9:00 am
and the indirectly helped. we need this people still, we need that support. we are good on water though. we have plenty of water. we are good on water. but we have pallets of water laying around if anyone needs water. but we are very humbled and honored that you guys keep us in our minds and in your prayers. we are going to need that for quite some time. so as they are still families displaced from each other, pray for peace for those folks, some peace of mind. mr. president, i can't thank you enough for coming out. in the back of my mind a made a
9:01 am
comment to somebody, trump would just show up, trump would just show up. we need that shot of hope and honor and we need that -- we need to know we are going to be okay and not forgotten. >> you won't be. you won't be. thank you very much. great job. and mike, the owner of pineview buildings this year. mike, please. >> yes, we had a business right across the street with this' want an old river on the back of it. and we lost everything, we had seven plus buildings when we lived here, and there was not one building that was ours, but there were houses and trailers and tinkers they returned across the property and we lost a business, but there were a lot of people that lost everything including love ones. and i believe that you can serve as a great to this community
9:02 am
right now and the reason being is i think that god has given you indomitable spirit and no matter what gets thrown at you, you find a way to press through. and that will serve as inspiration in this community to press on and move forward. i can't think of anything i would rather have men a warrior leading our country, a warrior who with the help of god and with faith and prayer will lead this community, these communities in this country as a greatness. so thank you for being here. >> i never heard anything. and no speechwriter could write that. >> if you don't mind, just because my heart is about -- do you mind if i pray for you? and all of those that hear your prayers, would you join with me in this prayer? father, i think you for this man that you have raised up in this
9:03 am
moment in the season for your purposes, and i pray that you would anoint him, that things aren't done just by mites or by power, but by your spirit, so i ask that you would anoint to president donald trump and give him a spirit of wisdom and understanding and insight as he moves to lead this nation back to greatness. in jesus name, i pray it. >> wow. that's something. that's incredible. and i appreciate that from both -- from everybody. that's really nice. i would like to thank some of the people that have come. senator ted budd has been so fantastic. a great senator, and become a very popular senator. highly respected in washington, d.c., and he is here and i would like him just to say
9:04 am
a couple of words if you don't mind, please, come on up. >> mike, i want to thank you for your prayers for the president and for this region, because people who first looked at this and said this might be days or weeks, but this is going to take months and years and mr. president i'm grateful for you coming here. and i want you to know that the president and i spoke and i spoke with his team and he was like one can we come to north carolina. and i said soon, mr. president, but there's a lot of work to be done. and nobody understands that like a builder, how to rebuild something. so mr. president, i appreciate you coming here. your heart for the people, your love for them and it will take a while to work for western north carolina and i don't think anybody running for office understands it as well as you do, so thank you for coming, for your understanding and her love for this country, and we look
9:05 am
forward to making what's a great area greater once again. god bless you. >> thank you. great job. interestingly i came right after the storm. i would like you to know that and i came to north carolina, but this was so rough, so bad we cannot come in. did not want to come and actually actually, because i wanted you to do what you had to do. i do not want to be in anybody's way, but we were here immediately after the first storm. then i said you have to let them just work for a little while. believe it or not, a lot of progress has been made. you look at how it is and it's hard to believe, but a lot of progress has been made. it was an honor to be here very early, thank you very much. also along with the senator who really has been doing fantastically well. i am proud of him. representatives chuck edwards and virginia foxx, okay, where's
9:06 am
chuck? there he is. >> thank you, mr. president. thanks so much for taking the time to come to western north carolina. we have seen other folks do a flyover. it is so heartening to see you here with some dust on their shoes, actually seeing what is taken place me in so much to the folks here whose lives have been turned upside down, whose homes have been destroyed. whose loft went back lost love ones and businesses have been destroyed. we are so incredibly honored that you are going to help keep the emphasis on us rebuilding this beautiful community. for those of you who did not get to see edits, i offered -- because you know, i also own mcdonald's restaurants and i know that you perfected your skills behind the counter a day or so ago and it was my honor to present president trump with the french fry certification pin --
