steve. >> ainsley: good morning to you. 7:00 a.m. on the east coast. tuesday, october 22nd, and this is "fox & friends." former president donald trump giving hopes to voters in north carolina as he tours areas hit very hard by hurricane helene. >> i even made a comment to somebody trump will just show up. we need him. >> you can serve as a great inspiration to this community right now. >> i'm with you. >> lawrence: an emotional response. plus, electric vehicles, a big issue for voters in michigan as some auto workers blame the biden-harris administration for costing them their jobs. >> i will put it on joe biden and the democratic party.
4:02 am
why? because of the ev mandates. >> and it feels like we have been here before. the harris campaign seems like they still can't get their story straight when it comes to her position on fracking,. >> steve: maybe because she was against it before she was for it. >> brian: right. >> steve: hour two of "fox & friends" starts right now. ♪ >> ainsley: well election day is only two weeks away and today vice president kamala harris is taking a day off the campaign trail while former president donald trump going to court the latino voters down in south florida and then they had back to north carolina. >> lawrence: brand new poll numbers show trump making major gains with latino and black voters. >> >> steve: aishah hasnie is so lucky because this morning she is in doral, florida where mr. trump will participate in a latino voter round table in just
4:03 am
a couple of hours and she joins us live. aishah? >> aishah: good morning to you that event is going to happen right behind me. this event is curated for latino community, the hispanic community it. really could resonate with any american out there that is trying to achieve the american dream. the former president is going to sit down with hispanic community leaders in the miami area and discuss his policies about the economy. and this is going to be talking about how they can buy a house. keep their neighborhood safe. find good paying jobs. opportunity really for generational change here. and is he making a concerted effort, guys, to reach out to these hispanic voters. and it's resonating. take a look at new suffolk poll. shows that he is leading harris amongst latino voters in a head-to-head here. is he trailing though behind harris among black voters but, again, put this in perspective to back in 2020 when he got 8% of the black street president
4:04 am
biden's 91%. so, he is actually fairing off a lot better this year. and then, of course, he went to that pennsylvania mcdonald's over the weekend and worked the fryer and it was troll of vice president harris attempting to connect with the working class by saying that she used to work at mcdonald's. his visit has gone viral now with a lot of folks saying that, you know, they really connected with him watching him do that guys? >> steve: aishah, i have got a question for you. because donald trump's event at the mcdonald's over the weekend got so much publicity and even drove a number of people on the political left crazy because it was -- they said it was a staged event -- of course it was a staged event. it was a campaign event because it worked so well for him, is he planning more of that kind of stuff? >> >> here's the thing, guys. it was closed -- can i go really quickly? yeah people are freaking out because it was a staged event. it was closed and you have to close and shut down a building
4:05 am
because this is the former president who by the way has had two assassination attempts you can't joust have the doors wide open and security not involved. obviously vetting people who are coming through the drive-thru. you have got to keep it a safe situation for him. that's a party part of it that doesn't get talked about either. >> brian: do we put nut median of a highway? >> ainsley: very nervous. >> brian: incredible. >> aishah: it's a little loud out here. >> steve: are you saving on parking? is that it? >> brian: are you sponsored by focus factor. >> aishah: i'm going to get on a moped now. [engine starting and revving] >> steve: get your motor running. the reason i mentioned the mcdonald's event is piers morgan has got an item in the "new york post" today and it says don's special sauce libs lose mind over mcdonald's
4:06 am
visit. piers said because of the stunt he may actually win the election. >> ainsley: he actually did go to that grocery store and he gave the mom $100. i think it would be good if he around the country and did groceries stores moms in the market. how much did you spend because the guy his energy bill went from 2100 to 15,000 a month? >> lawrence: i think what they're upset about not that it's a political stunt because all politicians political stunts. is he better at it than her. every time you see her at grocery store. i thought it was weird when they diddrort thing. it wasn't national. you can't outshow a showman. he has done this his entire life. they are supposed to be the relateddable ones and billionaire is outshowing them. >> steve: to that points, lawrence, there is something that kamala harris has been talking about over the last couple of days just to show how effective that event in pennsylvania was she says and
4:07 am
donald trump won the day yesterday politically she says there are things that he donald trump says skits and laughter and jokes. but words have meaning these are at stake. each time remind voters of the stakes. it's a sign that a certain thing that he's doing is appealing to a certain part of the electorate. it's a really small part of the electorate that is still undecided. but they think it's funny and they think oh look he made fries. is he approachable. >> ainsley: not touching the human hand what food co do you like? i like it all. >> steve: he was on our show on friday and we asked if he was going to wear the paper hat did he not. didn't want to mess up the hair. >> steve: he said he was going go heavy i don't know 00 salt.
