>> all right. israel, to put it mildly, in a state of high alert right now. you're looking at the live shot of the roof. there have been targets, better than 100 over the last roughly 24 years, that left nasrallah dead and he and a number of accomplices were taken out in this attack, that makes nine top hezbollah leaders taken out in various air strikes over the last couple of weeks right now, but, again, this latest strike are, we're learning that it's targeting the likes of tel aviv and elsewhere and igniting the sirens that have been going off. apparently, they're coming from yemen and would seem to indicate houthi rebels that are certainly using that as the base of operations on american and shipping interests from all over the world. nate foy is in tel aviv with the
8:02 am
latest on this. what can you tell us? >> hey, neil. moments ago, we heard an explosion here after sirens were blaring for a few minutes in tel aviv and the idf has come out saying it's a missile launched from yemen. as you accurately pointed out, it was fired by the houthi rebels, makes it two times in three days that the houthi rebels have fired a missile, two days ago it was-- or yesterday morning, actually, so two days in a row, it was a ballistic missile that the houthis launched here and we'll see exactly what kind of missile they launched today. what you're seeing right now on your screen is what killed hassan nasrallah. and we've been bracing for the response from hezbollah and iranian-backed proxies. this is one thing, benjamin
8:03 am
netanyahu is back after cutting his visit north short after speaking to the u.n. and the strike that killed nasrallah yesterday, it happened in the neighborhood and several leaders were killed in the blast and reportedly an irgc commander. nasrallah in the 1980's, took over the organization in 1992 and oversaw the integration into the lebanon system, and here is the idf spokesman talking about the strike that kill. >> nasrallah chose to join the war that hezbollah started and there are consequences for that decision.
8:04 am
. it's not just a threat to the state of lebanon, it's backed by the regime in iran. and there were several other large explosions last night. take a look at this next video, neil. they took out several weapons facilities in beirut last night and put out several messages in arabic telling people to evacuate beforehand. they couldn't do that with the nasrallah strike because they didn't want to tip him off, he would leave and they wanted to target him. and take a look at the next video as the air strikes continue as the aerial campaign and the pressure that israel is putting on its neighbor to the north continues. israel says it's hit 140 hezbollah targets so far today. back out here live, hezbollah's response immediately began last night, launching rockets across israel's northern border into haifa. this morning, iran, hezbollah,
8:05 am
put out statements that they are going to continue fighting israel, that nasrallah's death is going to em bolden them and strengthen them, and the second in tel aviv in two days. back to you. neil: so many proxies, so little time. nate foy, thank you so much. lieutenant general with us, the first deputy chief of staff for intelligence and reconnaissance. he knows of what he speaks. it's interesting, general, there is the cockroach theory on these perpetrators, one goes and another takes its place, and that's what israel has to look forward to and they're going after the cockroaches. where does it stand in your eyes? >> i think that taking out
8:06 am
nasrallah is the forces to decapitate his leadership into chaos and they'll keep doing that. part of the message and what you see unfolding is the complete penetration and understanding of the hezbollah organization and, yeah, if they need to continue to take out cockroaches, they'll continue to do so, but i think the capabilities that have been demonstrated plays directly into israel's strategy to create the conditions to get the nearly 70,000 israelis in northern israel to return to their homes. neil: you know, you mention the israelis, general, and already word has gone out for the entire country, i don't believe just limited to tel aviv or central israel, to stop large gatherings of more than a thousand people. so, that would effectively close theaters and that would be closing other large concert
8:07 am
gatherings and the like. so, israel's prepared for anything and everything, isn't it? >> well, it's a prudent measure. in conjunction with their missile defense system, and in anticipation of how iran, hezbollah and iran's other puppets, if you will, may respond. so once again, it's appropriate. now, with respect to concerns about possible escalation, neil, i wanted to offer that, you know, one of the things that people aren't talking about is the iranian leadership is on notice what might happen to them so i think that this event over the last, well, yesterday, with taking out the hezbollah leadership, as well as irc leadership may in fact have a deterrent effect on iranian direct access against israel because they understand the
8:08 am
consequence because of that. and israel just demonstrated how strong they are and iran is going to pay attention to that. neil: it's interesting, general, you mention how israel is handling this apparently on its own and not for the white house, and we know that secretary austin stressed the u.s. is determined to prevent iran and iranian-backed partners and proxies from exploiting the situation and expanding the conflict and emphasized that we were not part of the planning or didn't say it in so many words, had a heads-up on these attacks on israel's part. what did you make of that? >> well, i think, quite frankly, it's basic military operational prudence. clearly any kind of a leak could eliminate or prevent what the
8:09 am
