8:00 am
great. there are a lot of country music singers coming out of north carolina. >> bill: a lot of towns sit in the two chairs there. luke holmes and billy church and -- he comes out of eastern con tucky and james taylor is the headliners. national hurricane center moments ago latest update. give them every three hours. 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. and on and on. milton is 250 miles southwest of tampa, florida. maximum sustained winds 150 miles-an-hour. we expect it to weaken a little bit but it is very rare where you see a storm moving north/northeast like this that slams into the west coast of florida like tampa. hasn't happened in 100 years. >> dana: harris faulkner will take you through the next hour. >> harris: let's pick it up there because we're getting more
8:01 am
information. millions of americans need now to brace for hurricane milton. this is round two during a suddenly violent hurricane season. tampa, florida is facing unsurvivable conditions. we know from 12 days ago with helene the forecasters mean it. now we pray that it is going to go off course but you have to be ready. the storm remains a category 4. it has been a 5 along the way and likely return to some 160 to 180 mile-per-hour winds being carried by the cat 5. president biden is set to speak at every moment after a briefing he is receiving by fema officials. that is critical. there is all sorts of talk about what fema can do and what it hasn't done for hurricane helene victims and potentially could be facing more people to help by the end of this week. i'm harris faulkner and you are
8:02 am
in "the faulkner focus." officials have ordered mandatory evacuations now for people in a dozen florida counties, 5 1/2 million people in florida living along the gulf coast must leave the area immediately. let's watch. >> we are leaving. this is the first time in 12 years we'll be leaving for a storm. we are evacuating 11 miles inland just can't take any chances after seeing what helene did. that was 100 miles off shore. >> harris: a lot of people are starting to prepare for the worst and doing it early. 4 million people live in the six counties surrounding tampa bay. some live in mobile homes and rvs especially vulnerable to severe weather. florida senator marco rubio posted this. several years ago, i asked the national hurricane center to show me what the worst case
8:03 am
storm hitting florida would look like. what they showed me back then is just about identical to the milton forecast now. that's senator rubio of florida. fox team coverage now madison is in banner elk, north carolina. dana marie is in florida. first let's go to janice dean. >> we got the 11:00 a.m. advisory. the winds are 150 mile sustained winds. yesterday we had a very strong hurricane at 180. it will weaken a little bit as it approaches the west coast of florida but the concern is the storm surge. that will stay the same. even if we talk about a borderline category 3 or 4 hurricane when it makes impact the storm surge would be upwards of ten feet and it is not survivable in some of these areas. that's why you are seeing
8:04 am
language like catastrophic and please evacuate because you will not survive a ten to 15 foot storm surge. we'll see a little more strengthening but i think that this is what we'll have, a category 4 or 3 making landfall interacting with a trough, that is steering the storm. north of the storm is where we get heavy rainfall upwards of a foot. south of it is where we see the devastating storm surge into areas that are extremely vulnerable to storm surge and that is the tampa bay area. ten to 15 feet under water because you have all of this water from the gulf of mexico piling into the bays and inlets and this is a worst-case scenario. that's indeed what the track is saying. now, we look at places like fort myers up to ten feet. that's also going to be devastating for them. hurricane-force winds, at least a category 3. 110 miles-per-hour for duration
8:05 am
of hours as it crosses over the florida peninsula, still seeing a hurricane for orlando up towards daytona beach upwards of a foot of rainfall. the real take away here, harris, is the tampa bay area needs to brace for catastrophic storm surge. that is the push of the ocean in towards these bays and inlets, tampa bay is the most susceptible city in the u.s. to with stand that storm surge. >> harris: two things. i look for rays of hope in all of this. yesterday the 180 cat 5, it will weaken. we won't go from a cat 4 to a cat five. >> hurricane katrina 20 years ago was a category 5 and made landfall with a 3 with a 30-foot
8:06 am
storm surge. don't pay attention to the category. it was a very strong storm in the gulf of mexico but it carries with it a devastating storm surge. that does not change as the category goes down. >> harris: quick question. from what we just saw with helene, i'm looking for the reason why it stayed on land and stayed so powerful for so long. was that because it was a bigger storm when it hit? what are they looking for here? you said it will remain a cat 3 and could cross the state. >> it will cross the state. it will still be a hurricane. but i was listening to governor desantis earlier "fox & friends." the state of florida can with stand a category 3, 2, 1 hurricane winds. we'll see power outages and over a foot of rainfall but it is the storm surge into the vulnerable area here along the west coast, the gulf coast. that is because of the topography. very shallow. all of that water has to go somewhere.
