"fox & friends" starts right now. >> steve: all right. as you look at live pictures straight to a fox news alert. right now the idf is carrying out extensive strikes against hezbollah targets inside the country of lebanon after the iranian backed terror group hezbollah launched more than a hundred rockets into israel overnight. >> ainsley: israel's president says they are not seeking war but will continue to defend themselves. >> lawrence: nate foy is live in tel aviv with the latest. nate, what can you tell us? >> hey, guys, good morning. so massive airstrikes as you just saw with the live picture, happening in southern lebanon now for a fourth straight day. just minutes ago. the idf shared that so far today they have hit 300 hezbollah terrorist sites. we have new video of some areas of southern lebanon getting pounded this morning. take a look.

because of this, as ainsley mentioned, israel is putting out messages in arabic, telling people to evacuated, particularly in southern lebanon. an israeli military official tells fox today that israel is focused on an aerial campaign only. israel deployed 150 fighter jets over the weekend. the idf also released this video this morning. take a look. israeli fighter jet pilots noticed a cruise missile about be to fired from a home in southern lebanon. they took out the terrorist before they could fire it. the idf says dr 3 cruise missile with 660-pound war head attached to it. the range on that missile was 124 miles. capable of reaching several areas in israel. the idf says in the past 24 hours, hezbollah has fired 150 times on israel. you see a direct hit in this next video from northern israel. a lot of damage here as a result of that. this morning israel's it's eye zig herzog i repeat and

retaliation of hezbollah. we decided that's it. we are not willing to wait anymore. we are going to strike and attack hezbollah as it's needed because we are committed to a return our 70,000 civilians who were evacuated on october 8th since hezbollah decide a tack our civilians. since then launched thousands of missiles. yeah, the idf will continue to strike and target hezbollah commanders and hezbollah operative will comply with resolution 9701. they shouldn't be neither border threatening our civilians in northern communities. >> ainsley: mr. ambassador, we get it. you have to defend yourself. the holy land has been facing security threats daily.

so, we have to send a clear message. you're not going to get a free pass by using your civilians. the world like any others demand democracy. committed to safeguarding and protecting our civil yaps. we expect the american administration and all the free world to stand with us. against iran and iranian proxies. if as a result failed to win this war. this is definitely going to inspire in support of hamas hamas. in support of hezbollah. just imagine if we failed to eradicate them, what will -- what you saw and suffered on september 11th might happen again.

former president trump and vice president harris are back on the campaign trail this week as new polls out this morning show that trump is leading harris in key sun belt states. >> lawrence: madeleine rivera is live in washington. hey, maddy. >> madeleine: good morning. new national ms nbc shows how ve president reslustled the campaign. leading former president trump 49 to 44% among registered voters. trump was aheads 2 points in july before president biden left the race. a "new york times"-siena college poll this morning shows former president trump leading in arizona, georgia, and north carolina, showing this is still anyone's game. trump stops harris 50 to 45% in arizona. 49 to 45% in georgia and 49 it 47% in north carolina. that is an issue for harris hitting blue wall and sun belt states this week. a schedule her campaign says reflects a different future 270 electric doral votes. per the "new york times" poll,

voters say trump improved their lives when he was president. and one of his biggest strengths is on the economy. that nbc poll shows he leads harris 48 to 40% when it comes to dealing with inflation and the living. and this still ranks as the most important issue for voters. undecided voters say they want to hear more policy specifics from harris so in just a few days, she will be rolling out new economic policies. >> i'm going to be giving a speech this week that is really to outline my of the economy. you heard me talk about i believe in what we can create in terms of opportunities for the american people, an opportunity economy. >> harris has a new endorsement from the national treasury employee's union. the organization represents employees from different federal departments and agencies, including the irs. meantime, former president trump is heading to pennsylvania, georgia, and michigan this week. he has also got a new

endorsement from the mayor of ham tran nic, michigan. a democrat and represents one of the biggest muslim communities in wayne can endorsement comes days after trump met with him as they try to court american arab voters. this leadership on the hamas war. >> steve: thank you very much a very thorough report. the one she talked about that is of the most interest to us right now is one that came out just an hour ago from the "new york times," siena college. and it shows that essentially the sun belt swing states have actually swung toward the former president. right now we have got a graphic, the former president is ahead in arizona by 5. in georgia by 4. and in north carolina by 2. what is interesting is about 15% of the people in these states are either undecided now or definitely not decided. and they could change their minds in particular in arizona

what is very curious and this goes to show you the fluid nature of the race. in august, kamala harris was ahead in arizona by 5. now donald trump is ahead by 5. and they say that probably one of the key factors is latino voters. they moved away from kamala harris in the last month. 10% of the latino voters in arizona now say they are undecided. it's anybody's race. >> lawrence: part of it is also immigration stances. and there's this. >> maybe. >> >> lawrence: memo releasing policy. people are voting. why are you still releasing information on where you distant as a candidate? >> steve: we need to know what she stands for. >> lawrence: have already state-of-the-arted to cast their vote. seems unacceptable. >> ainsley: kamala asked what are your policies. need to know more about economic policies. in a speech i'm going to release my economic policies or more of them. and independents are say would he go need to know what you