israeli defense forces were able to do yesterday so it's simply a matter of achieving surprise and protecting all your moves in advance and i wouldn't chalk it up to anything other than that. neil: general, real quickly since i have you, no comments, scouring the press not only for yesterday's show and this weekend's show. no response from the moderate arab world and might have warned about israel expanding the war and may have more to do ignoring calls for a cease-fire. we forget that some of the countries, such as saudi arabia had issues with iran and might welcome this. >> i think you put your finger on it, neil. exactly right. iran is absolutely a critical
8:10 am
adversary of the gcc states and they are more than happy to see israel accomplish the objectives that it has and to deter iran and put it into its place. now, neil, one more thing before -- i know you've got to go, but let me also offer that recent idf successes demonstrate the importance of having both a strong air force, as well as an effective missile defense system and options for nation's security. unfortunately, the united states air force has been allowed to at atrophy that we have the smallest in history and unable to meet our own strategies. reversing this situation has got to be a priority of the next administration regardlets of who gets elected. neil: general, wise words all. you get tired of hearing this,
8:11 am
not only thank you for joining us, but thank you for your incredible service to this country. you're very modest about this. if it were me i'd be crowing about it all the time. thank you again, very good seeing you. >> have a great day. neil: you, too, general. just a let you know, the wild card in all of this could be maybe the first evidence today of the role of houthi rebels and the strike that's apparently coming from yemen to target israeli positions. now, there's been a white house-led effort for quite some time to protect shipping interest in the region from these houthi rebel attacks that have taken on a number of ships. and next to driving commerce there next to nothing. we've got an armada there. where and how has it failed us so. the reaction from the white house and our lucas tomlinson after this. e right team. cj stroud putting up points with mylowe's rewards. he is really cleaning up.

we really don't want people to think of feeding food like ours is spoiling their dogs. good, real food is simple. it looks like food, it smells like food, it's what dogs are supposed to be eating. no living being should ever eat processed food for every single meal of their life. it's amazing to me how many people write in about their dogs changing for the better. the farmer's dog is just our way to help people take care of them. ♪ >> all right. we've got updated figures just a
8:15 am
few minutes ago of the updated attacks in and around beirut. i believe they're up to north of 150 of them. this is tel aviv right now where a lot of folks are being told to take shelter on word that there are missiles coming from yemen. that would be a houthi stronghold. in case you're marvelling at the various proxies that have no fine interest in israel surviving any of this. the fact of the matter is, we have built up a very big presence in that neighborhood, the u.s. has kept an increased presence in the middle east and increased that to 40,000 forces and at least a dozen war ships. we've got four air force fighten jet squadrons spread across the region, both to serve allies and deter there. and the latest hezbollah attacks put them on even higher alert, i should stress particularly when it comes to this armada that we've built in that neck of the woods, it's done very with little to stave off houthi rebel
8:16 am
attacks on u.s. and other shipping interests from around the world. it's virtually impossible to do commerce in that neck of the world at least on the high seas. we've got lucas tomlinson at the white house and they're monitoring closely. what can you tell us? >> that's right, neil, those attacks by iran's proxy forces in yemen carried out another attack, this time on war ships. we can go around the horn in the middle east. the lincoln strike group is now on station and those two guided missile destories, u.s.s. stockdale and u.s.s. spruance, and they're at the strait and came under missile and drone attack, neil. nearly two dozen were launched at the american war ships. thankfully, all the missiles were shot down and the prowess that the u.s. military has when this comes to missile defense. last night i was speaking over text to a retired u.s. navy
8:17 am
admiral who used to run that organization and the missile defense, admiral who told me this outcome is now expected. u.s. warship shooting down incoming missiles, but critics for years said missile defense will never work, calling it a fool's errand. it would be a much different conversation tonight had we not maintained our commitment to this mission. neil, so far, what's incredible, the pentagon and the white house have not commented on this attack on the american warships. just yesterday all attention on beirut and the decaptation strike as we heard from the general deptula by the israeli intelligence dropping 83 one-ton bombs on hezbollah headquarters killing most of hezbollah leadership that remained, as well as some iranian commanders we're now hearing reportedly. notable so far the white house and the pentagon have not issued any public statements about this attack on american warships. of course, this has been
8:18 am
happening now almost routinely since october, since the october 7th attack, but neil, to put this in perspective, if a year ago we learned that american warships had come under a missile attack, that would have been huge news and as we heard earlier from congressman walz, 90% have left there. and go around africa and we're monitoring to see if there's any reaction from the brazen proxy groups. neil: well done, and well-reported. that costs a lot of money when you have to reroute cargo container ship, maersk and others, and even getting to that destination is tough even if you can find ways around that and the costs are passed along to folks who had stuff on the ship as well as those who received stuff from the ship. big, serious stuff.
