8:00 am
us here. it comes in bands every 20 minutes or so. 20 years ago i can tell you florida was crisscrossed by three hurricanes, charlie, francis, jean all about 2 1/2 to three weeks apart. each one of them you remember as well. and they all came from the atlantic. this one is coming from the gulf. it is very rare when you get a storm of this size that moves west to east essentially. i know it's east/northeast. to take a direct shot at the west coast of florida. that's what they are dealing with and haven't seen anything like this coming off helene 13 days ago and now milton. and everybody is watching to see what milton makes its move. >> dana: good for our viewers to have you and the team across the region. everyone is doing an incredible job and we appreciate all of you. harris faulkner will take you through the next hour. >> harris: breaking news. we're expecting at any moment,
8:01 am
because it comes about this time every day, 11:00 a.m. eastern, we get an update from the national hurricane center. and we'll wait to see what they say about the massive hurricane milton that caused 6 million people to evacuate in its path in the state of florida. the life threatening storm is now moving toward florida's gulf coast. forecasters say it will slam into that peninsula. late tonight or into the early hours of tomorrow. what they are looking at is exactly where it will hit. they aren't saying it is not going to hit. some forecasters are saying is storm surge could be higher than what it was in hurricane katrina which left more than 1,300 people dead. the evacuations, though, this time are the benefit of what we learned, we pray, from katrina. so many people moving out of the way. not everybody, but most. i'm harris faulkner and you are
8:02 am
in "the faulkner focus." this huge storm could be one of the largest we've seen in terms of a hurricane. forecasters are saying milton's wind field will double by the time it hits florida's gulf coast. evacuation orders have been issued, as i mentioned, all around including the tampa area before the hurricane's devastating winds bring what they are expecting to be 15 feet of storm surge. the fema administrator has a warning. >> this storm is going to be like nothing they have seen before. while you can ride out a storm and hide from the wind, you need to move away from the water. they just need to move out of the evacuation zone area to a place safe from the storm surge. i believe there is still time in some areas. listen to your local officials. they will tell you what you still have time to do. >> harris: people have been
8:03 am
boarding up businesses and homes throughout the region pretty much for the last 48 hours. parts of the gulf coast are starting to feel the outer bands of milton. wind lashing rains, flooding already affecting some cities and towns. florida governor ron desantis just this hour. >> we are bracing and are prepared to receive a major hit. the national guard is deploying 6,000 florida national guardsmen as well as 3,000 national guardsmen from other states. this is the largest florida national guard search and rescue mobilization in the entire history of the state of florida. while there is the hope that it will weaken more before landfall, there is high confidence that this hurricane is going to pack a major, major punch and do an awful lot of damage. >> harris: nasa put out the
8:04 am
stunning time lapse from space. that's not a movie capture, that's real. that's milton. and its target right now is florida. senior meteorologist janice dean is in our fox weather center. janice. >> we did get the 11:00 a.m. advisories. winds have gone down a little bit. we were anticipating that. you can't look at the category. the category means the winds. we don't have categories for storm surge. sometimes i think we should. the storm surge will be catastrophic, historic. we set records with helene storm surge just two weeks ago. this in some cases will be double that. i also want to make mention that within the latest advisory they're talking about tornado super cells. this is another story we have to follow in the next 12 to 18 to 24 hours is the potential for tornadoes. you have got the propertation from the counter clockwise motion and that is causing friction with the land.