8:07 am
if this was anywhere else a ten to 15 foot storm surge could be with stood. this can't. >> harris: it has a lot of water on it. everglades and all that is all water. >> the two-foot rain surplus already for this vulnerable area. flooding will be a huge concern and freshwater flooding can also kill people as well. >> harris: a lot of information in this latest update. some of it good, all of it pointing to the fact that people must take cover and leave where there are mandatory evacuations. >> absolutely. >> harris: thank you very much. floridians are preparing for what's coming on the heels of hurricane helene. in some communities have not even finished cleaning up all the debris in their areas. again, it has been 12 days. tampa's mayor with a dire warning. >> this is literally catastrophic and i can say without any dramatization whatsoever, if you choose to stay in one of those evacuation
8:08 am
areas, you are going to die. >> a strong message from the tampa mayor but it is true. florida officials, this is the time to evacuate if you are told 20 do so. be ready. big cities like miami and fort lauderdale are not in the direct path of milton but a tropical storm warning and the city of miami beach. it is quiet this morning. a couple cars at a time. it is not the case for what's happening up north. our friends in lakeland, florida, where they had to wait for hours for sandbags, cars sneaking around the parking lot. it closed around 5:45 last night. some cars didn't make it to the front of the line in front. tampa grocery store shelves are empty. finding gas has been a challenge for so many.
8:09 am
one couple went to six gas stations before they found anything. >> god help us all. i feel bad. people who already got destroyed, hopefully they didn't already redo stuff and it is going to happen again. >> florida has deployed over 300 dump trucks that they are continuing to work 24/seven picking up that debris already from hurricane helene. these are the largest evacuation numbers we've seen since hurricane irma where nearly 7 million people took to the roads. desantis urging people to evacuate today. >> he also said this morning there will be evacuation centers set up all along evacuation routes. we see tropicana field, have cots ready. florida is working with hotels to keep prices low to make sure
8:10 am
they aren't price gouging. we know it is a difficult time for families and people here in florida praying that it does not come to the worst. >> harris: thank you. search crews continuing to look through the hard-hit areas of the appalachians for people missing. the death toll from hurricane helene rises again. at least 232 are confirmed dead. many people are hoping for more relief from the federal government. the white house is going on the defense big time. if yesterday is any indication, it is tense. here it is with our own correspondent peter doocy. >> if he has money for people in lebanon right now, without congress having to come back, what does it say about his values there is not enough money right now for people in north carolina who need it? that's not misinformation. -- it is.