4:08 am
>> ainsley: relatable. we like the fact that most presidents would have these trays, silver service piece. he is like bring on the mcdonald's. it's just relatable. he goes to north carolina to talk to the victims of helene. >> lawrence: it's a big important story. hasn't been covered much in media. almost like these folks have been forgotten. we were there on the ground covering what was hang there was an emotional moment with the former president and here's a little bit of that. >> i had in the back of my mind. i even made a comment to somebody, if trump would just show up. if trump would just show up. we need that shot of hope in the arm we need that -- we need to know we will be okay and not forgotten. >> you won't be. >> thank you. >> i believe that you can serve as a great inspiration to this community right now. the reason being is giving you indomitable spirit. do you mind if i pray for you? >> yes, please. >> i would ask that you anoint
4:09 am
president donald trump and give him a spirit of wisdom and understanding and insight as he moves to lead this nation back to greatness. >> i'm with you and the american people are with you all the way we're going to continue to be with you. >> i will support and totally complete the rebuilding of every region and town and city that was devastated by the hurricane and i will slash through every bureaucratic barrier that you are having already and having problems with. we are praying for you and we will not forget but. we will never forget but. we will be working with you for a long time to come to get it back together. >> brian: i think it's important. remember he showed up day one with samaritan's purse. he is going back tonight at 7:00. is he going to be going to north carolina. yeah, it's a battleground state. absolutely. number two is, you can always
4:10 am
just sit there and stay in charlotte and say i feel bad for those people in the mountains. he goes to the mountains. >> lawrence: did you see the question that was posed to him one reporter said do you feel like this is going to impact the election with everything that is happening? he says i'm not worried about it. >> brian: aishah hasnie. he said i'm not worried about voting. hesitate campaign is. they want to make sure these people have provisional ballots or some type of easier access. you are not thinking about motive. >> some folks don't have power. >> ainsley: he said it's vital that we not let this hurricane that has taken so much also take your voice. you must get out and vote he said is if you are displaced you can get a ballot to your temporary location. >> steve: in the latest nbc poll it is an absolute tie. she has 48%. he has 48%. but the key is 4% undecided or will not vote so what he is
4:11 am
trying to do. is he trying to persuade the person who is less likely to vote. >> brian: yesterday's "the washington post" poll 4 point edge for trump in north carolina with registered 3 point edge for likely. came out yesterday. >> lawrence: huge. >> steve: meanwhile, in other news. the united states oil and gas association is calling out the vice president. their aide over her flip-flops on fracking. this comes as a harris campaign official sends mixed signals about her energy agenda. >> ainsley: rich edson is live at the white house. good morning to you, rich. recidivism rich good morning, ainsley, steve, brian, and lawrence. you have got an oil industry association and a campaign staffer now going back and forth. welcome to campaigning in 25024 vice president kamala harris repeatedly said recent lit that she would not try to ban fracking. it's a reversal from her position in 2019 when she was a senator running for the democratic nomination.
4:12 am
now, enter the harris campaign's climate engagement director, kimberly thorn dike. she told politico that harris is not promoting expanded fracking nor did she promote the additional fracking leases in the inflation reduction act. when reporters picked up on that thorn dike posted on x, quote. i didn't explain myself clearly here. contrary to trump's claims the vp has not banned fracking, doesn't support banning fracking and in fact cast the tiebreaking vote on the biggest climate vote ever which yes opened new fracking leases. people know that is her position the u.s. oil and gas association wait change of plan from earlier this morning. as of this afternoon, harris now supports fracking which is a change of position from this morning in which they opposed fracking which was a change from july position in which they supported fracking which was a change from their june position in which they opposed fracking. got it? got it. pennsylvania is a major state in this election. it produces more natural gas than any other state, other than
4:13 am
texas, former president trump has claimed in rallies there that harris will ban fracking. harris hayes has said that is not true. she says her position has remains consistent which when she joined the biden ticket back in 2020. back to you. >> steve: so, rich, she wants to say to the people of pennsylvania, i'm not going to ban fracking. but, at the same time, she doesn't document say that out loud because then she will anger her environmental base that doesn't want fracking. >> it's the general election tight rope. she has gone out and said look, this administration hasn't beened fracking, it's allowed fracking, i'm not going to ban fracking if you look at where she was in 2019 weather when she was just appealing to a democratic audience it was a different presentation. >> ainsley: i don't know who works for the u.s. oil and gas association social media it was clever. 43,000 followers to that site. the way they explained it wait, she has changed. this morning she was here, this afternoon she is here. july was was there. august she is there. very clever.
