000 haitians have arrived in the city and as a result, local residents say there is an uptick in crime, mayhem, car crashes and other things and they are telling leadership they are fed up about it. >> i challenge you guys to get out here and do something. they are running into trash cans , running into buildings. they are running into, and they are flipping cars in the middle of the street. >> i'm angry that foreigners foreigners are using up the resources...

i'm angry that another country's flag was being flown in our city i'm angry when i see our businesses and recreational areas littered with garbage, left by people that do not know or understand our laws and culture and our -- are making no attempt to learn about them. >> the mayor says springfield cannot handle the sudden influx of so many and it's draining local resources. >> our safety services are exhausted because of trying to care for people in a safe manner. it's become very difficult. this border crisis, the policy of this administration is failing cities like hours and taxing us beyond our limits. >> in case you are wondering how so many would show up all of a sudden, the biden administration has allowed over 205,000 haitians to fly into the united states as part of its controversial migrant flights mass parole program. that going on as we speak right
8:30 pm
now. >> trace: we've got some sound of kamala harris bragging about that program. let's bring in bill away born and... gentlemen thank you for coming on. sheriff to you first. i want to play one more soundbite from one of the residents of springfield, ohio. >> our city services are overwhelmed and understaffed but who is protecting us if we are protecting them? who is protecting me. i want out of this town. i'm sorry. >> trace: the whole problem here is population is 58,000 and you have 20,000 illegal immigrants that have flooded into this place that are taking over the city. they are taking people's pets and killing them and eating them >> this is a tremendous tragedy. that's like a lot of other towns across america today as we've had this incredible influx of immigrants. any time that a city grows by that much that quickly, you're
8:31 pm
talking about 20 percent of the population is suddenly there. why wouldn't it crushed the infrastructure? why wouldn't it overwhelm the school systems and the emergency rooms. them a hand that is occurring of the two or 3 percent that may be doing... it's hot -- it's got to be incredibly frustrating for those citizens. that's what we have been handed today. >> trace: we were talking about this with bill. kamala harris, this is her in 2021 writing about that program that allowed 250,000 haitian migrants to come into this country. >> we gave temporary protective status to haitian migrants. 55,000. and then more recently be extendedn. they need support. >> trace: that was then and now she is running as fast as she can away from this program
8:32 pm
and anything that looks like the border is not secure. >> isn't that typical kamala harris. it's unfortunate that this demographic has taken a spotlight once again. that was the main influx back in 2021. it was also the demographic that caused all the chaos and mayhem and you can see the footage... it is unfortunate and the sheriff mentioned it. it's unfortunate is migrant crime is impacting people everywhere across america and it's no longer a border issue, it's an american issue. it shows that border security is bigger than immigration. what you are seeing right now is public safety and citizens are tired of it. >> you can't get much further from the southern border than new york and now you have the council asking the governor saying listen, we need to
8:33 pm
temporarily drop the sanctuary status so we can get our self under control and try to help these people and move some of them to other places. >> it's amazing that what we've been saying in texas for a long time suddenly is in new york and are waking up and saying wait a minute, the sanctuary study stuff ashman people always say aren't you a christian and i say i am but even have been as -- has an immigration policy for god's sakes. we need to wake up and we need to do something about this now. >> trace: that's right. back in your wheelhouse, a peruvian illegal immigrant arrested for abducting a virginia teenager. this is what they are going through. listen to this from one of the spokespeople from ice. he says he is on unlawfully

present peruvian noncitizen. border patrol arrested him december 19th 2023 after he unlawfully entered the u.s. in arizona. border patrol issued him a notice to appear before a judge and released him from custody. this is standard operating procedure up and down. >> this is catch and release playing out right before our eyes. a system that has been abused by this administration. it is something that we had curtailed under the previous administration and we warned everybody involved from the white house down that this is what's going to happen if you start defunding ice, if you start readdressing priorities and moving money to the pet projects. this is about america, it's about american security. about public safety. how many times does this have to play out before somebody get this right.