8:05 am
so yes, we'll see tornado damage in some of these heavy populated areas. by the way, that's on the east coast of florida. so this is going to be a brig concern. tornado watch until 9:00 p.m. one of the risks. we talk about the storm surge. that will be imminent along the west coast of florida. heavily populated neighborhoods. millions of folks live here from tampa to fort myers. we don't know the exact location where the strongest winds will come ashore. that will be key as to who gets the worst storm surge. south of the core of the strongest winds. north of the core of the strongest winds will be the heavy rainfall. a foot to 14, 15 inches. no matter how you slice it, it is going to be a very big event. one that will cause probably damage like they've never seen along the west coast of florida. already seeing wind gusts in excess of 40 miles-per-hour for key west. as you mentioned the storm will
8:06 am
weaken but also going to grow larger. that's what happens. it's interacting with a cold front. it is what happened with sandy a few years ago in the northeast, right? it interacted with a cold front and became extra tropical and got bigger and affected a wide area of real estate. that's what will happen with this storm. landfall we think sometime overnight tonight anywhere between tampa and sarasota, fort myers you aren't out of this, either. anywhere along the vulnerable coastlines where the mound of water is just going to be pushed into the bays, inlets, we could see 12 to 15 feet depending where that center comes ashore. that will be devastating for this area of the cup can -- country. the shelf is so shallow. it is like a ramp for this water. >> harris: it could be worse than katrina is what my team is reading. it is because of how low the shelf is there.
8:07 am
>> yes >> harris: and how different this could be and how much that we are seeing that's new. >> it is going to change the coastline. there is no doubt about that. it will. it is going to impact someone and that's why we have the evacuations in place. you don't have a lot of time now and you are going to wait out the storm, you need to pray. >> harris: well, janice, we appreciate the update especially bringing us with the national hurricane center said. so it has gone down from a 5. we are still at a 4. the warning loud and clear. not that much difference. >> don't focus on the category. >> harris: we'll bring you back as news warrants. >> of course. >> harris: roads and highways throughout florida are packed. people are trying to get out of milton's path. right now about 60% of gas stations in the tampa, st. petersburg area are out of fuel
8:08 am
already. people are preparing for whatever comes ahead of the storm's life threatening storm surge. the rain, the flooding already begun in some areas and will only strengthen throughout the day. officials have told hundreds of thousands of people they must evacuate their homes and urged millions of others to do the same. many in the area are terrified. >> we recently just got through helene in st. petersburg. we're very scared about what will happen with our homes. >> i have been 38 or nine years and we went through it two or three times and i'm getting too old to stay there. >> this time we'll get hit. really scary. it is not scare' now but scary about what we'll find when we go back. >> harris: mike seydel is in florida. >> good morning. another thing they updated at
8:09 am
the 11:00 a.m. advisory they've taken a bit off the top in the tampa bay area. don't focus on a couple feet less. they are saying eight to 12 in tampa bay, a record. clear water beach at 8.6. anna marie island they've increased it from ten to 15 feet. on the beach decimated by helene the surf is starting to come up and a long way to go. how much sand they've lost because of helene. harris, back to you. >> harris: we want to bring you back quickly. we can look at the national hurricane center briefing in motion. let's watch it together. >> eight to 12 feet including the tampa bay region. south of that area down to bonita beach and sanibel island. charlotte harbor eight to ten. storm surge warning in effect for the entire west coast of florida from yankeetown all the way to flamingo. evacuation zones in that region
8:10 am
pleases cape now while you still can. you have a little bit of time left before the water starts to rise later today. i want to note on the east coast of florida from sebastian and southern georgia we have a storm surge warning in effect including portions of the st. john's river. as much as three to five feet above ground level for when milton exits tomorrow. why you want to get out of the storm surge evacuation zones. what will you see when the devastating push of water comes in off the gulf onto the west coast of florida? you will see large areas with deep water due to storm surge flooding. ten to 15 feet above ground level in some places, structural damage to buildings. some buildings washed away by damaging wave action. locations may be uninhabitable for an extended period. roads washed out or flooded and major damage to coastal infrastructure in those areas.