4:14 am
>> brian: thanks so much, rich. hearkening back to the woody allen movie he says relationships are like a shark. if they don't keep moving they die? and what we have on our hands is a dead shark. i look at oil and gas. they say well, we kept up the levels in single digits we increased the levels of oil and gas production. but, with energy, like a shark, it's got to keep moving. extonally, or else you fall behind. what trump hears oil and gas increased like 30%. we increased from trump years, yeah, about 8%. that's a huge decrease. and the question is, not are you going to ban oil and fracking but are regulations going to come in so thick, are the federal land going to expand so much you are going to wipe out and make if hard for blanks to invest with these oil companies that need investment in order to drill offshore and on land. >> lawrence: this administration wants -- i'm sorry, ainsley.
4:15 am
>> ainsley: go ahead. >> lawrence: wants these companies to go more towards the technology approach which bans those jobs. the problem they are going to have because i was in pennsylvania about a few weeks ago talking with the frackers. most of them used to be democrats. their parents were democrats. this was a democratic talking point. but the party has changed and it's gone more green and the frackers will admit, look, we know that some changes have to be made. would wanted to be safe on our job as well. we want to see our family more as well. but to go out there and just eliminate some of the jobs i asked him when do you start to notice that there is going to be a decrease in revenue for you guys? they say every election year based on the candidates. they start cutting back for if they are going to do fracking. that's their problem. >> ainsley: we have so much shale in this country. go in and inject chemicals water and sand into the shale rock and
4:16 am
extract natural gas. it's clean it we have a lion's share of shell in this country. we could be energy independent like we were under those four years under trump. we have so much shale here in new york. our taxes would go down tremendously if they would take advantage of this. but the environmentalists say it's contributing to global warming so they don't like it. >> brian: i will amend that governor cuomo did environmental study whatever they say i will go with. environmental study says you can frac and he said i'm not doing it upstate new york like you don't know iowa, rural, revitalized all these small towns that have cratered, they just end up people buying up real estate and sold it all. >> talking about upstate there was an item in the "new york times," i think on friday talked about how there are a lot of people who live in new york city who are liberal and democrats. they have got summer homes up around the lakes and out in the hamptons and stuff like that in red districts what they are
4:17 am
trying to do is trying to get. there is a quirk in the new york state law where if you are a resident of new york and you're registered to vote like say here in new york city you can actually register to vote in one of those far away districts. so the idea is to try to flip some of those red districts to blue and apparently they have been very successful at getting people who are democrats here in new york city to register to vote up in the red district. so it could actually have an impact ultimately on the house of representatives. >> ainsley: how do they get away with that. you have to register to vote where your main residence is. >> steve: you you're a new york state resident. >> ainsley: even though you don't spend the majority of your time at your mountain house? >> steve: it's still in new york. that's the the way the law is written. that's what they are trying to do. that's one of the tricks they are trying to get out the vote. ultimately it would impact the house of representatives. which i saw this morning. i think it was on drudge.
4:18 am
it said right now the democrats have a 70% chance of winning the house. >> lawrence: speaking of energy and how it impacts the economy. donald trump says how is he going to fix the economy is drill baby drill. this is what he told some of the folks at the bronx barbershop. >> so when you were president i know for a fact i was able to do three things, see money, save money and spend money. now in the past almost four years now, i'm losing my business, basically. >> losing it? it's your business. >> it's my business. i started it for the past 10 years. and the only time i knew i made it is when you were in office. i can speak poor myself. >> right. >> the thing is, it's like i don't know what more to do. how can we make the economy come back? >> how do you get to the bottom. >> here what happens we are doing. number one it, all began with the oil. they screwed around with what i did with oil. we were everywhere the greatest. energy independent. you remember back four or five years ago. $1.87 for a gallon of gas.
4:19 am
we actually had it lower than that for your car. $1.87. now it's at 3 bone 50. it's much higher. brought back my policies to the break even. by that time the damage was done. now you have inflation and have the costs so high and they haven't gone down. we're going to do two things. interest rates are going down. going to be brought down fast and much more importantly and quicker we are going to drill baby, drill. have you heard that, right? drill, baby, drill. >> steve: that will bring down the price of everything he says. >> ainsley: people are early voting. 15 million already and breaking records in north carolina, in louisiana, in georgia. almost breaking records every single day in that state because they started voting last tuesday. >> brian: right. when it comes to who is voting. still more democrats are voting republicans. 4 #% voted early democrats. 41 for republicans. that number was at 24.
