4:30 am
hasn't been announced yet. hassan as you said the cousin of nasrallah. the founder of hezbollah. he goes all the way back to 1928 his son is married to kassem soleimani's daughter. he has been embedded in this for years. is he very close to iran and the supreme leader. they are going to keep doing this. they have taken out their senior leaders. they have taken down operational leaders like the rocket and missile commander and they have killed a number of their tactical leaders because the second mission they are going after in lebanon is the rocket and missile force is we can only speculate about a week and a half ago i was told by israelis taken down 30% of the rocket and missile force. i suspect 50% by now. clearly that is really what they are after. because that's the weapon that can hurt them inside israel. and then the third thing, brian, is the ground campaign that's
4:31 am
taking place. they are attacking on two axes. what they're trying to do is eliminate the threat at the border rocket and missile threat at the border and potential for an invasion like hamas did on october the 7th. they have got paratroopers. commandos and armor forces involved in that they are working on two axes. they have committed a division to it. they have got two other divisions in stand by, which will likely get committed. it will take a number of weeks for them to accomplish this mission. >> wow, so, now let's talk iran. so, 180 rockets, missiles, into israel. it's time for a response. they promised a harsh response. they are coordinating with the u.s. here is what president biden recommended when asked. >> do you support israel striking iran's oil facilities, sir? >> we're in discussion with that i think -- i think that would be a little -- anyway. >> what are the plans to allow
4:32 am
israel to strike back against iran? >> first of all, we don't allow israel. we advise israel. and there's nothing going to happen today. we will talk about that later. >> brian: i'm just -- he never talks to the press but he says don't hit the nuclear sites. we're considering hitting the oil sites and nothing is happening today. general, what's he thinking? >> well, that's outrageous that we talk in a public forum like that. you know, that he is trying to take nuclear attack sites off the table, which, obviously, gives the iranians, you know, they can balance, you know, what they are going to defend, based on that. still some risk involved because netanyahu could do it anyway. but, why play into the iranians' hands? we have seen this before. the micromanaging their operation in gaza. who did that help? that helped hamas. here we are helping iranians, so our audience understands, i believe and so does the israelis, who i talk to, they
4:33 am
certainly believe that iran is vulnerable and why is that? somewhat back on their heels. well, there are two major proxies where they make all their investment are being systematically dismantled. the military eeivettle tianess of hamas is dramatically reduced. and can you see what is happening in hezbollah and we just talked about it. that is a big deal. what netanyahu is going for here. is he not going for stop the fighting. is he going for the win and that, i think, is what he should be pursuing. the second thing is that iran convention forests overwhelmingly weak. rocket and missile forces the strongest part of their conventional force, but, look it, two major attacks and they have had difficulty having any consequential results from those two major attacks, using rockets and missiles into israel.
4:34 am
and the third thing they are continually epressed. they can't speak out. their human rights are being denied on a regular basis every day. it doesn't take much to spark this thing. and netanyahu and his team knows it. i think that's why they want to hurt iran, make them weaker as a result of it. and create -- not overnight. but create a spark and a foundation for an eventual significant civil unrest as a result of it. >> brian: we all know, the gulf state, saudi arabia and others are clapping about this. because they despise iran, too. and their silence says a lot. thanks so much, general, this is an historic time. thanks to israel's prowess. this is an opportunity to destroy our enemy, too. general jack keane, thanks so much. look at the isw.
