right and duty to respond to iran's strikes earlier this month as israel's military struck several of iran's military sites in the country's largest ever attack on iran. as fears grow of escalation this hour and president biden now saying just moments ago, he hopes, quote, this is the end of military action. welcome to fox news live, i'm griff jenkins. molly: i'm molly line. and we'll have much more just ahead. but as early voting begins in michigan today, both candidates are on the ground there making their pitch to voters. any moment now, former president trump will speak in a detroit suburb and vice-president harris is coming off her big campaign event in texas and she'll speak in kalamazoo later today. we have team coverage with peter doocy travelling with the vice-president and alexis adams following the former president. and we'll go to alexis first in
9:02 am
novi, michigan. >> hi, molly, check it out behind me the stage where the former president is going to be later this afternoon here in novi michigan, in the suburbs of detroit. this is the second rally in detroit in just the past few hours. he was three hours late after he sat down for a long interview with joe rogan, but trump told him he had to do the interview because it's going to help him win. >> i'm sorry so sorry, here is what they want today do. we got so tied up and i figured you wouldn't mind too much because we're trying to win. [cheers] i got interviewed by actually a great guy, i didn't know him too well, but i got to know him because it was the longest interview i've ever done in my life. >> it's been a busy 24 hours on the campaign trail hitting nevada, texas and two rallies in michigan, traverse city and then here in novi, michigan.
9:03 am
and touting his plans to boost the auto industry, specifically in michigan and trying to revive parts of detroit and curb immigration problems. the crowd was very excited to hear about his plans for immigration as he played some of the videos at his rally as well. we're days now into the election and if you can believe it. this is now coming to an end and things are tight in michigan, quinnipiac polls show that harris is leading 49 to 46% in vote e, hey, that's within the margin of error and could be anyone's game. and nationally, things are in a dead heat. the latest new york times and sienna polls, harris and trump tied 48-48, okay, not much time left to move the needle. former president trump says it's moving in the wrong direction under the biden-harris administration, and slamming harris for saying she wouldn't do anything different than biden. >> and i say to people we have a bigger problem from the enemy within and drives them crazy
9:04 am
when i use that term, but we have an enemy from within, we have people that are really bad people that i really think want to make this country unsuc unsuccessful. >> and those are some of the things that he talks about in the joe rogan podcast. talking for three hours covered a wide range of topics and thousands of listeners tuning in as soon as it dropped last night and impact on decided -- undecided voters. we've hit a lot of states and people travelling with them, and how the candidates get tired, we were in nevada, straight to texas and interview after a rally and last night to michigan, although he was late, people said they were still happy to see him and still brought a lot of energy, got to give him credit for crisscrossing the country. i'm tired and only doing it for 48 hours, molly. molly: that was no understatement that interview was long. i was watching it on the train
9:05 am
ride to new york, it was long and other things in between and after and the die-hards stuck around for the late night rally. >> that's right. molly: alexis, great job on the ground and hopefully you can get coffee on the way. alexis mcadams. griff: after a stop in deep red texas with pop star beyonce, vice-president harris is refocusing on the states of michigan and pennsylvania. and she'll be with michelle obama in kalamazoo. and i won't hold it against you if ava maria isn't playing behind your hit. >> greetings inside the blue wall, both states are treating michigan like it wasn't closer than last time, biden by 154,000 votes.
9:06 am
and the one issue she's talking about more than anything else, the one policy issue is abortion access. >> if you think you are protected from trump abortion bans because you live in michigan or pennsylvania or nevada or new york or california, or any state where voters or legislators have protected reproductive freedom, please know, no one is protected if there is a trump national abortion ban and it will outlaw abortion in every single state. >> this is the kind of tightrope act the vice-president's team is walking in michigan. 100,000 democrats here voted uncommitted in the primary to protest how the biden-harris team spent addressing the israel-hamas war and progressive in pennsylvania that she's talking too much about eye borings and donald trump and not talking enough about the economy. the vice-president is aware of
9:07 am
this and has no plans to change her script. >> one of the things that i love about the american people is we can hold many thoughts at once. my priority includes fighting for our democracy, including fighting for the freedom of people to make decisions about their own body. including what we must do to speak out against threats to our democracy. >> michelle obama is reminding people to put their ballots in the mailbox before it's too late. only spoken on the vice-president's behalf once at the august convention, but she is going to be here in kalamazoo, our second trip to michigan with the vice-president this week. the democrats are trying to prioritizing the blue wall states because the blue wall here in michigan, wisconsin, and pennsylvania, have voted together in every election since 1992. griff.

