>> bret: how many illegal immigrants would you estimate your descration was released into the country over the last three and a half years? >> well, i'm glad you raised issue of immigration i agree with you t is a topic of discussion that people want to rightly have. and you know what i'm going to talk about. >> bret: yeah, just a m number,o you think it's 1 million, 3 million? >> bret, let's just get to the point. the point is that we have a broken immigration system that needs to be repaid. >> bret: so your homeland security secretary said -- >> -- but i'm not finish wanted. i'm not finished. >> bret: it's a rough estimate of 6 million people have been released into the country. let me just finish and i will get you the question i promise you. >> i was beginning to answer. >> bret: when you came into office your administration immediately reverse add number of trump border policies. so, looking back, do you regret the decision to terminate remain in mexico at the beginning of your administration? >> the first bill, practically within hours of taking the oath,

to the point of the substance of the question. a lot of times she talked in circles. and she wasn't really answering the question. so, he had to inject the facts, bring her back to her record, and then give her a chance to respond but she never really answered any of the questions. most of the time deflecting to donald trump. >> she continuously talks about that u.s. citizenship act. acting like we were trying to do something for the border. but then bret last night said that would have given 11 million illegals amnesty, a pathway to citizenship. called the u.s. citizenship act. so, that didn't pass, congress did not pass that. even though congress, he said democrats had control of the house and the senate. that's not what people wanted. people wanted the situation at the border fixed. they didn't want to give a pathway of citizenship to 11 million people. >> he asked a bunch of questions that she did not answer and usually she would just deflect to donald trump. there was one thing that we did

hear last night that was new. in 2019. when she was running for president, she said that she would decriminalize southern border crossers. last night she said, essentially she would follow the law and she would not decriminalize border crossers. so that was new. unfortunately it comes too late for a number of american families. at one point bret asked whether or not the administration and kamala harris owes an apology to the families of victims who were murdered by people who came in to this country country illegal. we told you the story of rachel morin, patty morin, her mother was on with us about 45 minutes ago. and she was very clear. she blames this administration for the death of that woman, her daughter, rachel, who was 37. here's patty, the mother with us.

>> and i talk to people that have lost children and they said the pain never goes away. that i'm going to walk with it the rest of my life. that's an unbearable thing. i want to feel happy again. and i don't know how to do that. it's like this should not be. and if they had secured the borders, and just american people should come first, that's why we elect these officials. to protect our country. not to open the border. >> lawrence: one thing that she-kamala harris expressed in the interview with bret baier is, how she felt bad for the families that were impacted. but she hasn't reached out to the families. in fact, when karine jean-pierre was asked president of the united states going to reach out to these families, continued to say karine jean-pierre she continued to say it was an ongoing investigation. also during the interview with bret baier when he pressed her on these possessions that she had when it comes to the border

and decriminalizing, and the gender affirming care that the government pays for. she said that was a position that was held five years ago. so, is it now the position of the administration that positions that donald trump or things that y'all bring up in his past from five years ago, anything past five years should not be brought up in the conversation? it is just ridiculous. >> ainsley: elections have consequences. when you know that rachel's death was preventable, the people here illegally are murdering -- they murdered lakible riley, jocelyn nungaray and rachel morin, those were mentioned last night on bret baier. to lose your child it, would be so heartbreaking and she said i want to be happy again and i can't be who daughter would be here. she had five children; is that right? and those little ones are growing up without their mom because someone was here

illegally. >> lawrence: not right. >> steve: going, in kamala harris knew there with were going to be a lot of questions about the border and migration. she had some prepared answers. she knew, okay, whatever it is, i'm going to turn it around a couple of ways. one, i'm going to say what we were talking about a little while ago. and this is well, on day one, we introduce thud bill that would have fixed it. of course, it was to give essentially a pathway to citizenship for a 11 million people in the country illegally. the other thing is getting a lot of play by the administration or rather by kamala harris, while she is out and about. talking about the border. whenever it comes to the border, she says look, donald trump is the one who torpedo the chance to come up with this bipartisan senate bill. here's the unfortunate truth for her regarding that rachel moren was murdered over a year and a half ago. >> lawrence: before the bill was even proposed. >> steve: that's exactly right. the bill was not killed until may of 2024, this year. had the bill passed, she would still be dead is the problem.

