admiral. cardinal dolan are really tight. and then you have got the most powerful senator happens to be a new yorker. and then y you have got the forr president right there. and then have you three nfl owners, the commissioner, and then really powerful. >> lawrence: you were there too. what was the reception like for donald trump and were people upset that kamala wasn't there? >> people were surprised that she wasn't there. and when you are in a room full of catholics and these are catholics that are, you know, changing the world. you have so many people sitting on that dais, including brian. oh, well i saw brian on the dais. lara trump came up -- brian didn't know i was going to be there because i was asked to go the day before. so laura comes over to my table and we started talking i said come with me brian doesn't know we are here. there were all these ropes so you couldn't get to the holy people on the dais. so, we just stood in front of the ropes. we said brian!

answered looked at us and it was cute. we had a good time. >> ultimately millions of dollars are raised for various catholic charities. also to help put a lot of kids into the schools. the catholic schools throughout the new york city area. so, you know, it is a tradition. and, we have been talking about this over the last couple of days kamala harris missed a great opportunity. >> lawrence: of course she did. >> steve: we saw donald trump standing there and there is schumer he pats him on the back and says you are doing a great job. one night in new york city where people come together. they sit next to each other. they exchange pleasantries. it's kind of the way politics used to be. it's too bad she wasn't there because it would have showed a different side between the dynamic between kamala harris and donald trump she didn't go. it's too bad. >> lawrence: paint him as a super villain. any time he is with people and gets to act with them on this

level it humanizes them. total win for him she didn't show up. from what i hear the video didn't do so well that they played? >> brian: it bombs. no one said a word. you couldn't believe what you were seeing because she actually tried to be funny in a skit. it was not funny. even when it was on snl in my view. catholics hate this character because it mocks catholic kids in school. i know comedy is comedy. why bring it back in the catholic dinner? >> ainsley: jim gaffigan was really funny. he actually said something about you. what did he say? we'll include it. you will see it. but he also said when he was talking about. -- he plays tim walz on snl. he said donald trump said this about him. most recently tim has been -- no, jim has been playing tim walz on snl and that will be a very short gig. >> brian: he goes it better be. here is a little of jim gaffigan.

the media has begun discussing the phenomena of secret trump voters. i don't know if you have heard about this. people who publicly say they would never vote for trump. but then when they go in the voting booth they do. it's a small group. they're called the biden family. [laughter] president biden couldn't be here tonight. the dnc made sure of that. [laughter] oh, that's -- [applause] $10 million is pretty impressive. do you know what i mean? granted, it could get you a studio apartment in manhattan. which seems, you know, expensive, especially considering you can get a mayor for two business class flights.

it was such a missed opportunity for kamala harris. why do you think she didn't go, lawrence? >> lawrence: i just think that her team has this calculation that they are going to focus on other things and the new traditional way of campaigning is going to these different events instead of the big ones. >> brian: hillary clinton told her not to go. that trump can be brutal. and this was the reason. i would love to see her answer that question because she blew off a lot of catholics. >> ainsley: we have all been to this event the whole point of it is just roast each other. one time you see during the whole season where there is lefty. >> steve: just a few weeks before the election. that's why it's so consequential. that's why we ran it live last night. that's also why donald trump is in new york city. and, you know, we don't see him much during the campaign he is going to be live in this studio within 45 minutes. he is going to be here live from the curvy couch. and we are going to include some

the idf to do any sort of operation in rafah. enough to that this has happened, celebrating the news. the other reason that he is here, the president, is to sort of fortify ukraine's ability to defend itself with the election on the horizon. we heard the german president this morning making allusions to the possibility of another trump presidency, not really hiding his country's anxiety because the future support for ukraine, future support for nato, they feel, is in question. but, of course, if you recall, back when trump had a sort of frosty relationship with angela merkel, it was over the very issue of germany not paying enough into european defense. which they have sense come up to now that there is a war raging in europe. they also sparred over germany buying russian energy. nord stream 2. that sort of thing. so conversations from the past look a little bit different now. now that russia has decided to open up a war in europe. we also know this morning that

mission of wiping out hamas? >> well, certainly sinwar is formidable figure. is he iconic figure and the israelis have been after him since day one as a major military objective to achieve it. and they have finally accomplished that certainly very comparable to killing nasrallah who is the head of hezbollah as well. and the fact that sinwar, you know, has absolutely been the major impediment to a hostage deal certainly opens the possibility of that taking place depending on who his successor is. and listen, i want to credit the a 28 brigade. a regular brigade in the israeli idf who took this guy down followed him into a building and hit him with a tank round. the a 28 brigade is the organization that killed those three israeli hostages mistakenly. this is a major plus for an organization that certainly has

cease-fire seems somewhat irresponsible but calling for a surrender and release of all the hostages seems to make more sense. >> yeah. i think there is an opening here on the hostages, depending on who takes over. if it's one of the political leaders in qatar and three or four of them are there, that becomes the new leader of hamas, they clearly had disagreed with sinwar's obstinence and maybe that door will open and you will be able to get the hostages out. my israeli sources tell me of the 101 hostages, 48 are confirmed dead. and they certainly want to get the rest of them out of there because the longer they stay there, obviously their lives are in jeopardy and we have seen the evidence of all of that so that would be a good thing. prime minister netanyahu is not going to agree to a permanent cease-fire here when he has got thousands of fighters still in
