molly. molly: former president trump headed to battleground, pennsylvania, for a rally today in a small town east of pittsburgh with a special nfl star guest expected and rich edison is live in pennsylvania with a preview of all of this. reporter: it'll be landing at arnold palmer regional airport and the famous golfer was born in latrobe, pennsylvania, and they named the airport after him along with a drink and other gear. this is about an hour east of pittsburgh and former territory for the president and trump winning by 30 percentage points in 2020 and voting underway in pennsylvania as for millions in the country.

casey ramping up efforts to appeal to the center and this reference is in a moment where he sided with former president trump. casey sitedded with trump to end nafta and tariffs on china to stop them from cheating. reporter: they faced off in the second and final debate and sparred over abortion, inflation and sparred on the border and casey said mckormick is out of touch and mckormick slamming casey as a do nothing politician. >> i want to go after price gouging and my opponent won't do it and doesn't think we should do anything about price gouging and excuses big corporations ripping off families and we should hold them accountable. >> i'll get things down and senator casey 18 years in the senate and all the years in office doesn't have a record to run on and devoted himself to attacking me.
10:08 am
reporter: the contest in pennsylvania is one of the most expensive in the country and casey raising more than $40 million at the end of last month and a flood of money from super pacts boosted mckormick that helped close the gap in finances and polling. griff. griff: madelynn, thank you. >> we know trillions and trillions of dollars of spending by the biden harris administration, 100% supported by my opponent. has driven up grocery prices, energy, housing prices have all gone up. >> mr. rogers voted against middle class tax cuts over and over and over again in his record. it's constant. the idea that somehow he cares about the middle class and middle class tax cuts and his voting records says opposite. molly: all right, those were michigan senate candidates and democrat alyssa and republican

mike rogers in another bad battle that could decide the balance of power in the senate. we have mike rogers joining us right now to talk about the hot race, one to watch. sir, thank you for coming on. we appreciate your time on a saturday afternoon. it's a hard fought race. i mean, michigan, all eyes on michigan. the race between trump and harris is very tight but you're in a tight race as well. i want to get your thoughts on what you heard in the debate and also some of the sentiments you've made and michigan, fascinating state for the economy and a lot of focus on manufacturing and your thoughts on where the race stands? >> we're feeling really good and the more people pay attention to the race, molly, the more the numbers shift in our favor. this is a place where people are having a hard time paying for groceries and it's almost doubled in the last four years and we have over huge issues with ev man mandates and again -
10:10 am
100% of the time and people are starting to be i aware and starting to understand she's a bit out of touch with regular and working michigan. we feel very, very good and we're being outspent and look at senate races being outspend 3 and 4-# 1 and what's different in people are connecting to the issues that affect their dining room table. that's why republicans are surging. molly: sorry, i have to wrap you a bit early, mr. rogers. hang on yes, we are. thank you, mr. rogers. griff: sorry, molly and mr. rogers. we want to take you to detroit where vice president harris is talking to folks and possibly taking questions. let's listen in. >> being active it it's what we should all want in our democracy that people understand and it's

their civic duty and that they can make a difference. >> i wonder what you think of elon musk getting increasingly involved in the election from financial contributions to trump's super pact and holding campaign events and attending rallies? >> listen, the most important thing we can all do is pay attention to the issues that are at stake. there's a lot of stake. we are looking at, as i say repeatedly because it is true, two very different visions for our country. and donald trump has proven himself to be increasingly unstable and unfit. and he's trying to take us back ward. he's someone that demeans the american people and has no actual plan for uplifting the middle class. no actual plan that is about any sense ofpt the american people are and what we're capable of doing and that's what's important for
10:12 am
these remaining 17 days of the election and focusing on issues themselves and reminding the american people they not only have a choice but they have the power to decide the future of our country through the election. >> yesterday called out one of the elected officials that faced tremendous backlash since you mentioned his name at the rally. obviously there's a lot of turmoil within the american muslim communities here in michigan. do you think you could lose the election because of gaza and what, you know, overnight there were more strikes and 32 more people killed in gaza. some in hospitals. how risky is it that you could lose the election? >> well, it's undeniable that it is something happening there and i speak publicly all the time about the fact. there are so many tragic stories
10:13 am
coming from gaza and of course the first in the phase of everything that's happened, the first most tragic story is october and what happen that had day and what's happened since. i think what's critically important as we look at this moment is one, acknowledging the tragedy of what has happened in gaza in terms of the extraordinary number of innocent palestinians that were killed and taking that seriously and speaking truth about that and in addition to what i said about what happened on october 7 in terms of 1200 innocent israelis being slaughtered, women being horribly raped and fast forwarding to today with the killing with sinwar, this creates an opening that i believe we must take full advantage of to dedicate ourselves to ending this war and bringing hostages home.
10:14 am
>> but it's not working so far. >> you know what, listen. as it relates to issues in the middle east and in particular in that region, it's never been easy. that doesn't mean we give up. it is always going to be difficult. that doesn't mean we give up. we can't give up. >> you've been doing some more trump rapid response and responding to him in realtime in recent days and it feels like something slightly different from the way you were handling it before and i was wondering why that shift? >> he's becoming increasingly unstable and unhinged and it requires that response. i think the american people are seeing it and in realtime. we must take note of the fact that this is a individual who wants to be president of the united states. i think the american people deserve better than someone that actually seems to be unstable. thank you all. thank you.
10:15 am
molly: that was vice president kamala harris running for democratic candidate for president. mike rogers, thank you for coming back and sticking with us through that and it's a rare thing for the vice president to do. she rarely takes kind of open ended ques questions in this gae type of format and talked a bit about the economy but mostly use that had opportunity to speak to reporters. she bashed former president trump at unstable, un-reliable saying the american people deserve better, but also hammered a bit focused on what's happening in gaza. i just want to get your thoughts there. you're in michigan, she's in michigan today. she has an event coming up just a little while from now with lizzo. she's struggling with some con contin gins on the black vote. >> welcome to michigan, madame

like michigan. it was shocking to me how far away shoves from the issues impacting average michigan citizens. if you notice, she didn't say a thing about it. show attacked trump and remember, he was president. people understand that their lives economically were better and we weren't in three wars and 401(k) was bigger and economic opportunities were larger, your gas prices were about half. your bread and egg prices were almost half. i mean, this is unbelievable to me and now i get why the numbers are moving the way they are. i hope she continues to talk like that because our chance gets bettered and better every day going into november. molly: you touched on my next question and one thing she said about donald trump was that there was no sense of optimism and i guess my question to you would be what do republicans offer that would give the people of michigan, the manufacturing district across michigan hope? >> again, i'm not sure -- she might want to listen to some of
10:18 am
what the president is proposing and we as republicans are proposing. we're going to shut down the ev mandates that's destroying the american automobile industry and you can see the layoffs and going to see buying in and the agenda and gas prices are high. when the president puck talks about cutting gas prices and more american manufacturing that we must have, china about 30% of manufacturing gdp in the world and we've dropped down to 18%. he promises to flip that. that's optimism and people who are working for a living take it for what it was, opt any of them. he said he's going to cut your electric bill in half and we're going to do energy independence plan when he becomes president in the senate. you do the math and that's optimism and that'll impact your wallet. i didn't know what she said and i'm not sure exactly what questions she answered in any of that. that's what i think are worrying