griff: inside the famed blue wall. peter doocy inside kalamazoo, michigan. peter, thank you. molly: the israeli military says it targeted iranian sites in response to the country's october 1st attack. our senior correspondent greg palkot is in haifa, israel tracking these developments from the region. greg. >> hi, molly. at least for the moment, israel has finished its retaliation with iran. for four hours early this morning israeli time and we were up for some 100 israeli fighter jets took the thousand mile trip to iran and conducted what israel says were precisely calibrated strikes on military targets. the first aimed at taking out air defenses including in syria and iraq, and then hitting 20 long range missile production preparation and storage sites near tehran and two other regions in iran. no nuke or oil facilities were
9:09 am
hit, as the biden administration had requested. it was, in fact, a pretty specific retaliation to the barrage of some 180 ballistic missiles iran fired at israel on october 1st. israel is defiant. >> our message is clear, all those who threaten the state of israel and seek to drag the region into wider escalation will pay a heavy price. >> even though two iranian soldiers were killed, tehran seemed to downplay the attack, claiming many israeli projectiles were intercepted and that damage was minimal. but, molly, an ominous note from iran's foreign ministry saying in a statement, iran is entitled and obligated to defend itself against external aggressive acts, and as you noted, just earlier today, president biden saying he hopes that this is the end.
9:10 am
back to you. molly: there you are highlighting a signal that perhaps this won't be the end. greg palkot, thank you for your reporting. please stay safe. griff: for more on israel's retaliatory strike on iran, let's bring in former cia station chief and fox news contributor dan hoffman. thanks for being here. let's takeup where greg palkot left off with president biden saying he hopes it's the end. how do you see it? >> i think it might be the end of this particular chapter, but the biden administration made it clear they did not want israel to open the aperture and target the leadership or the nuclear sites which is what israel did, a precise and proportional military strike. look, iran remains a nuclear threshold state with a significant ballistic missile capability and continue to provide military equipment and finances to their proxy
9:11 am
terrorists in the middle east. and so, israel right now is fighting alone a multi-front war against iran and its proxies and i expect that to continue. now, iran didn't respond immediately and they may not respond, but israel is going to have to carry on their fight against hamas and hezbollah and also the proxy terrorists in yemen, the houthis as well. griff: dan, i think it's more about what they did not strike as for what they did strike, not hitting the nuclear sites or oil infrastructure. is that intended in hopes that iran then would not respond? >> well, i think that israel was trying to thread the needle and they were very cognizant of the significant pressure that the biden administration was putting on them. that they wanted to restore deterrents, but not do so much that iran would feel the need to retaliate immediately. the biden administration may look at this as a success. i think perhaps it's a short-term success where we
9:12 am
haven't seen a wider war today, but we run that risk down the road because all of the challenges that we face continue to grow and i think that's going to be the-- what the next administration, whether it's a harris administration, or a trump administration, this diplomatic -- this war that israel is fighting is going to carry on, and the next administration will have to deal with it. griff: what's the solution for the next administration? we've looked back. this has been going on for decades between israel and iran going back to the islamic revolution and now, here we are at a point where it looks like escalation is inevitable and perhaps the most dangerous moment we faced in this conflict. >> well, i think israel is taking steps, the right steps by clearing southern lebanon, by degrading and destroying hamas' capability to wage war and hezbollah's as well. you look at the leadership of

both terrorist groups, it's been decimated and israel still has to deal with hezbollah rocket attacks, but they're taking the fight to the enemy. the longer term challenge, how do you break the links between the terrorist proxies and the irgc with the military rockets and the finances? that's something that the next administration is going to have to figure out and stop it in some way because if we don't, the israelis will continue to do what they do, which they like to call it mowing the lawn and they're going to have to continue to deal with hezbollah, hamas, the houthis, and iraqi proxy terrorists and won't solve anything and cause great disruption, and continuing in the red sea. a concern for the next administration. griff: israel seems stuck in a ring of fire with proxies, hezbollah, houthis -- and the