8:11 am
it is misinformation. i just mentioned to you that we provided more than 200 million to folks impacted in the area. the way you are asking me the question is misinformation. there is money that we are allocating to the impacted areas and there is money there to help people who truly need it. the there are survivors who need the funding and it is there. >> you don't like misinformation. that's what i asked about and you said it was misinformation. >> you are asking me is why congress needs to come back and do their job is what you're asking me. >> harris: press secretary karine jean-pierre then stormed out of the briefing room. you know, this is sort of how this administration has handled the economy. they say one thing is happening and americans experience something completely different for protracted lengths of time. all of this is coming after the department of homeland security secretary alejandro mayorkas said fema did not have enough
8:12 am
cash to cover hurricane season. well, a new inspector general report shows fema is actually sitting on more than $7 billion of funding but cannot use any of that money because of bureaucratic red tape, which means the white house is in the way. no wonder she slammed her binder and walked out. a scathing op-ed co-written by doug schoen, a frequent guest of this show. hurricane helene reveals udderless white house. fema hurricane aid stopped by road closed sign. that's kamala harris in a nutshell. madison is in banner elk, north carolina. madison. >> officials tell us it could take months or years in some places to rebuild. one of the major concerns is all of the damage to some
8:13 am
infrastructure like a lot of roads. crews from all across western north carolina are working to get these roads back into shape. it is a problem across the region. helene destroyed some small mountain towns making it impossible to get in and out of some places where bridges are gone and roads are completely buckled. we're now seeing more federal help on the ground. these are army soldiers from the 101st airborne visiting fairview yesterday. soldiers went house to house asking people what supplies they needed. the white house says there are now 7,000 federal personnel on the ground helping with helene aftermath. people who live here say it is the volunteers doing the brunt of the work and it is neighbors who have been helping each other since this all started. >> so we didn't have any access to have, you know, like the fire department out here so it was just a bunch of locals, whoever had razors and clause that could
8:14 am
get up there. >> the biggest needs for people now remain clean water, food and medication. harris. >> harris: madison, thank you very much. fox corporation has raised more than $8 million for the red cross's hurricane helene relief efforts. and it continues to be an annual disaster giving partner which allows the red cross to respond to disasters with recovery resources. you can help visit red cross.org/fox forward to donate. the media blitz is on but friendly faces she will face. she does need help, though, doing one thing those tough questions would help her do. tell americans who she really is and what her policy beliefs are and what she will do. she won't get that in these interviews. plus disgusting displays of jewish hate on the first anniversary of hamas's brutal
8:15 am
october 7th massacre of israelis. [shouting] >> harris: it's not peaceful. protestors raging through the streets of major cities across america clashing with police and desecrating american and israeli flags. whether enough powerful voices in the country denounce the dangerous hatred. where are all the voices all the way to the top? it's crickets.

[shouting] >> harris: thousands of anti-israel protestors spewing jewish hates raging through major american cities yesterday on the one year anniversary of the horrific hamas slaughter of 1200 israelis and, of course, all the hostages that they took, 251. a massive display of jewish hate in new york city. some of it started during this very hour yesterday.
8:22 am
new york city is home to the most jewish population outside of israel. police battled swarms of demonstrators in times square and other places in the city. we heard jewish chants, the hate, the threats, saw israel's flag abused. at least six people arrested. really? wow, that seems like a low number. two opinion headlines here. anti-israel protestors show true colors by celebrating october 7th attack. another anti-semitism rise after october 7th should scare us all. the anti-defamation league, one jewish student at barn hard college in new york city said this. >> it is very important to acknowledge that what happened on october 7th was a massive
8:23 am
terror attack. the fact that some people are celebrating it and saying that it is really a protest, but israel didn't even respond on october 7th, is just so shocking to me. >> harris: during last night's interview on cbs60 minutes vice president cochl hair was asked about this if we have a real close ally in prime minister benjamin netanyahu. here is how she responded. >> i think with all due respect the better question is do we have an important alliance between the american people and the israeli people? the answer to that question is yes. >> harris: we'll get back to that in a moment. her boss, which she is trying to replace, is about to speak to the nation from the roosevelt room at the white house and this is some of the type of response that we didn't see with hurricane helene pulling into place very quickly. federal response now to helene, we understand, will be a topic
8:24 am
and we also understand that he is preparing to cancel -- make some changes to his schedule because of milton. let's watch. >> president biden: thanks for your patience. as you know, i put out a statement this morning i'm canceling my trip to germany and africa. going to try to go there later. i just don't think i can be out of the country at this time. number one, number two, we are going to stay focused on what is ahead of us right now. i've been briefed by senior leaders of this administration and who are preparing for hurricane milton, which could be one of the worst storms in 100 years to hit florida.