>> ainsley: and as soon as they took office, biden and harris, they immediately signed all these executive orders to undo, to rescind all of the things that donald trump did at the border. including not continue the wall. they also got rid of remain in mexico. and remain in mexico, if you are an asylum seeker and want to come into our country, you have to remain in mexico. that's why they call it there. >> ainsley: have to stay there until they finish your case that could take years. that way we know who is in the country. >> lawrence: its a huge issue for voters and the administration has -- you have to have a response to that. another issue is the fitness of the president. and they concealed them. and we saw it all, the whole world saw it on the debate stage of what happened. now, the reports started to leak about the fitness of the president, and what's been hang behind closed doors. they took him off the ticket. replaced him with her. well, she was asked about the fitness of the president. and when did she know it? when did she see it? watch.

leaders of our national security community have all spoken out, even people who worked for him in the oval office, worked with him in the situation room, and have said he is unfit and dangerous and should never be president of the united states again. including his former haven't, which is why the job was open for him to choose another running mate, so, that is a fact, that is a fact. >> lawrence: i know she wants to deflect this to donald trump, donald trump has the nuclear codes right now. it's joe biden. and it's the big lie. and she struggled to answer the question. first of all it, took her a while before she got to joe biden. she w was not prepared for this moment. i know she just want to push this aside but it's a real issue. she is lying still about the fitness of the current president

of the united states. >> steve: she was trying to figure the segway to go from the question to what she wanted to say. you know, i don't know the timing regarding when she decided she was going to sit down with bret. i know we all heard about it on monday morning. think a lot of what we heard last night, you know, she had to sit down for 26 minutes to essentially say one thing. and she had to say something that would clean up the mess that she made on "the view" last week. because "the view," which, you know, super friendly venue, they said can you think of anything that you would do differently if you were president? and she said i can't think of anything. >> ainsley: nothing comes to mind. >> steve: that was the mistake. people don't like joe biden's administration. >> ainsley: then she doubled down on stephen colbert. >> steve: right. i think she went out there yesterday faced the music. bret asked her a lot of questions, just to clean that up. ultimately she declared her

independence from joe last night, which we had not really seen. and she said her administration would not be a continuation of joe biden's presidency. and that's the soundbite the campaign for kamala harris wanted out there. so it's out there now. but, you know what? it comes less than three weeks before the election. does it make a difference? is it too late? >> ainsley: i'm glad bret pressed her you are in office and you have been in office for three and a half years. you keep talking about turning the page. what do you mean turning the page? you were in office? her response was well donald trump has been running in which she said you know what i mean. he said no, i really don't know what you mean. what do you mean? >> steve: listen, we got j.d. vance, he is running for vice president. he is going to be with us very shortly to react to last night's interview with kamala harris. >> lawrence: yeah, one thick we are doing here on "fox & friends" we're -- we do diners

already. that's a part of the country that's important. we are talking about middle america. but another part is what is happening in black america right now amongst black men. and there's a growing trend for donald trump. it's the pulse of the community. i went to detroit to see what they're talking about and this is what they had to say. >> lawrence: if the election were held today, who would win the election. >> kamala harris. >> i think it's a coin flip at this time. i really do. >> i'm still in between myself. >> lawrence: yeah? >> at the end of the day i'm trump because i -- my eyes open. i can see that he was doing a lot better than what we are going through right now. you can't even go to the grocery stores right now without making a life decision of what you want to get. you know, you got to compromise. we didn't have to go through that four years ago. >> steve: it's bipartisan. you get both sides there. >> lawrence: what's interesting. we are going to play this a little later. i went to another barbershop