8:19 am
in the meantime here, bringing you up-to-date not only on this latest expanded attack on beirut and taking out yet another terrorist big wig in the region, but how that could play into twin appearances on presidential candidates today, donald trump and kamala harris. we're on that after this.

>> i just want to let you know, it's probably not news because we've been reporting it this show, hezbollah has indeed confirmed that nasrallah is gone the leader of the terrorist group has been seen for the better part of 30 years is dead. he is joining the growing list of what hezbollah calls is long list of martyr so the leadership will battle against israel in support of gaza and palestine

and steadfast and honorable people, separately, chief of the israeli defense forces, might be heard as idf, saying this is not the end of our toolbox. the message is simple anyone who threatens israel, we will know how to reach them. now, how this sorts out on the political stump today on the part of both presidential candidates and the vice-presidential candidates is anyone's guess. and rich edson is where trump will be appearing later on today. >> good morning, neil. we're in the western part of wisconsin today. prairie du chien here along the mississippi river where president trump will talk in a couple of hours. and they'll double down on focus of late on immigration, and the president is going to highlight the case of a venezuelan migrant accused of assaulting a mother and her daughter. that he's a member of a

transnational gang and it was not a random attack and that the victims new the suspect. trump spoke yesterday-- thursday at trump tower in new york and ridiculed harris' visit to the border. last evening, heroes toured the border in douglas, arizona, and the bill that effectively ended any chance at passing and defended her approach to immigration. >> and let me be clear, i reject the false choice, i reject the false choice that suggests we must either choose between securing our border or creating a system of immigration that is safe, orderly, and humane. we can and we must do both. >> this speech originally here in prairie du chien was supposed

to be outside, but because of security concerns from the u.s. secret service they've actually moved it inside this gymnasium behind us here and people are lined up waiting to see this. we are in a swing state here, or wisconsin is a swing state, but this county, crawford county, one that the former president won, 53-45 over joe biden back in 2020. fewer than really 9,000 votes cast in this state, later on tonight, the former president heading down to tuscaloosa, alabama where he'll take in some college football, a great game there tonight, alabama and georgia. neil: do we know who he'll publicly be rooting for there? i guess we don't. thank you very much for that, rich edson, alabama, georgia all good teams. georgia is the battle ground state, that's the one you want. who knows. i do know ron johnson, ranking
8:26 am
member, i want to get into the former president's security, but i'd be remiss if i didn't follow up on some developments we're getting out of iran, sir, iran supreme commander says the fate of the middle east will be determined by resistance forces. the foremost of which is hezbollah. he said that the group's solid structure cannot be significantly damaged by what he calls zionist criminals determined by resistant forces, the foremost of which is hezbollah so he's not giving up and he's saying that the players may change, even die, but the battle goes on. what do you make of that and the threat? >> well, first of all, the threat is real. when you take out one of the leaders like nasrallah, the administration doesn't take that threat seriously enough to throttle back the desire to
8:27 am
defend itself. you could have peace in the middle east overnight. all it would take is for groups like hamas and the houthis and hezbollah to stop firing missiles into israel, recognize their right to exist, for iran to give up its desire to become a nuclear power, sanctions would be lifted you'd have peace in the middle east. that's not what's happening. so you have to take these people at their word, they want to destroy, eliminate israel, they chant death to america, and we can't let our ground down, we need to strengthen our country and unfortunately under biden and harris is weaken it and it's regretful. neil: on that point, defense secretary lloyd austin has apparently spoken now at least twice with the israeli defense minister and yet, we are separately told that the u.s.
