blaming donald trump for criticizing his response to the storm. didn't really spell out what the criticisms were. we have already proven he is lying about what donald trump has said. kind of a frustrating and back to that press conference. dana perino, what is he talking about? >> dana: a couple of things. one, they are smarting from having been slow to get to it on hurricane helene. and they are trying to make up for that. and again, that was a huge monster storm. and there was the direct hit. and then there was the aftereffect as it came out through the appellations and caused horrific damage. you have people who still don't have any access to any government help. they have no power. they have no water. it could be months before we actually know some of the full stories there, so i think they are trying to get ahead of this one. but also it just so happens that every election season happens to
2:43 pm
coincide with hurricane season. and unfortunately, there are times when you can be really criticized politically when it is unfair, and years later, oprah can apologize to you on her show because she said things that weren't true at the time. and that can happen. but i think what's going on right now is that you have a president and a governor in desantis who are working very well together, a vice president who is like weight, become too, and there is just no time for that. the media loves a story about misinformation, so those were the questions you got there, not how many assets, do we have enough, will we have more? are you calling elon musk? all of those things, none of those things were asked, only asked, why do you think, and that way biden can say seven times, it's because trump is un-american. >> jesse: and there is nothing
2:44 pm
un-american about criticizing your government. >> greg: that is actually the most -- that is the most american thing you can do. especially when bad stuff is happening. that is your right. you are right. the media, again, who are they to ask about misinformation? they are the bugles of misinformation. and again, everything he said, he said three hours ago. i'm convinced he doesn't remember he said it. it's incredible. no one -- he is actually amplifying misinformation by talking about this stuff. nobody cares. nobody cares. people are too busy. this is something that he is just railing on because it's all he's got. he's just pathetic. he's sad. he was doing okay for a minute there, and then he just devolved. >> jesse: he did. jeanine? >> judge jeanine: the worst part about this is when you look at what this represents, it's if
2:45 pm
you criticize our government, or the government's response, it is misinformation, it is disinformation. the next step is we are going to take away your first amendment right, and they're going to start with criticism of the government. if you recall, john kerry was just saying it is an impediment, the first amendment, to speech in america, that we have to be able to control it. hillary clinton just said we have to be able to control speech. that's not who we are. that is why the first amendment is in fact the first amendment. now the second thing is, dana is right, they were late to the party. third thing is, if you don't believe it, if anybody watches fox news, we have had people on for the last week who haven't had water, who haven't seen their family. we've had rescue people saying there were people in trees dead. all right, you tell me that the american government doesn't have the ability to get there with helicopters, that we have to rely on the ex-military guys to get in there to take care of american people?
2:46 pm
i mean, and kamala, i don't even want to get started with her. the truth is she skipped the prehurricane meetings. she waited for days to even return to d.c. she's been nothing but an actress in this whole thing. and the truth is, they are the ones who said they don't know if they are going to have enough money for the next hurricane, so stop accusing donald trump, who, by the way, has his doral hotel opens all of the people can state in his hotel at his cost, just like he brought elon musk in for star link. >> jesse: and he has raised a lot of money. >> judge jeanine: he is more involved in this than they are. >> jessica: i voted for him, he's amazing. >> jesse: about time. >> dana: and go to break. >> jessica: so i don't -- i don't think that calling out inaccurate information that puts on american citizens in harm's way -- >> judge jeanine: how does it
2:47 pm
put them in harm's way? how? >> jessica: because if you are told the government is not coming to help you, you might become despondent, you might just -- >> judge jeanine: i -- >> jessica: you mentioned in the a block -- >> judge jeanine: what i'm saying is, if you tell the government isn't going to give me money, i'm going to go find some, owing to give me money, not going to kill yourself. >> jessica: you don't -- you don't know what's going on in these people's lives. if you hear that you're only only going to get $750 -- >> judge jeanine: how do they even hear it? >> jessica: by the way, he did say when he was with laura ingraham, the $750 thing, and she corrected him about it, so it's lara trump, it's donald trump, saying we gave your disaster relief money to people who are here undocumented is a, a lie, and it b obviously creates a narrative that is inaccurate and dangerous -- >> judge jeanine: what pot are the immigrants getting the money from? >> jessica: the shelter services pot. >> judge jeanine: but it's a fema pot, yes or no. >> jessica: what you are accusing joe biden of is the
2:48 pm
thing donald trump did in 2019. that's what happened. he was the one who move money out of the disaster relief funds. >> jesse: you see what's happening here? >> jessica: i change my vote, by the way, back to kamala. >> jesse: we are having back-to-back natural disasters, americans are dying, you are talking about donald trump. he is talking about donald trump and you are talking about donald trump. stop talking about donald trump. >> jessica: you can't talk -- >> jesse: it's an active god, it's a hurricane. >> greg: we have to question the bottom-line assumption that if you say something, like an opinion, this is going to cause people to act a certain way -- >> jessica: it's a lie. >> greg: know it's not. >> jessica: you are only going to get $750 is a lie. >> greg: drive to say this? >> jessica: yes, treat me like i'm five. >> greg: jessica -- >> judge jeanine: we will give you $750 if you sign up. how are you going to sign up? where are they going to send the check, you don't have a mailbox.
