election rules. the state supreme court handed a loss to state republicans turning down a rule to count the ballots by hand on election night. they say it could have potentially delayed results. out here everyone is focused on election day and the former president is going to be focused tonight on getting out the vote early. >> bill: all right. here we go. aishah hosni in duluth, georgia north of atlanta. >> dana: president biden raising eyebrows after saying former president trump is a threat to democracy and should be locked up. then he quickly back tracked and he meant locked up politically and not behind bars. rich edson has more from the white house. biden out on the trail. >> he was, dana. throughout his time in the white house, president biden has tried to distance himself from these ongoing prosecutions against former president trump saying look, the justice department is an independent agency or entity and the white house has nothing to do with any of that. so yesterday he was up in new
6:05 am
hampshire without his vice president, the democratic nominee, campaigning. he also did a healthcare event with senator bernie sanders. he stopped by the new hampshire democratic party headquarters in concord when he said this. >> i know this sounds bizarre. it sounds like i said this five years ago you would lock me up. we got to lock him up. [cheers and applause] politically lock him up. lock him out. that's what we have to do. >> lock her up was a regular chant supporters at trump claimed hillary clinton was corrupt. at times this psych is will democrats started chanting the same about trump. president harris usually responded the courts will handle that and she and her campaign will take care of november. the trump campaign said joe biden admitted the truth. he and kamala harris's plan all along has been to politically persecute their opponent,
6:06 am
president donald trump, because they can't beat him fair and square. if harris wins federal prosecutions against trump could continue. yesterday harris was asked in an interview on nbc whether she would consider pardoning trump if convicted me federal court. >> i won't get into those hypotheticals. i'm focused on the next 14 days. >> bill: she has a town hall tonight in pennsylvania in pittsburgh and atlanta tomorrow to campaign with former president obama. >> dana: thank you, rich. >> bill: we're pleased and honored to welcome josh holmes in person. former chief of staff to mitch mcconnell. in the box down there in washington, d.c. you are free for a day. here in new york. >> dana: are you doing the ruthless podcast from here? >> no, i'm not. >> i had to take a day off. wanted to come see my friends. >> bill: a couple things we want to run through here. i don't know why joe biden went to new hampshire. i was looking at some of the
6:07 am
polling. the republican running for governor is up a point. kamala harris is up two points on donald trump. maybe it is a surprise on election night. when she is sat down with nbc last night. bret asked her this question and jackson tried it in a different way. watch. >> can you say that you were honest with the american people what you saw in those moments with president biden as you were with him repeatedly in that time? is >> of course. joe biden is an extremely accomplished, experienced and capable in every way that anyone would want as their president. >> you never saw anything like what happened at debate night behind closed doors with him? >> it was a bad debate. people have bad debates. >> that's the reason why you are here and he is not running for
6:08 am
the top of the ticket. >> you would have to ask him if that's the only reason why. >> dana: oh geez. i don't know. >> takes your breath away. >> dana: it is shock ising. >> there are four or five of these questions that are basics, 101s when you put together a presidential campaign. you know this is going to come up. the american people had seen is it with their own eyes and the reason joe biden is not at the top of the particular the et and her name is. she has been given four opportunities to clean it up and have an answer that resembles the way humans talk with their own eyes and making observations. is she still can't do it. reminded -- the economy. she has the same thing she can't really talk about it. for the life of me, i can't figure out why it is that this question be devils her. it is so obvious. >> dana: is it loyalty? >> i assume there are frictions
6:09 am
inside the white house. the distancing from the current president is not helpful and legacy is means something to him. she is trying to coble something together but reality in plain sight. a failure to acknowledge that i think is an underlying problem that americans now have had with kamala harris. is she telling us the truth? when she switches on things like fracking and switches on her whole economic plans, idea, immigration, the border, something she is now endorsing, the wall. if you can't acknowledge that joe biden is was in a diminished capacity, that you can believe her about almost anything. >> bill: seems like if she says yes to that she goes down this twisted road and explain where she was on debate night and on and on. the "l. a. times" endorsed democrats as far as i've been alive i do believe, right?