minutes i've got left. struck by the biden-harris administration said don't go to rafah. israel said we're going to rafah and took out sinwar. do you see the administration in just the last few weeks and months, at least with president biden in charge, just letting netanyahu do what he needs to do? >> well, i don't think this administration has any leverage over israel right now. a little bit in terms of israel's counter strikes on iran that we saw last night, but in the big picture, they don't. israel is taking the fight to their enemies as they choose to do so against hamas and gaza and against hezbollah and lebanon and they've done it regardless of whatever the biden administration says, israel is going to pursue whatever military attacks and cyber attacks and operational intelligence operations that they need to keep their citizens safe. i think that's what this is

>> virginia governor glenn youngkin is appealing a federal judge's ruling to reinstate noncitizens to the voter rolls, a week before the presidential election. cb cotton has the latest on this, state officials tell fox they filed an appeal hours after the judge's ruling which said virginia governor glenn youngkin's executive order violated federal law, barring large scale changes to voter rolls, so close to an election. youngkin's executive order issued in august required daily checks of dmv data against voter rolls to possibly identify non-citizens. prior to this, virginia only
9:20 am
did monthly checks, according to a state law passed in 2006, but under the new executive order, virginia ended up removing more than 1600 voter registrations from people suspected to be non-citizens. the department of justice and a coalition of immigrant rights groups though asked for an injunction, arguing that many of these voters were indeed eligible, but had made mistakes when registering. the judge, siding with them, and requiring those people removed to have their voter registrations restored with a written reminder that anyone who is indeed a non-citizen cannot vote. virginia's attorney general show telling fox the commonwealth is being wrongly targeted for upholding a law previously followed by democratic predecessors. >> these are individuals that voluntarily on their own identify as non-citizens, and what-- essentially what they're asking us to do the department of justice is asking us to do is
9:21 am
to ignore virginia law. >> so, while state officials in virginia appeal, another state also dealing with voting controversy, a conservative u.s. appeals court has ruled against a mississippi law, which allowed election officials to count mail-in ballots which are post marked by election day, but arrive after. the ruling sends the issue back to lower court for further consideration. ultimately, the matter could be headed for the supreme court. and over in battle ground pennsylvania, a criminal investigation is underway after election officials flagged about 2500 voter registration forms for potential fraud. griff. griff: boy, you know you're in the political season with so many things to sort out. cb cotton, thank you. molly. molly: that's the goal to sort it out. we're going to talk about pennsylvania, but i want to start with virginia and let's bring in fox news contributor andrew mccarthy, what's happening there. this is interesting, the
9:22 am
executive order, a big pushback. the argument, the judge is pushing back on this by essentially saying that the process has resulted in eligible voters having their voter registration flagged as part of this effort. what do you say to that concern that's being weighed by the opponents by youngkin and also the judge has tried to do? >> i think it's very incomplete. first of all, they're calling it a systematic change you're not to do within 90 days, but this is done on a case by case basis. i think the important things here, in virginia under the law, if you have been flagged under suspected of not being an american citizen, if you file -- if you're willing to sign an attesttation under oath that you're an american citizen they have to let you vote. it's not someone who is authentically an american citizen is actually going to be blocked by this. and in the meantime, in federal
9:23 am
law, it is a crime for someone who is not eligible to vote to cast a ballot and it's also a crime to swear under oath that you're an american in order to register to vote. so the virginia law actually backs and bolsters federal law and it's amazing to me that this is being done by the civil rights commission because every time an alien who is not eligible votes, that cancels out the right of an american citizen. it cancels out your voting rights, which is an important civil right. >> well, what about the systematic removal. they're complaining about, had removes systematic controls of the voter rolls. and if the people are purged, that's not preferred by the effort to look at the rolls. they take extra steps, do they not? >> see, i don't mean to play word games here, but you know,
9:24 am
this isn't so much systematic as categorical. something that's systematic is knows something you do case by case. they're going through case by case and again, if someone who is taken off the rolls says that that's a mistake and you're actually an american citizen, when you show up to vote, they have to let you vote under virginia law. >> just switching gears here, i don't want to lose our chance to talk about it. in pennsylvania, this is wild actually, lancaster county, southeastern part of the state. heavily leaning republican in recent elections and potentially 2,500 fraudulent voter registration applications have been flagged apparently a part of a large scale canvassing operation. it's been described as the district attorney heather adams, this is what has resulted in this thing being found. your thoughts what's being uncovered there and investigated in pennsylvania? >> well, i really think that
9:25 am
harvesting votes is a problem and anything that goes in the way of collecting them outside of the supervision and identification processes that have integrity is a problem. this is a situation, evidently, we have about 2500 ballots that were submitted collectively. some of the information in them is accurate, but the people say that they themselves did not fill out these things. some of the other information is inaccurate, it's obviously got all the ear marks of a criminal attempt to influence the election and i'm glad they're investigating it as a criminal matter. it's pretty interesting, pennsylvania' secretary of the commonwealth was quoted on meet the press, we understand there was an outside organization collecting registrations and submitted them right before our voter registration deadlines. hopefully they get to the bottom of who was paid to do this and do this work. as you noted, there were inaccuracy and the district attorney talking about fake, false personal information and
9:26 am
some of them having the same handwriting, all sorts of wild stuff. the argument is that the system worked in this case, that they weren't successful. your thoughts on that argument? >> i don't think that's a trivial argument, molly. i think -- it's alarming that you have groups that are trying to do this, but we can't sit here and say that it didn't get flagged. you know, obviously, they found that there was a problem. they're investigating it and investigating it as a criminal matter. if they follow through and actually make arrests and prosecute it, that has a good effect system-wide. so, i applaud them for actually, you know, doing what they're supposed to do here. >> this is confidence in our elections. andrew mccarthy, delightful to talk to you today and see you again, hopefully on election day. griff: molly, trumps sits down with joe rogan while harris campaigns with beyonce. we'll break it down with our