8:11 am
the wind threat. milton now category 4 hurricane expected to be a major hurricane when it reaches the west coast of florida this evening and maintain hurricane status across the florida peninsula out into the western atlantic during the day on thursday. everything in red is a hurricane warning. fort myers through port charlotte, tampa, st. petersburg to ocala, orlando, melbourne and st. august in. we expect the category 3 winds in the high wall significant structural damage. large trees will be snapped and uprooted. widespread power outages. roads will be impassable from large debris and we'll see hurricane force winds again along the i-four corridor wind
8:12 am
gusts leading to significant power outages, wind damage in the area as well. let's move to the flooding threat. substantial as well from rainfall now along and north of the track of milton's center which now appears to be focused on the i-four corridor. expecting 6 to 12 inches of rain, isolated rainfall amounts as high as 18 inches leading to widespread life threatening catastrophic flooding in this region. this area highlighted in pink from today into thursday. that's where we'll have widespread potentially life threatening flooding along the i-four corridor with the substantial risk north and south of that area as well depending where the heaviest rains fall. when we get up to north of 15 inches of rain impacts are flooding to homes and businesses, rescue being conducted. flooding in places that don't normally flood and again roads will be closed and eroded creating hidden dangers that
8:13 am
will not make it safe to be out and about. the message this afternoon again i want to touch on the tornado threat as well that i mentioned at the beginning is expanding and quite significant across much of south and central florida. especially in this region from orlando down to the lake -- the tornadoes and small thoerndz are advancing north out ahead of milton's landfall creating dangerous conditions across portions of the florida peninsula. if you are in these areas, you want to make sure you have multiple ways to get weather alerts, flash flood warnings and tornado warnings. have wireless emergency alerts turned onto your smartphone. battery power radio and be alerted when you might be asleep to dangerous conditions in your area. let's wrap up with the final points here on hurricane milton. expect a large area of
8:14 am
destructive storm surge exceeding 10 feet along portions of the west central coast of the florida peninsula. if you are in that area it's a life threatening situation. evacuate. you have time to get out and save your life. devastating hurricane force winds portions of the west coast of florida and across the florida peninsula along and near the track of milton's center again life threatening hurricane force winds in gusts in places like orlando all the way to the east coast of florida. preparations to protect life and property should be rushed to completion and finally the heavy rainfall risk with potential for life threatening and catastrophic flash and urban flooding across portions of central florida with a risk of long-term major river flooding as well. please stay with us here. >> harris: we wanted to get the details before we bring on the lieutenant governor of florida, jeanette nunes.
8:15 am
it is great to have her to put everything in perspective. first of all, how many people would you say percentage-wise have gotten out of the way? are you feeling good about how many people have moved out of the way? >> we've been coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency managers to make sure that that message has been delivered. i have think given what we saw with hurricane helene, i think people really have heeded the warnings to evacuate. we're really pleased that folks have close en to do that. for those still in their homes deciding whether or not the leave, we stress the time to leave is now. unfortunately there will come a point in time. tornado, rainfall. you won't be able to evacuate at that point. rescue and law enforcement can't get to you. the time to do that is right now. >> harris: lieutenant governor we're getting word now that there has been a touchdown of a
8:16 am
tornado this morning. that happened in the miami-dade metro area in sun rise, florida. we know there is a tornado super cell risk with all of this. along i-75 west of sunrise, florida, a twister confirmed. >> indeed, which is why the governor in his executive order included 51 counties because we knew this storm was so massive it has the potential to have catastrophic not just the areas it will impact along the gulf and west side but even on the east side where as you mentioned we're seeing tornado activity. you will see conditions deteriorate. wind and potential tornadoes. stay home and stay safe and monitor very closely. they can get all that information the flsert.