2:49 pm
>> jessica: saying you can immediately get $750 for basic necessities and fema will continue to give you money whether you have to apply or not -- >> judge jeanine: if you are illegal -- >> jessica: you are just a fletching back to the issue that you like better. >> jesse: again, jessica, fox news alert, is voting for donald trump. national hurricane center giving update on milton. listen to that now. >> might be cut off so please get to a safe place if you have not done so already. do want to mention that also along the east coast of the fort up peninsula and southeastern georgia, from sebastian inlet north worst, the potential for strong winds on the backside of milton pushing water from the atlantic onto the land here on the east coast of florida, dangerous surge expected there, especially as we get into the overnight and early morning hours on thursday. let's now talk about the wind. again, we have seen this wind field of milton grow, as expected, as the peak wins have come down a bit.
2:50 pm
you can see the extent of the tropical storm force winds is large, hurricane wind fewer said expanding, the eye expanding in the final hours before landfall and we are expecting landfall as a major hurricane along the west coast of florida in the next few hours and milton expected to remain a hurricane as it moves across the florida peninsula and out into the atlantic tomorrow. again, hurricane warnings in effect for much of the state of florida, from bonita beach to the river on the west coast including tampa bay, port charlotte, fort myers, from the county line northward, on the east coast and everywhere in between, including places like orlando, melbourne, ocala, saying augustine, much of the central portion of the peninsula, the i-four corridor, especially gusts over the inland areas, tree damage, widespread power outages, very dangerous environment and dangerous situations going to play out from west to east across the florida peninsula as we go from
2:51 pm
tonight into thursday so please be sheltered in a safe place, out of flood prone areas and in places away from windows and doors, any trees that can fall n you, most fatalities due to wind occurred due to trees falling on people, cars, or people in homes. let's move onto the the rainfall threat, which is also substantial and also unfortunately focused in the sae i--4 corridor from atlanta to daytona beach, expect widesprea. some places have already seen six plus inches of rain already and we haven't even seen milton's center make landfall. near to the left of the track of the center is where we will see the heaviest rainfall. the area highlighted in pink is the highest risk of life-threatening and flash and urban flooding playing out tonight and thursday, including orlando, daytona beach, down to sarasota and near melbourne, also risk extending north and
2:52 pm
south of that, maybe in a more isolated fashion. next, i want to talk about the impacts of that much rain and what that kind of catastrophic flash flooding looks like. you will see water entering homes and businesses. people will be forced to be rescued and evacuated from flooded areas. you are going to have flooded roads that will make moving around evacuation difficult, and it's going to be a very dangerous situation to be out and about, another reason to shelter in place and you have this much rainfall in this type of flooding, places flood the don't normally flood so that is another thing to remember as we go through the night. next the tomato threat which has been substantial, played out with many tornado warnings, confirmed tornadoes across central and southern portions of the florida peninsula this afternoon, again this risk extend through the overnight hours. especially along the southeast coast of florida from miami northward to melbourne but also including orlando and tampa come all the way down to the 40 keys, it tornado watch in effect for this area through 9:00 p.m.
