hezbollah want two year old 203 today. two of the drones were intercepted by the third but we are told came dangerously close to home of benjamin netanyahu he claims it was an assassination attempt by quote agents of iran. this is a brand-new hour of "fox news live" hello everyone thank you for joining us i'm eric shawn hi arthel. arthel: hello eric, hello everyone i'm arthel neville. the prime minister and his wife were not home at the time of the drone attack and there were no casualties the brazen attack by hezbollah comes one day after the group threatened to escalate its conflict with israel. it also comes on the heels of the death of hamas leader yahya sinwa who was killed by idf forces this week. sinwa is widely believed to be the mastermind behind the deadly october 7 attacks on israel. his death has rocked the region already on the edge of an all out war.
1:02 pm
before prime minister netanyahu is defiant saying he will win this war for the people of israel. matt finn on the ground in tel aviv with more on that. >> the assassination attempt happened not far from where i am here in tel aviv. we will get to that in just a moment. but first we want to show you new video just in. the idf shows hamas leader yahya sinwa and his family fling into an underground tunnel prior to the october 7 massacre a little over a year ago for the idf said it found this footage just a few months ago and has now declassified it. very chilly video showing yahya sinwa basically taking cover ahead of the october 7 massacre. also, drone video shows the final moments of the sinwa's life this week. he is camouflaged amongst the rubble and gaza.
1:03 pm
he is sitting in the chair on the left. sinwa was considered the de facto leader of hamas. perhaps enemy number one the mastermind of october 7. his death his sparked speculation that perhaps hamas will disarm. however hamas says sinwa's death will not end and its mission. early today prime minister benjamin netanyahu said there is an assassination attempt on his life. drone was launched from lebanon instructing her his home. the map on the screen, netanyahu and his wife are not homer's office of the drone targeted his house they are calling it an attempted assassination. the strike was one of dozens if not hundreds of rockets launched from lebanon into northern israel. today our fox queue has seen some in the sky be idf set a 51 your old man is dead, 14 people injured today. netanyahu released a video short while ago responding to the attempted assassination. also hamas leader yahya sinwa.
1:04 pm
>> two days ago we took out jen for the terrorist mastermind whose goons and beheaded our men, raped our women, burned to babies alive. took them out and continue with our battle with other terrorist proxies. were going to win this war. >> in response to the attempted assassination of netanyahu today, israel carried out at least three large airstrikes in beirut suburbs. targeting populated areas home to hezbollah offices. the idf has released multiple messages urging the public and not to believe it rumors circulating some hostages were recovered from gaza. at last count there were 101 hostages remaining in gossiper the idf says the rumors are not true they are only hurting that families even more.
1:05 pm
>> around behind the terror. matt finn thank you. arthel: israel's military killed three top terrorist leaders since july including the leaders of hezbollah and hamas. they will keep fighting until israel pulls its forces from gaza. let's bring in retired u.s. army major general he is also the author hunting the caliphate. america's war on isis and the dawn of the strike cell. general, i'll start by asking should israel maintain pressure? and if shut so how should that be carried out? >> good afternoon. yes, israel should maintain pressure. once you have your foot on someone's neck, on the enemy's neck you keep going. they have momentum. there fighting on multiple fronts they have the leadership
1:06 pm
was decimated however has immense capability they have tens of thousands of missiles and drones that can be fired at israel. but israel must keep up the momentum. the same thing with hamas. hamas is some level of capability. their ranks have been decimated also as far as their leadership. it's time for israel to press the attack hence a better and stronger position as far as peace overtures in the future. but right now they must launch the attack they have the advantage. >> i want to get to the peace talk and a second or the possibilities you mentioned how strong hezbollah is can they overpower israeli defense systems? >> if hezbollah were to fire all its missiles at a time the answer is yes. it's highly unlikely they will
1:07 pm
do that. but they have that kind of capability. >> what would happen should it come to hand to hand combat? guerrilla warfare? >> they can go block to block house to house and show it and gaza they've shown in southern lebanon. israel still has the advantage. the issue now also is who is backing hezbollah and hamas. which is of course iran. iran as part of the problem obviously we are also waiting israel's response the reigning attack. next to follow-up questions one is about iran. how do you stop ironic? he also mentioned we ask about hand-to-hand combat you say idf
1:08 pm
is what about these civilians in lebanon? the general population, are they in danger? i would say yes to an extent. as long as hezbollah hides behind civilians, civilians are in danger. that puts more pressure on the israelis to be more selective where they are attacking hezbollah. but allredfact.com tate is putting an danger pipe hiding behind civilians. go ahead. >> no, you go ahead. as far as iran, iran has obviously a lot of capabilities. so that it is in fact a deterrent. with two historic attacks by iran against israel this year. in april 2024 and october 1.
1:09 pm
so whatever the targets are that israel is going to strike, it's got to be a deterrent. that would probably beat strategic targets like the oil refineries. possibly nuclear capability but certainly the oil refineries. an oil production. arthel: idf is definitely capable of specialized pinpointed targets. let me move on to this. i want to read a statement from national security council play some soundtrack national security councilman kirby. >> look at what the israeli defense forces have been able to do against hamas. they really decimated their leadership now it knock at the top leader himself. they have, without question, completely eliminated any immediate threats that hamas would pose for a military
1:10 pm
perspective. the hamas is in it much, much, much we can position than it was before. >> to your points, what does this mean for a cease-fire and for the hostages still in gaza? >> i think insistence on a cease-fire at this point makes no sense based on the reality on the ground. the israelis clearly have the advantage. ultimately this to be settled in peace talks. so eventually a cease-fire. but hamas has been very defiant. there's still more fighting that needs to take place so that hamas is in the position where they will need to sue for peace. ultimately this will be settled at the peace table if there's going to be any kind of a long lasting stability for both israel and the future palestinian state. that's what needs to take place.
1:11 pm
arthel: unfortunately it does not seemed like the more immediate solution and getting hostages home by way of a cease-fire. it's not going to happen right away. at least what i am understanding understand youare saying but ifd understand confirm that. >> hamas is not in a position right now to bargain hostages. what prime minister netanyahu said he released the hostages we will allow your fighters to live by the best way hostages can come back and be released. absolutely thank you. eric: former president trump gearing up for a campaign event is going to happen late this afternoon for just outside of pittsburgh will be joint there