8:17 am
>> harris: i'm writing that down. as you move toward this there are so many people still hurting from hurricane helene. your state took it first. talk to me a little bit about that. >> yeah, the governor just does a tremendous job under his leadership to make sure everything was ready pre-storm and as we got into the business of recovery. we had cut and toss crews and linemen available for power restoration and made sure search and rescue to preserve life. debris has been a big focus and continued area of priority. we want to get that additional hazard out of the way and continue to do this. my message to people in florida heed warnings but we'll get through it and stand by them and we will rebuild. >> harris: amen. thank you, lieutenant governor of the great state of florida, appreciate your time. we're monitoring milton very
8:18 am
closely. and we're going to bring you any updates we get throughout the hour. because of the tornado super cells they may include tornado touchdowns. we have a lot going on this hour and we'll keep you posted. plus former president trump is fighting for a key demographic. >> what we are going to do is go to church and get out and vote. we have to get christians, evangelicals out to vote. evangelicals, christians have to get out and vote. >> harris: how do you get christians and evangelicals out to vote? i'm bringing together important leaders from the evangelical community in a special round table next in "focus." you've got a pepto predicament, ace.
8:19 am
you overdid it on the loaded fries and now your gut is in the gutter. undo it with pepto fast melts. so you can keep on rolling. [bowling pins knocked down] when you overdo it, undo it with pepto bismol. every day, veteran homeowners are calling newday to pay off credit card debt that's been piling up. many were shocked to learn they've been paying 22% on their credit card balances. and if payments were late, as much as 30%. that's over three times the interest rate on a newday 100 va home loan. pay off high rate credit cards and other debt with a lower rate newday home loan. save hundreds a month, thousands a year.

8:24 am
>> harris: models are showing the presidential election is about as tight as it can get. your vote, every vote counts, every demographic counts, evangelical voters could have a very real impact. they always do. specifically now as tight as this is going into election day. both former president trump and vice president kamala harris are pushing for evangelical support. former president trump with shout-outs at multiple campaign rallies. here is a taste. >> they go to church and they love church and that's great. we have to get christians, evangelicals. we have to get them out to vote. evangelicals, christians have to get out and vote. people have to get out. last night as i was speaking to this incredible group of evangelicals and a lot of others of faith. it is -- you like that, don't you, huh? [cheers and applause]
8:25 am
wow. that means our country is coming a long way because you put faith back, you put religion back into our country, it will be a much better place. i tell you that. [cheers and applause] >> harris: fox voter analysis shows white evangelical or white born again christians made up 22% of the electorate in 2020. 81% of voters in those groups voted for trump. 18% for biden. a recent pew poll shows majority of white voters who identify as evangelical, protestant and catholic support trump. most voters of other religious groups including black protestant, atheist and jewish are backing kamala harris. my panel of evangelical leaders, senior pastor and founder of chicago's new beginnings church
8:26 am
and dr. robert jeffries, first baptist church. dallas senior pastor and fox news contributor. father murray, st. joseph's pastor. christian influencers. great to have you all. i want to start basic here. i broke that down by demographics. our brain room did research on that. the headline is something that i saw in "newsweek" magazine and they have been covering this. dr. jeffries, christians, millions are saying they won't vote this time around. not going to vote. >> it is a dereliction of duty for a christian not to vote in this election. it was jon jay, the first chief justice of the supreme court back in 1812 who said god has given us the privilege of choosing our leaders in this christian nation. and it is our duty to prefer christians as our leaders. he would be called a christian
8:27 am
nationalist today for saying this is a christian nation, but it is and it is important that we vote. the leaders we elect determine the policies we follow and the policies we follow determine the moral and spiritual direction of our entire country. one reason so many christians are disheartened is they don't understand the role of government. god is the one who created government. he created the church and the family as well. government has one purpose. it is not to raise our children for us. it is not to bring a spiritual revival to the country, it is to punish evil doers and keep citizens safe. that's what r romans13. we are voting for a protector for our nation. i believe the donald trump is the best candidate for president. he is the one who can keep our nation safe. and that's what god's purpose for government is. so i encourage every christian
8:28 am
to get out there and vote again there are no perfect pastors, no perfect presidents, but i think you have to choose the best. >> harris: father murray, everybody here was nodding. the only thing missing was a verbal amen. >> and an offering. >> harris: that's certainly not my job. father, i want to hear your perspective on this why people might not go to the polls and what you think they're looking for. >> they are looking for leadership. morality, for inspiration. we do tend to look at our presidents and elected officials as people who will show us what we ought to do, how we ought to do it. and in order to find the right ones we have to listen to what they say. there are so many disappointing things coming from the democratic side of the aisle these days. and then people are not always happy with the republican side, either. then you have to as pastor said, you have to weigh the options. i think people genuinely believe that if we elect someone who
