11:11 am
two historic hurricanes, let's not forget that. the president was able because of his leadership and what his administration was able to do, we avoided a port strike. that is something he was able to do. and there are many other pressing issues that are not just here domestically but around the world and the president has led on those issues. the most important thing that the president believes his job is to continue to be there for the american people, deliver for the american people and that is what you have seen him do. he's going to be out there i would say stay tuned. more to come. i just mentioned new hampshire. there's more to come in the upcoming days and he will share that with all of it. >> former president trump is in north carolina today. he was talking about some of the fema efforts there. he called the rescue effort "nonexistent." he repeated some misleading information about where of the funds have been directed to. how concerned is the white house
11:12 am
about what that might do to not just people taking in this information that is misleading but to voters specifically in key states where the devastation of the hurricanes has been eminence. >> i'm glad in your question you said misleading information which is true. misleading information that is being put out there and it's not just from a spirit you have heard from republicans and democrats. in north carolina who have said, who have made it very clear by pushing these types of conspiracy theories they are dangerous, they are unhelpful, and it is not what leadership looks like. i will say it like that. it is a time when you see something like that, these types of hurricanes that have impacted community is the way that they have, both of them, hurricane helene and hurricane milton, it's time that you bring a community together and stand by each other. you heard from the governors of
11:13 am
all of these states, in particular certainly as we are talking about governor in north carolina. he spoke to this today and he said the biden-harris administration has responded quickly and positively to our request peered the federal government has been responsive to their call for help. that is coming from the governor of north carolina. we also heard from the mayor of asheville as well. we have seen a bipartisan reaction to this. appreciation for what the administration has been able to do and the reason we have been able to do this work on the ground is because we have had a good partnership with local and state officials on the ground. in this type of conspiracy theory that is out there, it is dangerous to your point in your question. it is dangerous, it is unhelpful, and it gets in the way. >> secretary blinken is headed back to the middle east today. does the white house have any
11:14 am
hope that this will be more successful than past trips given that this comes after the death of a yahya sinwar? >> i know the state department and my colleagues spoke to this in greater detail about the secretary's trip which starts tomorrow. he will be going throughout the region, he will discuss the importance of ending certainly the war in gaza, securing the release of all hostages, alleviating the suffering of the palestinian people and he will underscore the importance of getting the food, medicine, and other humanitarian aid. it's important to get that delivered it to civilians in gaza. and he will also discuss and continue to have the discussions we have been having for the past several months now about the diplomatic resolution to the conflict between israel and hezbollah. we will reaffirm what you are going to see from this trip that the secretary is having throughout the region is reaffirming our commitment to what i just laid out to our partners across the region and
11:15 am
we do want to de-escalate the tensions and also obviously provide lasting stability and that is the commitment that we continue to have. i know you have a question and your question was do we think this will have an effect. we believe in this president believes in diplomatic resolution, diplomatic conversation is key to dealing with issues that we are seeing across the globe. >> does the president have a reaction to former president trump using this rhetoric about the enemy from within and specifically tying it to former speaker nancy pelosi and adam schiff this weekend? >> that type of language is un-american. it is dangerous. i was just asked about misinformation that we have been seeing certainly before the hurricanes hit and certainly now after the impact and what we are
11:16 am
seeing on the ground and how we are trying to work with our partners on the ground to make sure we get relief to folks on the ground. that type of misinformation, conspiracy theories is only hurtful. and that is not what americans want to see as a leader. that's not what they want to see as a leader. it's also disrespectful to our military. to ask our military to react or to do something and such a political way. we should respect our men and women. they should be respected. they put their lives on the line for us and we should respect them. and it is incredibly disrespectful to them as well. so it is un-american, it is dangerous, and it should stop. >> is there any understanding from the white house on when israel is going to respond to iran's attacks?
