america's late news, fox news at night. breaking tonight, word salad city. that's what democratic advisor called kamala harris town hall performance. here's what he means. >> why wasn't any of that done for the last four years? >> there was a lot that was done but there's more to do and i'm pointing out things that need to be done that haven't been done but need to be done. >> trace: when asked if she made a mistake ever in her political career, she struggled vitally. >> i've made many mistakes. they range from if you've ever parented a child you make lots of mistakes. in my role as vice president, i probably worked very hard at making sure that i am well-versed on issues and i

this is kamala harris at the cnn town hall. kind of a shocking answer on this one. >> do you think donald trump is a fascist? 's. >> yes, i do. yes, i do. i also believe that the people who know him best on the subject should be trusted. >> trace: what do you make of that comment? >> i think it's despicable that kamala harris said that last night and moments ago on another network trace, hillary clinton was on campaigning for kamala harris and labelled trump supporters as. this is the same disgusting rhetoric that the democrats -- democrats have been espousing for eight years. the same type of rhetoric that has led to two heinous assassination attempts on his life and an increase in political violence in the country. it's the democrats closing pitch because they don't have policy. kamala harris does not have a record to run on. she has graded all the problems we've seen over the past four
8:06 pm
years. only president trump can fix those problems. that's why they are not buying this hateful rhetoric. hillary clinton, kamala harris and all the democrats need to take a look at the mere because it's disgusting the things they are saying. >> trace: it appears to be part of this whole campaign strategy where you ditch the joy and you do nothing but attack a trump. they were questioned on that today and here's the answer. >> i think she's trying to help make sure that voters are member what a doll trump presidency looks like. this man poses a risk to our country. he does not care about you, he does not care about the constitution, he only cares about himself. he's seeking unchecked power to do with it what he will. >> trace: you would think that she would need to promote herself and do less attacking of her opponent. >> i know that he has a very difficult job in defending the worst, most incompetent vice president this country has ever seen but it's pretty shameful of him to spew those types of lies. the american people are looking
8:07 pm
at what donald trump's presidency look like and it was success. we had peace around the world and in the middle east. we had a secure border here at home, noah wharton ukraine, americans had more money in their pockets. we didn't have record high inflation that was robbing them of their paychecks and that's why president trump is leading the polls. kamala harris needs to take a little bit of responsibility for the problems but she still refuses to. and so again the joy is gonna, she's filled with anger and bitter resentment because she sees the writing on the wall so they are sticking these terrible attacks, this awful rhetoric and in attempt to win the election, it's a terrible closing argument in the last 12 days. >> trace: great to have you on the show. time is winding down to election day, the hairs campaign leaning on some star power in effort to revive her full numbers. live with more on the vps vip list. >> the hairs campaign is pulling out all the stops with less than

these are the battleground states that... it's kind of important to note that trump is leading in every single battleground except for wisconsin. what is your take away? >> it doesn't take a political genius to see the writing on the wall here. a trump is pulling better than he's ever pulled, he's ahead in early voting and he specifically ahead among low propensity voters. these are voters who are not necessarily registered republicans or democrats who are going to vote more sporadically. that means that republicans have not even started to eat into their election day base which tends to turn out in greater numbers then democrats election day base does. this is bad news for kamala harris across-the-board. >> is a bad news, is it right? is it something we can shift or is it bad news? >> i then gets too soon to tell. while i do think republicans hold certain advantages right now in the world -- rural or...
8:11 pm
we are still early in early voting and there's no denying the democrats have a structural advantage both in the money race and in the ground game. i think that all we are seeing in those poles is that this thing is going to be a coin toss anyway you look at it and i'd rather be democrats or republicans right now given the ground game we've got in place. >> trace: the data guy said this about the battlegrounds moving together, watch. >> in 201292% of the states moved in obama's direction. in 2016, 83% of the swing states moved together because the polls under did donald trump. this time around don't be surprised if the swing state polls underestimate one candidate they underestimate all of them in the states and that would lead to a relative electoral college blowout. >> he's got 100% under counting donald trump.
8:12 pm
>> the numbers look really good for donald trump. they look awful for kamala harris. she has nothing to run on. donald trump runs on four years of incredible track record that americans were far better off under. the bottom line is the price of groceries, energy and inflation is at all-time highs. nobody wants another four years of this. >> trace: they keep saying inflation is coming down but the burrito across the street is still 19 box. when it comes down come talk to me. here's cnbc on... >> harris has lost all her post convention bounce. she went to minus ten back where she was in our august survey. that's a sign trump has been landing blows on her and may be she's been doing it to herself as well. >> trace: the balance is flat. >> this was entirely predictable. this is exactly what happened to kamala harris when she ran for the democratic nomination back
8:13 pm
in 2019. she had that little peak and then voters in the democratic primary were exposed to who she really is, how hollow her ideas actually are and she immediately tanked to the point where she had to drop out before the first few votes were counted. this was entirely predictable. everyone predicted that as soon as kamala harris was exposed to the public and in long form that she would have some sort of collapse. unfortunately this is happening a bit too close to election day for my liking but at least it's happening better than not it all >> trace: we had some breaking news coming out today melissa aaronmak the ex-girlfriend story hit the headlines once again. accusing him of slapping her. she said what's frightening for a woman that's been on the other end of it is watching this completely fabricated persona being portrayed. he's being held to be the antithesis of who he actually is and that is utterly shocking. there's been very little coverage of this up to this point. do we see more of it or does it
8:14 pm
fall flat? >> i think it falls flat. i think at this point in the election cycle i think allegations made against either side are going to be looked at with an extra lens of scrutiny. while those are very serious allegations that should be explored if they are real and true i think at this point in the cycle you are not going to see the mainstream media run with it unless there is some hard evidence. >> trace: it's really -- there was a time where we said believe all women. now it's like not so close to the election we don't want to believe those women. >> believe all women except those that are accusing a democrat front runner of doing an awful unspeakable thing. if this were donald trump or if it were eric or don you don't get that kind of flexibility. >> it's very true. if it was somebody else there would be different coverage on this thing. thank you all. we appreciate it. both campaigns now embracing podcasts.