8:25 am
and continued efforts on hurricane helene. i directed the team to do everything it can to save lives in our communities and help our community before, during and after the extreme weather events. and that's being done. that's being done. i have spoken to all political leaders in the region, some more than once, and they have told me anything they asked for they can get and been given and gotten an overwhelming positive response from everyone from the governors of florida up to north carolina. and these leaders have expressed sincere gratitude for the work of fema and for the work of my entire administration. now, i have also surged thousands of federal people on the ground in the southeast already and deliver every available resource as fast as possible. my priority is to increase the
8:26 am
size and presence of our effort. as we prepare for another catastrophic storm, about to make landfall, it has been -- i've been in constant contact with our director of the national weather service, ken graham. who has kept me informed what to anticipate. you never know until it happens but very engaged. he made clear to me just how dangerous this storm is indicating that winds have reached up to 180 miles-an-hour. that's not a guarantee it will hit the shore then but they've reached up to 180 miles-an-hour. possible storm surge as it hits the coast of florida of 15 feet. which can be devastating. the current path is affecting the tampa bay area and cut directly across the state east to west for the potential to this storm to enter florida as a hurricane and leave florida as a
8:27 am
hurricane on the atlantic coast. this could be the worst storm to hit florida in over a century and god willing it won't be but that's what it is looking like right now. immediately approved the pre-landfall emergency declarations in florida. the second one in a week. second time in a week. two before that, by the way. and i sent fema administrator down to florida yesterday to work intensively with state and local partners as we prepare to put more resources. the work in north carolina and florida in the coming days. i call on the airlines on other companies to provide services to accommodate evacuations and not to engage in price gouging. just do it on the level. and last night i spoke again with the governor of florida, desantis, and tampa mayor castor, and i made clear to them
8:28 am
they should reach out, including to me directly, with everything else they may need as they see the storm hits. i gave them my personal number to contact me here in the white house. most importantly i have urged everyone -- everyone currently located in hurricane milton's path to listen to local officials and follow the safety instructions. you have all been reporting on the highways, shoulders being open. everybody heading out. if you are under evacuation orders, you should evacuate now, now. you should have already evacuated. it's a matter of life and death. that's not hyperbole. a matter of life and death. fema has provided 300 ambulances, for people who can't move themselves out of healthcare facilities and while we prepare for hurricane milton we're surging resources in north carolina, georgia, tennessee, and others to respond to hurricane helene. it is real. the impact is still there.
8:29 am
we will leave -- we won't leave until the job is done. it will take time and before it is all over it will take tens of billions of dollars to get it done. we're keeping you all in our prayers out there. there is a lot of people, good news is just before we called you in, i received information that a number of missing persons has been significantly reduced from the first hurricane but we'll have more information on that later. so that's the situation and we are not going to leave until the job is finished. could take a while. >> what's the risk of political figures sharing misinformation during this time? >> it's real. the fact of the matter is i think we have -- i have been able to contact all the governors. they are sticking up for what they've asked for, they are pointing out they are satisfied
8:30 am
with everything they're getting. but i can't speak for others on the internet and -- look, those who do it, do it to try to damage the administration. we can take care of ourselves. but it misleads people and puts people in circumstances where they panic, where they really, really worry and think we're not being taken care of. it is unamerican. it really is. people are scared to death. people know their lives are at stake. all that they worked for. all they own and value. and it is just -- it is just -- anyway. [shouted questions]
8:31 am
>> president biden: i have plenty of time to talk about angola. i plan to go there. plenty of time to talk about what is going on in south america in terms of the amazon and i will be talking today with my friend chancellor of germany and we'll try to work that out. we have already contacted all these people, okay? but i will be on the phone today, i'm heading shortly when i get up from here heading out to wisconsin, to milwaukee, and -- but i think we can -- i'm still planning on visiting all the places i said i would be and all the conferences i said i would participate in. [shouted questions] >> president biden: the governor of florida has been cooperative and said he has all he needs. i talked to him again yesterday and i said no, you are doing a