9:07 am
so. thank you so much for being here. god bless you. >> that is really nice, thank you again. thank you very much. tim moore is here. you are very special. house speaker who has been a great friend of mine for a long time, and thank you very much for -- where are you, tim. >> i will just say as the speaker of the state house i've not gotten a single call from the white house, but this man and his team have been in touch with us from day one. mr. president, i appreciate that and looking forward to seeing you back in the white house. [applause] >> and shane hilliard, your wonderful sheriff. appreciate you. you have been busy a little bit, a little bit busier than you are supposed to be. thank you, sheriff, and a friend of ours, linda mcmahon who has been incredible was an georgia in charge of the small business group in washington and it was a
9:08 am
big business and she did incredibly. they told me the other day that you are the best there ever was at that. and we appreciate it very much. thank you very much, linda. i also want to thank everyone who supported the gofundme. we set it up right after the storm left almost immediately and i authorized a lot of people to help. and those affected by hurr hurricane helene were badly affected, and nothing can really take -- make amends for what happen especially when it came to the property where you have bigger and better and nicer, but the death was horrendous. antedate we raised $8 million of which 7 million has been distributed to the various charities that are helping in the rest will go, and if you folks have some recommendations, i would like to have them. we helped franklin graham who has done such a nice job and
9:09 am
some others that have done a great job. and if you have recommendations, i would like to have them. because we have more, and we have more already in the till. we raised $8 million, which is great. that's contributions from a lot of great people. but give us those recommendations if you would. i would like to take them and do it the way that you would like to. thank you very much. we have distributed these funds directly to the organizations already, and there will be a lot of additional funds coming. today i am promising the people of this state that's when i am president if i am president, i feel better saying that, because you never want to take something like that for granted. there was say please, please, don't say that, sir, say when. we have to go vote and we have to get out and vote, and we can't have four more years of what we just had. i will tell you. but i will support and complete
9:10 am
the rebuilding of every town and city that was devastated by the hurricane and/through every bureaucratic barrier that you are having already and having problems with right now. i understand pretty badly to help you get back on your feet and i will personally recruit businesses from all over the world to help restore the prosperity to the region. there will be a lot of businesses are going to be moving back to our country through the proper use of taxation incentives and tariffs, one of the most beautiful words that nobody understands or very few people understand. he understands it. but we are going to be using tariffs and good proper taxation and very importantly incentives and we will have a lot of people moving back to your state and this region, and they will be very interested in north carolina. we will stop throwing arm of no money overseas and let our
9:11 am
country be first. we've been helping countries for 50 years, we have been helping them for 50 years, never stops and when we help from them, they are not there. so, that's the way it is. but it is vital that we not let this hurricane that is taken so much also take your voice. you must get out and vote. the polls are open for early voting every day between now and november 2nd and you know, the thing that amazes me most with the area as this and others where it is so hard to vote, people have lost their homes and sometimes members of their family, you know, they have set a record in voting. can you believe it? i mean come on last year everything was beautiful and perfect, no problem. they beat last year, they beat every record and presidential records too, your voting records have all been beaten and people i don't even know where they are living. their house is gone and they were standing in line ready to
9:12 am
vote. so you have amazing -- you have amazing people here come michael. really amazing. one of them is michael otley was the head of your republican party. he was so good and did such a great job, we won the state twice, he did such a great job i said that's the guy i want, because he was very much into stopping this deal. we don't want the steel. we won a fair election an honest election and you have it here. he hired 603 lawyers, can you imagine that? and i said who is that guy? that's the guy i want and only has the whole party and i can blame him if something happens and i will say, well, i made a mistake. i will send him back, but i don't think that's going happen based on what we are hearing from early returns, which are really phenomenal. the early returns are phenomenal. if you had to relocate because of the storm coming you do not have to return to your home.
