my view, from kamala who still can't answer why she's going or how she's going to the end inflation if other than price controls which, as trump said, is the maduro plan. so this is, i think, a clearly winning message, winning the love of many of the steel workers there who gave him a hard hat and came up and said this about him -- >> the9 president saved the steeler industry with tariffs. you saved it with tariffs. you're my hero, and you're the greatest president if ever. >> we love you. >> we love you. charlie: so, you know with, one of those basic rules in politics is a politician should never put a hat on. everybody remembers michael dukakis and how ridiculous he looked in the tank. john kerry put on the bunny suit many 2004, devastating. there are two politicians in modern times who can get away with put on hats, ronald reagan, because he looked great in a cowboy hat, and donald trump. the guy wear withs, he can wear a hard hat. he's not afraid to do it, is and i think the reason it works for him is because he's not trying to fake something. rachel: right. charles: he's not trying to be something he's not. he's clearly not a steel worker, but he's been around them long enough that he can put them on -- rachel: well, he's been around construction sites, so he's used to to -- i will say i hedged a little bit at that moment, i thought, is he going to mess up his hair? because i know he loves his hair

ooh too. wail. will: will i've had some conversations with friends about politic, but the direction are the of the republican party after donald trump. these images in this moment represent, i think, an important step forward. this embrace by union workers, steel workers, blue collar, labor, pennsylvania is, is the net positive, is the shift. st the change in the republican party due to the donald trump, and i think and i hope there's not a step backwards. this -- i don't know if it's going to be the deciding factor in this election, buts this is a massive change, i think, for republicans. charlie: think about how long it's been since pennsylvania, michigan and wisconsin were swing states. will: yes. charlie: it's been since reagan that they were swing states. nobody, no republican could even compete in those states. and that's a transcribe concern tribute to the donald trump, but also, as you say, i i think the

republican -- rachel: i saw it in realtime in the district my husband had. it had been blue for 432 the years. 42 years. sean gets elected and then donald trump, and suddenly it is solidly red. and you saw that in realtime. and, yeah, i think that's what we're seeing. charlie: what are the -- what were the issues in sean's first race in. rachel: obamacare was a big issue but so was just the economy in general that was suffering. donald trump took advantage of that. and, by the way, he gets a lot of pressure. you're right about this, you can be sure that there are lots of donors that he has to talk to who are not happy with that position or that movement in the party, and it takes a really strong leader to go, i'm sorry, this is what's right for the country. will: in our lifetime, to your point, charlie ohio was a swing state -- charlie: florida? if. will: ohio is not a swing state.

florida -- charlie: we lived in florida which was the only good thing about covering can campaigns. will: well, now georgia is a swing state, and that's where -- charlie: shorter beaches though in georgia -- will: beautiful cities though, savannah. kamala harris giving attention to georgia in the coming days. she was in detroit with lizzo, and she said this about this election. >> i'm not going to spend any more time on this dais because we've got 17 days to get this done, and we're not going to be able, we're never -- we're not going to be able to get these 17 days back. and what i think we all know is on election day we don't want to have any regrets about what we could have done these next 17 days. and on november 5th and at the end of that a day, we're going to look at each other, and we're going to say, yes, the power was with the people -- [cheers and applause] and we made a difference. and that's the beauty of who we

[laughter] charlie: i love detroit. i lived there for years -- rachel: you loved it for all the wrong reasons. charlie: it was a great news town, fire, murders, dysfunction, corruption, all of it. but that's what kamala's going to turn america into, into disproi. when donald trump made that inappropriate comment last week saying, putting down detroit, you know, everybody said, oh, you know, the brilliant people are like, oh, it's going to the kill him in michigan. well, you know, a lot of michiganders sit around thinking to themselves, they agree that detroit is not kind of -- they have kind of a love-hate relationship with detroit. rachel: yeah.