6:10 am
obama in 2012 and 2008. they want endorse this year. kamala harris who lives in los angeles during her time as vice president made many weekend trips to her hometown of los angeles and that's a whiff. i don't know if that matters, a. and b, what matters to you? when you are in washington watching dana and me in new york and at the map trying to make our best guesses. >> dana: do you have your head in your hands they don't know what they are talking about? >> well look, there are little things that may affect somebody. this is probably the first good editorial decision the la times has made in the last 25 years. this has been a rag. but i think almost every voter at this point has discounted the old school sort of newspaper endorsement as having any impact on the way they vote. particularly in an election like this. donald trump is donald trump. every american you either love him or hate him but you have an
6:11 am
opinion about him. now you are seeing kamala harris start to get into this defined value of where people see can she answer questions? is she capable of doing the job? things like that. what the "l. a. times" thinks i think is probably not on top of mind. i would love to meet a voter saying is i'm on the fence and i don't understand what's going on in this campaign. >> dana: would you play call for three about religious exceptions for abortion. >> so a question of practicing thattism what concessions would be on the table. exceptions, religious. >> i don't think we should make concessions talking about a fundamental decision to make decisions about your own body. >> dana: i understand why sthe is saying what she is saying. maybe she believes it. what do religious conservatives think about it. >> they abhor it. religious liberty isn't something that democrats took sear is -- seriously in a long
6:12 am
time. they wanted to talk about religious hospitals providing abortion care. this is again she is running on the issue of abortion because she thinks it's the only wedge that cuts her way. on the eight issues that you ask the american people what are the months important things to you, this is the only one she is at 50 or above. she has to talk about it. she can't draw any life. she has to go as hard as she can and hope it is still enough to float what is an otherwise incredibly unimpressive resume. >> bill: 13 days and counting. you come back soon, okay? >> dana: have a great day in the big apple. i know you are happy to be here. great weather. thanks for being here. >> it's just overrun. we don't have space for everybody so the housing has been taken over and our schools have been taken over. the whole town has been taken
6:13 am
over. >> bill: you have never heard of this town in indiana before today. the migrant crisis coming to a head there. how a small town is struggling to accommodate a surge of new people from out of the country. >> dana: plus stunning new data from the border. what it reveals about the number of people allowed in through parole programs. >> bill: the leak of u.s. intelligence on israeli war plans casting a long shadow over cease-fire talks as we speak. what the lawmakers want to know about the leak. >> we're resolute in our defense of israel when it comes to attacks from iran and its proxies and we stand with israel and will always stand with israel in its defense.

you've never heard of it before until today. population 18,000, distance about 1500 miles from our southwest border. locals say they're buckling under the burden of a huge flood of migrants all here on a special immigration program under the biden-harris administration. garrett tennessee there live. 80 miles north of indianapolis. what did you find out? >> this town is a di verse community. it is known for having a lot of immigrants. folks who say this isn't a race issue but a culture issue. the explosion of haitians has been too much for this town to handle. the town has grown by more than 3,000 people in three years with most of that growth coming from haitians coming to the area who are in the country legally through the biden administration's parole program and temporary protected status. it's a 20 to 30% increase in
6:20 am
population and it is creating a lot of issues here. the health department is seeing an uptick in cases of tb, hiv and aids. a 30% jump in accidents and driving violations. long time residents say they don't feel safe anymore. >> it keeps getting worse and worse. they keep bringing them in and they run the whole streets at nighttime. >> they need to go back to where they came from. there are too many here. they're taking over the town, actually. >> we're all for compassion. we understand why people come here and from all around the world but you can't do that at the expense of everyone else, either. you have to have compassion for those who are here. >> the police chief says there hasn't been an increase in crime but some locals like nancy say the big cultural differences with the latest group of immigrants is leading to a lot of uncomfortable situations. >> they don't walk in just one or two. there are five, six, seven of
6:21 am
them and they stop right in front of your house and stare at you. we have cameras on our porch now. they have come up on our porch and grabbed some of the baby's toys. i will be sitting in the living room. hey, that's ours. and they just look at me and put it down and walk away. they say nothing. it is unnerving. >> this surge of haitians is also impacting the schools. in 2021 the district had 14 haitian students. today there are more than 200. most of whom do not speak english. for nancy's daughter, that lack of attention led her to leaving school all together and switching to classes online. >> there are so many that nobody else is getting any time to do anything else except the teachers just like trying to teach those kids. and then everybody else is just
6:22 am
getting left behind and let down. >> the superintendent tells us neither she nor any principals that received reports or complaints about students' needs not being met. this is an issue happening across the country. in a reuters investigation surveyed some of the largest school districts in the country a third of those that responded said there have been negative impacts due to the influx of immigrant children in the classroom. bill. >> bill: fascinating story, garrett. glad you are there and brought it and explained it to us in such a fair and balanced way. north of indianapolis, southwest of pittsburgh. springfield, ohio. we'll see how americans react. garrett, thank you for that in indiana. >> dana: bret baier anchor of special report joined us now. new numbers from the border. under biden-harris these are the number of lawfully allowed to enter since september of 20 -- january of 2023.