9:13 am
you can request a ballot for your temporary housing location, but you have to do it today. today is your last day, so go out and get it done and go vote, but so far i don't have to talk to anybody. you are literally setting records with this kind of devastation. i think it's an amazing tribute to take something like that and make it happen. so to everyone here in north carolina, we love you and together we will pull it through. we bless you and god bless you and god bless america. we are going to make our nation stronger and better, more beautiful. and a more joyful to use a phrase from somebody else that doesn't really believe it, but we will make it a more joyful place. we will do things that nobody thought was possible. we will have our country back and grab our country and take it back. we are a nation in decline. we are not going to be a nation
9:14 am
in decline for much longer. that i can tell you how we will make america great again. very simple, a very simple slogan. the greatest movement in the history of our country. we are going to make america great again. i would like to ask if i might come on michael watley to come up and say a few words. he has been working about 29 hours a day i would say on average very hard and please come up and say a few words, mike. >> thank you, mr. president, as a son of western north carolina i was in the county with some first recently and got to see the devastation that all of these communities have had. i think it's an trend miss -- tremendously important that you are here. i think that you and your focus on making sure that western north carolina is not going to be forgotten is absolutely critical. i am so thankful for the
9:15 am
thousands upon thousands of volunteers that are coming into western north carolina to help these families appear to help every family here in western north carolina. you cannot put words on what a value it is and the fact that this is a strong community. this is a community of faith, and this is a community of family. and north carolina, western north carolina is absolutely going to be back, they are going to be stronger than ever and with your leadership we will make sure that this part of the state and country is never forgotten and we will be back again, thank you, mr. president. >> thank you very much, and i am also in north carolina in the end, but i grew up in the north side of the storm. for this one did, up and the trajectory it did to this area
9:16 am
was nothing short of just astounding that that happen. and i am so sorry. i had the privilege of a lifetime serving at the sba administrator under president trump. and i can tell you sba would've been on the ground with fema in this area working to get people back in businesses and getting their home loans process because we want the economy to get back on track. so hopefully you will have that service if you don't have it now, you will. thank you very much, mr. president. thank you. >> do you have any questions for us? >> thom tillis asking for congress to reconvene. do you expect to ask your colleagues? >> i will be in favor of it, yes. i would be in favor of it. in theory, they are supposed to have it, but they spent a lot of
9:17 am
money on bringing illegal migrants, people that came into our country illegally and taking them in and all of the money they have spends, numbers that nobody can even believe, so they don't have any money for the people that live here. they went to one of the worst storms in the history of the country. and it's a shame. they should have the money. they spent money that i don't believe they are supposed to be spending for that. so i think it's a disgrace what happened with fema and what's happening with the rescue effort that was almost nonexistent. i would like to thank the man who is really incredible, when i came here, but not here because it was not the appropriate thing as i told you, but i got to know a couple of people from north carolina, officials that were terrific doing a very good job and they said, do you know elon musk.
9:18 am
i said i have been another gentleman, what's your problem? they said can you get starling? that was communication, because your communication and i see the polls write down all over, almost no communication here and i said what you mean? he said we need star link and we can't get it, there's nobody that knows anything about how to get it. so i called elon musk and literally actually before i hung up, they called that man that i spoke to it i said elon, i just asked you and we are still on the phone, how did you do that? i don't think he wanted to tell me, but it was pretty amazing and he got it here in record time. there were some delays that should not have happened on behalf of the federal government, but that was straightened out. but he had starling cure in your communications went from nonexistent probably almost better than it was before and so i want to thank elon musk for having done a great job. he took care of a very important
9:19 am
need, probably saved a lot of lives because this was really an emergency and you had it here almost instantly. it's very hard to get too i'm pretty popular and very hard to get, thank you. >> mr. president. clearly they are looking to you to save them and bring them relief and what better way than through the white house, and know that you're happy with early results, are you satisfied with everything the state is doing to help get people to the ballot box? are you satisfied? >> i'm not hearing the good things about the governor here like i am in georgia as an example. i am hearing the governor in georgia has done a very good job and i don't really know the governor here, but i'm not hearing that he has done a very good job, so that's the only thing i can say, and certainly you have all heard the same stories that we all hear that fema has done a very poor job. when we had a problem, we did
