pete: folks were great and love fox and friends and "fox & friends" weekend greetings from butler. president trump returning to butler, pennsylvania. for a historic rally less than three months after first assassination attempt on his life. rachel: alexis mcadam is live in butler with the latest. good morning, alexis. reporter: good morning, well from everybody i talked to out here on the ground they loved all three of you guys. pete was talking to everybody but they were excited to have fox and friend weekend on the ground as he made his triumphant return stand on the same exact stage under the massive rather flag that was still hanging there from 12 weeks ago as they remembered exactly what happened up on that stage. where he was nearly assassinated. >> a very big thank you to pennsylvania. we love pennsylvania. and as i was saying --

[cheering] reporter: yeah as he was saying and then he picked right back up where he left off just months ago now that crowd massive you can see it there. that's just behind okay the stage so you see where the former president was. they had lots of chairs sets up there. so people could get close to them those were guests that had tickets and had maybe signed up earlier but thousands who couldn't get into the gates. and many people said they're grappling with the chaos that unfold has had day and felt they needed to come back to the grounds and three innocent rally goers shot and one killed two -- >> nobody should come it a political gathering and fear about losing their life. that's the abstract level so you look at that way. but then on a plerchl it is just unimaginable tragedy to have something like that happen.

>> shannon quite a moment. >> uh-huh. these guys have really bonded over this issue of free speech. you know that elon is taking a lot of heat around the world for the fact that he's been pressured to sensor certain kinds of speech and his argument is listen i allow all kinds of things out there offensive otherwise because here in the united states we have something unique which is the first amendments. and the thing we always have to remember is that it is there for unpleasant speech things like the westboro baptist church 8-0 by all things we can't repeat on the air but a recognized right to do it. the supreme court is repeatedly said another case in 2017 that you know, it's about protecting the most hateful thoughts because -- that's what happens in democracy and thank founders really felt like more speech is the -- solution to offense of speech rather than less speech. that's something that elon musk and president trump and his team have really bonded over. will: a perfect transition trying not to dominate this interview because i'm excited.

work as a team come to fruition they've said okay we will give you governor walz so we're excited. door is always open we say that every week we want to hear from different tickets from people who wants to be leaders of our country we think it is important so we're excited to have the governor. >> we've been hearing rumors that, you know, from the internet from different surrogates qhoive saying, hey, this idea of hiding kamala isn't working we thought we could get through but she's slipping in the polls trump seems like he has a little more momentum now and they're getting nervous but interesting they've put tim walz forward and not kamala pap how much do you think that has to do with the fact that -- the kamala team, kamala walz teal is a little bit nervous coming into the final weeks? shannon: we know she's going to do other stuff "60 minutes" stuff that are coming up howard stern and others so i think they realize now these calls they've had for mainstream media other people who would seem friendly to them have been like you've got to get out there this is a

presidential campaign you have to do it. so i think that they're feeling that, and i don't know if governor walz has more to say or to clean up or to clarify or that he wants to add from the debate this was his big week. and so that may be why they came through that open door to us to follow-up on some of the conversations that were part of that debate as well. but whatever the reason we're glad to have him. pete: there were a number of toics not going into the will you ask him or what will you ask him and so many things we're not followed up about his background so you have a target rich environment to make today's interview interesting. >> we have a list of about 8,000 questions so we'll see how many of them we can jam in when he joins us live. will: there's an article up and it's on politico it says walz says he speaks like everybody else. and it is not working for thes campaign. i was having this conversation with rachel offair that if you kind of look back at most of the people who have actually won the presidency going back to bill

clinton, bill clinton, george w. bush, donald trump, joe biden, all except for barack obama, you could argue they all have had somewhat unpolished manners of speaking. you know, the claim that walz is now making -- do you think that his sort of what do we have the word slop he's not sloppy folks -- do you think it is working? it connects? shannon: i think that's what people do like about him he's like your great neighbor next door he's the school teacher, the coach. that very much i think has been sort of his selling point of his personality but if we said sub stanley false thing use couldn't say i'm superpassionate or knuckle head or grammar isn't always right we continue get away with that with our employers and making these repegs representations so he is passionate and carried away sometimes but at the end of the

than 230 people tragically are dead. will: fox weather randy campbell is live in north carolina. brandy. reporter: good morning guys. as you can imagine it's been a somber and tough week for many people across this region really the southeast really when you consider that death toll. again, over 230 people included. but also it's been hard for residents and business owners just really feeling wrath of it another example of the damage just behind me. you can see this vehicle flipped completely on its side. i mean, uprooting some of the soil. you can see the fence behind it and then just piles next to it. but also we can see the waterline on this home. next to the car, this water line is well over my head you can see it almost in a rust like color next to the house as we pan down the street of this neighborhood, you can see the devastation just

continues on and on lots of things scattered about you can see some folks have started cleaning throwing things outside of their homes at this time now in the county we've met many people who need help to get through this disaster many folks not having flood insurance. fema they are on the ground 5,000 federal personnel and they have approved 14,000 applications here in buckam county that included 12 million dispersed to the community encouraging everyone to register at disaster assistance.gov and urban search and rescue ongoing and 1300 people here helping with that effort. but mane while folks they don't have water. some of them if they do have it, they might have to boil it. and people are also advised to be careful around waterways and soil as they are working with the epa to test if it could be toxic and power outages still impacting over 160,000 customers in north carolina. duke energy say at least 105 of

police are searching for a suspect after a father was shot and killed in a parking lot of a california high school. while going to watch his son's youth football game coaches said they heard three gunshots at least three. while warming up, deputies found a man who had been shot inside a car and later confirmed that it was a player's father. authorities are still investigating a possible motive. wall street journal reports that wiretapping systems here in the u.s. have been targeted in a cyberattack tied to the chinese government. according to the report hackers targeted at&t and verizon with what government uses for network wiretapping requests. federal agents are investigating the attack. and college football washington beating number 10 michigan 20-10 yesterday in a game and arkansas razorbacks from down 11 in the second half to shock number 4, tennessee.