4:20 am
in 2020. because there was a huge reluctance and a lack of trurs. i want to show up early also. drive-in voting. drive and drop your ballot. >> lawrence: the reason why it matters, brian, traditionally the democrats dominate whether it comes to early voting. this sever year. this is their game plan. their numbers need to be super high. on election day. >> brian: usually lose. >> lawrence: republicans dominate on there when it goes to show you when the former president started telling his voters get out and vote early. remember before there was resistance for mail-in ballots and do early voting because of election integrity. lanes lanes i still hear that sometimes. >> lawrence: resistant to that complete turn with republican voter. >> steve: that graphic brian was talking about republicans are up search points over the last election. and there you can see between now and four years ago. the big question is who is going to be able to get out the vote
4:21 am
the best on election day. historically the democrats have done it better. there are kind of some experimental things going on with the republicans to g get ot the vote. i know a lot of i -- i think charlie kirk's group is involved in as well. a lot of these early voting numbers that we are talking about are from the "wall street journal" today. there is a great piece next to the that particular piece in the "wall street journal." that talks about whether or not these polls are going to be wrong. because, what they talk about is in 2020, going in to the election, they showed that joe biden was up 8.4% according to 538. he ultimately won by 4% less than that so ultimately now, if the polls are wrong, by the same kind of margin, because trump voters, we have talked about this for 8 years now, are hard to poll. >> it would show that trump is actually ahead rather than a
4:22 am
dead tie which currently everybody says it is tied. but, if you look at 2020, and how wrong those polls were. trump could actually be ahead. we won't know until election day. >> brian: is he more popular now than he ever was. >> ainsley: i think so, too. >> brian: the numbers don't lie. >> ainsley: i think before a lot of people were scared to say they were voting for him. i don't hear that as much this time. >> brian: carley shimkus is more popular in the green room now. >> carley: my poll numbers have gone up? >> brian: they have gone up. >> carley: is that an official poll? wow. that's so sweet. i feel the same way but. >> brian: thank you. >> carley: we have some news to get to and sad story here out of texas. the national transportation safety board is investigating after a helicopter crashed into a houston radio tower and burst into flames killing all four passengers on board, including a child. and we're learning the helicopter was on an air tour when the crash occurred and the

tower lights were reportedly not working at the time. jury selection resumes this morning in the manslaughter trial of daniel penny, the marine veteran is charged with manslaughter for putting a homeless man, jordan neeley into a deadly chokehold in a new york city subway car. penny said he acted out of self-defense was pleaded not guilty. he could face 19 years if convicted. and former nascar star danica patrick throwing her support behind former president donald trump. >> it feels like voting for donald trump is like the vote of reason. it's like the actual reasonable choice. i think he is a man amongst the people. i feel like when you wrap that up with humility that he has. the sense of humor that he has. 9 off-the-cuff confidence that he has. his ability to be able to go so unscripted and be in so many scenarios where he has to certainly just be himself, it's pretty much all of them.
4:24 am
that's just not something you see from the other side. >> carley: patrick says she decided to get involved after learning more about politics and watching the news. that's us, guys. >> steve: that is us. >> carley: cool. and "fox & friends." >> steve: thank you, carley. >> brian: meanwhile 23 minutes after the hour. fox news alert. the secretary of state is in israel right now as u.s. intel leak could jerpsdz our only ally in the middle east as they try to attack back on iran. don't move.

is doing in presentation for the strike against iran. they have ended up on a telegram channel and apparently the channel believes that the leak came from the u.s. defense department. brian? >> brian: all right. thanks so much, matt. so many moving parts. meanwhile lawmakers demanding more answers after those classified documents were leaked. here now to react is florida congressman michael waltz on armed services with green beret background. brand new book called hard truths, think and lead like a green beret. it comes out today. congratulations on that. first off, on this, we don't know if it was a leak and we don't know if it was a hack. does that concern you? >> i don't know which would be worse and what would concern me more that the national geo spatial agency nga which analyzes all of our imagery, all of our drone footage, all of our satellites, that was hacked, that's hugely concerning. but i think it was much more likely a leak you have everything from rob mali which

parents' rights activist ahmad d joins joins us now. your thought is to vote yes for this so everyone is treated fairly no discrimination. but you have really researched this, tell us what it really says. what does prop one in your opinion really say. >> yeah, it's really a misnomer. other thing we keep hearing from this bill's sponsor is about protecting abortion. the word abortion isn't even in this amendment. it's not repoetly needed to protect abortion in new york state which has some of the strongest laws on the books protecting the right to access abortion what this proposition does have on it is language about gender identity and national origin and age and all of these categories that it's not quite clear why they are there unless you start looking into what the sponsors are actually up to when it comes to

parental rights. >> ainsley: and what did you find? >> what we see and what i have seen, you know, personally is a real effort to diminish parental rights and a real effort to change -- it to insert the state in between a parent and their child when it comes to very important decision-making. we see it in the schools. we see it with the gender guidelines that new york city passed where what they are trying to do is exclude parents from these really important consequential decisions for children who are confused or who are trying to figure out with this onslaught of confusing information kids get about gender identity. schools and our elected democratic leaders want to cut parents out of that conversation. >> ainsley: we have seen this in other states, california has dealt with it and school districts have dealt with it. you have to really read your propositions. you need to read them in advance. what will happen is and this has
4:43 am