we're not used to this and we are not giving up. >> harris is the first presidential candidate since 1984 to be invited and then not attend. she is, instead, holding events in battleground wisconsin. former president donald trump will be in attendance for the 79th annual event. he and president biden appeared virtually in 2020. cardcardinal dolan estimates ths year's gathering will raise $9 million for catholic charities. in the spirit of the bridging the partisan divide it's been the traditional for both president candidates take turns giving speeches roasting each other. we will have to wait and see what the charity event is like with just one of the candidates. >> steve: all right. thank you very much, brooke. this is too bad for decades here on the fox news channel we have shown the al smith dinner whoever the candidate is, john mccain was there. mitt romney. hillary clinton. there you have got jfk and richard nixon back in 196 -- keep in mind the al smith dinner comes just a few weeks before

germany has been ukraine's biggest partner in terms of helping them defend themselves against russian aggression. so much of the focus here will be setting ukraine on a course to continue to defend itself with the future of the u.s. role in that a little bit unclear with the election on the horizon. >> obviously we want to be in the place where zelenskyy and ukraine from a position of strength is able to start talks with russia. but, till that moment comes, he can count on continuing support and putin cannot count on us letting go of that support. but two things that could really make a difference for ukraine are not on the table right now. biden still hasn't made a decision to green light ukraine's use of long range missiles on targets deep inside russia. that's zelenskyy's number one request. there is also no consensus between the nato countries and offering ukraine invitation to join the alliance. senior administration official speaking ahead of biden's departure says there is not a

consensus to offer ukraine invitation. all 32 allies ukraine is on a irreversible path to membership. the tactics how to encourage that path. biden spoke with zelenskyy yesterday and announced $425 million security package includes munitions and armored vehicles. it's unclear if zelenskyy will make an appearance in germany as biden also meads with the quad leaders including france and the u.k. they are expected to also discuss the war in the middle east which has rapidly expanded and sow concerns full scale conflict with iran. aside from these two big foreign policy goals, this is a bit of a bittersweet goodbye to president biden who has played a role in shaping u.s. policy for more than 50 years. he will receive military honors here in germany which is the highest recognition that a president can receive. lawrence? >> lawrence: great job down there, jacqui, thank you so much. >> thanks. >> lawrence: so the state of the swing state inits right here on "fox & friends." we dive into the battleground

commonwealth of pennsylvania. let's see what happens on the ground right here. all right. so, we're tracking five states obviously there. but pennsylvania we go straight to it. this is what we are seeing right here when it comes to the local polling. >> and we're are going to go. all right. there we go. so we got 47% for donald trump right now 50% for kamala harris. a couple things to keep in mind when you look at the margin of error 3.8. that means it is close to rcp average has donald trump up by 0.3. it is still the economy in pennsylvania. 54% he dominates on that. kamala harris her issue abortion. 56%. interesting enough, when you get to issue number 3, it's immigration. and donald trump has a majority of the support right there. democracy, democracy, democracy, that's the issue democrats are running on right now, 54% for kamala harris, and 51% for kamala harris when it comes to helping the working class. that is something new that we

had not been seeing in other states. moving on. the panic in the campaign -- this is what politico is reporting right now. that when you typically look at democrats, very organized when it comes to the ground game. but for kamala harris right now, they're not seeing that on the ground and this is why. when it comes to registered voters, when you go to buck county, look at this right here. back in 2020, the democrats were up by 10,000. but right now in 2024, they are up by 3500. that's big. these are people that plan on showing up to the polls. let's get a read from someone that has been tracking it all. pittsburgh-based columnist and washington examiner national political reporter celina zia, she knows what is happening on the ground. when you look at registered voters in buck county, why does that matter, celina? >> so buck county has been a traditional swing county. it's gone for both republicans