2:53 pm
tonight, likely extended into the night hours. in remember you can have multiple potential tornadoes impact you in the same area as these thunderstorms as we see on the radar, just because you had one tornado warning and it moves past you doesn't mean you can't be affected by another potential tornado later on. so as we go through the nighttime hours we want to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings through your phone alerts turned on on your smartphone, noaa weather radio, reach out to your loved ones and friends if you see an issue, you want to be alerted of a tornado warning or flash flood emergency issue especially overnight so you can get to a safe location. let's talk a little bit about post-storm safety. we know the storm is getting started but in the aftermath of significant hurricanes like milton we lose a lot people to post storm accident so widespread power outages, how to keep yourself safe, flashlights
2:54 pm
not candles, portable generator safety, lose a lot of people to carbon monoxide poisoning from improper generator use, and careful any food and water in your home without refrigeration, make sure it is safe to eat. and also be careful after the storm cleaning up, don't overexert yourself, we have a lot of people succumb to cardiac arrest, heart attacks, other medical issues after the storm, and be careful with cleanup equipment, chainsaws, and also be careful in the heat, post storm he is still going to be florida, still october, very warm afterwards, be safe after the storm and not become a statistic. so let's wrap up as with these final key points for milton before landfall in the next few hours, expecting a large area of destructive storm surge with 10 feet or greater above ground level along portions of the west central coast of the float the peninsula, accompanied with damaging waves and water levels that are going to rise rapidly in the next few hours as the eye of milton approaches the coast, and strong onshore winds on the backside of the hurricane will also cause a rapid rise in water
2:55 pm
after the center makes landfall. devastating her case force hurricane force wins, the across the peninsula to the east coasty gusts as we go over the overnight hours and into thursday, devastating hurricane-force winds, particularly with the eye of milton comes on shore along the west central for the coast and again the risk of strong tornadoes will continue through the evening hours come across the southern and central portions of the florida peninsula, if a tornado warning is issued for your area, take shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of your home, and then finally the heavy rainfall and flooding threat will continue to play out through tonight and into thursday. portions of florida, especially the central photo peninsula-4 corridor, life-threatening and catastrophic so please, stay safe throughout the event. keep coming back here at the national hurricane center hurricanes.gov for the latest on milton. get the local warnings and information from your area national weather service at weather.gov. thanks for joining us i'm mike brennan at the national hurricane center.
2:56 pm
>> jesse: national hurricane center warning americans this is going to be ferocious. we are going to see tornadoes and massive gusts of wind. massive flooding. 10-foot storm surge. it's going to be deadly. judge jeanine, horrible to see florida again continuously hammered by mother nature. it's tough. >> judge jeanine: it's so tough. and, you know, the toughest part is when people go back. you have got to try to get your, you know, get out there and put your shoulders back and get moving.
2:57 pm
people going through this suffer all kinds of problems. later, you know, there is like a -- there is like a ptsd for a lot of people. and this hurricane involves significant number of deaths. we don't know the numbers so far in north carolina. this is going to be a very, very hard thing. i think america needs to come together and not criticize but rather lend a helping hand. say a prayer. get over there. i know people going down there to help. they just don't know where to go. >> jesse: we have seen that throughout this impact. we have seen neighbors, charities, volunteers, everybody really pitching in. and local government, too. >> jessica: totally. you see what the country is made of in these times of crisis. i think it was over 19 states that people had come to volunteer from for north carolina. i'm sure we are going to be well above 30 when milton is finished in terms of going down through the whole seaboard there. i feel terrible for the folks
2:58 pm
affected by. this i don't know what it could possibly feel like for someone to say you have a couple of hours to get out of here and you won't be returning. your home won't be here when you get back. to hear that from the mayor of tampa and so it's easy to sit here and say i can't believe anyone would stay with something like this coming, but, it's your whole life. and i hope that they all do leave so that they can save themselves. but, like you said, it's going to be a disaster after the disaster is over. >> jesse: and the president, who didn't really come out ahead of helene coming out way ahead of this twice today got to give you hope that he has assets in place. but, also, to signify that this thing is going to be huge. >> dana: it's huge. you have seen like the uber competence of ron desantis, the governor of florida. like what leadership really incredible. the other thing that is happening is that this storm is hitting at high tide. and what i remember from hurricane sandy, which hit here
2:59 pm
in this area, was that hit at high tide as well. high tide, full moon, all the forces coming together that created that huge storm. and we have six to seven weeks left of hurricane season. it lasts until november 1st. if you remember hurricane sandy was around halloween october 29th or 30th, something like that. we have a ways to go in this season. >> jesse: greg, we were just talking about the people that left some of these states in the northeast to go and live down in florida. and then this. it's tough. >> greg: every place -- everywhere you live comes with some kind of costs. and, i don't know, i don't know why i was thinking about this. but i was thinking about, you know, this last october 7th in the protest in the street. and there is so much displaced low cost empathy. you know, people coming out and they have all this energy and passion for something that is far away that actually has no physical response -- they have no physical responsibility for it. as opposed to people who are
3:00 pm
going to help. you know, actual real compassion. people going to the -- to where people really need you getting them supplies, you know. taking action. you know, offering people rides, helping the people around you it's something that, you know, is what real compassion is as opposed to this kind of performative stuff that we see in the new york streets every day. >> jesse: yeah, we have seen a lot of public relations. we have seen a lot of compassion, virtue signaling. these are the moments when people really do come together as americans. hopefully the politicians can come together and solve this crisis as well. so, stay tuned with fox news, fox weather for the rest of the evening. we are praying for everybody in this hurricane. god bless florida. stay safe, everybody. see you guys back here tomorrow. have a good night. >> bret: jesse, it's a dangerous time down in florida. thank you. good evening, welcome to washington. i'm bret baier. as preparations intensify for hurrican