9:20 am
record rescues and the job that it did under the trump administration was really incredible. but they had spent in all fairness they had spent hundreds of millions of dollars doing other things. things that i don't think bear any relationship to this money. they were not supposed to be spending the money on taking an illegal migrants, maybe so they could vote in the election, because that's what a lot of people are saying why they are doing it. i hope that's not why they are doing it. so they really did not have any money. and now they are saying can we have a special vote, let's have a special session, i am in favor of that, but somebody has to get back to why did they spend hundreds of millions of dollars on something that they were not supposed to be spending in on, okay? >> [reporter question]
9:21 am
>> voting is the least of the problem, they have to vote, but they have to survive. the early voting has records, when they told me that i was shocked. i got a call from michael whatley he said, so you're not going to believe this, but they are setting records and north carolina voting and it's just that they are great people. they lost their house they are standing outside, obviously we want to vote, but we want them to live and survive and be happy and healthy, because this is really a tragedy. it's really something. >> on to that point, is there any concern or reason that you have two worry about the results and north carolina to be critical? >> no, i think in a way it's the opposite. we are so impressed and i think they have a pretty good system here. and michael watley was responsible to a certain extent. in the new people that took michael's place i think -- i've not heard any complaints
9:22 am
about that. the amazing thing is they have come from -- nobody even knows, everybody knows them and it was like they had no home, they stayed in the woods, i heard cases where they are staying in the woods because they wanted to vote and then they voted and then they went wherever they went and are going to come back hopefully and rebuilt. and hopefully i will be the one that helps them rebuild and we will help them. but these are incredible people. an incredible spirit and heart, very few people -- i mean, who would do that? it's a great state. >> i don't know if it helps, i don't like to think about it like that, it's a tragedy. it's a tragedy. but the fact that they have come out and voted in record numbers is pretty amazing to me. >> mr. president, if you could speak directly to those voters who lost everything and then went to the polls and voted, what would you say to them? >> the first thing i would say is we love you, because that is really something special,
9:23 am
really. for them to do that i was surprised. i figured we would have 50%, 30%, record votes compared to the last elections, the last presidential elections even. but compared to any election and you know, you are reporting on it also. i think that you are probably surprised like i was. but i would just say it special people. these are special people. these are people with heart and that love your state. they love our country become a very special people. i was -- i would have been, honestly, i would've been happy if we had 50%, how could it be possible? and these tend to be donald trump areas, not to get to politico political, but they are trump areas, and that they would come out like that is a great sign. >> i've seen some pretty bad devastation. i've seen the tornado devastations and they are pretty incredible. and this is a much more spread out, but you would see a line
9:24 am
like it was cut by a razor blade of a tornado that went through an area and it was literally a foot left, that was perfect and a foot right it was down the dirt, big trees ripped out and thrown miles away, the power of the tornado, so i've seen that, that was a much narrower thing, but you certainly did not want to be in the way of it. i've seen trailer parks where they weren't even -- they were there and very nice and they were literally not a thing left, the pipes were ripped out of the ground. so seen some pretty bad ones. i've seen some really bad ones, yeah. >> [reporter question] >> climate change, you know, we want, as i say, we want
9:25 am
crystal-clear beautiful water and we want clean air and we had that during the trump administration, but we also had the best job numbers in the history of our country. we weren't losing jobs. we want -- in terms of climate change, because when you look the rest of the world and you look at china and you look at the fact that they spend no money on climate change, i mean, john kerry goes over any speaks to her president xi president xi n/a yes him yes him yes him and then laugh at him as he leaves. we spent a lot of money in this country. it's a double entendre. but we had the cleanest air on record in the cleanest water on record and that's very important. and we also had the best economy in the history of our country. so we had everything going well. and yes, so i am very much into the ads, but i really focus on the water and the air, very important. yes, ma'am, please.
