♪ >> former president trump wrapping up a swing through some west coast states appearing to leave the door open to another debate with vice-president kamala harris when asked by fox news. this as harris held a rally in pennsylvania last night as the campaign launches new tv ads focusing on the economy. i'm jacqui heinrich. griff: jacqui, welcome. and we have a busy day indeed. harris sitting since becoming nominee, and she's been criticized by the economic plan. mark meredith has the latest. >> griff, good morning to you, former president trump said repeatedly he's not interested in another debate with vice-president harris even if the public wants to see it happen because we saw more than 67 million people tune in for that debate earlier in the week. trump critics and even some of his staunchest supporters were
9:02 am
surprised at trump's debate performance. one republican senator calling it a missed opportunity. last night at his rally here in las vegas, trump accused abc by boosting her fact checking her. >> i said that crime was going up massively. i didn't want to go into the details, crime was up, and david muir, another one that didn't have a clue, and his hair was much better five years ago. >> the harris campaign says it would participate in a debate and raised $47 million since the debate performance, but harris herself said the event was lackluster. >> it was the same old show. the same tired playbook we've heard for years, with no plan, no plan on how he would address
9:03 am
the needs of the american people. well, folks, it's time to turn the page. >> meantime, the trump campaign facing growing questions about a woman who has been showing up a lot around the former president and that's conservative activist laura loomer. she's been called a fringe conspiracy theorist because she called 9/11 an inside job, but trump says he wants to keep her around. he posted on truth social, she want work for the campaign she's a private citizen and like millions of people who support me she's tired of watching the left marxists and fascists continually smear me. we'll see if loomer continues on the trail and he will be in battle ground states making stops in north carolina and michigan. griff: and we will be watching. mark meredith kicking things off for us in vegas. thank you. jacqui: for more on trump's campaign following the debate.
9:04 am
let's bring in press secretary caroline levitt. great to see you. >> thanks for having me. >> great to see you. the former president he might into the debate harris again. she's been out on the campaign trail sort of ribbing him for what he left unsaid during the debate including on the health care plan. wouldn't it benefit trump to redeem himself? he could agree to a fox debate and box her in. >> as you know, earlier in the campaign cycle president trump agreed on a fox debate and president trump was able to take questions from voters and that's the most important audience. and according to voters, president trump won the debate. and six in 10 from reuters leaning to trump and new york times said while the mainstream media may say kamala did a better job, voters disagreed.
9:05 am
they say that he has a real plan on the issues that matter to them. the economy, the open borders and the war that's broken out over harris' leadership and failing. if you have all of these new policies, why haven't you impli implemented them over the past four years, and voters know, and president trump is the only person that can fix them. jacqui: the voters do want to hear about his plans and his closing argument got, 17.6 million views on tik tok the day after the debate. it's now up to 24.6 million. harris' got 4.7 million, but we still have not heard him articulate the specifics on the health care plan and you know, instead, our social media feeds have been inundated with remixes of his comments about this fringe claim that haitian immigrants are eating pets in
9:06 am
ohio. that was evidently brought to his attention by this figure, laura loomer, who has promoted this theory and's been hanging around with her. how close is trump to laura loomer and why is he bringing her around with him. >> as president biden said yesterday, this individual doesn't work for the campaign and he doesn't agree with everything that she says, or all of his supporter. it's a big tent movement, tulsi gabbard and robert kennedy, and she's a radical liberal and i'm glad you brought up health care, jacqui, i'd like to the audience to know where kamala harris stands, she supports bernie sanders socialist medicare for all, costing taxpayers, $32 trillion and kamala harris wants to give
9:07 am
amnesty to the nearly 20 million illegal people she's allowed in the country which will devastate and crumble our health care system and make the taxpayer fund transgender surgery for illegal immigrants. the american people will make that clear. jacqui: we did hear the former president try to distance himself from laura loomer, but he didn't denounce any specific statements she is made and she once auld 9/11 an inside job and he brought her to a 9/11 remembrance ceremony. he said-- she said if harris wins the election, the white house will smell like curry. that's a racist joke about harris' indian heritage. j.d. vance's wife is indian. does he denounce those statements specifically? >> president trump denounced the statements yesterday when he said he does not agree with all of the comments that this individual has made. president trump went to the 9/11 ceremony to honor those lives that have been taken from us on that fateful day, to