8:32 am
great job. we thank you for it and i gave him my personal phone number to call. i don't know, there was a rough start in some places but every governor, every governor from florida to north carolina has been fully cooperative and supportive and acknowledged what this team is doing. they're doing an incredible job. we have a lot more to do. [shouted questions] >> thank you very much. [shouted questions continue] >> thank you, press. >> harris: so we watch because every now and then those reporters shouting questions over the handlers screaming you have to go now. every now and then you might
8:33 am
hear a question get answered. we saw a smile. it is awkward in the room. we're hearing from people in all these states that they need help. and this government was slow to act. they can sugar coat it if they want. it is still a bitter pill. everything he just said, he should have said 13 days ago right after that storm hit, he could have sat in the same room there in roosevelt and said what he just said. so much of it -- so much of it has been needed for so long. september 26th hurricane helene. tammy bruce, fox news contributor, david car luke', former democratic state senator. david. i want to come to you first. we have hurricanes come off the coast and have lots of things going on. nothing like they were experiencing right now in the southeast. you have seen planning in motion and communication the way it
8:34 am
should go. what criticism do you have for your party now? >> right now it doesn't matter if it's a storm brewing in the gulf of mexico, evil forces taking root in the east. >> harris: let's stay focused. we are talking about biden and harris's response to hurricane helene. >> a house divided cannot stand and that's where we have to work together as a nation, not as a political party. and the criticism is on all sides. >> harris: why is it on the republicans? the former president went there and got them before anybody in your party. >> donald trump does a great job at articulating the problems and the dark spots. talking about how do we bridge that gap and work together? trying to quell the misinformation that is out there. donald trump has a lot of responsibility there. he has a big microphone. a lot of people listen to him. he has a responsibility to do the right thing. what i'm saying is we all play a part in this. >> harris: he was using his and
8:35 am
biden wasn't using his 13 days later. >> actually i believe it was october 4th biden made a surprise appearance in the press room. remember, at the white house. total surprise. answering questions he was not asked one question about helene. four days ago. said nothing about it. not prompted for it and didn't offer it. it is as though it had not occurred. the first time they get this guy in the room he seemed connected, was answering certain questions, and it was a surprise. so i think what we've got here is a plan in the democrats are so used to effectively hiding, evading issues that are happening in the country. not wanting to address specifics. not being ready for things that are surprises even though it's hurricane season. they preferred not to. we came together, not politicians but certainly musk
8:36 am
and trump with the star link. ivanka trump flying them in. donald trump's $25 million donation. the raising of money to help people in north carolina, georgia, virginia, every place that was hit. we saw people come together. people are thinking well, if i pay taxes and we've lived this way, why am i on my own? why is it the cajun navy and others moving in, neighbor helping neighbor which we always want. why is it just them? why did musk have to go on x to pete buttigieg and say stop -- it's about trying to help. when you have to go on x and ask pete buttigieg the secretary of transportation to stop hindering aid that is going in and it worked. buttigieg intervened and suddenly you could get the trucks and planes in. >> harris: i want to give david a chance to respond and we'll move. >> this is about they're
8:37 am
articulating the problems. what's wrong is always available and so is what's good. we need to do more and say we've heard from the governors saying they get the fema response that they need. and yes, are there always problems in a disaster? >> harris: are you a ware what the president said, people were happy? >> it's taken out of context. >> harris: it is not. >> he is talking about the nasty responses receive. >> harris: he was asked about the response to hurricane helene. he couldn't -- he was like i thought you were talking about a different storm. milton wasn't on the map yet. >> he is talking to actual people working on the ground saying they are getting the responses and that he responded to them. >> kamala harris has not been part of the conversation as much as biden. she wasn't in the roosevelt room today. he spoke for her and included here but she wants his job in 28 days. let's move. let's keep it on the topic. vice president kamala harris media blitz is in full swing today.
