advisor to president obama, welcome to you both, and we will hear from former president obama later next hour, robert, so first to you, where does she stand on this issue? it's getting quite confusing. issue for fracking? >> so i was with the campaign in pennsylvania on sunday and monday, she absolutely does not support banning fracking. she supports fracking, she voted on the inflation reduction act which extended fracking leases. what is really going on as energy companies aren't using the permits and leasing because as you will see by the earnings, they are shifting to renewable just like in texas there is more renewable energy then in california. so this is a real debate in my opinion about someone that has been clear that she is supports fracking, but the energy companies aren't using the permitting right now anyway. >> sandra: does that make sense to you?
10:19 am
>> look, how she flip-flopped, yes, unfortunately it's on videotape, her advisors can give those same answer two days in a row. the real issue is where would she be if elected as president? and i think that we have to think on that from democratic senator bob casey whose campaign is running ad saying i support donald trump's energy plan because we know at the bottom line is, he will support fracking and one in the industries that has been part of the renaissance of the state of pennsylvania and not support this party's candidate. >> sandra: the reason why the oil industry is firing this back up with kamala harris to understand where she sits on the issue, robert is because her claim engagement director camilla thorndike was giving a brand-new interview in which that person said harris is not banning fracking, but it is and promoting expansion either, what we have heard when she has been
10:20 am
challenged on whether or not she has flip-flopped on the issue she was simply said my values have not changed. okay, so i'm reading this again. she is not promoting expansion either. that's not for fracking. >> so i actually spoke to the campaign this morning and i think that you will see that that individual, their climate person has made a statement. i think that original statement was an artful, i am probably being kind. but it is clear from kamala's perspective, it's clear she supports frank fracking, they have extended leases and i think what is more important is energy companies are shifting to renewables and that's where they are putting their capex. >> sandra: i'm wondering, doug, where does that leave her with those who are engaged with her on the climate and do you want her ban fracking?
10:21 am
>> first of all, kudos to robert for being gentlemanly about handling this. i mean, the aide really stepped in it and made it complicated, even robert had to be careful on how he said it. he double negative, she doesn't support banning fracking. you have to tiptoe your way through the words they are to get to her position because they have made such a mess of this over the year. so bottom line is she is not to repudiating the biden adminstration's approach to climate and that approach has been to ban fuels. not to look at the atmosphere, ultimately the scientific issue, but to demonize fuel after fuel, coal, oil, natural gas that is not been an effective strategy are making progress in dealing with global omissions and is not a good economic policy. speak to that person sought to clarify her comments on the tweet yesterday and i should get this in her, robert. she says i did explain myself clearly, the vp has not banned fracking, does not support

banning fracking and cast the tie-breaking vote on the climate law ever that open new fracking leases. people know that's her position. apparently it was news to her. i just want to put up what has happened with energy. robert, you and i have talked a lot about this over at the biden/harris years, this is energy inflation. this is what the american people say that they are feeling out there which is why they tie her directly to the policies that have led to this. you have fuel, gasoline up 33%, electricity prices have gone up, utility bills have skyrocketed, and this is where -- this is since he took office. so where people to believe that she is going to improve a situation she has been leading to that? >> we could have a whole discussion on energy policy. i mean douglas knows that energy is a global commodity between the ukraine, the embargo with

and i think whatever a blow to the iranians has to be something close to a knockout blow with the iranians understanding there is another blow after that that could be even more devastating. >> john: the situation with iran and then there is the situation with hamas and what comes after a guy gusting more now that he has gone from the playing field, according to "the wall street journal" he gave instructions for how hamas should proceed should he be taken out. he said he also began preparing for his death advising hamas members that israel would offer concessions to end the war after he was gone. and negotiations with israel he said hamas would be in a stronger position according to arab mediators familiar with his messages. sounds like he gave instructions don't side and a cease-fire and hold out for the best possible deal. and for him at least while he was running the show the best possible deal was no deal.

is within the margin of error and some of those key issues on the ground are the economy in wisconsin. they care about immigration. both go to donald trump when asked who is able to do a better job with those issues. she wins it with abortion at the moment, he takes middle east and on preserving democracy as she leads by one point, so set this up in wisconsin, jr. >> so we are wisconsin, we live within the margin of error, that's what we like here. go back and look at the last six presidential elections, only two more than 23,000 votes, the 20,000 vote margin in 2020 was comfortable compared to 2,000 less than 6,000 votes, so we live on that nice edge constantly. so what i'm hearing from people is that they are locked in another close election if this is a true jump all and nothing moves in momentum for donald trump or kamala harris,
10:48 am
campaigns always talk about how important it is, but if you are a true 50/50 state where there is no real advantage momentum wise, that's where it comes to talking to both sides of the aisle picking up from republicans nervous about the operation where democrats feel more confident in theirs. >> sandra: i pulled up wisconsin as you are speaking in our maps that breaks it down by county as we will dig it down and just a moment to your points about the presidential election results you go back to 2020 and you see joe biden pulling off victory by what was a .6 percentage point margin of victory. so small, but obviously so meaningful and you go back to 2016 when it was a different story and donald trump pulled off victory by a bigger margin than joe biden won in 2020, 48 percentage points there. that is how close this could be right now, jr.
10:49 am
>> absolutely. i don't go to bed before daylight often on presidential election nights. so it's different this time around. it's just a question of momentum. when you look at the real clear politics average we look at former president trump, is that real or just wisconsin being wisconsin? we just kind of being wisconsin where democrats have seen emergence a road in the rural areas, republicans have seen emergence in the suburbs under donald trump and will be 50/50 again. >> sandra: i want to highlight dane county, i had a chat with former congressman sean duffy about this area yesterday and just how much this is growing. it is wisconsin's fastest growing county and deep blue it is, talk about what is going on and what you will be watching on election night as we note this is obviously going back to 2016 just by how much hillary clinton won and you go to 2020 and joe biden won that county by 52
10:50 am
percentage points. you see some of those urban areas and counties around madison that are not as solidly blue that will count on election night. sauk county has obviously one of those that was pretty close, but wanted joe biden in 2020, final thought on that. >> dane county is a turn on machine for democrats. the one county i can point out for a 25 years now where it has gotten that much bigger and that much more partisan. the first race for governor in 2002 there were 170,000 votes in the governor race overall in dane county, and 2022, tony evers won by more than that margin that was cast in 2022. it's become this machine. joe biden came out here, the 180,000 vote margin in 2020 bits of donald trump is not going to win dane county. the question is can he have a margin of error, can i get to
10:51 am
24? also milwaukee county, big driver for democrats, can donald trump cut in the margin there as well. >> sandra: pulling off victory by 40 percentage points and that went to hillary clinton by 37 percentage points in 2016, great to have you. please come back soon. thanks so much. >> any time. >> this year there are 207 haitian students in logan support schools to up from 14 and 2021 pair they also have new students from 11 other countries including guatemala, cuba, honduras, and el salvador. spin on migrant children overrunning american schools, the negative impact shoe says it is having on our children's education and how the school board is pushing back.