9:08 am
honor their families, he showed up to a fire station in shanksville, pennsylvania and was greeted with enormous applause, by the way, by the family members of those firefighters who were lost on 9/11, while kamala harris was not given the same reception. and so, again, americans understand where president trump stands on the issues. they know that he is the best candidate in this election and i think it's pit that the media is constantly asking questions like this of president trump, but not asking kamala harris. maybe vladimir putin who recently endorsed kamala harris for president, does she agree with him. does kamala harris agree with her own running mate tim walz putting tampons in the bathrooms and she needs to be asking about the ridiculous standard. jacqui: if it's a ridiculous standards, there's members of the republican party voicing concerns about her presence on the campaign, lindsey graham,
9:09 am
thom tillis, congresswoman marjorie taylor greene. should we expect, given what you told me we won't see any more of laura loomer on the campaign trail with president trump? >> look, as i said repeatedly now, president trump does not agree with all of the statements made by this individual. president trump has been building the most diverse political movement this country has ever seen. he has unified the republican party and the great thing about republicans, jacqui, is that we can share when we disagree with one another, but we still understand the bigger picture, and that we cannot afford to have kamala harris be president of the united states. unlike the democrats who try to sensor and silence anyone who disagrees with them as evidenced by big tech censorship. and also evidenced by the lawsuits against rfk, jr. trying to keep him off the ballot and their tempts to keep president trump off the ballot and waging politically against
9:10 am
him. we understand there's a country to save. kamala harris is dangerous liberal and should not be a president of the united states. >> is that a no that laura loomer will not be travelling? >> i'll leave that up to him, and she's not a member of the campaign and one of the times that kamala harris' surrogates is on her, if kamala harris agrees with everything that all of her supporters ever said. >> we do pose those west. i sit in front of the white house every day and ask questions like that. >> i hope so. >> thank you for your time, appreciate it. >> thanks. >> we had about 15,000 or so immigrants move to my town of 60,000. now, you might say, well, that's a lot of people for a town that only had 60,000
9:11 am
before, that's 25% increase. that is correct. so, you might imagine there are some challenges with, you know, integrating a new population, new language, new culture, new dietary preferences, all kind of reasons why there might be growing pains, but the bottom line is, these people came to springfield because there were jobs for them and they were willing to work and they wanted to live the american dream. griff: that's singer john legend weighing in on his hometown of springfield, ohio where an influx of haitian immigrants has become a political flash point. let' bring in the attorney for the state of ohio, dave yost, thank you for taking time and as john legend pointed out there, it is nearly a third of
9:12 am
the population has now come to this tiny town. in fact, we can show you the numbers. it's 15 to 20,000 haitians in the past four years have come to this town of 58,000. that's quite a significant number. let me start, dave, with asking you what has been the impact of this influx on springfield? >> well, you know, the people in springfield are good-hearted people. they're not mean. they try to help folks that need a helping hand. there's not a town in the country that can absorb a quarter to a third of its own population that doesn't speak english, is coming here for the first time. the systems there are breaking. for example, there was 150 or so students that were haitians last year. this year it's over 500. there's 4,000-- more than 4,000 haitians that are receiving public
9:13 am
assistance, which is partly paid for by the state government. everybody's got a stake in this. this isn't about who, it's about how many. griff: yeah, dave, in fact, i've covered extensively on this network, the chb program, the controversial legal pathway to bring haitians, cubans, n nicn nicka dpchlt ua. and they've come into the country since january of last years, and i understand that you're looking at a possible lawsuit, looking at legal path ways to see just how far -- as far as the power goes. tell me about that. >> let's talk about an absurd extension. if the federal government has no limits on its power, could they, for example, resettling
9:14 am
all 10 or 12 million people that have come in in the last four years into america in ohio? that would double our population, there's no way that the state and its towns could absorb that. we have problem with housing crisis and health care access. what is the limits and what can they do to a member state without the state's consent? these are important questions and we're looking for a way to get this in front of a federal judge. taking a look right now at the authorizing statute, and the rules that run this program, the governance program and to see whether that's within proper legal bounds. do you anticipate you'll bring legal action? >> we're looking. i can't give you an estimate just yet, the creative and