11:17 am
>> we've been pretty consistent on that. this is something for military operational decision is up to israel. we've been very clear our commitment and our commitment to israel's security. that continues to be ironclad however that is something for the israeli government to speak to. >> is there any word on what that response would look like and is there a redline? >> i'm not going to preview that from here. us proving that from here would give a heads up to the iranians as something that we are not going to be doing but that is aside from that it is something for israel to speak to. >> i wanted to ask about the contraception ruled that the administration is putting out today. as you mentioned at the top. >> sandra: a lot to take in as we continue to have our political panel onset in new york. jessica, a lot of different ways we could go. we were discussing the former president's visit to mcdonald's a moment ago.
11:18 am
maybe i jump on this question about the enemy from within. this is also coming from the other side. this is joy behar calling trump a fascist last week and "the wall street journal" takes it on in a new headline. >> to say that he has a fascist is completely accurate. it does fit the definition peered he wants to send the military and to attack his opponents. what more do you really need to hear? >> sandra: there's questions about this on both side. >> she's responding to things that donald trump set peered not the other way around. and you've seen donald trump himself and j.d. vance this morning on our own air with bill hemmer and dana struggling to talk about the enemy within comments peered he's been given the opportunity to walk it back and say maybe i shouldn't name check adam schiff and the pelosi's and he continues with it. he thinks that democrats are the enemies within and he doesn't have a problem sending the national guard after them. joy behar is responding to the
11:19 am
comments that donald trump started. i want to go back to what sean was saying about the mcdonald's thing. that image surely won the day yesterday and i think for people who are fans of donald trump, that is something that will resonate. but if you look at what was happening on social media on saturday for instance, the dominant thread that i was seeing was that donald trump could not help himself but to talk about how arnold palmer was well hung. on friday he was saying abraham lincoln should've settled the civil war. that's the art of the deal that he could've made a better deal. and then you have the enemy within comments. if you look at the totality of that for the weekend, i don't think it speaks that well to donald trump. >> sandra: they said the fear of fascism would have more credibility if democrats did not abuse power themselves. if they lose the election against a flawed mr. trump it won't be because he is a want to be much illini, the reason will be the biden and harris record. >> they've shattered all the norms. a half a billion dollar lawsuit and settlement in new york city

against trump. multiple cases against him. the two impeachments. but if you talk about what is happening in the government, you have republicans putting half of the committee on, the democrats but the other half. they did this on russian collusion and only put -- only allowed nancy pelosi to put members on. >> that's not true. >> it is true. because kevin mccarthy put his an end nancy did not take it and they put adding kings a year and linds cheney put on so republicans but not the ones that the leader picked. i don't think -- let's get back to normalcy. >> it like how big arnold palmer was? are you kidding me? you told me if joe biden stood up there and said i saw arnold palmer and a shower once and boy that guy has it going on down

there. what would you have said question work that he isn't fit to lead. >> the way the government auctions. >> that you have an insane person at the head of the government? maybe the guy who got indicted is the one that shattered the norms. >> maybe it was the law fear used to indict him. >> we need to leave it there but the response on the fema thing was interesting by the way after we just had that couple on that said they have called and had not heard back. >> i want everybody to get the help that they need but it is notable that congressman chuck edwards, a republican who was standing there shoulder to shoulder with donald trump was the one who had to release the statement after the hurricane debunking all of the junk. >> sandra: what does that have to do with getting people help on the ground? >> went donald trump and their allies tell people that help is not coming that the government does not care about you and they gave your money to undocumented people. >> people are getting crushed. >> sandra: i appreciate the debate.