about republicans warming up to just the process of early voting and now that's underway in michigan, so, maybe as numbers come in, we'll get better ideas and more on the lay of the land. in-person voting officially underway and big rally, and both the candidates there in person today. president trump holding a rally and we might dip into that here in a couple of moments, but harris is also on the ground coming off the big rally in texas, beyonce, kind of a star-studded thing and joining her on the trail in michigan, michelle obama, the first since the big dnc campaign appearance. is this the type of thing that matters to michigan voters? >> i don't think so. i think it certainly helps, you know, get kamala's message out and drum up some support nationally and certainly, a lot of coverage of it, a lot of headlines, you know, some stuff on social media about the greatest moments from it. i don't think it will move a ton of votes here in michigan. you know, i think being on the ground, i think people are anxious to hear from the campaigns themselves and have a little more access than they've been able to have to the harris

campaign. that said, you know, she's in a swing state. she's in a swing area today with michelle obama. a few counties in michigan that have become deep battle grounds and either campaign could squeeze out a thousand extra votes that might make a difference. but i think michelle obama appearance. >> and one of the groups when we talk about michigan is the arab-american votes and republicans have been trying to make inroads with those groups. the michigan republican party putting out a full page ad this week and trying to argue that it's president trump that is the candidate of peace, and then the democrats have to deal with this uncommitted movement. how big of an impact do you think that vote contingent, that group is. >> i think it could have a huge impact. we're talking about a group of

people probably more than 100,000 voters. they sat out in the primary here and they did not vote for biden at that point, uncommitted vote and recently the head of the arab american community here really in dearborn say we are going to sit this one out, too. when you look at how close michigan is going to be, those votes could be very, very important. trump has made, you know, big inroads in trying to connect with that community, of course, there are so many issues that they're concerned about and you are seeing even on the world stage here today, why there are concerns over a cease-fire getting done and conflict in the middle east is still ahead in their minds so they don't think that harris has heard their complaints. they don't see that she's done anything substantive on this one and they're going to sit this one out and could tip the balance in michigan. >> excellent point as we watch israel defending itself against iran attacks. thank you so much for joining us. i wish you lots of coffee and energy as you get through the