8:29 am
supports morality, civil rights for the unborn, protects children from doctors who want to mutilate them and give them a pill they don't need, people want to take rights away from the church. i was very upset when kamala harris was a senator. she attacked a judge candidate who was a member of the knights of columbus, as catholics and others may know is a fraternal organization to promote civic service and religious duties. i worry when religious is in second place and government is in first place. we need a leader who doesn't believe that. >> harris: pastor brooks, it is interesting to hear clergy talk about politics. oh, no, church and state are so separate. but as we're hearing at the round table they aren't as you think in terms of voting with your values. >> voting with our values is so important especially in the day and time we're living in when there has been such a great
8:30 am
falling away from morality. people are seeming to live their lives as they see fit without god. and that's one of the reasons why it's important that from my point of view that we support president trump. no one has done more to support religious liberty than president trump. appointing judges who have upheld religious liberties is so important. and so when we think about our faith, this is an election where we really can't say our faith is on the ballot. we have to do everything we can to make sure that our values and morality that we believe in are at the center of everything we do. >> harris: you saw that breakdown of polling. and i just want to be candid about this. why does that break down along race that people who have -- that share the same christian values, it would seem, will vote according to their skin color and hair texture in the polling is what they tell the surveys for kamala harris before they would vote for donald trump.
8:31 am
why do you think that is >> it is unfortunately for identity politics. because of that from a black perspective, our culture we voted democrat 90% of the time. if we are going to progress and make sure we aren't left behind we'll have to diversify and make sure that we start voting values, not identity. that's what i'm promoting and that's what i continue to tell people all the time. >> harris: before i come to you, gillian, i want to bring into the conversation. some religious groups have been critical of donald trump eggs position on abortion. here is what he said at last month's debate and we'll get reaction. >> for 52 years they've been trying to get roe v. wade into the states and through the genius and heart and strength of six supreme court justices, we were able to do that. now i believe in the exceptions
8:32 am
for rape, incest and life of the mother. i believe strongly in that. i'm not signing a ban and there is no reason to sign a ban because we have gotten when everybody wanted, democrats, republicans, and everybody else. >> harris: i wanted you here today you are constantly talking particularly to young women. where does that land with young women? he is giving the power back to the states. >> i'm not just an influencer but a mother myself. you are a mother and you know exactly when that life starts and the bible says when that life starts. i would tell christian voters, evangelical voters that i will remind them that donald trump was the most pro-life president we've ever had in history and gave things back to the states. i think it's up to pastors, local leaders and people around the country to work with their local legislators. it is up to them. trump gave the power to the states. it is up to us to work on our local legislature to do the right thing.
8:33 am
i live in florida. ron desantis gets hate for the six-week ban but the five leading state in abortions. the high population but it speaks to the leadership. what are we doing in our own towns and states? how are we working with our own legislators? >> harris: it is one of the strictest things and you say the numbers -- how is that possible? >> a lot of the abortions happen so early with the chemical abortions and things like that. the numbers are hard to track but that's we are seeing since covid they became more accessible. >> harris: father murray, i see you nodding along. she invoked you by title saying you should work with the legislature. >> i love democracy and i love the republican form of government we have. let's be honest. getting control back to the states is not the real goal of the pro-life movement. that was to protect unborn
8:34 am
children. in my calculus, trump is going to protect children much more than harris. harris went to an abortion clinic two weeks ago and all in favor on abortion on demand. our leaders are not religious leaders in the sense of having to up hold the bible in all its aspects. that's what they do. we're here to remind them they should do what the bible says. >> harris: dr. jeffries, one second. i want to roll this and get your thought. a group called evangelicals for kamala harris put out this ad called keep clear. >> men will become utterly self-centered and greedy for money. >> i've been greedy all my life. i'm so greedy. >> harris: the billy graham evangelistic association has sent that group a cease and desist letter and threatened a lawsuit over that ad. your response. >> first of all, billy graham was a member of my church for 54 years.