9:15 am
nearly impossible take a little bit of time. griff: is springfield or the state of ohio receiving any federal money to support the resettlement of this population? >> well, sure, there's some federal money. obviously, the federal government pays for part of medicaid. there's federal money for snap and such. so, it's not that there's no money, but there certainly is not any close to the resources that you need to provide housing for 20,000 people. what town of 60,000 could find housing for 20,000 people almost overnight? you just can't do it and across the country, we are already having this debate about affordable housing, this is is
9:16 am
exacerbating it. griff: the residents in springfield are starting to talk out about the toll on them. and this is one who spoke out to jesse water. >> the food banks are getting stripped and the budget was decimated. what we are is a city that only wants our safety, security and sovereignty back. griff: have you spoken to the mayor or any local leaders there? are they on the same page with understanding just how taxed the residents are feeling? >> they very much are. look, i was out there as early as june and was hearing about this from the mayor and i've talked with police officials, the county sheriff, the county sheriff elect. i've heard from a lot of folks, but they're also concerned that this whole national debate and particularly, the attempt by the left wing media to try to
9:17 am
shut down this debate, is putting their town in a bad light and i don't blame them. this is a great heartland town in america, a strong history. they're good people. they're good-hearted people, but it illustrates what is wrong with the current administration policy on immigration. they don't manage it, they don't communicate, they don't support it. and they just let people come out and we see the results of it here in springfield. here is the thing, this could happen to any city in america. this could happen to your town. griff: and lastly, before you run out of time, two schools received bomb threats and were closed on friday. >> yeah. let me be really clear. that's a serious second degree felony in ohio to do a bomb threat for a school. we also have reports this
9:18 am
morning there were bomb threats at medical facilities here on saturday. knock it off. bomb threats are not part of political discourse. they're not free speech. it's a crime and the police are going to take it seriously and i know the local authorities will take those cases to court. >> mr. attorney general, thank you for your time. we appreciate it. please keep us posted and updated on whether or not any legal action will be forth coming. >> you bet. >> thank you, sir. jacqui. >> well, griff, president biden will return to the white house this afternoon from delaware, this following the administration's announcement that 14 isis operatives were killed during a joint raid with iraqi forces. lucas tomlinson is live with more on this. >> good afternoon, that raid was led by american soldiers from the elite 75th ranger regiment and despite the white house approving it, it's notable what vice-president kamala harris said during the debate. >> as of today there's not one
9:19 am
member of the united states military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world. the first time this century. >> now, it's not just the rangers getting after it. jacqui, for months the u.s.s. dwight d. eisenhower carried out air strikes against the army in yemen, combat the navy says they've not seen since world war ii. when ike returned to norfolk in july. the final tally, 155 surface to air missiles fired from the cruisers and destories, and 135 tomahawk missiles launched from the war ships. and air to air missiles and dropped 420 bombs. last night the u.s. military central command responsible for the middle east, the american force killed operatives.
9:20 am
and for the first time, president biden did not say whether he would approve long range strikes using american british missiles? >> what do you say to vladimir putin, mr. president. >> i don't think much about vladimir putin. >> mr. president-- >> and later talking to reporters, white house national security spokesman john kirby said no final decision has been made yet. >> lucas tomlinson for us at the white house. griff. >> jacqui, fox news cameras embedded with israeli defense forces, capturing exclusive video from inside gaza. that's next. s. but i'm protected with arexvy. arexvy is a vaccine used to prevent lower respiratory disease from rsv in people 60 years and older. rsv can be serious for those over 60,

including a look at the tunnel shaft where six hostages were found dead earlier this month. this, as we're getting new reports of more idf operations in the city. nate foy is tracking it from tel aviv. hey, nate. >> hey, griff. so today in central gaza, israeli air strikes killed at least 14 people. the idf says they targeted hamas weapons manufacturing facilities. that was in gaza city. but farther south in rafah, where we were embedded with the idf yesterday we saw nothing, but destruction. the city is evacuated, but the idf haven't seen a civilian in a month and the only one identified was terrorists, and take a look at our ride along yesterday. and we started in the phila