8:42 pm
police spokesperson scotty pennington says the strategy is to wear him down. >> last night it got pretty chilly and today it's humid and hot. hopefully he has no water and nothing to eat. hopefully he will walk out of the woods and give himself up. >> a motive is still unknown but police said it was preplanned. he illegally purchased an ar-style rifle and -- and around 1000 rounds of ammo. he has no criminal record and as the manhunt continues, residents are being urged to lock their doors and stay vigilant. he's believed to be armed and dangerous. >> trace: let's bring in former nypd inspector and contributor paul morrow along with... gentlemen, think you both for coming on. the kentucky state police officer, we heard him. he talked about the strategy here appear calm want to play that abigail your take on this. >> this has become a methodical

effort. similar to hide and seek. we are focused on protecting the residents and their homes and the businesses. our goal is to apply steady pressure in wearing him down. >> trace: good strategy? your thoughts. >> it's a good strategy. they've used it before. they've had people go into the mountains like that. he planned this out, how far he planned it we don't know. the drones, the helicopters with the thermal imaging and the drones with the thermal imaging. once they get a location they will send the dogs in and start narrowing down their search. could be using radios to be speaking to somebody else or he's listening to what's going on. they can wait him out and we don't know how far he planned this and if he has any thing in the woods with him. like food, shelter.
8:44 pm
they will wait him out but it's good that they can contain it to one area. >> he talks about not knowing how long the planning was. doesn't seem to be that long because the lexington herald leader writes the following. shortly before opening fire on unsuspecting travellers, he said a chilling text to his ex-wife pledging i'm going to kill a lot of people. while i'm going to try at least. couch sending follow-up texts quoting i will kill myself afterwards. he has apparently a list of priors. he was on the radar, a lot of red flags associated with this person. >> one of his more recent was terroristic threats. it's a misdemeanour in kentucky and doesn't prescribe you from buying a gun. that's what the... the preplanning here is what's concerning. we don't know how much he did but right now the weather is your ally if you are the police and he is in those mountains because at some point he's going
8:45 pm
to run out of food or water. it may force him to show himself. on the other hand if he had enough planning that he did this as a head fake and he's not going to kill himself and he planned to get away and he had a vehicle that nobody knew about or he had some other escape plan, we don't know where he is with the tough case. this is going to take some effort. >> i want to move to miami. the wide receiver for the miami dolphins. here's the video of him getting arrested. watch. >> keep your window down i will get you out of the car. get out of the car. get out of the car.
8:46 pm
>> trace: win you see that body cam video, what you think? >> the audio was a little erratic. he should have complied. knocking on the window is not a big deal. he knocked on it lightly. he approach them in a professional manner. it's what happens afterwards that gets a little carried away. it's a little overzealous. the other officer is handling something away from the scene so i think that's why he's on administrative leave right now but the body camera shows everything that's going on. the thing is, just comply with the officers. get a ticket, by bit later and do something. at least comply. these things get out of control win somebody fails to comply when they think they are above the law, this is for his safety and the police officer's safety. >> trace: it's a good point. you look at this and you talked
8:47 pm
to a lot of officers and they tell you the same thing. we've seen examples of cops getting shot, that window goes up and they got shot through the window. so he should comply. what about the handling and the throne him on the ground? >> car stops are among the most tense events that police officers handle and it's in the topic two in terms of police officers being injured. i'm sure the police were very much on guard and the fact that he won't comply can be nerve-racking. your job is to de-escalate. you have to control on a car stopped but you don't want to escalate and one of the things that goes on here is it seems to escalate as a goes along. nobody steps into de-escalate. now everybody is predictably escalating in the media. this is becoming all the usual suspects are stepping forward. miami dolphins put out a statement that doesn't help. i would like to make one point.
8:48 pm
as they racialized this and as mr. hill said he was stopped for being black. look at the tent on that car. one of the things people don't realize is you don't stop the car as a cop. 99 times out of 100, you don't see the driver. you stop the car. there's nobody somebody could see the race or anything about the driver in that car within that level of tint. i'm not buying that this thing was based on race, at least the stop. that's why i wish everybody would take a breath and look at the facts as opposed to go to the corners and making their own points. >> trace: that window come down because you have no idea what's going on behind that window if you are a police officer. thank you for your time. hours from now kamala harris and donald trump will appear on the presidential debate stage. who do you think has a bigger hill to climb to convince voters that they are the man for the job, the woman for the job. nightcap is next.