9:26 am
>> [reporter question] >> undecided, well, it's hard to believe that you have undecided voters. i do hear about them, but you possibly do. but i think if you believe in what is happening with the polls, if you believe in what is happening, they have a new phenomenon now, we will call them the betting polls. i don't know if people are gambling on them. i can't imagine that's a proper thing to do, but perhaps they are. but one of them just came out, i guess the big one that we are 63/33, something like that. it's a pretty big margin, i don't know if they know what they are doing or who they are, but it's a very big hole and they quoted all the time on television. and we are at 63 and they are in the 30s. meaning day, meaning her. but i don't think she is qualified to be running. i really don't. and i think she is a threat to
9:27 am
democracy, our democracy the way that they took it away from joe biden. then i am not a fan of biden, but remember he got 14 million votes, she got no votes and was the first one to quit out of 22 people and is running. you will probably call that a threat to democracy, but we seem to be doing very well in the polls, thank you. yes, please. >> was 16 days till the ele election -- >> i have gone 52 days without a day off, which all of these people will respect, but they do the same thing prestigious lee, for better or worse we are workers, i don't know if it's the best thing. a lot of them did not have to be, i did not have to be. i could've been at a beautiful beach, but i would much rather be here with you because we will turn the country around, beyond the area, we will turn the whole country around. my message is that i have been going full blast coming yesterday, you saw that.
9:28 am
we had early in the morning until late in the evening, we left the football game and went to a mcdonald's yesterday that was quite a stop. that was quite a stop. thousands and thousands, 25,000 people around the building. i would not say that the secret service was thrilled, but that's the way it is. it was a lovefest and was incredible. it did take off. and then we did two more stops. we did a town hall, a big town hall with sage and some people and it was very successful. but no, the mcdonald's stop was very unique. there's no question about that. they really -- i'm sure mcdonald's liked it. but it just took off. you never know about life and what's good or bad, you just think something great is going to be okay and you do something that's supposed to be okay. this was supposed to be a routine stop and it turned into
9:29 am
a monster. i will be doing the same thing and campaigning i have no days off, so i will be going into the 60s or 70s in terms of no day off. i want a day off, we have to win and save our country and just make america great again. that's the message and it's a simple message and everyone behind me believes in it just as strongly as i do. i know that everyone of these people either through who they are or what they do i know every one of them are hardworking people and great people and they love our country in the state. maybe one or two more. yes, please. >> [reporter question] >> there were already plans to get startling? they did not get it. i know a top official who was
9:30 am
working in happens to be a republican, and they were not able to get starling, and i called elon who endorsed me and gave me one of the most beautiful endorsements of anybody, quite frankly. and he was -- and the most incredible landing of a rocket, call them up and said, is that your rocket? yes, i said can russia do that? no, and they won't be able to for a lot of years and i said what about china, no, they can't do it, what about the usa? no, they can do it either. he has the unique character i tell you what. a lot of spirit and is certainly a brilliant guy. and we are lucky. but the starling i've learned a lot about it, it's incredible. you don't need digging or any of that. the satellite that comes right back down and he did a fantastic job. maybe they were trying, but certainly he did not know about it and nobody knew about it and
9:31 am
obviously they were not able to get it. >> was arrested and charged with making threats against these workers to days ago. fema had a safety stand down because of the incredible threats, is it healthy that our recovery after carolina to see if fema is not doing their job. >> you have to let people do what they are doing, i think that we should say that too, because they should be rewarded, but does it mean that they are doing a terrible job we are not supposed to say it. these people are entitled to say it, and if fema was doing well, they would be saying they are doing a good job, for the most part today are not political people, for the most part they are not political people, but you have obviously seen nothing but very bad statements coming out about the job that fema and this administration has done trying to deal with this area and north carolina as a whole and by the way, other states are
9:32 am
complaining. but a lot of the money has gone. they have to have a special meeting in washington. they have spent it on illegal migrants, many of them murd murderers, and mental institutions and a say in asylums many of them are terrorists and they spend money to bring these people in our country and they don't have money to take care of the people from north carolina and other states. so you know, i think that you have to be able to speak, does that mean let's not talk about it? because by doing that, they will do a better job than next time. it's very important. one more question. >> have either of you seen any cheating in the special ele election? >> well, i haven't. unfortunately i know the other side and they are not good.