6:23 am
about a year and a half. 1.4 million. by the cell phone app 850 thousand and by these migrant flights 530 thousand. bret, i think what garrett just did is be able to take those numbers, we throw out numbers all the time and they feel big. you see a community like that saying the guy jeffrey saying i understand why they came but i also understand the difficulties that we're having here in our community. very telling. >> it was, good morning, guys. i think that all the focus on springfield, ohio and eating of the dogs and cats and that whole controversy took away from these towns that are dealing with legal immigrants under the biden-harris administration. it is both the cbp app, one app that brings folks in as well as this chnv. this is cuba, haiti, nicaragua, venezuela migrant flights that
6:24 am
were set up to bring migrants in to these different communities. they are done legally under the administration but for some is of these places, small towns, it is tough to deal with in those numbers. in the schools as you heard garrett's report. that's 1.4 million additional people. so while they say the illegal numbers, the crossings are down, since the executive orders were put back in june, those other numbers, you know, augment that bigger picture. >> bill: when we asked who does a better job on immigration trump leads by 15 points. maybe this comes to pass and maybe on the 6th or 7th or 8th of november after votes are tallied we're sitting in new york saying well, the voters will tell us something. you last night had larry hogan on in maryland. a different state. his reaction on immigration went like this. >> people all across the board
6:25 am
are concerned about this issue. we are nowhere near the border but people are concerned about the crime that, fentanyl crisis, human trafficking, what it's doing to some is major cities and an issue we're winning over large numbers of hispanic voters who are here and don't want to see crime in their communities. >> bill: that's another part of this, too. the latino vote. you tried to get an answer out of her in your interview with a number and were shall i say unsuccessful with her answer to your specific question. >> bret: yes, numerous times. i think that part of that, the acknowledgement of the numbers that have come over is not part of the answer that is baked in the cake. they automatically go to the first bill they dropped which was an amnesty bill basically and then the second 3 1/2 years later effort to have a bipartisan legislation.
6:26 am
former governor hogan is not a fan of former president trump at all. but when it comes to immigration, he is on his side and is definitely pushing to deal with this issue. >> dana: let's get a little political question for you as well. last night harris was asked about some of the state of the race. i want to show some of these headlines our team put together that democrats fear the race is slipping away. clock is ticking on kamala harris. early voting signals early danger in nevada. warnings with youth in arizona. ominous signs for kamala harris's blue wall. it could be collapsing. that's not me saying that. that's not hemmer saying that or even jess watters saying that. that's reporters who are on the ground and these are the headlines they came back with. what's the feel of the race to you right now? >> bret: i think all of those bullet points. all those data points are accurate. they are just raw numbers, early vote numbers. we always have to have the
6:27 am
caveat. i think republicans can feel good about that but the get out the vote historically for democrats has been really good in the closing days. it seems like vice president harris is closing with the threat to america from the former president. you saw that atlantic piece referencing the former chief of staff john kelly talking about how the president talked about hitler and all of these things will be packaged together to make this closing argument that she is making alongside former congresswoman liz cheney. does it work? we don't know. right now the momentum heading into this week seemed to be on the former president's side. but the get out the vote operation in different states is really the undetermined factor. >> bill: a lot of people doing deep dives these days. they are going deep into the weeds. >> dana: come up for air. thank you, bret. see you tonight. >> bill: see you soon. >> when president trump was in
6:28 am
the white house brown voted against him 100% of the time when it mattered. brown is too liberal for ohio. >> bill: balance of hour in the senate could hinge. who has the longer coattails for the upper chamber in the u.s. congress? fears of world war three with hot spots around the world. what keeps defense secretary lloyd austin up at night at this exclusive interview. >> has the next global war already started and people don't realize it? >> i don't think so. i think, again, it is a very complex world. and we've been together most of my life. not often do you have a childhood dog that, that lives this long so i think it's really unique and special that we've experienced so many, so many things in life together. knowing that he's getting good nutrition and that he has energy is a huge relief for me and my dad. “such a good little bean.”

6:34 am
security correspondent jennifer griffin is here with the highlights. you covered a lot of ground. >> that's right. we're not far from the vatican where the defense secretary met with the pope moments ago. we had this rare sit-down interview with secretary austin after his fourth trip to ukraine. his fourth trip as defense secretary. while he was there, he was provided evidence by president zelenskyy and others that north korea is sending thousands of north korean soldiers to train and fight with russia in ukraine. just before meeting the pope for a private audience this morning, at the vatican to discuss the wars in ukraine and middle east, austin confirmed for the first time that u.s. intelligence has seen evidence and will release satellite images soon. >> ukraine's military intelligence chief says nearly 11,000 north korean troops are in russia now and will be ready to fight in ukraine by november 1st. have you seen is evidence of this?