charlie: they're proud of it because it's such a funny place, but it's not exactly a functional place. rachel: so interesting. will: well, you are to own lawrence jones -- our own lawrence jones has been with donald trump recently. they went to a barbershop in the bronx, sat down together and here's a little bit of what you will see tomorrow the here on "fox & friends" with lawrence and donald trump. >> so when you were president, i know for a pact i was able to do this three things, see money, save money, spend money. how can we make the economy come back? >> how do you get to the bottom of it? >> so here's what we're doing. number one, it all began with the oil. they screwed around with what i did with oil. we had the greatest -- we were energy independent. you remember back four, five years ago, $1.87 for a gallon of gas. we actually had it lower. $1.87. now it's at $3.50. but it was much higher. they brought back my policies to break even, but by that tame the

damage -- time the damage was done, and now you have inflation, the doss are so high, they -- costs are going down. much more importantly and quicker, we're going to drill, baby, drill. you heard that, right? drill, baby, drill. rachel: you know, i love that this is such an interesting scene because you see donald trump there who understands the fundamentals of the economy and what actually is the root cause, favorite word of kamala harris, of, you know, the inflation and economic problems. he can identify where this all starts which was energy and climate radicalism on the left. and then he's sitting back around with mostly a bunch of latinos, and these people also understand on a very fundamental basis. when i went to allentown, pennsylvania, i spoke with a guy who owned a barbershop there, and they feel it every day because he's, like, tips are lower ever since -- that's a really incredible way to gauge9 where the economy's at.

i love that lawrence is at these barbershops, because i feel like these are the real people who know what's happening. will: similar to the union, this represents a shift to the republican party. there's a lot of conversation about what the polling will be, what the difference between polling and people actually showing up to the ballot box, but you see a shift, and we've talked about it extensively, of demographics when it comes to black and latino voters. and just, again, it's an an anecdote. in detroit there's a local rapper, very famous, i think his name is trick trick. he was on stage with trump yesterday, antonio bell -- antonio brown, not common for a black football player -- rachel: antonio bill was savage. he was going after tim walz,

calling him tampon tim, it was incredible. i look at these polls, i'm confused. maybe, charlie, you can help me understand this. 700% of the country -- 70% of the country saying we're going in the wrong direction but we're in a dead heat? i don't understand that. charlie: absolutely baffling. i don't get that either. but, you know, talk about changing the republican party, not only are we -- have we rejumbled all of the swing states, but -- and i don't, you know, is donald trump going to win the bronx? probably not. but the point is he's going in there and asking for their vote. and what's more insulting than decades of republicans refusing to even walk into the bronx? when trump did a rally -- will: or democrats who don't feel like they need to -- charlie: oh, exactly. wail. will: take it for granted. charlie: but when donald trump did that rally in the bronx a couple of months ago, i think he was the first candidate, i think since maybe '84, republican, the

actually go to the bronx and ask for their vote. and, you know, maybe it doesn't change the outcome to have the election there or in those precinct, but it's the way democracy's supposed to work. rachel: it is. we talked about this yesterday, charlie. i mean, this is an incredible opportunity for the republican party, this opening that trumps has had for, or opened up with black, hispanic and, frankly, just working class. it's not a racial thing anymore, just a working class thing. charlie: right. rachel: but there is something very unique about donald trump. so for are republicans to think that when trump is now off the political stage whether t after this election or after a his presidency, you know, in four years, don't assume those people are always going to be with you, because there's something very withdrew anemic about a donald trump -- unique about donald trump that gives him the ability to do that. will: and this in the face of

to catholics, and kamala has nothing going on in that. is that a huge mistake? >> it is, i believe so. kamala harris has mad made a massive gamble here, calculating she can build a new political coalition that excludes people of faith including catholics. and as yaw know, the democratic party has been the home of the majority of catholic voters for decades, and yet we've seen on issue after issue over the last several decades a systematic leaving behind of catholics to the point where harris is saying i no longer need you and get out of my way. rachel: in fact, her campaign manager, supposedly there was some us thing about why she didn't go, and she's blaming her campaign manager. in essence, the conversation was about the campaign manager said, hey, this will offend if our lgbtq and our very progressive voters. better you not go. so i think your point is well

taken. i want you to look at this poll, this is with catholics. so harris has 57-42 with trump, but here's another interesting poll, that's among all catholics, but white catholics, 61% for president trump, only 34 with hispanic catholics. that's an interesting number especially as you're seeing hispanics, men in particular, moving towards donald trump. what do you make of those numbers? >> well, we're seeing even better numbers for the president in system of these swing states, particularly in the upper midwest like pennsylvania, michigan and wisconsin where the catholic vote makes up nearly 30%. and i think what we might be seeing is really a watershed moment where longtime tradition of many catholics voting for democrats have finally said i didn't leave the party, the party left me. and they are now looking seriously at donald trump not just on a lot of the obviously traditional social issues like life and religious liberty, but on the border, on the economy and on, frankly, jus