8:38 am
critics are saying the interviews are about as soft as you can get and she is doing her first live interview since becoming the democratic presidential candidate today. it's on "the view" and harris will also talk with supporters to stephen colbert. she dodged questions on 60 minutes last night. the important one on american's minds, what about her economic plan and how will she pay for it? >> your economic plan would add $3 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade. how are you going to pay for that? >> okay. so the other economists that have reviewed my plan versus mine and determined that my economic plan would strengthen america's economy, his would weaken it. >> pardon me, madam vice president. the question was, how are you going to pay for it? >> one of the things that i'll make sure the richest among us,
8:39 am
who can afford it, pay their fair share in taxes. >> but we're dealing with the real world here. >> the real world includes. >> how will you get it through congress? >> when you talk quietly with a lot of folks in congress they know exactly what i'm talking about. >> congress has shown no inclination to move in your direction. >> i disagree with you. >> harris: disagreeing is fine. we could use as example. bill whitaker really pressing her there. it sounds like rich people in the country will solve every problem. what happens when they take their companies elsewhere when the taxes are so hard. >> she is taking the hard questions. she did 60 minutes. donald trump refused to do 06 minutes. >> harris: it is 100% negative for them. he is on the potter's wheel getting shaped every day. >> she is saying we need a fair tax policy. what is donald trump's tax policy to push us into a further
8:40 am
deficit. that's what donald trump in his first four years and office and hopefully last. kamala harris, these aren't easy questions. we need a fair tax policy. why is it that the most wealthy americans have a smaller tax rate than some of the poorest americans, those that are middle class trying to get out of the middle class to the upper class are being saddled by high tax rates when the most wealthy aren't paying them. she was clear on them. donald trump has been elusive. he wants a tariff and tax cuts to raise prices for every american. >> harris: are we clear on the rebuttal for that? >> short of you growing up in the middle class and having a nice lawn i think what americans want are specifics, right? they want to know. these are vague, broad strokes that we've heard fores from people. then we see what happens. what we know under trump is prior to the pandemic the strongest economy in human history. americans were making more. the poverty rate for black
8:41 am
americans had shrunk to the most since world war ii. i never interrupted you. please. and, of course, the wage gap shrunk as well. his economy was strong enough to where we were able to act to some degree when it came to the pandemic. i think that what people heard there is what they always heard. platitudes, broader based dynamics. what americans know is that inflation exists because of spending. it is a matter of policies. she is part of the problem. if this was the solution, why haven't they done it for the last 3 1/2 years? they want change and they want -- they know her dynamic with biden has led us to this point. donald trump had a very different trajectory and they want that back. we'll see. this process with these soft interviews, so-called, in 29 days might be brilliant if she wins or american people will reject it. we won't find out until 29 days
8:42 am
from now? >> i was trying to add it is not fair when you talk about donald trump's tenure in office to exclude his last year in office. you have to take it in its entirety like we have to take the biden administration in its entirety. we were headed toward a recession and joe biden guided us out of that. >> harris: you have to stop saying that. it is not true. i'm trying to- >> we were headed toward a recession and the american rescue plan. you have to take donald trump's entire four years, you can't say covid hit. you excluded the last year in office. >> even still -- in the last year -- >> we were headed for an economic disaster. >> harris: no. >> because of supply chain issues. we have to remember that.
8:43 am
>> harris: if you have a problem with supply chain issues imagine what got kicked up last week. another crisis under your party's watch nearly not averted. so much pressure for people. >> now it is moving in the right direction. what would donald trump do, ask them to be fired? >> harris: he already said what he would do. thank you for the debate. the biden-harris border crisis is bringing illegal immigrant gangs into the united states. one of the worst committing horrific acts of violence against americans. here is the problem. it is growing in texas and now across the country. out of control. texas congressman chip roy in "focus" next. i brought in ensure max protein with 30 grams of protein. those who tried me felt more energy in just two weeks!

violence by illegal immigrants across the state. dallas police charged four illegals with robbing a woman and gun point during a home invasion. san antonio police arrested 20 people on drugs and human trafficking charges at an apartment complex. some are confirmed members of the brutal gang the venezuelan gang tren de aragua, tda as they're known. vice president kamala harris has flipped flopped on the white house border policy that allowed millions to come in now promising hundreds of millions for trump's border wall she called a waste of money. she benefited from a structure on the border in california. it's like she has her memory back or not. she wanted to decriminalize illegal crossings and has walked that back now. her campaign has backed off previous calls to eliminate