the former president is set to appear on the joe rogan experience tomorrow with the vice president reportedly considering her own joe rogan experience. christina coleman is live with a closer look at this. >> both trump and harris doing quite a few interviews this week and recently doing podcasts. trump plants to sit down with joe rogan for his wildly popular podcast which is more than... trump discussed this on fox. >> we talked about it for a long time. i think he's a nice guy, i've met him a couple of times at the fights. it just seems something to do. no real strategy there. >> tonight reuters is reporting that harris will not make an appearance on the podcast. she was busy last night doing a town hall on cnn and she struggled to answer some pretty basic questions. take a listen to how she
8:16 pm
answered this. when she was asked why some of her plans haven't been implanted while she was vice president she came to this wordy and confusing response. >> there was a lot that was done but there's more to do and i'm pointing out things that need to be done. that haven't been done but need to be done. >> you got it? harris got swift president -- criticism for her word salad last night. and from her opponent donald trump. >> in yet another incoherent train wreck of a television interview yesterday. >> the word salad stuff gets on my nerves. i think some is not necessary. >> simultaneously she can't even answer the expected questions. >> you've got to wonder this is why she's held off on doing unscripted live tv interviews. >> trace: good thing to wonder about thank you. let's bring in conservative commentator alicia krause and the author of what's killing america jason rance, thank you
8:17 pm
both for coming on. i want to play one more cnn harris reactions sound bite and then i will go to you jason for this. >> the things that would concern me is when she doesn't want to answer a question, her habit is to kind of go to word salad city. >> she focused a lot more on donald trump. i think it's fair to say than she did on many specific. >> her goal was to close the deal. they are not sure she did that. >> trace: did she lose cnn? >> i don't know if she lost cnn because i don't thank they would ever truly turn on her but they do at least have to step back and say people are going to judge us a little harshly if we don't at least be honest about what it is that we just witnessed. every wants in a while you actually get some of the honesty coming from them. i think it's so clear to anyone who watches, it she's really. i do talk radio, every wants in
8:18 pm
a while some issue happens and i can't go to a break so i have to vamp for two or 3 minutes. she's doing this constantly because she can't be allowed to be specific because her actual ideas are just a continuation of what has been done for the last three and a half. >> trace: j.d. vance went on the theo bond podcast and the comments are the following. they were all almost unanimous. they said the guy is supposed to be weird, he's like the most normal down to earth guy. people say he's weird are you kidding me he is the most normal chill dude i've ever heard. the last one is while he's impressive, first i'm hearing him speak. he doesn't speak click a politician and isn't pandering for votes. did anybody really buy into the whole weird thing. >> when the view and "the today show" and anderson cooper and others and everybody that may be middle america moms are watching on tv are saying
8:19 pm
this guy's really weird and they maybe didn't watch the debate but then they see their kid or their husband watching the podcast they are like wait a second this is fine. we saw that his vp debate performance pulled really well with women. they were impressed with the way that he handled himself and how things seem to go peacefully and he wasn't very in-your-face. i think that this interview showed he is kind of a normal guy. he's from ohio, he had to work his way from an addict mom that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, so to speak, to becoming a very well-established lawyer and really young senator. the guy has a more impressive resume than barack obama but the democrats still send him out... >> trace: cbs hitting backs at the legal threat against i'm talking about the whole kamala harris interview. they will not release the concept -- the transcript but they did release the following.
8:20 pm
editing is a necessity for all broadcasters to enable them to present the news. that is what 60 minutes did here as it does with other reports. it's concerning to me because you think i get it you have to edit for time but you don't have to edit for content and the accusation is they edited for content. >> they clearly edited to help and you're not supposed to edit to help or hurt the subject of your interview. you are supposed to have an honest conversation. it's normal to make some cuts but i think in this case it was done to help her. ultimately the legal argument here is silly. they get to do this but the brilliance of the strategy of even bringing it up as a potential legal argument from the trump team as we are still talking about it. they will see why doesn't 60 minutes really said, what are they hiding? >> trace: finally whoopi goldberg on undecided voters, she said the following.
8:21 pm
>> if you are not sure by now, i don't know what else it is people are looking for. she has turned herself inside out practically to meet -- she's met everybody that nobody thought she would meet. she's doing the best she can with what she's got and if it's not good enough then we are in trouble. >> trace: best she can with what she's god. >> if that's her a game that i really wonder what it's like to fail out because win you look at kamala harris' entire political career which her entire career had been political, she has not gone into small business, she's never worked in a c suite. did she even have any private-sector experience? i'd have to ask about that. literally the woman is failing up and she's trying to convince the american people with all of the filler words to ignore the questions that we want answered. like how was she going to make schools safer and secure the border, how was she go to fix inflation. she's tried all the things but
8:22 pm
it isn't working. >> trace: tens of thousands of migrants eager to rush the southern border for the presidential election and it's no surprise who many of them seem to be rooting for. later not long before kamala harris went on national television and called donald trump a fascist, rock obama questioned how the political climate got so divided and bitter. >> there are times where i don't understand how we got so toxic and so divided and so bitter. >> do you think donald trump is a fascist? >> yes, i do. >> trace: does obama not see his party's role in dividing the nation? let us know. we will read your responses coming up next in the nightcap.