6:35 am
>> our intelligence analysts are looking hard at this. it speaks to the point that putin must be weakened to a greater extent than most people think. initially we saw him go tin cuping to north korea and iran for munitions and weapons. so now if he is tin cupping for people, that speaks to how effective the ukrainians may have been in this fight. we know that putin is losing a lot of people. >> george will wrote this new axis of china, russia, iran and north korea joining forces and sewing discord around the world is evidence that world war iii is already underway. has the next global war already started and people just don't realize it? >> i don't think so, jen. i think, again, it is a very complex world. we see a lot of activity, a lot of competition. i would not describe it as world
6:36 am
war iii. >> how concerned were you about the leak of classified information showing the u.s. knew about israel's preparations to strike iran? can you assure the israelis it was not an intentional leak by the administration? >> you know i take handling of classified information very, very seriously. if there is an instance where procedures -- proper procedures have not been followed we'll investigate that and we are investigating this issue. >> austin said is he was worried about increase isolationism spreading in the u.s. how does aid to pennsylvania benefit? >> ohio, texas, alabama, you name it. there are a number of states that benefit directly. we do not send cash over to
6:37 am
ukraine. we draw down equipment whether it be vehicles or weapons or munitions. and we replace those weapons with munitions with something that is probably a little more modern and more effective. >> is we'll have more on our exclusive interview with secretary austin and what he said about the middle east and israel tonight on special report at 6:00 p.m. eastern. >> dana: such great questions you asked. >> bill: good stuff. thank you. mike pompeo former secretary of state, fox news contributor. thank you for your time today. draft off jen's last question can you assure israel that this leak did not come from a member of the current administration? he didn't answer it. he said he did -- i guess he did not say it did not come from us as of today, anyway. what do you make of that answer? >> so bill and dana, good morning.
6:38 am
look, he avoided answering that question. it is nearly certain it came from us. this is why they are conducting an investigation. and whether it was intentional or not the most senior levels i think misses the core point which is that this administration has routinely done things that have benefited iran at the cost of israel. they put in a fellow named robert mali with deep dice to the iranians who has been suspended. they told the israelis they need to stand down and conduct a cease-fire when dozens of senior hezbollah and hamas officials would be alive if they did that. whether it was intentional to leak this particular information deeply damaging information to the israelis' effort to strike back at iran, all the conditions were set by secretary austin and the administration to enable someone on the team to think this is u.s. policy. we don't want the israelis to take these strikes. let's make it more difficult for
6:39 am
them to do so is. >> bill: is we look at smoke over beirut. seen it for several weeks and the southern city along the eastern mediterranean. here is how donald trump addressed exactly what you just talked about with regard to israel and iran. >> it was leaked. the entire military plan of israel. the military plan. the plans they have at the highest level. it was leaked. highly confidential information, it was leaked by our somebody. they have no idea who did it. that's the enemy. that maybe is the enemy from within as i talk about. we have an enemy from within. i hate to talk about it. but can you imagine? >> bill: he spent a lot of time with him and you worked for him in different capacities. what do you think of that answer? >> yeah, this is exactly correct. the administration put people,
6:40 am
senior people working their middle east file who had deep ties to iran and iranian regime working alongside them for years. this is exactly the kind of thing you would expect would happen. people who wanted to resist israel's right oh to defend itself and secure freedom and security for the united states as well. working inside at senior levels of the u.s. government leaking important information. bill, it shouldn't surprise anyone that the israelis have decided they can't tell us about operations they will take because we've tried to restrain them. i contrast that with our four years where we worked so closely with them and israelis brought us inside so we understood what we could do it and do it alongside them and support their efforts. this mattered to israel and the united states and importantly for the saudis and all the gulf arab states this mattered, too. the threat is in tehran. this administration has undermined israel's ability to impose costs on iran to deter them. whatever secretary austin

sarkese it feels there is a massive war taking place in europe, china, and in the middle east today. and this administration has just simply been unable to put deterrents back at the front and put america in a role of leading peace and prosperity in the world. >> bill: serious and sober stuff. thank you for your time. mike pompom, see you soon, thanks. >> dana reads sports. >> history tonight. the first father/son duo to play together in an nba game. >> dana: even i can understand this one, bill. lakers star lebron and his son bronny making history as the nba season kicks off. the first ever father/son duo to take the court together. bronny's regular season debut and lebron was enjoying it. >> i lost a lot of time and missing a lot of his things,
6:42 am
