ashe asheville, north carolina, what are you seeing this morning? >> your description of desperate is a good one. this is a collapsed fence in the arts district of asheville decimating the area. this looks like tornado damage, but this is from water. rescues are active, there are hundreds still missing. active national guard and other agencies are in the air looking for people, because they are still cut off with no cell phone service, no food, no water. we've been talking to people for days. one is a first responder, here is what they said yesterday.

of arsheville. our town has been decimated. buildings are gone on one side of the road, the ground the building sat on is no longer there. devastation. people lost their lives. folks from our church helping people saw people lose their lives. we don't have a final count or anything like that. it is devastating. all the prayers you can send and support is greatly needed. i'm from louisiana, i've been in floods and never seen anything like this. bridges and infrastructure destroyed. it will take years to build this back. every bridge i know of in our area is down. it is pretty bad. >> carley: you have taken it upon yourself to do one of the

most important things. there is a home that serves 100 kids and the road to get to it has been washed out and these kids are stranded. what are you doing to help out? >> my wife serves on the board at the xhrn's home, it is credible, they house 100 kids there. they have been around for 100 years. we are getting food and water to those guys. i think it is black mountain h home.com. incredible ministry. i feel like things, supplies are starting to trickle in. more concerned about long-term rec recovery wons we stabilize here. they had a mud slide that took

out a cabin and their entire lodge. there were 35 kids here on mission trip that were staying at the cabins and barely got out in time. they saw the ground moving and the 35 students ran out and their lives were spared. praise god for that. stories are coming in left and right and some are sad and prayers of thanksgiving. >> carley: look at the images on the screen. have you thought this far in advance? how do you recover financial loo? if you lose your home or business or your employer loses their business and you are out of a job, how do you dig out of that? >> our church will be and there are several churches in the area mobilizing and raising funds.

north carolina, why does this biden-harris administration seem so slow to react and many people would argue seem disengaged when reacting to tragedies, it doesn't add up. why do you think? >> i don't understand it. i really don't. because, historically, one of the frankly best people ever in the office of president to deal with crisis was bill clinton. he was absolutely the master of it. i give him full credit for being a person who always gave the empathy and came in person to when there was a natural disaster. and he showed up and his presence and his empathy for people was frankly, probably the best in my lifetime. i don't ever remember democrat or republican president better at it than he was, is he frankly i think the template and role model for how it ought to be done. >> todd: barack obama came up here during sandy. to say your point it's not democrat or republican.