8:28 am
was not, or more specifically, the white house was not given a heads-up about these coordinated attacks on the hezbollah compound. what do you make of that? >> well, i mean, it's a very sad fact that israel doesn't trust the united states under the leadership of president biden and vice-president harris. they just can't trust us, so they're not going to put at risk their military plans in case the united states may sabotage it. i think it's a very sad fact. people need to understand what's at stake in the november election. are we going to continue down this path of weakness, which emboldens our enemies and set the world on fire or are we going to strengthen this country again. neil: you mentioned donald trump and would this, would not have happened under his watch. there are some concerns expressed on ukraine in this crazy week of international conflicts, that he might not be so supportive of president zelenskyy there and might be more inclined to find a quick
8:29 am
resolution that would have ukraine accepting russian land gains as part of that accord. now, he didn't say that, but he is a transactional pretty savvy business guy. obviously, president zelenskyy did sound a little concerned. what do you make of that? >> well, need perspective on ukraine. the only one from the congress with zelenskyy inauguration and went back with senator murphy. at that time president zelenskyy wanted to do a peace deal with russia. he knew he couldn't get them, dislodge them from crimea or eastern ukraine and realistic about it and wouldn't be popular in ukraine. this was obviously before russia invaded ukraine, but, again, the things have changed. president trump is concerned about the ukrainian people. every day that goes by, where you don't have a settlement -- by the way, vladimir putin is not going to lose this war. the only way it ends is a settlement. i'm not going to like the settlement, but every day that goes by more ukrainians die and
8:30 am
russian conscripts die, and more of ukraine is destroyed. we need to have this war to end. and i don't know why they blew up the peace talks that were going on in istanbul and sent boris johnson to disrupt that. this war should have ended years ago, never should have started and it has to end. neil: you don't buy the argument, give the russians an inch, they'll take a mile and give them more land they'll be back eventually back in there getting still more land. >> first of all, i think that vladimir putin understands, he couldn't conquer ukraine. he thought he might be able to, especially with biden in the white house. i don't think he's going to want to take on n.a.t.o. we certainly have not allowed ukraine to utilize the full armaments of n.a.t.o. again, we don't want a nuclear war with russia. so this is very dangerous. we need to end the danger by
8:31 am
ending the war. neil: all right. senator. great catching up with you, ron johnson, the beautiful state of wisconsin. a couple of things we are still following, of course, is the latest is on this now apparent missile coming via houthi rebels in yemen and assume houthi rebels because that's their neck of the woods. more on that after this. chart. what makes you think i can read? you can talk... and you booked an eye exam online. okay... um. good points. top line? this is a quality, comprehensive exam. ...come again? you asked me to topline it for you. okay. bottom line? well the bottom line is, this is an amazing value. what? get two pairs and an eye exam for $79.95 at america's best, because eye care is healthcare and you deserve the best.

>> all right. the death of hassan nasrallah maybe big news here, but you'll hear politicians say it's the economy stupid. and for mark cuban, it's not donald trump, the businessman, it's kamala harris. he outlined his reasons he's backing her and not donald trump. >> well, first of all, if a country is trying to dump in the united states and we have a manufacturing an and tariff, across the board tariffs, 10, 20% is inflationary, it's a tax on the american consumer. but to make matters worse, what's truly insane when you threaten a legendary company like john deere with a 200% tariff if they move only 10, 20% tariff on china, you're making it easier for the chinese competitors to take business away from john deere, that's the
8:36 am
definition of insane. neil: a lot of your colleagues say the definition of insane is supporting kamala harris. you're a smart, savvy bus busin businessman. what do you see in her that you don't see in donald trump? >> i think she's thorough. when you look at his policies, they're impetuous, set to match what's happening at a rally. with the harris campaign and kamala herself. she's very thorough and her team vets every. you can trust what she says. think about what happens when donald comes out and says i'm going to put a 10% cap on credit card interest rates. the next thing that happens isn't that he explains why. it's that everybody around him explains what he says. he can't explain it for himself. everybody's got to explain for him. whether it's a 10 or 20, or 60% tariff. or the 200% on john deere. with kamala harris, no one has
8:37 am
to explain for her. she takes the time to vet her policies thoroughly and when she says them and presents them, they are what they are, self-explanatory. neil: but she doesn't talk to a lot of journalists or a lot to express the views. maybe she has with you. many have wondered if she's up to the job. donald trump says if she gets in and has her way, the markets are going to tank. >> obviously, he's wrong. neil, you know as a business person, you need to follow the results and with the name recognition and donald trump says harris, what, and going from 45 days way behind to ahead or tied at worse, that's a huge accomplishment means you're doing something right and should do more of it. on the flip said, donald trump was way ahead, it was inconceivable he could potentially lose this election, and he's squandered that entire
8:38 am