8:35 am
he was the greatest evangelist, greatest preacher of our generation. evangelicals for harris is taking that sermon out of context. he is preaching from second timothy three avoiding those who would lead you astray spiritually and he said false leaders in the last days will do this and this. he was not talking about qualifications for president of the united states. again, romans13 says government is to protect us from evildoers. the one function of government. for that function you don't need a saint, you need a strong man or a strong woman. and that's what evangelicals are doing in supporting president trump. it has absolutely nothing to do with hypocrisy. we're being accused of being hypocrites because we support donald trump. i had a reporter ask me how can you support a flawed candidate like donald trump? and i said as opposed to flawless like kamala harris?
8:36 am
come on, let's be real here. none of us is a saint. but we do follow biblical convictions and donald trump is the one who is following biblical convictions about abortion. let's face it. there is a lot of disagreement how to execute that policy among pro-life people. one thing that differentiates us from democrats is this. the democrats have no limits, no restrictions. governor walz said it on "fox news sunday." his minnesota bill had no time restrictions. that means abortions any time for any reason anywhere. that's the democrat position and we have to expose it. >> harris: pastor brooks, i want to ask you, there are pew research has looked at this. why are people, particularly men, leaning more into the faith? >> leaning more into the faith? >> harris: after decades of people kind of leaning out. >> i think people see the direction the world is going and
8:37 am
so much helplessness and they know that in order for us to get things straight we need to have a relationship with god and only god can fill those voids that so many people have. god gives us the hope, faith and everything that we need that is essential for man kind to survive is what god provides. i think men are starting to see the reality of their own shortcomings and their own way of doing things doesn't work. so we see people turning back to god and that's what will make our country the country that it needs to be. when men turn back to god, repent of their sins and go back to their families, things are going to work out. >> harris: amen. gillian. last word. >> i just want to point out to everyone listening that trump lost by thousands in several of these states. evangelicals are the most impactful voting block of christians. 41 million exist. they are self-identified in the u.s. of them 60% are registered to vote and 75% voted.
8:38 am
less than half. look at the bible and what is calling you to do. this is a fight for our children, the next generation and their children and for us to have religious freedom in america we need to vote accordingly. god says you are a light as a christian, the salt of the earth. so we must ask christians have an obligation to not stop that at the voting poll. i tell my son he is the light. it doesn't stop on november 5th and election day. you are a light when you are at that voting block. >> harris: great to have this discussion and to learn more about that important voting block this season. thank you all. so much. all right. well, all prayers for the people in the path of hurricane milton just hours from now making landfall on florida's gulf coast. forecasters are saying it will create unsurvivable conditions.
8:39 am
we know after hurricane helene 14 days ago now, two weeks tomorrow, that they mean that when they say it. catastrophic destruction. our reporters are on the ground in florida where the storm is already showing signs of things to come. plus the white house is playing dangerous word games now over hurricane response. by labeling any questions that we might have or anything that they see that doesn't make them look positive in terms of coverage, they are calling it misinformation. >> disinformation is harmful and repugnant. >> people want to do misinformation. dangerous. >> a lot of misinformation.
8:40 am
here's why you should switch fo to duckduckgo on all your devie duckduckgo comes with a built-n engine, like google, but it's r and doesn't spy on your searchs and duckduckgo lets you browsel but it blocks cookies and creepy ads that follow youa and other companies. and there's no catch. it's fre. we make money from ads, but they don't follow you aroud join the millions of people taking back their privacy by downloading duckduckgo on all your devices today.