>> john: reported leak of highly classified intelligence documents, israel's plans to attack iran surface on ryan at a pro-iranian publication. u.s. officials now work to find the source of the week and try to stop it from happening again. michael allen former senior director at the security council joins us now. here's what axios said about the leak. the potential leak could be the sign of a very serious security breach within the u.s. intelligence committee. which resulted in top-secret document reaching a channel affiliated with iran. it sounds like someone in the intelligence community. we don't know exactly who or where is a sympathizer. >> it's someone in the intelligence community or a political appointee who is trying to undermine israel's
11:46 am
coming attack on iran. i think there isn't much other explanation for this. it might be a hack which would be more catastrophic over time if overtime each week you see a different piece of intelligence coming out. it would remind me of edward snowden, the guy on the kids website discord who put out information. but for it to be where it is about israel where we are on the calendar, in between attacks, i think that this is definitely ideologically driven. >> john: this was not information that israel would share with the united states. this is what speaker johnson sat on it. >> the leak is very concerning. there are some very serious allegations being made there. the investigation is underway and i will get a briefing on that and a couple of hours. their classified level briefing and other. we are following it closely. >> john: it could be true that the leak came from the u.s. as
11:47 am
was claimed by middle east spectator which is the telegram channel that put it out there. but that information could also be to try to drive a wedge between the u.s. and israel. maybe it came from somewhere else. >> because they are trying to lessen the confidence that israel has in the united states. this is an administration that has fought netanyahu tooth and nail at every corner of this campaign since october 7th. i would not doubt, and they might be justified in thinking so that this is an effort to prevent them from doing what they think they should be doing to protect themselves. and that is an ideological one that we can't tolerate. spew and he's headed over to the middle east again with a cease-fire in his briefcase trying to convince all sides to lay down arms. take a look at israel. they have hamas on the ropes. just having killed sinwar the architect of the massacre. they have hezbollah chasing
11:48 am
their tails on everything. they're planning a retaliatory strike. if you are netanyahu, why would you stop now? >> you wouldn't. he's winning. and our administration here in the united states, the biden administration needs to read the room. they felt like this was their own september 11th attack and they needed to increase the fear that the enemies felt about them. that is why they have been effective against hamas long after kamala harris asked them to stop. that's why they are prosecuting the case against hezbollah so intently to the point where we are degrading some of the financial infrastructure now and that's why they will go after iran any day now. to tell everyone it is a new middle east. israel is back and you all ought to be deterred before you take a shot at us again. >> john: there's a sense in this administration that sinwar sinwar's dad, it's over, let's fold up the tents and i don't want to say kumbaya but some sort of agreement to end the war. but israel is saying just
11:49 am
because sinwar is dead does not mean that hamas was to. >> it shouldn't and at every turn they have tried to urge this upon israel and i think israel is saying to them you have no more credibility with us. you tried to get us to stop months ago and honestly, i don't believe they should be going over there right now. it's embarrassing for the united states when our answer to every question is cease-fire. because we have been for it when the chips are down and now when the chips are up, i think that israel is thinking this is politically or ideologically driven by the biden administration and we need to do what we need to do to protect ourselves. >> john: and israel streams to be in a very strong position. great to see you. >> sandra: busy day on the campaign trail. 15 days out from election day. former president trump in north carolina and vice president harrison michigan. updates from both campaigns after this. ing these two every thursday.

embark on a new generation of leadership. and needless to say mine will not be a continuation of the biden administration. i bring to it my own ideas, my own experiences, but it is also about moving past frankly what i think has been the last decade of the american discourse being influenced by donald trump. in a way that has had the effect of suggesting we as americans should point the finger at one another. in a way that has been using the power of the presidency to demean and divide us. part of my approach of a new generation of leadership and certainly a different approach, most of my career was not spent in washington, d.c. i say that with pride. in that most of my career was spent as a prosecutor making decisions that had a direct impact on people's lives. i learned at a very young age as a prosecutor that the things that i would do with a swipe of my pen could result in someone having their liberty or not. when i was attorney general of california which, you know, by estimate is the fifth largest economy in the world, i was acutely aware the words i spoke could move markets. i like getting things done. >> all right. that's how she answered that question,s john. and, you know, obviously you can easily make the case that voters may judge her on her career before the white house but also, you know, obviously her record while in the white house which is still right now. >> but this idea that over the last decade or maybe even more trump has been the sole person who has been demeaning and divided would neglect the idea that in 2016 hillary clinton put the country into a basket of