phila phila philadelphiay corridor. and here is some of what we saw yesterday. >> the underground tunnel network in rafah is among the most extensive in all of gaza according to the idf. since invading in may, at the philadelphi corridor behind me, this leads into egypt. this is one of them. the idf says hamas used tunnels like that for smuggling and firing long range rockets, believing that israel wouldn't return fire because of how close it is to the egyptian border. north of the corridor, and deeper into rafah, we saw the tunnel shaft where israeli forces entered two weeks ago and found six hostages murdered by hamas terrorists. you mentioned that included american-israeli hersh goldberg-polin. and here is the guard what they found inside the tunnel. they were executed this tunnel,

appearing to slam both candidates by urging catholic voters to quote, choose the lesser evil. fox news chief religion correspondent lauren green has more on this. >> as a rule popes don't weigh in on elections and yesterday the appropriate slammed both candidates and told the catholics to do soul searching before casting their ballot. and the pope spoke on the papal plane, which they have you had support, one who supports abortion, or one who closes border. the pope says both candidates oppose life. >> you must choose who is the lesser evil, that lady or that gentleman. both are against life, weather it's the one chasing away migrants or the one that kills children. both are against life. >> well, number one on trump's

fox power rankings forecast with 241 electoral college votes in the harris column, 219 for the trump. now, these six states, you see here, pennsylvania, north carolina, georgia, wisconsin, arizona and nevada, we have as a tossup. they are likely going to make the difference, one interesting one though, that is michigan. which was the seventh swing state. that one trending has moved from tossup to lean democrat. now, history suggests that most of the background swing states are going to move together on election night. i'll get to that in a moment, but that's why it makes this election anybody's game. now, this is something, jacqui, that we're watching. and that is north carolina and georgia moved from lean republican, meaning for trump, to tossups, that's a real battle that's going to happen
9:35 am
here. now, let me just clear that and go here. so add those six states up. that's a total of 78 electoral votes. now, we told you, harris has 241, to trump's 219. you can see, obviously, pennsylvania, a very big purse to get there. but you take georgia and north carolina, and that's 32. that would greatly impact that as you layout the different combinations of ways to get there and we can see from that, that clearly pennsylvania is yet again a huge, important prize, but whether or not trump can bounce back and try and get his advantage that he certainly had when biden was a candidate as opposed to now harris in georgia and north carolina, that could really even this map up a little bit. now, lastly, i just want to show you, i mentioned history shows us that these battle
9:36 am
ground states will often move together. you can see here in 2016, arizona, georgia, michigan, pennsylvania, north carolina, all going for trump, but obviously, in 2020, you saw that same battle ground states move, except for north carolina, which stayed red, moved in the democrat direction. that's really going to be a big part, jacqui, of what happens in 52 days as they battle it out. jacqui. jacqui: all right, griff. thank you. for more, let's bring in our political panel, with us today is republican strategist lance trove r and fowler. >> the vice-president was soefg a lot of praise after the debate after what many viewed as a successful performance. there was also gaping holes on
9:37 am
the specifics of her policy. what she would do about the economy, and she had a week to digest that and last night she had the first solo interview and faced the same questions as the debate and here is how it went. >> talking about bringing down prices and making life more affordable for people. what are one or two specific things that you have in mind for that. >> i'll start with this, i grew up a middle class kid, my mother raised my sister and me, she worked very hard and finally able to save up money to buy our first house when i was a teenager. >> do you believe americans are better off than they were four years ago? >> so, i was raised as a middle class kid. >> how does something like that happen? she did eventually, to be fair, get to the details on the child tax credit and on small businesses, how she would help them. but you had a poll this week, 31% of registered voters, 28% of likely voters want to learn
9:38 am
more. if you don't get to the right off the bat what do they take away from that. >> i think that's a fair critique of the vice-president. i think what's clear, the vice-president is understanding that she's had a very, very short campaign cycle and donald trump running for 700, almost 800 days and the vice-president less than three or four weeks. she's trying to introduce herself to the american people and the policy planks if she's elected. one of the those you mentioned early childhood tax credit and first time home buyers. i think she needs to give more details and before election day she'll put out more. i understand the critique around the idea we want to hear the policy details and i think the campaign is trying to balance that with people want to know more about her and she's trying to do that in the answer. jacqui: what do you think, lance? she did seem nervous at times. >> and for both candidates,
9:39 am