lead. neil: the polls are even. can i ask you, mark, whether you would entertain being treasury secretary, commerce secretary, in a harris administration. >> the sec. neil: head of the sec. maybe hhs, somebody needs to replace gary henssler. you might have heard her talk to support advanced technology like ai, not the ai. neil: and he's not a good cop for the securities industry, bottom line. >> bottom line he's awful, particularly for crypto and business in general and we've seen public companies be decimated. neil: mark cuban, not a fan of donald trump. and most of the business leaders seem to support donald trump cutting tax regulations and the stuff that he did. to karl rove, the former deputy chief of staff and fox news
8:39 am
contributor. karl, you know, obviously cuban is a standout in that community and maybe he is pitching for a job in the kamala harris administration, maybe as he sees it as the sec chief. what do you make of all that, what he said? >> well, with all due respect to mr. cuban, kamala harris has not been serious. in fact, let's be honest, neither candidate has been particularly serious about the economy. donald trump can point to the deregulation and the tax cuts of his first term, but other than tariff, tariff, tariff, and drill, baby, drill, we really don't have a lot of specifics what he wants to do in a second term. nor do we have substantive proposals from her. does anybody think that giving first time buyers $25,000 to buy a home is going to solve the housing problem in america? does anybody think saying we're going to double the amount of money to give a new small business, is 25 grand to 50
8:40 am
grand. neither is talking about the growing debt and deficit. we're borrowing money from our kids and grandkids. the biden administration started to do this in a big fashion with the american rescue plan which even barack obama's treasury secretary, larry summers and obama's council of economic advisors jason fuhrman said don't do this, it will cause inflation and it did. neither one has laid out a comprehensive plan, to restore economic growth to what it needs to be and put america on the international seen and deal with the debt and deficit. nobody has been talking about that. neil: well, good luck on that. let me get your take and you're a far more astute follower than i'll ever be. i wonder in the case of donald trump he has a good economic argument to weigh here and tax cuts and regulation from when he's in power.
8:41 am
but he takes an enormous amount of time talking about the democrats, and cheating, and a debate he clearly lost, saying it was three against one, it wasn't fair. and i don't think there's any harm being done to say you didn't do well in that debate, didn't do nearly as well as when you took on joe biden. you were effective in that one, but not in this one, but he just gets caught up in that. now, i can almost hear what he'll say about that and his followers say about that, but i find if you you're going to focus on things like the economy, focus on the economy and maybe today, focus on this latest development in israel, whatever, but he gets distracted and all over the map. >> yeah, neil, i'm surprised you laid out one of the critical issues of this campaign, fluffy and fido are eaten in springfield, ohio, we spent time on. look, in a presidential
8:42 am
campaign, there are three important strengths, resources you have, money, issues, and time. if you chew up time, you cannot create more time. you can always raise more money, you can always raise additional issues, but you can't create more time and he has chewed up valuable time talking about inconsequential things. take a look out of the latest fox poll, his lead on who is better to handle immigration is plus 15, the economy plus 8, but the last fox poll he was at 20% on immigration, he's lost five points. he was 15 on the economy, it's now down to-- down seven points to a lead of only eight. so if you don't stay focused on the big issues, and you don't layout a forward looking agenda that people could get their hands around, then you're going to diminish the leads that you might have because of what you did four years ago. and that's exactly what is happening and we've got 39 days left and if he's not more disciplined, he could well lose
8:43 am
this, even though he started it on july 21st when biden pulled out in a very strong place. neil: what would be the harm for him, you know, the debate, the last one, i botched it, didn't do as well, move on. i never hear him say that on. americans are for giving, i make constant mistakes, this broadcast comes to mind. you know what i mean? what do you make of it. >> it is what it is and move on. i'm not sure he has to apologize for it. for weeks the harris campaign said we're going to try to provoke it and they did and he fell for it. what would happen, she said your crowds are small and people are bored. if he'd said in response, noi what you're trying to do, you're trying to get me to talk about crowd size rather than your lousy record and the border. and tell you about the three issues. the debate would have been over.
8:44 am
similarly, rather than complaining about the abc moderators, you're beating up on me. what if he said, look, i understand you're fact checking me, but pretend like you're doing a fair job. remembering in her opening statement, trump left her the highest unemployment rate since the great depression, that was not true. neil: that was a lay-up. >> lay-up. remember the double digit unemployment rates we had for years under jimmy carter, it really was an astonishing performance ooh. neil: yeah, you know, and he did it effectively and didn't take the bait from joe biden in that debate and he did in this one. >> absolutely. neil: it is what it is, my friend. always good seeing you, karl rove on that. we want to update you now, sad news to pass along that now in the event of hurricane helene, now 52 are dead and that number could rise. we'll have more after this. ok y'all we got ten orders coming in.. big orders! starting a business is never easy, but starting it eight months pregnant..