stand for before we go and vote. voting has already started in some of these states. that's the debate within the democratic party. should we roll more out? we'll be criticized for not rolling these out earlier. i think she is still planning on doing that her campaign won't fell us what they're. i have also heard all these experts on our show say if donald trump can win north carolina and can win georgia, then he won't have to win by as much in the other swing states. those two states are key for him. >> steve: pointed out the nbc fox news cbs poll. they all show trump ahead nationally. but, as we show you the battleground states. the whole point is just to show you it is so close. it is going to come right down to the wire. of course, in the commonwealth of pennsylvania, big issue with some people is fracking. and the current senator, john fetterman, you know, in 2018 he said he did not support fracking at all. in 2016 he said fracking was a

stain on pennsylvania. then in 2022 he said he supported fracking. he has been all over the place. yesterday on meet the press he was asked about not just his stance, but kamala harris' stance on fracking because she, too, has been flip-flopping. watch. >> vice president harris, as you know, once supported a ban on fracking when she was running for president in 2020. she even sued the obama administration to prevent fracking off california's coast. now she says she will not ban the practice as president. why should voters trust that that is really what the vice president believes? >> so strange why we just keep talking about fracking. back in 2020 i said that that might be an issue, but it's not going to be a defining issue. and now in 2024 we are still trying to talk about fracking. it's going to be very close in pennsylvania and it's not going to be defined by fracking. >> ainsley: why we are still

talking about it because it effects so many people in that stated with jobs, with money being poured back into the state. money being poured into other states. we rely on them. you went last week set. insisting that frac something not an important issue. but, when you went out to talk to the men who were actually doing the fracking, they had a different story. >> lawrence: just made it very clear. here they are. >> so there is a not a whole lot in the world right now that doesn't rely on petroleum, okay? everything that we are wearing, our glasses, plastics, all that aside from y trucking and fuel d all those other things that people think about on the general keep. but, you know, there is tens of thousands of us. probably more than that we will all be standing in a bread line because if you shut the-field down like all my eggs are in this basket and i know lots of guys all their eggs are in the oilfield. >> lawrence: if kamala harris is the next president she once had a position against fracking now she says she is okay with fracking. do you believe her, a?

and what do you think a presidency would be like under her? >> i don't believe that we have seen waffling effect. you know, the contradictions there. we're obviously paying very close attention to that, you know. the sentiment around this whole region is nobody believes that. >> lawrence: i guess the last thing i would say on this clearly the issue matters to voters there. this is why the politicians in the state, including john fetterman has changed his position on it. this is why kamala harris is changing her position on it. the pill of john fetterman progressive guy but changed his position but let people know why. these why people believe him he has been outspoken to israel's war. he has talked about a lot of the evolution of his life. kamala harris hasn't done that for him to just try to sweep it under the rug he as if well, i did the same thing. but, senator, you explained why. it was important for your state. you changed your position and you gave people the nuts and bolts of it. kamala harris hasn't done that. >> ainsley: i think it would be insulting the man you talked to

the question there, ainsley, did he go far enough to qualify what we call an attempt. you're right. they did a really good job. they stopped it before he could pull the trigger. did he do enough to trigger that provision? i think he did. there is also the possibility of a 115 charge, an attempt to kill a former federal officer that could bring that say he was targeted for prior federal service. also the possibility of a terrorism related charge. the department of justice has been very broad in defining that all of that is going to be piled up. we expect there will be more charges and likely looking at least one with a life potential sentence this is what the florida attorney general says expecting more charges. listen. >> at this point, the federal government has charged two gun crimes related to the suspect

and the charges that followed and his detention. obviously, as we all know, this person was lying in wait to secretary president trump. and we believe the evidence will show that and so a more serious charge carry with it a lot more weight than these two gun charges will be forthcoming. >> ainsley: do you agree with ashley moody? does it come down to intent? he had the gun, the scope, the backpacks. he was ready. >> i think it does. the justice department tends to hold back we'll be getting in the next few days insight in what they have. they are probably building that conspiracy case. they don't want to go forward until they are ready to do it. they have got him. it's very unlikely that any judge is going to release this guy. florida brings attempted murder charges. those are probably going to take a backseat to the federal charges. they may prove redundant. he may get multiple life

sentences. it doesn't mean they shouldn't bring the charge or that they won't. i expect the department of justice right now has a number of things in the pipeline going to radically increase the potential sentence for this guy. and i think that he is, at this point, the odds are in favor of his never getting out of prison. because i doubt the judge is going to release him on bail. >> ainsley: jonathan, we don't even know what the evidence they have against him. he could have written -- i don't know if he wrote this on social media that i want to kill the president. i know that nurse spoke to served with him in ukraine and said he wanted to kill everyone. we don't know what he said on chats online or what he has written in emails. what if he said this is my intent? >> >> oh then you have got what you need for attempt under section 351. this guy's record is that he was not exactly subtle. he seems to have gone to everyone to say i'm a locomotion of destruction. i'm going to kill this person or that person. we can expect that pattern to continue.