9:33 am
but i have not -- michael, have you seen anything that looks suspicious? we are very early? >> we are very early in the process and are tracking against all 50 states right now to make sure that the systems we want to have in place are in place and we are very happy with the initial results. >> how likely are you to -- >> let me ask you, do you think i will win north carolina? i think we will do good and we have laura, they fantastic person, unbelievably smart person, works with michael and everybody else, and knows everybody here. and loves the state. they named their daughter carolina, so that's a pretty good -- but she is fantastic. so laura is here and she is here working and in another part of the state. but she loves this place and has
9:34 am
a big voice, very smart person very good person. i want to thank everyone. we are going to another section as you know of north carolina. we are going to do two more so maybe we will see you then. but i just want to thank all of the people behind me that want to get back to work and thank you very much. beautiful words! [applause] >> harris: so these have been two events in swing states. the person on here you are watching with former president donald trump in north carolina, and you've saw a lots there and you heard a lot of questions from people who just simply don't understand how they got forgotten right after hurricane helene hit the ground. and so you have a president who went to that region and has been there more than once after the storm hit and he has gone back to see if things are working out to make sure that they are getting the attention they need. we will go into the politics of that and just a moment.
9:35 am
but alongside of all of that, vice president kamala harris has now wrapped up her comments in malvern, pennsylvania, and we took his, she was still shaking hands at an event and had not begun. this was with the former wyoming woman liz cheney i was supposed to be and was a discussion. i want to play this for you now, an extended clip so we can see it. let's watch. >> first of all, i will say that it is a metaphor that is meant to also describe my intention to embark on a new generation of leadership. and needless to say, mine will not be a continuation of the biden administration. i bring my own ideas and experiences. but it is also about moving past what i think has been up past
9:36 am
decade of the american discourse being influenced by donald trump. in a way that has had the effect of suggesting we as americans should point the finger at one another. in a way that has been using the power of the presidency to demean and to divide us. >> harris: former president trump end vice president kamala harris speaking to the american people today and two very different settings. former president trump's tour and the damage brought on by hurricane helene in north carolina as i mentioned moments ago, kamala harris spoke with at an pennsylvania event with liz cheney as i also mentioned. so you had a little bit of what was going on there, and that wrapped up just shortly and i believe that the former president was still talking when they were wrapping up. so this is "outnumbered." i'm harris faulkner. here is my cohost
9:37 am
kayleigh mcenany, joining us carley shimkus, cohost of "fox & friends." and senior fellow for the independent women's forum, and jason chaffetz is here, fox news contributor m former utah congressmen. a look, they both have a closing argument jobs right now, how are they both doing? >> jason: donald trump is knocking it out of the park, he has pitch-perfect, from mcdonald's to going on the football game to being on the ground, talking to the people. i thought one of the most amazing things that came out of that session we just listen to was speaker of the house for north carolina went up and said, thank you, mr. president for being here, because as the speaker of the house in north carolina, i have not had a single person from the biden/harris white house reach out to me. it's the speaker of the house. so actions speak louder than words. so donald trump has been pitch-perfect. he was contrite, he was humble,
9:38 am
and he was just showing what it's like to be a president and giving people hope. >> harris: just on the heels of what you said, jason, it so dynamically different the way that this current white house, biden/harris responded after helene. maybe they learned some things and i don't know how they migrated just days later, but they responded to hurricane milton was the current president being able to come and you know, i don't want to say boast, but put it out there that unlike kamala harris he had the direct phone number for ron desantis and that storm also hit florida first and hit it coming in if you will melt in. helene did the most damage to other states. but i put that out there because it is interesting that it was treated so differently. now you had something interesting to say because we were watching at this end time. you said it's malpractice what the campaign is doing right now. why do you say that?
9:39 am
