january the 6th peered i wouldn't be surprised if january the 6th comes up but it's interesting findings on why people say they are going to vote for the candidates. fox news poll said beyond electing donald trump the top issue motivating kamala harris voters motivating -- sorry pair the top issue motivating trump voters to vote is the economy. and beyond electing kamala harris, top issue is dislike of trump, 17%. so people say that they are voting for kamala harris not because they really like her policies but because they dislike trump. we saw this back in 2020 and we know what happened as a result. >> joe biden one and i would say when i ran for congress, a lot of people talk about why do you want the other person to be fired but why you should be hired and it really is about we don't want to turn a page back and go back to failing policies peered we want to move forward, great manufacturing jobs and to do more. creating 60 million new small businesses but the goals another 25 million.

10:13 am
a fundamental reason that it is less effective than it was four years ago with joe biden and that is a lot of americans thought that joe biden rightly was more of a centrist than the current democrat party and they were comfortable with him. they know she is not that centrist. they know she is super liberal on a lot of these issues and she dumb if they are not comfortable with it. it does not get you all the way there. it's not enough to say donald trump is bad and has more and more stuff and i'm sure there will be more stuff rolling out in the next few days with he said this, he said that. she said he said isn't going to get it done when he is talking about the economy and immigration and is still able because he can articulate it to say not great things about her as well. >> john: it's not a prediction to say that something about trump will drop every day between now and november the 5th. but the idea of not articulating policies and saying trump bad man don't vote for him. every time kamala harris or

attempt released an interim report this week calling the shooting preventable. and noting a lack of planning and coordination between the secret service and local law enforcement. the report stating that the secret service did not give clear guidance to state and local authorities about how to manage security outside of its hard perimeter or hold a central meeting with local law enforcement on the morning of the rally. a full report from the house task force is expected in december. >> sandra: just finally getting some of those details. thank you. >> why should i vote for trump? >> i cannot provide responses that endorse any political party or its leader. >> alexa, why should i vote for kamala harris? >> there are many reasons to vote for kamala harris. >> john: more details on why alexa answered election questions like that but does that explanation add up?

>> sandra: sales of existing homes are on track for the worst year sense 1995. all this is happening as mortgage rates are climbing and today new numbers out showing they are climbing again. an average 30-year fixed rate surging to the highest level in three months now and not of course is what continues to push demand down. steve moore and dave green house are here. i don't know that demand is
10:47 am
necessarily down. the demand is out there. but they aren't going out to get the mortgage because they see the rates and they don't see the availability of homes. >> that's right. i was just looking at there's a bunch of numbers out today but i was looking at the one "the wall street journal" had the rate at about 6.9%. to put that in perspective sandra, the mortgage rate was about 3.5% when trump left office. so it's about twice as high as they were when trump left office so that means for the average person who wants to buy a home, let's say a medium value home, they will pay about a thousand dollars more a month in mortgage payments largely because of those higher rates. i have two kids that are in their early 30s and they are doing pretty well. they are rich, but they are doing pretty well. they can't afford a house. they can barely afford to pay their rent. it's a real hardship and i would say these policies that biden put in place have been a tax on the american dream of homeownership.
10:48 am
>> sandra: obviously viewers are going to go that's nothing what they went through 20 or 30 years ago. >> i remember that. speech or to put this in perspective, just under 7% you are still in the single digits so let's keep in mind but there's not a lot out there. if you are a buyer, it is an incredibly difficult market and for the most part, correct me if i am wrong, that is because people don't want to sell their homes because they would have to go get a new mortgage with higher rates than they have today. >> the vast majority of people have fixed rate mortgage is called 95% of people and virtually all those people have rates below 5%. if you were to sell your house and move into a different one you would be swapping out your 4% mortgage for 6.5% or 7%. but to echo steve's point the biggest issue is not one but two. not only are mortgage rates high but the price of the home is higher. to steve's point, pre-covid to the average mortgage rate for a regular medium priced existing home was about 900 change
10:49 am
dollars per today it is over 2,000. to steve's .101100 dollar increase in your mortgage payment because of these two issues and that is the two main issues. >> sandra: it's amazing how it has emerged. we look at what kamala harris has laid out. she's promising down payment assessment for 1 million first-time home buyers. she's a promise thing to build new housing units, tax breaks for developers. will all of this help or hurt the current housing market if she is elected? >> the $25,000 down payment issue, i don't think the problem is down payment. i think it is that they can't afford to pay the monthly mortgage on a 30-year mortgage. it's over $2,000 right now. a month.
10:50 am
i worry also remember we had a housing crisis in 2008 because the government kept subsidizing housing and people got homes they could not afford to pay f for. >> sandra: final thought you. >> we need smaller houses. >> sandra: interesting. >> 2400 or 2500 square feet. we need 1600, 1700, 1800. >> sandra: cause prices to come down in general. i appreciate the discussion gentleman. dan, steve, thanks. >> john: a doctor refusing to publish her own study about treating children with puberty blocking drugs to change their gender. the shocking reason she says why she withheld the data. brian kilmeade's reaction coming right up. many were shocked to learn they've been paying 22% on their credit card balances. and if payments were late, as much as 30%. that's over three times the interest rate on a newday 100 va home loan.
10:51 am