donald trump did not do what he needed to do in order to define her. she didn't do what she needed to do, to define herself. and neither one of those accomplished that on tuesday night, so it's a race, and i'm guessing the first one who is able to define kamala harris is going to be the winner the end of the day. >> jacqui, i want to make a point, i think what we saw on tuesday was donald trump define himself and the case springfield, ohio when he brought out the sort of conspiracy theory, temporary status for haitians, who have the right to be here, who are legal residents and accuse them of eating cats and dogs, there was no evidence of that and now causing violence in their community. this is who he is. it's not the first time we've seen him peddle the conspiracy series and voters say, maybe he's not our candidate. and when griff showed the rankings, you see states moving
9:40 am
to kamala harris. >> that may be true, she spent all of her time goading the president and then not-- >> you can only be goaded if you're being goaded. jacqui: there's a reason why you show that undecided voters need to know more of her policies and last night she had an opportunity to do it and the criticism or feedback, she didn't do it soon enough or in much depth. and let's move on to another topic, fund raising is an advantage for harris right now. why do you think it is in august president trump pulled in $130 million, harris her campaign raised $361. they've got a significant cash on hand advantage now on the democratic side. why is that? what's going on? >> look, when it comes to the presidential race, at some point, i don't think the amount of cash you have matters. if anything, the amount of cash she has is able to go toward senate races and house races. we've seen her pushing money
9:41 am
that way. at this point with the earned media and the way that donald trump is able to own the earned media out there i'm less concerned about the cash on hand advantage. would it be nice to have the cash, but at some point you reach saturation and not as much of a big deal. jacqui: and i want to mrak sure tal talking-- make sure that we talk about the plans that the former president put out, a sound bite. >> no tax on social security and then we wield out a great one and i actually think this is going to be fantastic for the country as well as the worker because a lot of people are going to be working overtime. and just yesterday i announced there will be no taxes on overt overtime. >> richard, there has been criticism from the trump campaign that vice-president harris has co-opted some of the
9:42 am
most popular plans from the former president. your reaction to that? is he going to do this one, too? >> fair enough. i think my mom was a registered nurse, she made a lot of overtime and probably the reason why i'm sitting at this desk so i believe a lot of workers who would benefit and find it to be popular. i do also believe that the devil will be in the details here. how do you get to done? what does the legislation say? and how do you get this through the american congress. we've had years of donald trump where he made a lot of the bold and bombastic promises and what we saw many of these did not make it through the house, did not make it through the senate. he said he would repeal and replace obamacare and did neither because they didn't get through the senate or the house of representatives and the biggest one for the trump campaign. you can throw out a one-liner and can you get it through the mechanics. jacqui: in a lot of the swing states, the economy is the top voter issue. and his plans have been experienced by people before and there's a reason why people
9:43 am
think back to four years ago and have an answer that the vice-president doesn't want to take on directly in the debate, but their memories of the economy then are positive. >> no question about it. no question about it. if you look at any poll out there, their memories of donald trump being president certainly when it comes to the cost of living and the economy far surpass what they've been over the course of the last three years. that's a fact. at least he's laying out plans and we talked about the interview, the interview with the local media outlet, i'm an advocate for her doing media interview. she talked about people being proud of their lines when she lived in san francisco. and that's what a lot of voters are saying, what's going on here? they know the policies of donald trump and he's putting forward new ideas out there. they want to hear ideas about lowering the cost of living and get the economy roaring again. jacqui: one last point. chris coons says it's a
9:44 am
difficult questions for the campaign to answer are you better off than were you four years ago. because americans don't associate the period of the pandemic with trump. how do you-- >> i think senator coons is right. the last year of donald trump was not his greatest year and we saw a lot of missteps, mishaps. i think what the harris campaign can bank on in this moment is that when they've seen and what they're beginning to see, we'll see the economy move the right direction, inflation decrease, likely next month the fed will cut rates and a lot of it has to do with the steady hand of joe biden. as we speak, so many senior citizens are benefitting from $35 insulin that they didn't see during the trump administration. she needs to talk more, and more americans want to own homes and-- >> i don't know if the lawn line is going to work. i don't know any strategist would say she should try that again. thank you. griff. griff: good conversation.