and democrats. it is outside the considered one of philadelphia's caller counties that is very, very important to watch on election night. watching this growth of republicans in that county is setting off fire alarms in the democratic party. but, also, in lucerne county. beaver county, cambria county which were once really dominant democrat registration and democrat voting counties. because the parties have changed. because the republicans have become more the party of work, cosmetologists, welders, barbers, that right ward shift is going to have an impact in this election i'm actually shocked by. this go back to 2008, democrats have changed the game on the

ground they have infrastructure. it looks like in this election that has changed? what are you seeing there? >> so people forget that between 2008 and 2012, despite the extraordinary effort of the obama campaign, he lost 300,000 votes. >> lawrence: that's true. >> and they didn't go to romney. they just didn't show up. so, you know, i can remember in 2006, republicans have this apparatus called voter vault, republicans insisted they were going to win because their voters were showing up. those voters were showing up but they were showing up for democrats. i think that's the problem right now for the democrats is they are not quite sure who their voters are going to support. and so i think that's impacting how they're turning out voters. and i think it's causing a problem because they don't know who their voters are anymore.

presidency. >> you have to take responsibility for what happened in your administration. >> ainsley: tulsi gabbard joins us for her reaction. what is your reaction when you hear that soundbite. >> one of the many examples of how kamala harris is lying to the american people and assuming that we're is stay tuned to just believe her lies. we have seen the soundbites and clips of her when she was add vo caghtsd and patting herself on the back for the law changes that she brought about that would do this very thing, that would make sure that u.s. taxpayers are covering transgender surgeries for inmates. she advocated for the same for illegal immigrants coming across our border. she refuses to take responsibility and own up to her positions. if her views have changed, fine, people can change. but she has -- the american people deserve the respect enough to know exactly why she has changed in that interview with bret there are a number of examples where she is lying about her past positions in order to try to create this new

version of herself that she thinks will be more palatable to voters and it's offensive in my view. >> ainsley: this is such a neck and neck race, every single vote, every single viewer their vote will matter. >> yes. >> he pressed her on why if he is so bad why is he winning in the swing states? listen to this. >> bret: why, if he is as bad as you say, that half of this country is now supporting this person who could be the 47th president of the united states? why is that happening? are they stupid? >> oh, god, i would never say that about the american people. and, in fact, if you listen to donald trump, if you watch any of his rallies, he is the one who tends to demean and delittle and diminish the american people. he's the one who talks about an enemy within the -- within an enemy within, talking about the american people suggesting he would turn the american military on the american people. >> ainsley: they are so focused on that when he this need to be

focused on the economy. everywhere we go people say we can't afford groceries. he had are worried about her immigration plan. >> yeah, it's an extension of what we have seen over the last three and a half years from the biden-harris administration. people are continuing to be concerned about the high cost of living. and they remember how over this past term in office they patted themselves on the back celebrating the success of bidenomics and just saying well, if the american people only knew how good we are, and what a great job we did, then maybe we would be more popular but ignoring the reality of the struggles that the american people are continuing to face and why so many of them want to see change. they need to see a better economy. they need to see secure borders. and, again, if you get past the propaganda media and kamala harris' lies. this is where i think president trump really has an opportunity. because he is the change candidate in this election. >> ainsley: and what is interesting, this is probably the first time i think, in my lifetime at least, where we know what he stands for because we

north carolina. because it has been below freezing for the last couple of nights, let's take a look at it you mentioned thousands still without power in and around the asheville area, look at the time current wind chill, into the 30's. 31 right now is what it feels like in asheville. we have frost and freeze alerts not only for the carolinas, down towards atlanta, georgia and up towards new england. so 7,000 without power in and around the asheville area and the next couple of days, lots of sunshine, but still very cool. at least for today and then we will go down to 33 tonight back up towards the you were 60's on friday. hyper is really building across the u.s. the west quite a bit of snow in the forecast over the next few days into the weekend where we could see upwards of two feet of snow for early skiing, i think. it's not out of the ordinary to see snow in october but, you know, for us it is, i suppose, over to you, steve. >> steve: going to be great