>> harris: literally watching this moment by moment now because we're hours away from expecting hurricane milton to collide with florida. conditions have already become treacherous. that water and wind are moving in very fast. and officials there on the ground in florida are saying that it looks like nothing technically that we've ever seen before. they would have the experience in seeing these things because they are in the southeast and they see so many storms. but they are saying this is different. they have said that about
8:45 am
helene, too. we have had a 1-two punch. people who live in the evacuation zones are being told you are running out of time. robert ray is in tampa, robert. >> yeah, extraordinary situation that is developing right now as hurricane milton category 4 churning in the gulf of mexico about to make its way into the gulf coast potentially a landfall near sarasota south of where i'm at in tampa. in the meantime the garrison channel that leads into the hillsborough and tampa bay out into the gulf of mexico. tampa is preparing now. mandatory evacuations in play all across this region and the barrier islands as the rain falls and winds continue to gust here this afternoon in tampa. those barrier islands, serious issues right now. they are expecting up to ten to 15 feet of storm surge. remember, less than two weeks ago hurricane helene ravaged
8:46 am
that area bringing in five feet plus of storm surge pushing in sand and destroying structures, ripping out livelihoods. all those piles of debris still sit on the sides of many of those barrier islands. there wasn't enough time to move them because of mandatory evacuations as milton formed in the gulf of mexico. the wind field has expanded in a big way. many of the communities from naples and tampa will experience basically hurricane conditions like they have not seen in modern times. that is saying a lot considering the fact that two years ago in fort myers beach hurricane ian ravaged the area with 15 feet of storm surge. 12 feet is expected this time. ten to 15 feet of storm surge in these areas. evacuations have been in play for days now. the mayor of tampa saying if you explain in the areas close to
8:47 am
the coast where surge may come in. she said it frankly, you will die. that is very, very serious stuff. the army national guard is on the ground, 6,000 plus members have been activated by florida governor ron desantis. a record number. thousands of utility workers from canada to the mainland united states awaiting to help in the aftermath of this situation. we expect landfall tonight between 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. that doesn't mean that it is over. this will go inland. orlando, jacksonville, all the interior communities in the peninsula will be affected. millions of people under distress right now and thousands have left. so many people have left and out of the state of florida. we know the enemy is out in the gulf of mexico right now. we have been preparing for it for days. now the enemy is coming in. hurricane milton, an historic system, likely to bring catastrophic damage up and down the gulf coast. >> harris: robert, quickly, i
8:48 am
often will hear you talk about the storm speeding up and slowing down. with the wind field growing it is critical to know how long it will stay over land. what speed is it coming in and where do you expect that rate to go? >> well, the forward motion at this point keeps fluctuating. we are looking at anywhere between ten to 15 miles-per-hour. when it does come in. even if it's downgraded as far as a category, category 4. it doesn't matter if it's downgraded to category 3. t no one should consider that the topic. it's the impact and width of the system and storm surge pushed in by the on ward flow and speed of this system. i can't stress enough, we'll be in a wind field here all throughout the night into the early morning hours and by the way, orlando, they could get up
8:49 am
to 100 mile-per-hour wind gusts. nowhere near the coast. that's inland. there are so many people that have evacuated to the orlando metro. i just -- it is just one of those scenarios where if you are in a low lying place right now on the coast and surge is going to come in, please, please get out. it is real. you will die if you don't. and you know what? please take it seriously, sir. this is the real deal. >> harris: there is always one in a group, right? we'll pray for him, too. >> i tell you. >> harris: thank you very much for the latest on all this. i want to also say that with that wider wind field is where you are getting that tornado super cell activity on the east side of florida. we've seen that in sunrise with a confirmed touchdown. robert, thank you. i want to take an aerial view from our drone which shows the devastation hurricane helene wreaked. remember, it has only been a few

