thank you, gentlemen, for being here. congratulations on another book together. >> i know. we're really happy. i don't know the country has ever needed heroes more than we do now or people willing to sacrifice. this is what it's all about. we were talking about we have sports heroes, great, dodgers and yankees and kc in football. what these people do every one of them. you talk about woody williams. it is like the best day any sports hero ever had. it is so intense. it's unbelievable the stories in the book. >> ainsley: which one stands out? >> you know, they all do. it is an unfair question in a sense. they all share the same great personification of valor and courage. i think from one of my favorites colonel ralph puckett. a korean war veteran. he was the only live interview we did in all the books we've done. colonel puckett was just heroic as the day -- as anyone could

imagine in korea. >> you have a think on woody williams. unbelievable. the whole book is full of these stories that blow your mind. matt has been in heavy duty combat and for him to go i can't believe these stories is just stunning stuff. >> ainsley: set up woody's story for us. >> woody is a young marine and during world war ii and he is just like all these stories the kid next door. and he winds up in the pacific theater and is coming ashore at iwo jima and met with the horrific scenes of the previous battle and he sees the flag and intense japanese, you know, gunfire coming along the beaches and like everything, it is tense and then it just erupts into violence and it's this close. >> i talked to matt about that. i said how close was the action?

you are this close. you are this close. >> ainsley: he survived. >> he did. here is matt. >> ainsley: we know your story. >> this is a book in my opinion that people should read and pass it on to those high school kids and the college kids. if they really understand what sacrifice is all about and what people have done, duty. >> ainsley: he went on woody went on and awarded the medal of honor. your interviewed his grandson. he said to his very last breath any grandfather believed he was the caretaker of the medal of honor. i didn't earn it, he often said, i wear it for those marines who lost their lives protecting mine. so that generation, these individuals that you interviewed, they really are so selfless. >> almost every one of them. they would say that. one brought the whole team to the white house to get the medal of honor. this is about all of us.