days, two weeks tomorrow. parts of north carolina were hit so hard. florida now braces for a potentially catastrophic punch, too, named milton. the powerful storm expected to make landfall along florida's gulf coast. the news we got from robert is how far into florida those 100 mile-per-hour winds could go. i can confirm from talking with people this morning a lot of people did go to orlando thinking with their past experience they'll be okay. we hope that they are. you just heard him say that wind field is massive. the biden-harris administration has taken some criticism, as you might imagine, on their storm surge -- on the storm response. >> the risk of political figures sharing misinformation during this time? >> those who do it, do it to try
8:51 am
to damage the administration. it misleads people and puts people in circumstances where they panic. where they really worry. >> it is profound and it is the height of irresponsibility. frankly, callousness. so lives are literally at stake right now. >> i will divorce the disinformation that is being spread. disinformation is harmful and really repugnant. >> fema and the people on the ground are there to help you. you are entitled to help. there is a lot of misinformation. >> harris: she said from a comedy late show. look, anything that is counter, the truth counter against this administration, and its very slow response from the early hours and days of hurricane helene, anything that you question, it is all being called misinformation. until you get to the secretary there of homeland who now is
8:52 am
calling it disinformation. which means it is tweaked, lies, everything. not just wrong, it is a lie. that's how they want to handle their criticism. white house press secretary karine jean-pierre is insisting a question is misinformation. when she was asked why the white house is sending aid to lebanon during a devastating hurricane season. >> people want to do disinformation and misinformation which is dangerous. >> there is not enough money right now for people in north carolina who need it. that's not misinformation. >> no, your whole premise of the question is misinformation, sir. what you don't get -- >> which part? >> harris: who can take her seriously. we live in a democracy and can ask questions. kellyanne conway is former senior counselor to president donald trump host of here is the deal on fox nation and fox news contributor. straightaway your reaction to this.

>> it's a disgrace. our thoughts and prayers and government and private assistance should be going to those who are suffering and about to suffer more, harris. we used to have phrase in this country partisanship stops at the water's edge with regard to foreign policy and national security. it also has to apply to natural disasters. i think this administration and white house, the kamala candidacy is a manmade disaster. they insist we believe what they say. karine jean-pierre in 2022 confirmed from the podium that fema was spending money on migrants, migrant housing and migrant care. now they want us to believe it's not so and these funds wouldn't be -- mayorkas has been impeached by a committee of the house. why? he took three plus years to even call the crisis of the border, which the majority of americans
8:54 am
and democrats call it a crisis. he came out and lied about our border patrol. brave men and women whipping migrants that wasn't true. they have a history of gas lighting and shading the truth but lying. lying during natural disasters when people are hanging from trees and have lost everything. now you are stripping them of their dignity is beyond. and you know what? i have to say that these softball interviews that kamala harris is subjecting herself to, that's not even going well for her. they need to hide her. they need to put her in biden's basement in wilmington, asap. she is making matters worse. she is callous, no compassion, no competence. and you know what? they made her go from the least popular vice president in modern history to the most popular democratic nominee since obama. none of that is true. she is losing now because of issues like this.
8:55 am
>> harris: wow. kellyanne, i have to say this because the back drop of her at these interviews joking around and drinking beer and doing all of that when the president of the united states cancels his trip abroad to be there at fema and to do what he should have done two weeks ago for the victims in hurricane helene. look, he is going to go be presidential. she is supposed to be in the room for every big decision. she is not in that room. last quick word. >> she is in new york city, the non-swing state of manhattan yucking it up with friends on comedy and opinion shows. whoever gave her the advice to soften her image to make her more accessible doesn't understand how somber these times are. she is an unserious person in somber times when people are losing everything they have in these hurricanes. >> harris: thank you for being with me. appreciate your time.
